As well as that I provide the links to the previous "Encyclopaedia" entries, also note that whilst the first (Commonwealth) had images meant to represent the locations, those after don't, mostly due to me not wanting to reuse the same images over and over again, but you could say the reason is because the "Encyclopaedia" is being written by someone from New London and does not have any proper images.

The Sovereignty of New Albion:
Population estimate 1927 survey:
One Hundred and thirty six thousand, two hundred and fifty seven
A major power in the known frostlands, the Sovereignty of New Albion was founded by its capital city and namesake New Albion following the expansion of its controlled territory.
![]() |
Flag of the Sovereignty of New Albion - 1927 |
The Sovereignty is a strong autocratic nation where power is held by a select few, specifically by noble families that control most of the political, economic and military power of the nation. If one is not born to one of these families, then life is very closed off, the noble families are said to enjoy far better lives than the average "plebeian" or "peasant", they are said to live in luxurious manors and villas whilst the majority of the population live in cramped housing districts.
The executive powers of the Sovereignty are held by the Lord Sovereign who in the current method is selected not based on direct hereditary but rather by a "Sovereign Vote" where following the passing of the old Sovereign, a new one takes their place by a vote among the leading noble families. So a person will put themselves forward as a candidate and then the leading families will vote on whether or not to accept them as the new Lord Sovereign.
Some say that the Sovereignty is a mirror of the old world, where the rich, powerful and or noble control almost everything and enjoy the fruits from the labour of others. However the Sovereignty claim that their system of leadership and governance is based on the true structure of the old British parliament, as those of noble lineage receive the best education and such have the most understanding of leadership and the intellect to govern. In their case, the Lord Sovereign is the head of state with the House of Lords serving beneath them.
The Sovereignty lay claim descendance of the true leaders of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and as such believe that they are the rightful heirs and successors of the British Empire, that it is their right and duty to rebuild and reunify the British Empire once again either now or in the future. This has resulted in the Sovereignty becoming very imperialistic and expansionist, particularly against the other successor nations from the British Isles.
In the years following the Great Storm, the Sovereignty began like other nations to expand into the Frostlands to obtain resources needed to sustain the city and continue expansion. In order to connect their new resource extraction sites and later colonies and settlements, the Sovereignty worked a mixture of different methods to transport resources and people back and forth between them.
From the outside however these systems are dependant on what is being transported, for low priority materials, the Sovereignty uses a Frost-Roads with tracked vehicles to move people and materials, this is usually done for short distances such as Resource sites to their nearest settlement. From there materials, supplies and resources of greater importance are loaded onto cramped skyway cars and then taken onto the major cities or settlements where they are needed. Said Skyways are also used for the transit of people around the Sovereignty, except for the noble families who use more "refined" airships for their transit between cities and settlements.
Trains are in the middle, besides military service and transport, the trains along the Sovereignty's rail lines carry large quantities of cargo. This can include raw materials, minerals, fuel etc, but also food supplies, manufactured items and so on, in military purposes, the Sovereign Guard use armoured trains to transport not only their troops but also the supplies, munitions and materials that their forces need. Said trains are easily identifiable by their reinforced armoured cars that are pushed ahead of the engines, these armoured cars have strong snow and ice ploughs on their fronts, as well as heavy armaments that serve to protect the train with artillery and machine gun fire.
This segregation of transit is even seen among the Airships that the Sovereignty uses, those of the Sovereign Airforce, the S.A.F use less impressive airships, theirs are built specific for their role as an military aircraft, built to carry weapons and possess no luxuries or comforts. Whilst those Airships which are used by the Nobility are more aesthetically pleasing for their users, they are built for the comfort of their passengers, theirs possess comfortable seating, additional padding and layers to the balloon, better steering and more luxurious interiors.
![]() |
| Above - Airship of the Sovereign Air-Force, Below - Private Noble Airliner |
These are confined solely to the Noble families for transit between the cities and settlements of the Sovereignty, with only those of nobility allowed to use them. The only none nobles allowed onboard are the crews who maintain them, pilot them and serve the passengers with food and drinks for their journey.
Due to its Imperialist ideals, the Sovereignty was caught in a number of conflicts during the years of the Frostland Wars, specifically against its main rival the Commonwealth of New London with whom it has a long standing feud over who can claim to be the rightful successor of the British Capital. And the Socialist Republic of Winterhearth, against whom the Sovereignty see as a dangerous revolutionary ideology that can threaten the "Order" of their way of life.
However in there are currently elements of peace in place, with the Commonwealth of New London there is a tenuous peace agreement, not a true peace treaty but more of a truce but against the Socialist Republic, there is nothing more than a fragile truce which is often pushed close to the limit of open warfare. Despite these peace agreements, the nation has not forsaken its Imperialist expansionist ideology and its intent to restore the glory of the British Empire.
Though there are rumours that there is still a small rebellion within the Sovereignty, whose goal is to overthrow the "Corrupt and Decadent" nobility from their "Gilded Thrones" and bring about a democratic system. However the Sovereignty claims that the Rebellion is in its nothing more than anarchists and rogue revolutionaries being spurred on by foreign powers seeking to bring down the rightful heirs of the British Empire.

Cities and Colonies:
As with other nations, the core of the Sovereignty is focused around their centres of population, their large cities and colonies that have been built up over the generations.
Similar in respects to other nations, the cities of the Sovereignty are very much built up in a guided structure of districts with distinct roles and purposes. Except in the Sovereignty there are two kinds of Housing districts, those that at the heart of the cities which are built up with careful spacing, clean streets and comfortable houses for individual families. Then there are the housing districts that are for practically everyone else, the middle and lower classes of society.
Like everyone else, when the Sovereignty began to expand outwards into the Frostlands, it was primarily for the purpose of obtaining resources and materials needed for continued existence. Mostly because the sources that were close to their capital cities had been severely depleted, so colonies were established to allow for access to new resources, with all of them connected to each other through the skyways, rail lines and of course for the lords and ladies, the airliners.
Each of these colonies and cities are given a localised leadership under the Lord Sovereign, these individuals were expected to maintain the cities in their charge, ensure the continued security of them, enforce the laws etc. In the case of the cities and colonies, these were the duties of the Lord Governors, who are appointed by collective vote from the House of Lords, though often this is often done through hereditary lines, meaning a son will likely succeed his father upon their passing and become the Lord Governor as well.
The cities of the Sovereignty are defined by their size and population, the cities of the Sovereignty as with other cities in the known Frostlands are in the tens of thousands rather than the older recognition of hundreds into the single digit thousands.
New Albion: Capital
"In posterum gloriam dare debemus"
"For the Future we must give glory" Motto of New Albion
Population 1927 survey: Fifty three thousand, nine hundred and eighty five
The Capital city of the Sovereignty and its namesake, New Albion was originally planned to be a partner and supporting city for New London, meaning it was intended to support New London if anything went wrong. If anything extreme was to happen then New Albion would take on the role of the planned "reborn capital of the British Empire", which was the original hope, that one day when the freeze passed, Great Britain could be reborn once again.
During the original construction of the Generators at both sites, a Telegraph line was built connecting them, so when the cities were established they could stay in contact with each other. However as the Freeze took hold and society collapsed, something happened that led to the failure and breaking of the line, which meant that neither could contact the other, so in effect New Albion grew under the belief that New London was lost and vice versa.
With the strong Imperialist ideology still in place in New Albion, the city came under the leadership of the nobility that had evacuated to the site with their families. Under the rule of the Lord Sovereign and the House of Lords, a system of order based on nationalism, militarism and obedience. Strong laws were put into effect that limited personal freedoms as well as strict authorities upon those of power, those who disobeyed were subjected to severe punishments.
The First Lord Sovereign, Sir Hyrum Learmonth underline that this system of order was to ensure the continued survival of humanity through the freeze that obedience ensured productivity and efficiency and with those, the city would gain the means of surviving the freeze and begin to turn away from plain survival.
Following the Great Storm, this system of obedience remained in place as the House of Lords started to look back into the Frozen wilderness. Today New Albion is a large city that continues to grow, districts of various industries turn raw materials into workable items, trade goods, luxuries etc. At the cities heart is the House of Lords itself, a large building built to mimic the Palace of Westminster from before the freeze, it is here that the House meets, the Lord Sovereign lives and works, serving as the heart of the Sovereignties authority.
Around it is the Lords District, where the noble families live in comfortable houses and manors, away from the busy streets of the other housing districts, away from the smog and soot of the factory districts. Close to that is the Guard District, which serves as the headquarters for the New Albion Guard, which serves as both a Police force and military for the Sovereignty, in this section of the city, one will find the Guard Headquarters where the Leading officers work, the main barracks where the members of the guard train and rest alongside the cities main armouries, holding all the weapons of the Guard in the city.
Far beyond all these more well built and established structures, across different points are the other housing districts, which themselves are divided, those closer to the Lords District, are more akin to well refined streets and pleasant apartment buildings where the so called middle class live and work, it is here that one will find the shops, restaurants and other places for the middle, upper and Noble classes meet and intermingle.
Then closer to the factories, industries, rail lines and the very edges of the city are the so called "Slum Districts", cramped housing buildings crammed close together with 3 to 4 floors in each to maximise space. Here entire families have to share living space, one record shows that in one bunkhouse which had 7 rooms, there were near 25 people living within it. The streets are described as decrepit, covered in muck and waste, with little effective sanitation, the air is said to be filled with a constant "mist" from the soot and smog of the factories that are build within close proximity to them.
Scattered across different areas are the watch stations which serve akin to local police stations for the New Albion Guard and the more imposing watchtowers which stand higher than most of the buildings around them, with spot lights and armed snipers at the top, maintaining a close watch over their surroundings for any signs of dissidence or unlawful activity.
It it here that the majority of the citizens of the city live and work, in the name of Order and Obedience.
New Westminster: Luxury
"Futurum Prosperitatis"
"The Future of Prosperity" Motto of New Westminster
Population 1927 survey: Nineteen Thousand, Six Hundred and Eighty Four
Though New Albion serves as the Capital city for the Sovereignty and holds itself as the Centre of power and authority across the nation and despite the luxurious districts at its heart. The majority of Noble and Prestigious families don't actually live within New Albion itself, rather they live in the colony of New Westminster which is far more refined and established as a place for the wealthy to live without trouble.
As New Albion grew in size, there were restrictions into what could be built, so to try sort any problems, when a viable site was located, the Sovereignty decided to establish it first colony, not due to access to a specific resource, but simple because of the spacious region it was found in. The site was protected on two sides by a mountain range which curved around, providing protection from Whiteouts, plus it had plenty of flat ground to support a proper city.
Except New Westminster was to serve as a home for the prestigious and noble, every effort into making the city was done with luxury, order and structure in mind, properly paved streets, high rise homes, comfortable living and other refined elements, all for those of the upper and noble class. Though there are housing districts for the middle and upper classes, mostly those who had opened businesses in the city such as shops, restaurants, clubs as well as hotels and other "pleasures".
The city is situated rather close to New Albion as many members of the House of Lords prefer to live in New Westminster rather than the more confined Capital. It for this reason that at the heart of New Westminster, is the Air station, where the Airships that serve to transport the prestigious and noble. This station is regarded as well refined with comfortable seating areas, for those waiting to board, with small restaurants and "Cafes" to enjoy whilst they wait.
New Oxford: Home of Knowledge and Understanding
"Scientia est clavis"
"Knowledge is the Key" Motto of New Oxford
Population 1927 survey: Nineteen Thousand, Seven Hundred and twenty eight
As New Albion serves as the heart of the Political and military for the Sovereignty and New Westminster serves as the perfect image for the nation, New Oxford serves as the institutional and Educational heart of the Sovereignty.
As the Sovereignty of New Albion began to spread into the Frostlands, the need for greater understanding and advancements in terms of science and knowledge grew alongside it. So The House of Lords under the direction of the Lord Sovereign agreed on the creation of the Honoured Society an organisation with the distinct charter of working to the improvement of knowledge and understanding.
The Society established itself in a small settlement as it proved a viable location to begin its effort to explore, study and understand the world around them. From New Oxford the Society sent out expeditions in all directions to scout the Frostlands and work to identify viable locations for outposts, settlements and other colonies. Eventually the settlement began to grow around the Society until it became a complete city.
Today New Oxford is a true city that spans numerous districts, housing for the residents, all well built and refined, industrial districts produce the various materials and pieces of equipment needed for a city of scholars, scientists and researchers. But there are changes that have shown the growth of the city, the Honoured Society which originally worked from a collection of buildings, now has a complete headquarters within the city, a huge building with everything needed inside to co-ordinate the organisation. Various offices for the members, theatres where lectures and discussions are given by distinguished members, telegraph lines connect it to the different outposts the society maintains and work from. It even has a dedicated wing to laboratories and another to engineering and mechanics, everything is about learning and understanding as well as improving what already exists.
In fact the Honoured Society is credited in the Sovereignty to the breakthroughs in terms of technology and expansion that the nation has experienced in the past years.
Finally the city holds its namesakes most recognised institute, for as the city expanded, the Sovereignty decided to re-consecrate a university for the future, here members of the Honoured Society as well as credited tutors provide a system of learning for those worthy in the Sovereignty. The University holds a variety of courses and fields of study, from history, to philosophy, medicine, theology, astronomy, engineering, architecture and so on.
The Sovereignty is very proud of New Oxford regarding it as one of the great successes that the nation has brought into the world and proof that the British Empire can be restored with order.
New Plymouth: Airstation
"Britannia undis rexit, nos caelos regemus"
"Britannia ruled the waves, we shall rule the skies" Motto of New Plymouth
Population 1927 survey: Sixteen Thousand, nine hundred
Originally a settlement which served for the singular purpose of providing the Sovereignty with minerals from nearby mines, as the nation began to invest more in colonising the Frostlands, the relatively small settlement that up until that point did not possess a true name was expanded upon. With the mountain range close to the site, it was deemed a viable location for a resource extraction and industrial colony, a city where raw materials wouldn't just be gathered but also refined into useable materials.
Over time the industry of the city was given the proper naming as New Plymouth, mostly because the city had a number of industries that worked in favour of the military supply. New Plymouth has a great many of factories and refineries that work to produce the weapons and munitions for the Guard, even the uniforms are produced here at a linen and leather works.
This militarism was expanded upon when the Sovereignty decided to create a new force in its army, the Sovereign Airforce, it was decided that New Plymouth would serve in a similar fashion to its predecessor. Just as Plymouth back in the British isles served as a shipyard and dock for the Royal Navy, so shall New Plymouth serve in a similar manner, for New Plymouth is the home of the Sovereign Airforce, due to the industrial capacities of the city, New Plymouth is the place where the sovereignty built their airships and maintain them.
In fact a large section of the city serves as the Sovereign Air Headquarters, where their is a large open space where the airships are docked, serviced, maintained. Within the Headquarters is also the training academy where volunteers are trained in how to work the airship machinery, how to pilot them, weapon usage etc.
Split Canyon: Penal Colony
"Futuro servite, ut alii ver videant"
"Serve the future, so others may see spring" Motto of Split Canyon
Population 1927 survey: ten Thousand three hundred
The Sovereignty with its strong emphasis on Order and Obedience to the system of authority and control has a fierce structure of law and punishment when it comes to those who commit crimes. Originally New Albion used prisons like everyone else within their city to hold criminals and subject those of extreme crimes to severe punishments.
But as the Sovereignty began to grow, the Lord Sovereign of the time decided that such was an unreliable method of containing criminals and punishing them. So when a suitable location was identified, plans were put into effect for the creation of an entire colony dedicated to the housing of convicted criminals where they would work for the benefit of the state as punishment for their crimes until their release.
Split Canyon is the main location for criminals within the Sovereignty, if one is convicted of a crime, they are sent here to serve their sentences, whilst having to be forced to work extreme labour. They are forced to work for hours in manual labour, either in the mines working to collect coal, iron, lead or anything else that the prison wants them to work.
But the Prison maintains a strict order of punishments, some sources say that prisoners can be flogged for the smallest infractions, failure to meet work quotas could mean that a random individual receives 100 lashes. The colony is divided into district classes, specifically five district types, at its heart is the Panopticon district, which sits at the exact centre of the colony, here a series of giant watch towers form a ring enabling the observation and monitoring of the entire colony. There is the guards district, where the Prison guards as well as the administration staff live and work, as well as where the rail line and the skyway have stations for the loading or unloading of supplies.
Then there is the lesser wings, where prisoners who have committed minor offences or are close to their release dates, here they are allowed some more comforts, nicer sleeping quarters, better rations as well as the right to write letters home, all of which are carefully censored of course. Next is the Convicted Districts, where criminals of all kinds intermingle, these districts are where prisoners are housed and where they work, the prisoners here are those who have been sentenced for crimes that are deemed reform able by the Sovereign courts. At the heart of these districts is the central courtyard, where punishments are held, once a week the prisoners are brought out and forced to watch the punishments being given by the guards.
Finally there is the condemned districts, these are where the prisoners who will never leave are housed, to be sent here is considered a fate worse than death. For within this section of the colony, the worst convicts are sent to die, either through the forced labour, the extreme methods of guards to maintain order, or the direct executions. For within these districts, is the Execution Square, here those convicts who have been sentenced to death for their crimes are housed, before they are transported to a place of execution, which is always in a public space within a major city.
There they are either hanged, shot by firing squad, beheaded or even burned alive through the agony of having extremely hot steam pumped from below.

Towns and Settlements:
Like other nations across the known Frostlands, the Sovereignty of New Albion has established a series of settlements and towns throughout region it controls and claims as its domain. The majority of these settlements are focused around a specific resource, be it coal, oil, minerals etc, others are settlements that are established to support extraction sites and outposts then there are those that are solely focused on military focus.
Regardless all towns and settlements are categorised by their population, which never go beyond those of the single digit thousands, yet all are required to be at least somewhat self sufficient and capable of supporting the continued prosperity and unity of the Sovereignty.
New Portsmouth: Town
"Pro Natione Quam Praebimus"
"For the Nation We Supply" Motto of New Portsmouth
Population 1927 survey: Two Thousand, Eight hundred
Established in the early years of the Sovereignty's expansion into the Frostlands, initially it served as a forward point for exploration but also for resource extraction, meaning outposts close by would transport the resources to New Portsmouth where it would then be sent on further. However as time went on, New Portsmouth was expanded upon to serve as a fully built settlement within the Frostlands rather than just a base for transportation.
Today New Portsmouth is a mix of two areas of focus, on the one hand it serves as a relay point between New Albion and the settlements and outposts in that particular region. Meaning that the telegraph lines that enable communication pass through New Portsmouth as well as the rail line and skyway, so nearly all resources, supplies and materials in the region pass through its huge "Harbour" as it is called.
But it also serves as an additional base for the Sovereign Airforce, an entire section of the Town is dedicated to the S.A.F, with a large area for the airships to dock, load and unload cargos, crews to rest up, vessels to be maintained and repaired if needs be, as well as the obvious rearming and restocking of munitions for missions.
The structure of the Town is very much built around the "Harbour" which is the centre point for the Towns economy, resident either work in the "Harbour" and the surrounding warehousing quarters, the S.A.F base within the Town or among the various other industries that are closely linked to the "Harbour", metal works, pubs and inns, hotels, repair yards, manufacturing etc, everything is rather tied to the "Harbour".
Rookpoint:
"Illuminans Semitam"
"Lighting the Path" Motto of Rookpoint
Population 1927 survey: One Thousand, Seven Hundred and Sixty
A major mining hub town for the Sovereignty, Rookpoint was originally built up as an outpost focused entirely on resource extraction, however as the sovereignty grew so did Rookpoint, mostly due to the need to find more resources. Whilst the resources closer to the Town were becoming lesser and lesser, there were considerable sites close by.
So rather than move the entire settlement, Rookpoint was changed from a place where resources were extracted, into a hub for transport and transit. At the heart of the settlement is a large rail and skyway junction, where different lines and routes connect at a central hub. Here resources from outposts and other sites are brought in moved from one means of transport or onto a different line and then taken on further.
This junction is critical because Rookpoint serves as the hub for a profound number of oil extraction outposts within the region, oil from these outposts is transported to Rookpoint and from there sent on further to the cities and colonies of the Sovereignty. In fact the truth that the town supports much of the Sovereignties oil extraction and supply, has meant that the Sovereign and the House of Lords take great interest in its continued operation. So much so in fact, that the town has a dedicated permenant garrison of New Albion Guards, whose mission is to ensure the security of the Town, protect the nearby outposts and escort the oil shipments along the rail lines in armoured cars.
Apparently according to some sources another reason for this strong military presence, is because of the Rebellion that occurred there, at some point a number of Rookpoint residents as well as local officials and even some members of the Military, revolted against the Sovereignty and attempted to break away. The New Albion Guard put down the rebellion with lethal force, it is said that countless people were killed in the fighting and dozens more were publicly executed as a warning.
But this does not mean that the town is militarily controlled, for whilst a lot of work is in the Skyways and rail lines, Rookpoint is a truly dedicated town, with ordinary people living their lives and working other forms of employment. The town has shops and other industries related to the junction at the towns heart, some manufacturing, repair shops, pubs, inns and taverns for the residents as well as the Garrison.
Crowstead:
"Fortiter Cudendo"
"Forging Strong" Motto of Crowstead
Population 1927 survey: one Thousand, five hundred
A large settlement on the western frontiers of the Sovereignty, Crowstead is among the newest attempts to settle the Frostlands, it was established due to the proximity of resources but also its industrial capacity.
Originally it appears that Crowstead was a whaling station that had been taken over by the I.E.C during the days of the Last Autumn, it was turned from a place where whalers would go out to sea to find prey, into a place where materials were brought in and transported to the generator sites that were close by. Materials of all kinds were abandoned at the site when the I.E.C evacuated, various steam cores were left, alongside a number of smelters and production lines that were meant to improve the efforts at the Generator Construction sites.
When the Sovereignty discovered the location, it was initially set up as an outpost to find the Steam Cores and send them back to New Albion for use in research and development of the cities. But as time went on and the number of Steam Cores were becoming lesser and lesser, interest in the site practically diminished, until engineers managed to get the smelters and production lines operational again. Whilst they could not produce meaningful materials and trade goods, the facilities that could be fixed were useful in other forms, notably in the production of prefabricated building constructs.
Since most buildings today are constructed with Prefabricated pieces or just Prefabs for short, the production of them makes it crucial for the continued construction and expansion of cities, towns and settlements. This is where Crowstead comes into play for the Sovereignty, whilst every city has industrial districts that produce some prefabs, the majority of the nations buildings are prefabricated in the factories of Crowstead.
The town is divided into three separate parts, there is the housing quarter, which serves as the place of residence for the people living there, within which aren't just houses, but also shops and businesses. Then there is the Transport quarter, where the towns connections to the Skyways and rail lines pass through, bringing in the raw materials needed for the factories, but also for the production of said factories are sent off across the nation.
Then finally there is the Production Quarter, where the different factories are found, turning the raw materials that are brought in are worked into the different prefabs and building materials needed for construction and building maintenance across the Sovereignty.
The Tower:
"Sta fortis, sta erectus"
"Stand Strong, Stand Tall" Motto of the Tower
Population 1927 survey: Three Thousand
A major fortification close the Capital city of New Albion, The Tower is literal in that it serves as a stronghold and defensive barrier for the city from any outside threats. The fortress sits at the entrance to New Albion and consists of various defensive emplacements.
The Tower sits on a large lone standing ridge, with a flat plateau at the highest point, this is where the "Citadel" sits, because it can be said that The Tower is actually a combination of small fortifications surrounding and guarding the approaches to the main fortress at the top. Each approach and route to the plateau is protected by at least two fortifications, these are considerably smaller but are still impressive, being made of solid stone and reinforced with metal ramparts.
All of them are fitted with heavy armaments including heavy cannons and some are fitted with light mortars, giving some additional defensive ability. But these outlying forts are miniscule when compared to the Tower are the top, which is a true dedicated fortress, with three sets of high walls, each higher than the one before, allowing for cannons on all to fire out at any enemy, strong metal towers and ravelins protecting the approaches.
The Tower as a whole has the important duty of protecting the Capital city of the Sovereignty and as such is the largest single fortification in the entire Sovereignty and is constantly being improved upon to make it as impregnable as possible. For example as the Sovereignty began to recognise the power and capabilities of Airships in a military form, the Tower was expanded to include a S.A.F station for airships, as well as countless anti-aircraft batteries at different points to provide protection from any airborne attack on either the Tower itself or the Capital.
Coldridge:
"Ordo in Chao"
"Order in Chaos" Motto of Coldridge
Population 1927 survey: One thousand, five Hundred
One of two major fortifications that the Sovereignty established during the Frostland Wars, to project power and secure its control over certain region. Coldridge was built along a mountainous ridgeline close to the border with the Socialist Republic of Winterhearth.
The ridge is in a perfect position to dominate the area around it, ravelins are placed along the slopes next to it giving additional protection and cannonades to fire out across the flat snow plains around the ridge. Additional ravelins are situated as outlying forts at the approaches to the main fort at the top, so any attacker must first breach and take these ravelins before beginning the hike up the ridgeline to Coldridge itself.
For additional defence, the fort possesses a number of anti-aircraft batteries to provide protection from any enemy airships, though these are considered a fall back defence should the S.A.F airships stationed at the fort are unable to hold back an enemy aerial attack before it reaches the fort itself.
In times of war, Coldridge serves as a stronghold and localised headquarters for the New Albion Guard and the Sovereign Airforce against the enemy, here troops are organised, battles planned and orders given. As well as serving as a point for troops to rally following a defeat or a position where wounded can be sent back to the cities for care and fresh supplies for the front can be brought in.
Because at the bottom of one side of the Ridge which the forts sits on, there is a connection to the wider Sovereignty, a rail line and skyway link allows for the transportation of fresh troops and supplies to the fort from the major cities of the Sovereignty. As well as the connection of a telegraph line that connects here before going up the ridge to the fort, enabling for direct communication between the Fort Commander and Sovereign Command.
Kingsparrow Fortress:
Population 1927 survey: One Thousand, five Hundred
One of two major fortifications that the Sovereignty established during the Frostland Wars, to project power and secure its control over certain region. Kingsparrow Fortress was built atop of solid plateau close to the border with the Commonwealth of New London.
Its placement gives it a dominating position in the region and is regarded as exceedingly well defended, with natural defences, as the Plateau it sits on is broken into two due to a deep gorge that the main fort off from the rest of the world. This is only crossable along a steel draw bridge that spans the gorge and can only be lowered and raised from the fort itself, whilst on the opposing sides there are sheer cliffs that are impossible to climb.
The fortress of course also has strong constructed defences on all sides, even along the cliff side, there are gun positions for artillery pieces to fire out across the landscape, as well as anti-aircraft cannons to deter enemy airships. In conjunction of these batteries, the Fortress also has an Sovereign Air Force station within its walls, a place where airships of the S.A.F can resupply, conduct repairs and rearm themselves for their next missions.
Though the most solid defences are focused at the gorge, the walls along that section of the fortress are stronger, thicker and higher than other sections as obviously most attacks would come from this direction.
The Bridge itself is a engineering feat, as when lowered the bridge connects a rail line into the interior of the fortress, allowing the transportation of supplies and troops back and forth to and from the fortress. The approaches to the Bridge are overlooked by a number of watch towers on both sides of the bridge, two on the opposite side of the fortress with maxim machine guns within serving as the first line against any attack on the bridge, the two towers are connected to the fortress along steel walkways that follow the bridges supports.
Kingsparrow fortress was designed and built with impressiveness in mind, it was constructed to defend the Sovereignty from the Commonwealth which New Albion see as traitors to the British Empire. In its short history, Kingsparrow Fortress served as the front line headquarters for the Sovereignty during the Frostland wars specifically against the Commonwealth, a place for Generals to plan and implement offensives and give orders from relative safety whilst being close to the lines.
Since for the most part during the conflicts between the Sovereignty and the Commonwealth, were with the New Albion Guard being on the offensive, the fortress itself did not see much proper action. The only threat was the aerial attacks of the Commonwealth Air-Corps which were occasionally sent to conduct bombing attacks against the fortress.
Today due to the tenuous peace that is in place between the Sovereignty and the Commonwealth, the Fortress has been intensely improved upon, apparently with more barracks, living quarters, supply storage, upgrades to the defences and more.

Like all other nations, the Sovereignty of New Albion uses a variety of different outposts across its territory, these are not proper settlements and are heavily reliant on the importing of supplies and resources to maintain them.
Some outposts are simple locations built with basic necessities and facilities to house and support the people working the sites. Whilst others are more built up but are still reliant on supplies and materials being sent to them from the cities and settlements to sustain them.
Many of the Outposts the Sovereignty operate are resource extraction focused, they are not for any other purpose other than to extract a specific resource to the site, minerals, oil, wood, food etc.
Frontier Stations:
Average Population: One Hundred and Fifty
In total there are sixteen frontier stations across the Sovereignty, these stations serve a mix of different roles, on the one hand they are placed along the transit routes of the Sovereignty, with some of the workers of the Stations being the engineers who would ensure the proper maintenance of the routes in their region.
They ensure that the Ice Roads, Skyways and rail lines remain useable for the transportation of materials and resources across the nation. As well as that some Frontier Stations serve as the hubs for other outposts close by, specifically the Extraction stations, specifically since such locations aren't deemed important enough to have a connection to the three methods of transport across the Frostlands.
So resources from extraction sites are taken to a Frontier station then on a regular schedule they are loaded onto a selected means of transportation to be "shipped" off to a specific location, namely one of the major cities.
Frontier Forts:
Average Population: One Hundred
Whilst the larger fortresses are intended as proper defensive locations and are established to solidify control and project dominance over a region, the 12 frontier forts are very different.
These smaller forts are not intended to be as impressive and domineering, they exist only to provide an early form of defence for the Sovereignty as well as to serve as military outposts from which patrols can be conducted along the borders. They not as well defined as the larger fortresses that are true domineering structures of the Sovereignty, in fact the Frontier forts are in times of war nothing more than outlying camps for the New Albion Guard, meant only to shelter a force of troops and serve as the frontline.
Most of the Frontier forts fit the same building pattern, a single stone wall in a square shape, with the interior hosting a barracks, a simple means of heat production, storehouses and other necessities meant to support a garrison in the frozen wilderness. However since many of the frontier forts are not connected to any form of transport link, most only have the ice roads. This means that all resupply has to come to them by ice truck and other vehicles, which restricts their capabilities, some refer to them as simple frontier camps for the military, whose sole purpose is to watch over the frontier and the borders.
The placement of the twelve is also clear as to whom the Sovereignty are focused against, there are four along the border with the Socialist Republic, another four along the Commonwealth border. And the final four are split between their northern and western territories, regions away from other nations at least those that are close.
Research and Scholarly Stations:
Average Population: One hundred
On average there are 9 Research and Scholarly stations within the Sovereignty at any one time, these are not really permanent stations and outposts, in fact to say they are outposts are a misnomer. This because they are mostly temporary, they exist to serve as base camps for expeditions by the Honoured Society, places were scholars, explorers and scouts work from to conduct their work.
Only those that are deemed of great importance for research and study, places where science is a key focus, for example the study of the whiteouts or the endless winter itself, or even something more literal like a place where research was done in the years before the freeze. Such places are considered viable locations for permanent outposts by the Honoured Society, the rest are more temporary, places that exist only for as long as their expedition is active.
The station is established, scouts are sent out to explore the wilderness, return to pass on what they had found, charts and maps are created, expeditions members can rest in relatively comfortable beds, eat more than just dry rations and so on. Then once all that can be done at the time or an oncoming whiteout means the expedition returns to its starting point be it a city or the nearest town or settlement.
Regardless however the Research and Scholarly stations are built for one singular reason, to explore, to chart and the learn.

This concludes the basic information on the Cities, Towns, Settlements and Outposts that make up the Sovereignty of New Albion as of the year of our lord 1927.
The next documents in line shall detail The Victorian Free State, the Republic of Glacias, The New American State, The Celtic Union, The Russian Enclave, The Frankian Alliance and the Prussian State.
[ These are yet to be written but the point is, that I intend to make similar short stories like this one in this specific order.]
