The Story was basically the plot of XCOM 2 with some modifications of my own for some fun, now this is an addition to this, as well as blending in another Sci Fi franchise the Stargate TV show as well as elements of other sci fi franchises.
In this story, Earth has been liberated and now after a number of years, XCOM is now serving as a mix between the military and law enforcement for Earth trying to maintain the hard won peace that has been born from the ashes of Advent and the fleeing of the Elders. Now Aliens, Hybrids and Humans are living together, but shocker not everything is going well, such as in the case of XCOM Chimera Squad where the player has to prevent an entire city from falling apart by trying to keep the peace.
Well now XCOM uncovers something that could challenge everything, a strange device that was being held within an old military facility, something similar to the Psionic gates the Elders used, only far larger and more powerful.
Enjoy.... I hope.
P.S, this is going to be a long one, just prewarning you all.... And I mean LONG!
The S.G.C [Stargate Command]:
Following the victory in the War of Liberation where XCOM managed to lead humanity in total victory against the Aliens and Advent, resulting in the overthrowing of Advent and the Elders fleeing Earth entirely. XCOM began going through everything that the Elders had built or worked on to achieve their goals, various Psionic gates were located across the world and due to the dangers they presented, all were systematically shut down and dismantled.
However whilst performing examinations of various data files, XCOM came across something very dangerous, a facility that had been constructed in the early days of Advent. Within the facility there was what the Advent scientists called the Stargate a large device similar to the Psionic Gates used by the Elders to move across the galaxy almost instantly.
Originally it was thought that the Stargate had been brought to Earth by the Elders, however after closer examination of the various databases that were found within the facility holding the Gate. It has been discovered that rather than bringing the Gate from a ship, the Elders actually uncovered the gate, apparently the Gate had been on Earth this whole time and was buried thousands of years ago by the Ancient Egyptians. Which would explain why the Elders were unable to use it during the Invasion, due to it being buried, it was impossible for a stable wormhole to be established.
At first it was decided to seal the facility and even proposed plans to the Global council to have the Gate closed off for good since it could lead to wherever the Elders had gone when they fled Earth, as well as the fact that Earth was in the process of rebuilding. However as time went on the XCOM commander made a recommendation to the Global Council, a request to use the Stargate to send out teams of elite soldiers, scientists and engineers to other worlds not just to explore, but also to possibly identify locations for the creation of Outposts and Colonies.
He did this following an attempt by a "Criminal" group known as Gray Phoenix who felt that aliens were trapped on a planet that wasn't home and wished to either find theirs or establish a new one. Although uncertain, the Global Council was convinced when the Commander made clear in his proposal that these outposts and colonies would also serve to keep a close watch for any signs of the Elders thus giving Earth some additional protection.
The Council agreed and permitted the establishment of Stargate Command, however they insisted that it be overseen by someone that the Commander trusted and even wished for the teams to be made up of several groups, not just Humans.
The working of a stargate is very complicated, but the basis is simple by performing a dialling in which one encodes a set of seven symbols, the gate connects to another and forms a wormhole between the two, enabling someone to walk through and out the other side in an instant. From what is known there are possibly hundred if not thousands of Stargates across the galaxy, which was used by the Elders as a means of moving through the galaxy in quick succession, this is made all the more easier through the use of Psionic gates.
Which despite being similar in purpose, there are considerable differences, Psionic gates are powered by universal psionic energy whilst the Stargates require a power source of some kind. But the great difference between the two, is that Psionic gates are limited in how far they can go, it has been proven that Psionic gates are only really capable of transporting a person within a solar system whilst the stargates are able to produce wormholes that can stretch from one side of the galaxy to the other.
Although the SGC was under the authority of XCOM, there are some concerns from members of the Global Council that since the SGC has established Civilian settlements through the Stargate, there should be civilian oversight of the SGC and that any decisions should not be solely the purview of the military.
Despite its misgivings and the doubts of many who feel that XCOM should not be the one in charge of the SGC and believe that the Stargate should come under the control of a committee under the Global Council, the SGC has had considerable victories in its exploration of the Stargate network so far. They have confirmed that the Stargates were not built by the Elders as had previously been believed, but were in fact merely used by the Elders as and when they saw fit. As well as this, the SGC has managed to gain friendly relations with other Aliens species that either were ignored by the Elders, not been discovered by them or had been resisting them in their own manner.
Although the few species that are sentient and are willing to negotiate with Earth, are unwilling to become firm and supportive allies, they are deemed friendly by the SGC and have become limited trade partners. Something that the Global Council is concerned about as, there is still tension between humans, hybrids and aliens on Earth and there are fears that adding more aliens into the picture could cause more trouble and discord, so the SGC has been ordered to only host trade and non aggression negotiations and nothing more without the Global Councils permission.
The Stargate Facility:
The Stargate facility was formally an Advent Site that was being used to transport a great amount of resources from places that the Elders had practically stripped bare, but eventually the site was refitted to be more Glamourous and more fitting for Advents image of the Elders being more akin to Gods. So rather it being within a old fashioned military facility that was more akin to an image of the old world that Advent did so much to discredit, they made it more open more extravagant even.
Eventually the facility under Advent was more like an active settlement within itself all built around the Gate room, which itself was made of two main floors, the Gate itself sat on one side with a large walkway leading to it, stairs on either side, opposite the gate was a large stair well that led up to the second floor, which held the Gate control room to the left and the Commanders Quarters. Connected to this through a variety of different corridors and hallways were stairwells, elevators that all came to one of several levels where different rooms were placed.
These rooms were all kinds, originally just laboratories where the work on the Avatar Project was compiled on behalf of the Elders, to quarters for the Advent soldiers, scientists and engineers that worked in the facility, a fully functional kitchen and dining area. Alongside the protected areas such as security stations.
The base whilst still looking relatively the same has been changed a considerable amount under XCOM, certain areas have been refitted to serve different species, allowing different aliens to be able to relax more easily or get some rest. The various labs that once focused on how to liquidate humanity for the Elders pleasure, were each repurposed into different roles, each focused on different areas of study. So just like the XCOM of old, anything brought back by the teams could be properly examined, studied, analysed, researched for science and knowledge.
The different armouries were refitted to fit more modern technologies and a variety of weapons for the different species, parts of the Barracks were retrofitted to be able to provide better comfort for the different Aliens. Recreational areas were put in to provide places for the different teams as well as other personnel to have a chance to relax and have some fun. Quarantine and decontamination chambers and sections were built in nearby for new security, chemical and biohazard protocols, any off world personnel were to go through before re-joining the base.
Efforts were made to make the base as self sufficient as possible in certain areas, an entire level was converted into greenhouses for various crops, this facility was divided in two, half would produce crops suitable for Hybrids and humans whilst the other would serve to provide edible crops for the different Alien species. A section was even retrofitted with various lab equipment that enabled the production of a variety of synthetic meats to sustain a balanced diet. The intent of ensuring as much self sufficiency for the Stargate Program was a fail safe, since there was the evident present possibility that the base may have to go into lock down.
Major General George Hammond:
A survivor of the original XCOM from the days of the Elders invasion, General Hammond was the officer in command of several elements of XCOMs military forces, notably the air power that the organisation had at the time. When the Elders overwhelmed the governments of Earth however, this changed dramatically, his command was shrunk drastically with the losses they suffered each and every day. Eventually XCOM collapsed with the fall of its primary base of operations and the loss of the Commander, Hammond was lucky in that he was stationed at another site, which served as the main base for most of XCOMs aerial strength.
He alongside a number of military personnel refused to surrender and salvaged what they could from various facilities and bases before Advent could take control of them. They then retreated and stayed in hiding for a period of time, only coming out from the shadows to conduct guerrilla warfare actions against Advent. At some point they picked up an XCOM transmission and Hammond responded to finally come once again face to face with Central Officer Bradford.
As part of the resistance, Hammond worked mostly in helping Central and later the Commander organise the different resistance cells and elements within the network across the world. When needed though he wasn't afraid of picking up a weapon and helping to protect the Avenger when Advent tried to take it. When the war was ignited once again, Hammond was tasked by the Commander to lead XCOM units in securing Advent airbases and starports, not just to prevent the Aliens from using their air power but also to secure vehicles and ships themselves to counter any alien or advent craft.
Following the war, he was chosen specifically by the Commander to serve as the commanding officer of the Stargate facility, Hammond rather liked the job as during the first few years it was mostly just keeping an eye of the facility and ensuring security was maintained. This changed with the beginning of the Stargate Program and Stargate Command, when the time had come to choose who would be the officer in command of the SGC, the Commander requested Hammond, noting that he was an officer whom they trusted to do the job.
As the Officer in Command of the SGC, Hammond serves as the head of the program and all personnel within, he is to work from the SGC headquarters on Earth in the Stargate Facility. His jobs are to assign teams to specific missions, oversee all aspects of the programs running and ensure that protocols are followed. Hammond himself is quite taken with the post, though he tries to maintain an element of distance between him and the people under his command, make no mistake, General Hammond is not afraid to get his hands dirty if it means protecting those within the SGC.
S.G Teams:
Although plans were placed and followed through for the creation of off world sites, including outposts and even settlements that were to serve a variety of different causes. The primary task force for the S.G.C were its Stargate or "SG" teams, elite units of soldiers, scientist, engineers and experts of all species, both human, hybrid and alien.
They serve as the frontline units in the exploration via the Stargates, they go through to identified planets and conduct recon missions to evaluate and explore the planets and if required handle any dangers as and when they arise. If the planets held promise for the establishment of an outpost or settlement, then they were also the ones to identify possible locations for the placement of such sites.
Information on Stargate settlements, sites and outposts to follow.
Although XCOM has done its best to build unified teams made up of the different species that now live together on Earth, old wounds run deep, resulting in most teams being focused around one of three, Humans, Hybrids and Aliens. SG Teams also range in size, in regards of how many people are part of the active team, though this can be mixed, as often SG teams are not always going out together in the field, some may stay behind and serve a support role such as SG scientist or researcher in support of their team.
Another danger is that although SG Teams primarily operate through the Stargate there are occasions where they have had to undergo missions on Earth, specifically against threats to Earth, such as the reborn EXALT Organisation that has begun to show a renewed effort in destabilising the planet for their own ends.
Information to follow.
And SG teams are not just explorers, they are also required on a rota system to serve as security teams for the smaller sites and outposts established by the SGC, as these places are often not large enough for a full time protecting unit of soldiers or they are not thought of as important enough when compared to places like Civilian settlements or military bases.
SG-1:
Team Leader: Colonel Jack O'Neill
Team Size: 19
The first and only mixed group SG Team as well as the largest on paper, SG-1 was founded alongside the actual SGC, commanded by Colonel Jack O'Neill, its one of the biggest SG teams but is not exactly the best when it comes to working with others. Since SG1 has a lot of members as well as the fact it has Hybrids, Humans and Aliens among them, it has made it an unofficial poster child for the Global Council, proof that we can work together.
Despite the fact that they are seen as the Poster image for the S.G.C and the Global Council as a whole, in terms of cooperation and unity among the people of Earth. SG-1 doesn't see themselves that way, as far as they are concerned they are working to protect the Earth and their fellow SG teams, when one team was in trouble SG-1 was the first to volunteer to go in and back them up.
In terms of evaluation, it is noted that the members of SG-1 despite sometimes having issues with one another often enjoy each others company are regard themselves as an extended family. They are known to sit together in the canteen, practice and train together and even spend their leisure time in friendly competitions.
Although tension is known to be between SG-1 and the other teams on occasion, it has never gone beyond anything other than a small squabble and borderline feud over who is better. Some SG teams are mistrustful of SG-1, mostly because they are mistrustful of Aliens or of people who have no qualms about Aliens and Hybrids, SG-1 has always made clear though that Earth is now more than just humans and if the Elders return those that the Elders enslaved have a much bigger reason to fight back.
SG-2:
Team Leader: Colonel Danny Horn
Team Size: 12
Under the Command of Colonel Danny Horn, the unit comprises entirely of XCOM Veterans from the war, from various skill sets, SG-2 has rangers, sharpshooters, grenadiers, specialists which include technical and medical specialists as well as one or two Psi operatives, all of them veterans from the days of the Resistance or from the war of liberation.
Horn himself was a veteran of both, serving aboard the Avenger as part of an XCOM team, going on several missions for the Resistance against the Aliens, he knows fiercely the danger the Elders present to Earth. When the war of Liberation began, Horn was sent by the XCOM commander to link up with Resistance forces fighting in and around Los Angeles and aid in the cities liberation. He suffered injuries due to this battle, resulting him having a prosthetic eye and both of his legs, the first from a plasma shot scratching his face and the latter from a plasma grenade.
When the SGC was established, Horn was selected and agreed to become a member its military branch, when the teams were being set up, his experience as a soldier and leader was recognised and he was given command of SG-2. As with other team leaders he was permitted to select the members of his team, Horn decided to go with an all human team made up of soldiers from XCOM.
Though SG-2 does perform missions such as exploration, they also serve as the part time security team for the smaller SGC outposts and stations that have been established but are not large enough to have a full time defence unit, They do this in conjunction with other teams on a rota system.
SG-3:
Team Leader: Baytor
Team Size: 9
Consisting entirely of Hybrids specifically those who had served and fought for the Skirmisher during the Occupation and then during the War for Liberation. SG-3 is commanded by Captain Baytor, who was among the first to join the Skirmisher faction after Betos started the movement, like Betos, Baytor suffered a minor fault in the chip that controlled all Advent Hybrid units. She served as a front line commander in the Skirmishers, leading several raids and attacks against Advent and the Elders through the years of the occupation, when XCOM ignited the war to take back Earth. Baytor led Skirmishers into battle in City 40 now rechristened Houston in Texas. After the Liberation, she linked up with XCOM and served as a guard at the now famous Geneva Trials, where she ensured that those humans and hybrids that conducted crimes against the planet were kept secure for the trials.
When the S.G.C was established, she volunteered without a second thought, in Baytors mind, its a means of ensuring the victory that Earth has won. On the one hand its a way of creating a form of interplanetary defence away from Earth and if the Elders are encountered. well, it means that XCOM can take the fight to them directly.
And Baytor wants to be there when the "Imposter Gods" finally fall.
SG-3 is often looked on as one of the most militaristic units of the SGC, with all of the team members selected by Baytor being from the Skirmishers and all of them being battle hardened soldiers and fighter. None of the unit possesses any scientific experience, though one or two possess engineering and technical expertise. Although all SG teams undergo exploratory and evaluation missions as well as research expeditions, SG-3 is more often given the tasks of guarding the smaller outposts and stations established by the SGC.
Team Leader: Knight Commander Firenze
Team Size: 9
Consisting of entirely of individuals with advanced Psionic abilities, SG-4 is entirely a Psionic group, which has led to them gaining the nick name the "Psychotic Psionics", mostly as a joke among the other SG teams, though SG-4 have no issue with the name and actually find it funny themselves.
Led by Firenze, who was formerly a Knight commander of the Templar resistance faction during the Occupation, Firenze is an advanced and highly capable Psionic operative. He joined the Templars during the early years of the occupation by the Elders and through them he gained his Psionic abilities and trained vigorously in their techniques.
He was selected among other Templar members to work directly with XCOM against the Elders and Advent, where he served as part of an XCOM team in a number of different missions as well as aiding XCOMs own psionic operatives in harnessing their abilities and teaching them a few techniques. When XCOM won the war however the Templars practically vanished with all of their members retreating to some unknown gathering that had been called by the factions leader, Geist.
Firenze and a few others however refused to heed the call though, he decided to remain with XCOM aiding in the interrogation of Advent war criminals before the famed Geneva Trials. After that he joined the XCOM academy as an instructor in Psionics, he was then selected for the Stargate Program and judged capable enough to be a team leader.
As with all team leaders, Firenze was allowed to choose his own team from among those selected the best choices for the program. He primarily chose others like him, former members of the Templar faction as well as other Psionic operatives, specifically those he trained, he detailed that he chose them because "I know what they are capable of and what they aren't".
SG-5:
Team Leader: Major Annabelle Leveux
Team Size: 15
Major Leveux herself is a veteran of XCOM serving as a scientist aboard the Avenger and when required she wasn't against picking up a rifle and helping the rest of the crew whenever the Aliens managed to find and cripple the Avenger. Though primarily her main work was with Chief engineer Shen in the Avenger engineering bay where she worked diligently to figure out the different alien technologies to better help XCOM in the fight.
When she wasn't studying Alien tech, she helped out in the Infirmary treating the injured as and when required, though this was mostly done by machines and engineers, there was always a need for a scientific medic. When the war of liberation began, Major Leveux was given a new role as a medical co-ordinator, she was sent with a team of XCOM soldiers, engineers and medics to a resistance camp in France where she worked to help the refugees who were fleeing the Advent controlled cities.
After the victory, Major Leveux stayed on with XCOM working under its medical research programs, this was changed when she was invited into the SGC, from her record of work for XCOM both during the occupation and the war, she was chosen to lead her own team. Though she chose individuals with some combat training, Leveux mostly picked people she noted to have scientific experience, so in effect she turned SG-5 into a research team.
SG-5 consists of geologists, astrologists, chemist, biologists, physicists, a medical expert, computer scientist, a mathematician and a scientific engineer. However the fact that although all the members of SG-5 have appropriate military training, SGC have recognised that very few of them have proper experience in battle. So as a precaution, SG-5 are often the team that are sent either to planets through the stargate after another team has done a precursory expedition or accompany another more military focused team.
SG-6:
Team Leader: Captain Miya Cikuq (Ice)
Team Size: 9
A team made up of hardened survivors and expert marksmen, SG-6 is a unit whose members all come from the same resistance group from the days of the occupation and the war. Every member of SG-6 are from the Reaper resistance faction, a group of survivalists that used to look upon the aliens as little more than something to roast over a fire for food.Under the leadership of Captain Miya Cikuq, the team comprises of some of the best fighters that the Reapers had during the Occupation and War for liberation. SG-6 has hardened marksmen and adept explosive experts all of whom are masters in the art of camouflage and long range recon, something that SG-6 has become well known for, missions that require stealth and surprise above all else.
Captain Miya Cikuq herself was a survivor, she was born a year after the initial invasion and spent her entire life on the run, he family joined the Reapers, so it was very rare for Captain Cikuq to have any time to be a child. For her apparently, school was learning how to strip down a sniper rifle and put back together again, science class was learning how to handle explosives and how they were to be used.
By the time that XCOM was reformed and the Reapers joined the growing resistance network under XCOMs leadership, Captain Cikuq was more than a capable leader of soldiers, though she didn't often work with XCOM during the Occupation, she did her duty in keeping the fight going in the wilderness of the world. During the War for Liberation, she led a contingent of Reapers out of the wilderness and into the Advent cities where she fought fiercely to deal the final blow.
Apparently as with nearly all of the Reapers, the post war period was rather harsh on her, as they had spent so long fighting that many didn't know what to do with themselves. Miya decided to join up with XCOM where she served in helping to hunt down War criminals around the world, she was then selected and offered a chance to join the SGC.
Due to the combined experiences of SG-6 in stealth and infiltration, the SGC often have SG-6 conduct long range recon missions onto planets normally in advance of a science team. However it has been noted that SG-6 has some trouble when it comes to working with other SG teams, notably those teams that are either Hybrid or Alien. Which is understandable as only a few years ago all Aliens and Hybrids were enemies to be shot and killed without a second thought, there was and still is little interest in being friends with them.
SG-7:
Team Leader: Dr Jata (Celestial Star)
Team Size: 11
A specialised team of engineers, scientists and soldiers, SG-7 is a team that specialises in the establishment of settlement sites for the SGC. They will perform closer examination of sites that have been designated by other SG teams on planets that have been explored, they on the other hand conduct closer observations of the sites to make detailed reports.SG-7 works in a more detailed manner, taking everything into account to judge whether or not a site is properly viable for the SGC to set up an outpost, base or settlement. Under the team leadership of Dr Jata, SG-7 is very methodical in its work and detailed in its reports, he himself served as a researcher and scientist for the Resistance during the days of the Occupation and then worked for XCOM following the victory against the Elders, where he worked to categorise the different pieces of technology into what was dangerous and what wasn't.
He was offered a post at the SGC at first as a researcher, but as the number of planets capable of being explored became more evident, Dr Jata asked to go out on expeditions and against the opinions of others, he was given leadership of his own team.
As with other team leaders he was allowed to pick the members of his team, but since he lacks combat experience in the proper form. He was required to choose a selection of both civilian and military personnel, so SG-7 comprises of scientists, engineers and soldiers.
Primarily SG-7 works as a follow on team, visiting planets that have already been explored but have potential for habitation, so for instance if another SG team identifies a location that could serve as a settlement site. Then SG-7 would visit it along with research and engineering teams to make full examinations on the area, such as are there any weather effects that could effect the settlement, is there a viable source of clean water and of course if it is to serve as a long term habitation site, then does the area possess fertile soil for either Alien or Earth crops to grow.
SG-8:
Team Leader: Vole
Team Size: 8
The first team formed to be led by an Alien, SG-8 was also the first to be made up entirely of aliens, a mix of, Sectoids, Archons, a single Andromedon and even a spectre, making it unique in terms of the SGC.Led by the Sectoid, Vole, the team is a good mix of capable soldiers and researchers, for among their members is a Xeno-botanists, basically someone who knows about alien plant life, specifically those that are safe for aliens to use as sources of food. Vole himself was a member of a clandestine movement of Aliens, known as the Liberated, this was an underground movement of Aliens that primarily acted as spies and saboteurs for the Resistance from within the ranks of the Aliens themselves.
Vole himself was freed through the Liberated Network not long after XCOM was reformed, he served as an agent in North Africa and parts of Europe, passing along information and intelligence on the inner workings of Advent to local resistance groups as well as XCOM. His information proved worthwhile during a global operation known as Operation Rehearsal, where at the same time across the planet Resistance group launched a co-ordinated attack against Advent.
Following the victory against the Elders and the surrender of Advent, Vole surrendered to XCOM formally and allowed himself to be placed in protective custody along with other members of the Liberated. Later he was released among the first wave during the Integration of Aliens and Hybrids back into the populace, like a number of other "Liberated", Vole joined up with XCOM and became a Xeno-Botanist and Xeno-Biologist.
He was invited into the SGC due to these credentials, he accepted being a team leader for the SGC, as he was interested in the possibilities that sit beyond the stargate, not just as a botanist but as an Alien specifically.
SG-9:
Team Leader: Major Lydie Clair
Team Size: 16
SG-9 was established to serve dual roles, the first is similar in regards of SG-2, 3, 6 and 11 they serve a military role but in a defensive manner.Though they do perform missions that include exploration and scientific discovery, the team doesn't have any actual research personnel, it is comprised of soldiers and engineers. The exploration missions they perform are usually them escorting a research team and ensuring their safety, SG-9 itself specialises in first set ups. Meaning when a site has been identified for possible habitation and SG-7 confirms that the site is viable, then SG-9 will be sent to set up the preliminary camp at the location.
They will set up temporary defences such as automated turrets and keep watch over the area until the main construction crew arrives. Then they will provide security as well as assistance in the initial construction effort, when the 1st stage of construction is completed this is the usual que for SG-9 to start packing up and return to SGC.
Led by Major Lydie Clair, who has served in XCOM since the war of liberation, before that she served with resistance groups across western Europe. She spent much of her time doing construction for the Resistance havens and settlements that they protected in the wilderness far from Advent Cities, but when she needed too, she would pick up a rifle and take the fight to Advent directly either by taking part in ambushes and raids or by helping to fight off Advent retaliations on the havens.
During the war, she was identified as being Psionically gifted, she was offered a chance to join XCOM which she accepted where she learned to master her psionics but unlike others who wanted to use it to fight the Aliens. Major Clair desired to use her Psionics to help in the rebuilding, she became gifted in psionic levitation specifically of heavy loads making moving supplies from one spot to another very helpful especially when there wasn't a crane or forklift nearby.
SG-10:
Team Leader: Serina
Team Size: 8
Nicknamed the Valkyries, SG-10 is comprised entirely of aliens from the Viper species and since all known vipers are female, the name has stuck. The team is a special unit that is best when it comes to long range scouting in hot climates such as deserts and jungles, the team showed their knack for the job during an expedition where they located the site that would become Sahara station.
Led by the Viper Serina, SG-10 has learned to work well with others, Serina herself was a soldier for the Elders during the invasion and then began serving as a frontline soldier in the regions of the Sahara desert hunting Resistance elements. This changed when XCOM reformed and managed to get the war going, though she fought for the other side, Serina surrendered following the liberation of Cairo.
She would spend the year in prison alongside a great number of her kind, she was given a thorough interview and proper evaluation and after much consideration she was allowed to reintegrate into society. However she got bored and formally requested to join XCOM, at first she served in war games for the training of XCOM soldiers. Eventually she became a tutor at the XCOM academy teaching the scouting and hunting techniques that she used during the Occupation against the Resistance.
Serina was selected for the SGC due to her experience as a scout and long range recon specialist, as with other team leaders, she was allowed to select her teams members. Knowing that she was likely going to perform long range missions on other planets, she requested to have a team like her, made up of vipers, specifically those with experiences like her. As well as these elite scouts, she chose some other vipers with medical knowledge, scientific fields and an engineer, making it 5 scouts, 1 medic, 1 scientists and 1 engineer.
SG-11:
Team Leader: Maero
Team Size: 10
Similar in regards to SG units 8 and 10, SG-11 is a team that consists entirely of Aliens, mostly Mutons, Berserkers, a Sectoid and an Archon. The teams consists of heavy hitters when it comes to a good fight but they do possess some other fields.SG-11 is led by Maero, a muton who had served during the initial invasion of Earth including taking part in the assault on the original XCOM base where the Commander was captured. Maero however was later recruited into the Liberated Movement, a group of Aliens that through some help had become free of the Elders Psionic network and desired to fight back. Maero himself served aboard the Avenger after he was rescued by XCOM following discovery of him being a spy for the resistance.
He would take part in several engagements against the Elders and Advent including risking his life in protecting Resistance Havens from Advent retaliations, which earned him respect by the humans aboard the Avenger. Following the war, he like other members of the Liberated surrendered willingly to XCOM and were among the first to be reintegrated into society.
Maero was offered a position in SGC based on his experience working for XCOM over the years, he like other team leaders was permitted to select the members of his team. He chose a group who like him had served in the Liberated Resistance movement during the years of the Occupation and then further during the War of Liberation.
The members range in experience and duties, they include a engineer, a medic, a scientists, a botanist, yet all had done some fighting during the war. And all have the same hope for the Stargate Program, that through it those who don't want to live on Earth can find themselves a nice place to live.
The Members of SG-1:
The first of the SGC teams and a rather unique one, it is probably best to describe the team by using a report from the Global Council investigator after an evaluation by the Global Council.
[Authors note: I took inspiration for this bit from an episode of NCIS, A Man walks into a Bar]
"Central Officer Bradford,
Lets just say that this Evaluation has been an experience for me.
Spending time with your teams has been rather Enlightening, shall we call it, before I came to the SGC. Lets just say I had some expectations, I expected to find clear divisions between everyone, Humans vs Aliens vs Hybrids and so on.
And honestly I found exactly that, the teams often seem to almost be in competition with one another and didn't seem to get along.
But SG-1 showed me something else, I will admit that in clinical terms they are without a doubt an absolute disaster. But maybe that's why it works, why they! work.
That selfless dysfunction is probably why they have managed to do so much for each other and proven something more. Its clear to me that we all have to react to life's challenges, in different ways, SG-1 is definitely no exception.
Some of them have recognised their fate, whilst others have made the choice to alter it, they have defied others expectations and risen to go far beyond meeting them. But the constant is being true themselves.
They have become more than a team, they have become a family.
Its why SG-1 succeeds."
Colonel Jonathon "Jack" O'Neill:
Species: Human
Role: Team Leader
A soldier for most of his life, Colonel O'Neill was formerly a member of the United States Airforce but was recruited into the XCOM project during the opening days of the Alien Invasion. He served at the Primary XCOM base at Site X in North America, where he primarily operated as a frontline soldier, leading his own team against Alien Incursions. He was fortunate in that he was not at the base when the Aliens launched their attack and utterly destroyed XCOM, following that and without any new orders or back up plans, he led what remained of his team on the run, staying constantly on the move to avoid being discovered by Advent.
At the first possibility he went back home to find his family, sadly he discovered there that his son had died during the invasion, while his wife had been taken to an Advent controlled city. He would eventually find her years later and the two agreed to a full separation and divorce after the war.
Things changed when he ran into the former Central Officer of XCOM, Bradford himself, upon learning that XCOM was being reformed to unify the resistance network across the planet and start the fight once again. O'Neill signed back up alongside the other survivors he had been helping, now again fighting for XCOM and humanity, O'Neill became an officer under Central primarily guarding and patrolling the area around the Avenger until it was fully operational and able to move.
Though he would work aboard the Avenger from time to time, he spent much of his time working with local Resistance groups that had joined XCOM, he would be the officer in charge of co-ordinating XCOM and the resistance at a regional level. When the war began he was both operating from behind the lines helping to organise resistance efforts but he primarily liked to be up at the front, fighting alongside the people under his command.
Colonel O'Neill usually worked in Surgical strikes against Advent and Alien weak points that would give resistance units a better fighting chance in ousting the occupation. After the war, he was stationed at an XCOM Air base in North America, which was formerly the Advent Stargate facility, he led the first successful expedition through the Stargates but due to the planet still attempting to rebuild.
O'Neill was forced to take on a desk job for the following years until the program was started up again, since he had experience not just with the Stargate but also as a leader, he was selected to be the commanding officer of the 1st SG Team. Unlike other team leaders who stuck to one particular grouping, human, hybrid or Alien, O'Neill who had worked with all three in the past during the occupation and again in the war, wanted to work with people that he knew, people he knew he could trust.
Also stated was that O'Neill was careful in his selection of the team members, he knew that most would have expected him being from the military to choose people like him. But O'Neill went out of his way to select people with a wide range of skills and experiences regardless whether they were human or not.
Colonel O'Neill has been noted in a report that he regards SG-1 as his friends and his family, that he would gladly give his life for them if the need ever arises. Psych reports show that despite his history as a soldier, he uses dry humour to build relationships and prefers casual, direct approaches. Despite being an experienced officer, it has been noted that Colonel O'Neill recognises the limits of his own expertise and encourages those around him notably his subordinates to be flexible and gives them the freedom to develop solutions to problems they face.
He has been noted to spend much time with his subordinates outside of active duties, often inviting them out on excursions for fun. Outside of active duties, Colonel O'Neill is know to frequent a log cabin he owns in an undisclosed location where he often partakes in his favourite past times, fishing and stargazing with his old telescope.
Agora:
Species: Hybrid:
Role: Scientific Analysis
Cloned on Earth during the mid years of Advents reign, Agora had a minor fault in the chip that controlled her, this is suspected to have occurred before she was taken out of her cloning tank and before the Advent Indoctrination was implanted. From the moment she woke up, she had her own consciousness and refused to accept Advents authority, she managed to break out by herself and went on the run.She was found by the Skirmishers not long after, who had intended to attack the facility in order to free other Hybrids before Advent could indoctrinate them. Since Agora was intended to serve in the role of an Officer, she was able to give the Skirmishers a full layout of the facility as well as a detailed accounting of its defences.
Following this raid, she became a hardened fighter for the Skirmisher faction of the Resistance leading raids and attacks against Advent in various locations across the world. When the Skirmishers joined up with XCOM to drive the Elders off the planet for good, she went to work aboard the Avenger, not just as a soldier but also as a scientist and engineer to help the Resistance find a more equal footing in the fight.
It was during her time aboard the Avenger that she came to meet Colonel O'Neil and the two formed a good friendship, with O'Neill passing along details on how the weapons and equipment that Agora helped to make were doing and where they could be improved. When the war kicked off properly, she left the Avenger to link back up with the Skirmishers in the battles to come.
After the SGC was formed properly and not just as a small contingent of soldiers set to guard the Stargate, she was chosen as one of the potential candidates to serve as part of the SG Teams. Agora was selected by her old friend Colonel Jack O'Neill to serve two roles, the first being the second in command of the team and the second was as one of the teams scientists.
In essence during SG-1 expeditions she identifies things that could be of use in terms of scientific research or anything that could be of great importance for the SGC for research or more in-depth analysis. She is regarded as very thorough in her work as well as in her reports for the SGC, when she is not working in the field, Agora is more than willing to support research personnel in the SGC labs back on Earth.
It has become a running theme that it is very common for her to "Pull all nighters" and that it is often the duty of other members of SG-1 to make her take some time off and relax for a while without any worries.
Berk:
Species: Berserker
Role: Heavy Weight
A strong fighter and fierce warrior, Berk by clear point of sight is a Berserker, one of the toughest species under control of the Elders, these beings were unpredictable and prone to heightened aggression.
Berk is very much similar to his kind, he is sometimes quick to anger and violence but since his liberation, he has begun seeking a means of calming his inborn, genetic instincts that were only heightened by the Elders genetic tampering. Berk doesn't really have much memory from before he was Earth, according to data from the Advent network, he was born on one of the transport ships that came to Earth during and after the Invasion, but he doesn't have any idea of his life.
He knows that under the Elders he took part in several brutal attacks against human cities during the Invasion and then being used as a shock trooper against the Resistance. Despite this though, he was eventually freed of the Elders control by the Liberated Resistance Movement under the XCOM commander. He fled the Advent controlled cities and linked up with a Liberated Cell where he served as a heavy weight fighter, handling powerful weapons like those used by the Advent Mecs.
When the war was truly started, he joined up with a combined force of Liberated and other resistance groups under XCOMs direct command. Though he took several hits during the battles he took part in, many reports state that he was of great help in breaking through Advent defensive positions. Like all other members of the Liberated, Berk surrendered to XCOM following the end of the war and allowed himself to be taken to a secure facility where he was to be held.
During this time, there was a request for Berserker volunteers to take part in a trial, where a special device would be implanted within them with the intention of suppressing their genetic aggression. Berk volunteered wishing to end his constant violent tendencies, in fact he was one of only 3 and all were considered partial successes, although Berk still has bouts of aggression, he reports that he is able to control himself better when reacting from an injury or provocation.
Following his release from internment, he was offered a place in guarding those Berserkers and Mutons that were not deemed safe for reintroduction into society. He would work here for a while until the SGC was established and Berk was chosen to be brought in as a member of SG-1, where he serves as one of the teams heavy hitters, handling heavy weapons and serving as a rear guard should the team need it.
Borz:
Species: Hybrid
Role: Communications Expert
A former member of the Skirmisher Resistance movement, Borz didn't really see much in the way of direct combat, though he was a true believer of ousting the Elders and overthrowing Advent, he worked more from the shadows. The Skirmisher faction of the resistance operated not just in open fighting but also behind the scenes, with various inside agents and operatives passing along information to them, Borz was one such operative and he was among of the best placed. Whilst under Advents service, Borz served as a guard and technician for the Advent communication network, ensuring that all Advent units maintained the ability to co-ordinate their actions.
With his knowledge of the Advent network, Borz made it possible for the resistance to hide their communications and maintain their secrecy without anyone in Advent ever realising that their own communications served the Resistance efforts. When possible Borz passed on warnings to the Resistance of Advent retaliation strikes as well as passing to XCOM what Advent was up to try and counter the growing strength of the Resistance.
As the War of Liberation began, Borz openly defected to the Resistance where he joined up with XCOM and began instantly working on improving the communications that they had. He improved the communications systems aboard the Avenger and provided details on how to improve the relays the Resistance had across the planet. It was during this time that he came to meet Colonel O'Neill and although the two are very different, the two did become reluctant friends.
With the victory against the Elders and Advent, Borz was asked to stay with XCOM to help in the rebuilding efforts as well as the dismantling of the Advent military facilities. Later with the establishment of the Stargate Program, Borz was requested to assist in the establishment of a viable communications system for the SGC main base that would enable them to maintain communications with outbound teams.
Later he was requested to become a member of SG-1 chosen by Colonel O'Neill himself, who desired to have Borz on the team where he would serve as the teams communications specialist. His job was to ensure that the teams coms systems were always working and properly encrypted so that no one could listen in. Borz take this very seriously, insisting that he perform thorough diagnostics and maintenance of all coms after each and every mission regardless of what might have or not have happened.
Though is very strict in his actions and very clear in his speech, Borz is genuinely a caring individual, during the war, he and another Hybrid resistance member practically adopted a young girl who was orphaned by an Advent Retaliation, they found her after the attack and took her in, gave her food and made sure she was looked after. Since then the pair of them take turns watching over her and looking out for her, even though she is now in high school, they still try and help out whenever they can.
Bugsy:
Species: Chrysalid
Role: Geological Study
Not all Chrysalids are mindless beasts and monsters, some are capable of advanced thinking and a few have even managed to obtain sentience. Bugsy is one such Chrysalid, he was one of countless of his species that obtained sentience when they were augmented by the Elders with human DNA, whilst other Chrysalids were merely more deadly, it made some capable of understanding their actions and obtain a level of Consciousness.Don't ask how he got the name Bugsy, its rather stupid.
He became a part of the underground rebellion within the Chrysalid species, specifically individuals like him who were entirely sentient and capable of resisting the Elders control over their minds. Later this rebellion became a part of the Liberated Resistance faction and then absorbed into XCOM during the later days of the Occupation and later the War of Liberation.
Due to the difficulties of him being a Chrysalid, he was never actual able to serve as a frontline fighter but did contribute to the war effort. Since he gained his freedom, he became an avid student of Geology and similar fields to the point that he became an expert, with his knowledge he gave information on how to best deal with Advent and Aliens bases embedded in mountains such as the infamous "Nut" in the Rocky Mountains of North America.
Later he gave detailed descriptions and a rough layout on Chrysalid hive structures so that XCOM could easily destroy hives that had been built by the now feral chrysalids across the world. When the SGC was established, Bugsy was invited to be originally a researcher for the Program, where he would work in the scientific labs going over geological samples brought back by the SG teams.
However he was then asked to be a supporting member of SG-1, though this means he does have to go out in the field, Bugsy never actually has to engage in combat unless absolutely necessary. He has been recognised for his meticulous work, in which he has verified the viability of soil on several worlds and the mineral composition on others which have been of help both for research as well as the establishment of outposts and stations.
Bugsy is known in SG-1 as a bit of a Workaholic as he finds it the only real thing he can do, noting in several attempts to invite him out for drinks, food and celebrations, that all people ever do is watch him and be afraid of him. Though he understands why, he hopes that through the Stargate program a suitable planet could be found where Sentient Chrysalids like him to establish a new colony of their own, where they can live a bit more comfortably.
Chess:
Species: Sectoid
Role: Stargate Research
A Sectoid from the days of the Invasion, Chess was originally a Sectoid that served the Elders goal of ensuring humanities loyalty to Advent and by extension them. So he served the role of using his psionics to influence the minds of leading figures across the world to preach the advantages of Advent as well as make them identify those individuals that might challenge the establishment and power of Advent.Later with the "Implantation" of a Stargate on the planet, Chess was placed at the facility to ensure that the Stargate worked properly and as intended, enabling the Elders to bring in various materials from off world sites they had abandoned as well as ensuring that the Gate was at the ready should anything happen.
After Advent was defeated and the Elders were forced to flee the planet, Chess was captured by XCOM or more specifically he surrendered himself and the Stargate Facility to XCOM. Though he was technically a prisoner, he was used to decrypt various pieces of information and data that the facility had on the Stargate, since most of the aliens or hybrids that had worked on the Stargate were very few by the end of the war, so there was a need for someone who knew what the gate was and how to work it.
Eventually he was put through the examination process that deemed that he was was a viable candidate for reintegration into society and immediately was asked to work on the Stargate Project. This was before the Program became as it is now and was more a project of custodians guarding and maintaining the gate, when the Program became a reality, Chess was offered to stay on as an expert in the Stargates as he knew how they worked and how to organise the dialling sequence to establish stable wormholes.
He was asked to become a member of the SG-1 team by the personal choice of Colonel O'Neill who wanted to have someone on his team that knew the Stargates, but also because he knew that on expeditions through the gate there would always be the danger that something could go wrong with the gates on the other side. Though hesitant at first, since he has seen very little action outside of the Stargate Facility, he accepted the proposal and has become a keen explorer for the SGC.
Though he is a more than capable Psionic being a Sectoid, he has made clear that he has limited combat experience as he mostly used his Psionics to communicate between the aliens and hybrids of the Stargate facility, when it was controlled by the Elders. His true value is in regards of calculations for the Stargates, he has memorised the different destinations and the symbols that are required to dial into the DHD [dial home device] in order for the team to get back safely even when they on an entirely different planet with different symbols.
It took a while but he has been able to fit in with the team, becoming a close friend and "brother", often enjoying playing games and enjoying activities with everyone, though his favourite game has very few challengers. Mostly because no one really trusts him not to read their minds when they play Chess together.
Covert:
Species: Human - Gene Modified
Role: Covert Operator
Real name, Jason Woodthorn, Covert is a human with a long history of covert operations, he was a member of the organisation known as Exalt, like his father, grand-father and great grand-father before him. Supposedly Coverts family have been members of the organisation for centuries, if the supposed histories of Exalt are to be believed.Covert was only entering his teenage years when the Invasion occurred, his father and other members of Exalt were activated to serve the "Cause", mostly by inflicting trouble for XCOM and the Council of Nations. This changed though when EXALTs headquarters was uncovered by XCOM and the organisation was forced into hiding, when ADVENT took power, EXALT was practically powerless, the very technologies that they wished to use to obtain power were now almost readily available.
As Covert detailed in his reports, EXALT remained a clandestine organisation, working in secret to support resistance groups, all in the hope that through anarchy EXALT could gain the advantage it needed to seize power. unfortunately again XCOM ruined their fun, by the end of the War of Liberation, EXALT started to work in secret for their ultimate goal once again, but Covert had become very sceptical of EXALT and surrendered, giving up much information on its operations, which enabled the Global Council to bring down a number of cells.
After this, he volunteered his services to XCOM and the SGC, though he had to undergo several tests, Covert was eventually permitted to become an agent for the SGC, he was later picked out to be a member of SG-1, Colonel O'Neill selected him apparently because he felt that the team needed someone who knew how to lie, how to hide and how to operate from the shadows.
Though he still struggles to fit in, Covert has slowly begun to build trust within the SGC and specifically in SG-1, his skills in a fight but also in interrogation have proved useful whenever the team has come into contact with splinter groups that threat earths safety. Whilst he mostly keeps to himself, he does attempt to mingle with the other team members, with all of them saying that he is a "Whizz" at card games and possesses a master Poker Face.
Csilla:
Species: Viper
Role: Scout
Bred and hatched on Earth in the Jungles of South America, Csilla was a Viper with a long history of hunting and scouting for the Elders, she served as a scout to locate and identify Resistance encampments within the jungles of central and south America, an environment that she thrived in.She isn't quite sure when, but at some point during the later years of the Occupation before the 20th anniversary of Advent, she became an agent of the Liberated after being freed by the XCOM commander during their captivity. As an operative of the Liberated, she mostly worked to do the opposite of her previous duties for the Elders, rather than locating Resistance camps and havens, she worked to ensure they remained hidden and when possible she worked to disguise the strength of the resistance in Jungles across the world.
When the war began, she and other Liberated operatives linked up with XCOM and the resistance and began to fight openly against the Elders. It was during this time that she came to meet individuals like the future Colonel Jack O'Neill and the Skirmisher Agora, the trio worked on several operations against Advent and the Elders with Csilla working as a scout sniper and a keen eyed one. These usually included small attacks within Advent occupied zones to deal damage or to sabotage defences, so that Resistance forces could break through, in all missions her keen eyed sharp shooting proved very useful.
When the war was over, she like other Liberated surrendered peacefully to XCOM and later were reintegrated into society, as the Stargate Project was put into full effect, she was requested to be a member of SG-1 where she would serve as an advanced scout and sniper for the team during their expeditions to visit other worlds. She is often one of the first through the gate and the first to go further from the gate on the other side, where she usually takes up a position at a high point and provides details. If the team comes into contact with hostiles, then she will take up her plasma long rifle and provide supporting fire, mostly by conducting suppressive fire to keep who ever is attacking them from raising their heads.
Outside of missions beyond the Stargate or here on Earth, Csilla is a firm member of the family that SG-1 has become, she is protective of the team and is not afraid to show her fangs to anyone that dares to insult anyone that is by her own words "My Family".
Doc:
Species: Human
Role: Team Medic
Real name, Semut Almasi, born in Siwa Oasis Egypt four years before the invasion, Doc grew up wanting to be a doctor, but before his dreams could take hold the Aliens launched their invasion.Though the town was relatively small and deemed insignificant and as such was able to avoid most of the fighting between the governments of Earth and the invaders. But this changed when Advent came into being, the residents of Siwa were moved to an Advent city, with some being forcibly evicted from their homes. When Doc was old enough, he went to a medical school whilst also undertaking an apprenticeship in an Advent Gene Therapy clinic, at first Doc was grateful to the new treatments being given to the public.
Later after he earned his medical licence, he started to be more judgemental of Advent as he discovered of atrocities being committed by Advent in the wilds on settlements, Doc started working as an underground doctor, helping people who didn't trust Advent or were supporters of the Resistance. When this was discovered, he was forced to flee and became a fully fledged combat medic for the Resistance in the Middle East.
When XCOM started the War of Liberation, he took part in several assaults on Advent cities in the Middle East, where he served as a combat medic at the front lines, treating the wounded resistance and XCOM soldiers as well as civilians that were caught in the fighting, it was during this time that he first met Colonel Jack O'Neill after the Colonel received an injury during a fight in Cairo. After that he was stationed at an intermediate hospital working to help people get through the difficult times of rebuilding the planet.
Later he was earmarked for the SGC Program as a medical officer at the Stargate facility, however he was then requested by Colonel O'Neill to be the medic for SG-1. His duties are clearly defined, though he is required to take a weapon with him on missions, most of his pack and equipment he brings are to help any injured or wounded members of the team. He is know for being very methodical, taking into account the environment of the planet they are going on and who is going on the mission.
When he isn't on missions to other worlds, he is often volunteering at the medical wing of the Stargate Facility, when he isn't there he is likely relaxing at a comfortable place in his home or garden with a book in his hand and a beer by his side. The members of SG-1 like to visit him to have a few drinks as well as a good barbeque when the sun is high and weather pleasant.
King Tut:
Species: Archon
Role: Technical Advisor and Research
An Archon that was originally a "Floater" during the invasion, he was forced by the Elders to undergo significant alterations to his body to make him more divinely visible. As he puts it, this was very painful as the Elders had little interest on how their underlings felt or experienced as long as they got what they wanted.Tut primarily worked in the regions of the Middles East into the Indian Sub Continent, where he primarily worked in the protection of sites that the Elders deemed important or curious. Apparently Tut was present when the Elders uncovered the location of the Stargate on Earth and worked on its retrieval and establishment for operation by the Elders. At some point during the occupation he was freed from the Elders psionic control and became a member of the Liberated resistance movement, where he mostly worked to sabotage Advent facilities with his technical know how.
That was at least until he was uncovered by Advent and he was captured, but XCOM launched a mission to rescue him from capture and he joined the crew of the Avenger. Since he knew a lot about Alien technologies, he aided the engineering team under Chief Engineer Shen to keep the ship working as well as aid in the construction of additional facilities on board. When the war began, he continued working aboard the Avenger, helping to work the different facilities to help the war effort.
After the war he wilfully allowed himself to be incarcerated for his own protection from the more zealous resistance groups, however he was later released but placed under observation to help with the Stargate facility and the different alien technologies within it. When the SGC went into full swing, he was requested to remain to help in refitting the facility for its new role, then requested again further to be a supporting member of SG-1.
Whilst he isn't really interested in combat or fighting, something he never wishes to do again after what he did during the invasion and occupation. Instead he mostly works from the SGC, supporting SG-1 with their equipment as well as helping to research the technologies they might bring back. But this doesn't mean that King Tut doesn't go with the team on some missions, if required he'll go with his team mates to perform closer examinations of locations or technologies that cannot be moved by them.
When not on missions or conducting research, King Tut is usually minding his own business or enjoying some time with the other members of SG-1, though mostly just with him floating nearby taking part in conversations and enjoying one another's company.
King Tut has been regarded as a very philosphical being with a strong sense of willpower, during the reintegration of Aliens and Hybrids into society and then into the SGC, he got into a battle of words with the leader of another SG team, who as judgemental of former subordinates of the Elders being allowed out of prison.
He remarked "You better join us and help us sort out our future".
The opponent questioned "Join you!"
To which he replied "We've got to learn to care for each other, else there will be nothing left of this world, but a burnt out battlefield..."
When asked if he had an answer, he replied "It is why I am here now, I have the will to look for the answer, you have to forgive us for the past and we must forgive you for the present... if we have no future human, we have no future.... that is what I believe in and what I am fighting for, what I am willing to die for"
X And V:
Species: Hybrid - Avatar
Role: Psionic Operatives
As far as the Elders are concerned X and V were failed experiments, both were early attempts at the Avatar Project, but both failed to meet what the Elders wanted. They got their names from the iteration of their creation, meaning which number they were in the attempt to make an Avatar.(Right - V - Bottom right - X)
V was first being the fifth attempt to make an Avatar for the Elders to transfer their consciousness, however she had too much humanity within her and was able to resist the Elders attempt to take over the body. After a couple more attempts, the Elders made X, but a minor failing that they had not noticed meant that when his body was completed, he was able to form his own consciousness in a small degree, though this was enough to make him sentient, enough for him to stop the Elders from taking his body.
Both were placed into isolation for research purposes, as Advent scientists wanted to find out where it was they had gone wrong, so that they could complete the Avatar Project. V though was able to break out of her containment and joined a group of Psionic operatives from XCOM, she worked with them to destroy Avatar research facilities across the world and even provided what she knew about Psionics in general.Later when XCOM started the war, V led a unit of XCOM fighters against the facility where X was held, they managed to free him, but due to him being in isolation and stasis for so long, X was practically terrified of everyone, since most of the people he had encountered up until that point had been conducting brutal acts on him in the name of the Avatar Project, this torture embedded a deep hatred of the Elders within him and a determination to ensure that nothing like what he suffered is ever repeated on others.
Together V and X form a pair of powerful Psionic operatives, that serve a duel purpose on missions for the SGC, they serve as Psionic operatives both in combat situations but also non combat roles, for instance they have used their Psionics to help in communications when meeting a new species or culture.
Before any ask, they came as a pair package. Originally only V was accepted into the SGC but when she refused unless X joined her, eventually he was given the green light. She does this mostly out of care for X who is still learning how it is to be human not Elder. V and X are very close and are actually in a committed relationship, though they have made clear of the strict rules the pair uphold, when on missions its business not personal, when not on mission or in any official duty they are a full couple.
V has been known for being more open and "Human" in terms of interacting with others, she is known to crack a joke, open a beer with the rest of the team, which is partly shared by X, but whilst V is more open, X is a little reserved. This is due to both his personal feelings and fears of the Psionic potential he possesses which he works hard to contain as well as his beliefs in philosophy and meditation. X is known to be less outspoken than V but when he does speak he gives sound advice in a spiritual manner and is not afraid to speak on the idea of the Soul.
But this doesn't mean he believes in immortality or ascension, X and to an extent V are both believers that people should learn from those around them and their experiences. For instance, X once gave sound advice to other SG teams when they were trapped on a planet.
An example:
"Colonel Horn, Don't rush into battle, a dead man is no use to anyone, only by surviving can you prevail ".
"Captain Miya, always looking for the enemy, for true victory, look to those beside you"
Mox:
Species: Muton
Role: Explosive Expert
A battle hardened Muton with years of war under his "belt", Mox was born on one of the countless vessels that the Elders used to transport their vast armies across the galaxy. He was present during the original invasion, taking part in several of the early incursions and later terror strikes against a number of cities across the planet. When the Elders started to "Augment" their subordinates, Mox was among the first to undergo this process, where he genetic structure was "Improved" with the use of human DNA. He detailed that he has very little memory of this time period as the Elders wanted their soldiers to be blindly loyal and nothing more.
Its unclear when, but Mox eventually became a member of the Liberated resistance movement and started to work as an agent for the resistance, gathering information and intelligence for XCOM from within the aliens ranks. Following a particular mission though he had to defect to the Resistance after he had planted several explosives at an Advent factory that produce weapons and munitions for Advent units, after this he linked up with a resistance haven and worked to produce explosives of various kinds, from grenades to true explosives, even to munitions for things like mortars.
After the war, like other Liberated he wilfully surrendered to XCOM and was later reintegrated into society, where he instantly joined up back with XCOM, helping at first to disassemble the various explosives and munitions that Advent had produced for the last 20 years. He was then brought on with the Stargate Project initially to help in the establishment of the bases Self Destruct system, the ultimate failsafe should anything happen. But as the SGC was fully put into effect, he was requested by Colonel O'Neill to be a member of SG-1 where he would serve as the teams explosives expert.
Though some might call Mox a "bomb nut", which is mostly true as he likes his explosives and his bombs, he is still very cautious. Mox is not the type of person to use his explosives at the first opportunity, something he learned from O'Neill, he'll recommend his explosives but he won' start setting them up until he's given the go ahead.
When not on missions, Mox is proud to hang out with his team members, either going out for drinks and fun, or engaging in competitive games, mostly wrestling matches with Berk, which has become a key point of gambling within the SGC.
Priestess:
Species: Hybrid
Role: Psionic Aid and Psychiatrist
Formerly an Advent Priest, Priestess was created among others with the express purpose of using Psionics to assist Advent forces in their duties, or in other ways being used as a sign of Propaganda, showing off how the Elders were blessing the powers of Psionics onto humans as a sign of their goodwill and belief in humanity. Its unclear when, but eventually she became a member of the Skirmisher faction of the resistance and started using her psionics to help in the freeing of Advent soldiers from the control of the Elders. When the Skirmishers joined with XCOM to start taking the fight to the Elders, she was sent to work aboard the Avenger to provide what information she knew of the Advent Priests capabilities as well as to assist in training XCOMs psionic operatives. Whilst on board she became an unofficial psychologist and psychiatrist for the troops and members of XCOM onboard the Avenger, helping them to get through the difficulties they were facing.
This was expanded upon when XCOM kickstarted the War of Liberation, she alongside others mostly civilians who had evacuated the Advent Controlled cities, started to work to help people who were struggling to come to grips with how things were changing or the loss of loved ones. Eventually she was taken by XCOM as full time Psychiatrist, which she worked proudly for a number of years, which included helping hybrids and aliens reintegrate into society after it was decided to release those that were not a danger or threat back into the world.
Later she was requested to join the SGC, again to serve as a psychiatrist for the various off world teams as well as the various researchers, engineers and support personnel. Though she was later asked to be a member of SG-1, which usually entails her having to go on a few missions through the Stargate, for the most part Priestess is found in the base helping people with their personal and mental wellbeing.
When she does go on missions however, it usually is because SG-1 has been called on to assist those in trouble, whether they are another SG team or so on, a situation that the team needs everyone on board to help. In these situations she helps by using her Psionics, such as "Stasis" and "Mind Control" alongside the usually use of a firearm to help keep the team safe.
Most of SG-1 sometimes find her nagging, specifically when she feels that they need someone to talk too, though they find it annoying that she is constantly trying to get them to open up. None of them question why, they all know and are very grateful to her for always looking out for them.
Spartan:
Species: Hybrid
Role: Assaulter
Formerly a foot soldier for Advent, enforcing order and keeping the image of Advent at every opportunity, Spartan was from his own words, a soldier that spent much time in City 31, patrolling, guarding locations and arresting suspected resistance members. This changed though with the fall of Advent, despite having fought in the war against the Resistance, Spartan was eventually released from Prison, years after the war he ended up joining the criminal group known as Sacred Coil where he served as a foot soldier and shield bearer for the group. Again he mostly watched over locations that the group had control over as well as protected preachers trying to spread the "Religious" beliefs of Sacred Coil.
One day however the abandoned gene therapy clinic that Sacred Coil had been using for experiments was raided by the Reclamation Agency team, Chimera Squad. He was knocked out when one of the team used Tranquilizer rounds to capture him, at first during interrogation he refused to listen, but when he learned that the goal of Sacred Coil was all built on the delusions of an Advent General who couldn't get over the departure of the Elders.
Spartan started to cooperate, he gave up the names of Sacred Coil members to 31PD as well as identified the locations of several locations that the group was using the last he knew. Due to him cooperating he was given a lighter sentence. During which he was visited by Colonel O'Neill at the request of the SGC, as Sacred Coil had been doing work on a Psionic Gate and they wanted to know how they got it working. During the conversation, Spartan let slip that other members of Sacred Coil in the prison had marked him for death. O'Neill warned the guards but they paid no attention, he then went to the Prison Commandant who after a good argument from O'Neill, finally sent guards, apparently Spartan barely survived the attack by Sacred Coil die hards armed with shivs.
Though he was still required to be confined to the SGC headquarters, he has proven himself capable, since he guarded several facilities for Advent before the war, he was able to help in the retrofit of the Stargate facility. Apparently during a lunch break, he found himself sharing a table with Colonel O'Neill who later requested that Spartan be a member of SG-1. At first obviously this was refused, but this was mostly due to him being a former criminal.
But O'Neill made a point that he wanted people of different skill sets and Spartan was a more than capable shield bearer and he didn't have the same level of Advent Indoctrination as with other captured Hybrids. Eventually after a lot of consideration he was accepted, though he is still confined to the base when not on missions, Spartan has no problem with this, on missions he serves as an assaulter and shield bearer for the team. If they get into a fight, he is either among those to advance upon the enemy or provide covering fire as the others retreat, if there is an extreme danger, such as the Engagement on P3X-666, Spartan will hold back at the Stargate to ensure the team has a safe exfil point.
When not on missions, he was originally very reserved, since he had served as an enemy to XCOM and Earth not once but twice, he felt that the others might not want to be seen around him. But this is very wrong, if anything since joining SG-1, he has begun to open up and start having fun, he is more talkative than he used too and as some would say, he is embracing his human side rather than the remains of the Advent indoctrination.
Striker:
Species: Human
Role: Insurgency Expert
Real name, Quinn Parker, Striker was a member of the Shrike Resistance network that operated in and around the region of City 31. Striker was raised for the resistance, his father and uncles were members of the resistance from the beginnings of Advent, so he was raised in a haven that was very much focused to fighting the Aliens and their Advent puppets.
From what is known, Striker took part in raids and ambushes against Advent when he was only 16 and by 18 he had shown his skill when it came to planting and preparing Ambushes and insurgent tactics, he showed an uncanny skill of identifying the best place to conduct an ambush or raid where it do the best. However for years Shrike was more of a nuisance for Advent than any real threat, since the network was more of a lose coalition of cells with little co-ordination, this changed when XCOM came back into the fight.
However XCOMs resurgence was both a blessing and a curse for Shrike, because when the War of Liberation was won, Shrike had to change in quick succession, at first things looked bright, because the civil governance of City 31, hired the Shrike Network cells to serve as a force of law enforcement during the initial years following the victory against the Elders. But when 31PD was established in proper, Shrike found itself out of a job and became little more of a group of mercenaries each with different ideas of what to do, some became private security hires for legitimate jobs whilst others became hired guns for gangs and criminals.
Striker was thankfully in the former, his cell worked as a private security for the cities food storage facility, but his trust in Shrike came to an end when he discovered that the Shrike Leadership had deliberately incited criminal elements and funded their efforts all so that Shrike would regain their "Contracts" in the city and replace 31PD. This was not what he fought a war for, he felt that Shrike had forgotten what they fought for and were only caring about money over freedom.
He started to pass along information to 31PD on the more radical elements of the remaining Shrike cells and where they were likely to be found. Striker himself took off his Shrike badge and walked away from the life, he enlisted in XCOM and requested for a place far away from City 31, this was heeded and he was tasked to the Stargate Facility for security, but this again was changed when he was requested to be a member of SG-1. He was selected due to his previous experiences in insurgent warfare as well as security, his role is clear on planets that possess possible dangers, he is to point out places that are likely ambush zones and help the team avoid them. In other situations he and a few others will be told to stick by the Stargate to ensure that the team has an escape route.
Outside of missions, Striker is still a little cautious, he knows that old wounds take a long time to be heal and Shrike did a lot of damage both literally and to the hope of rebuilding Earth. Despite the fact that he gets looks from some people, he has no issues with SG-1 who treat him as a brother, he has said in a Psych eval that he feels happy again, since he has a family again since having left Shrike.
Tanker:
Species: Andromedon
Role: Chemical and Atmospheric Expert
A soldier for the Elders, Tanker wasn't present for the initial invasion that was resisted by XCOM, but he was involved in the more open and clearly defined invasion, where warships launched unprecedented attacks on a number of cities across the planet. He alongside a great number of other Andromedons were involved in the ground attacks, using their heavy weapons to tear apart any that resisted, be they military, law enforcement or even civilian militias.
When Advent was formed and took control as a global government under the Elders, Tanker and others of his kind became a shock force for the Elders in quelling any and all resistance elements across the planet. Often when a Resistance haven was discovered he and others like him were sent in alongside Advent and other aliens to wipe out those within the Haven. He isn't quite sure, but at some point he became a member of the Liberated Resistance movement, he left the aliens and found his way to an XCOM led haven, where he started working with the Resistance forces, helping them construct their haven and provided muscle in its defence.
When required he would join XCOM units in launching Guerrilla Actions against key targets that were of importance for Advent. His job was as a heavy hitter so to speak, with his thick armoured suit and his rotary heavy plasma cannon, he provided covering and suppression fire against Advent units or to deal damage against heavy enemies. His help came in handy during a number of battles during the War of Liberation, including a battle where he came to meet Colonel Jack O'Neill whom he respected.
Later after the war, he was asked by the Global Council to assist the establishment of Havens and sanctuaries for the Andromedons, locations where they can live more comfortably and ensure that their specially required environments can be maintained. Later he was earmarked for the Stargate Program, at first due to his reputation among the Andromedons as a reliable individual, but later he was requested to be a member of SG-1 as its Chemical and Atmospherics expert.
Basically since all Andromedans have to be careful with their enviro suits, they are all adept in chemical and atmospheric knowledge and know exactly what is harmful and what is not and not just for themselves. So his job with some additions to his suit, including a built P.D.A, he is able to give accurate details on the Atmospheric conditions of a planet as well as give a basic understanding of certain chemicals that might be discovered. Plus the team is happy to have him due to his continued skill with a rotary plasma cannon, something that is very much envied by the rest of the team, notably Mox.
Such was proven during an engagement on P3X-666, during which Tanker held a defensive position in front of the Stargate alongside other team members to ensure that the SG teams on the planet had a means of getting back safely.
But Tanker does have other motives for joining the SGC over just being reunited with some old friends like Colonel O'Neill, though he doesn't argue the fact that since joining SG-1 he has a much bigger list of people he is willing to fight for. A great inspiration for him working with the SGC is the hope for his people, as he puts it, the Andromedons have been trapped within their enviro suits for generations by the Elders, long ago the home world that bore them was lost to history and is unlikely ever to be found again.
His great hope is a promise made, that one day the SGC under the authority of the Global Council will establish a colony for the Andromedons on a planet that is perfect for their survival outside of their suits. Something that Tanker is very much hoping for and this hope is shared now by the members of SG-1 who greatly desire to see his dream become reality.
Wizz:
Species: Human
Role: Tech Specialist
A hardened resistance fighter, Jennifer Mui or just Wizz to her friends was a member of a resistance cell operating in Eastern Asia for most of the occupation, she worked in a variety of forms, from frontline fighter to support roles. But her main focus of resistance was through technology, using a series of different methods she enjoyed hacking into Advent systems to cause trouble, train lines were halted, traffic was sent haywire, defence systems were shut down and more. When XCOM came back into the fight, they made contact with the cells in Asia and Wizz joined the fight aboard the Avenger, mostly as an chance to test her skills against more important and difficult Advent targets. She aided Chief Engineer Shen with the creation of a new version of the "GREMLIN" small drones used by specialist operatives of XCOM, she improved the hacking software to make it easier for XCOM operatives to hack easier and safer into Advent systems.
Her skill in hacking proved useful during several Guerrilla Operations conducted by XCOM including the jail break of several resistance fighters and later the mission to hack into the Advent Broadcasting tower and broadcast the truth to the world, which ignited the War of Liberation. During the war, she worked with several units of the Resistance to help in the establishment of an effect communications system to help organise the war effort, she also took part in surgical strikes alongside XCOM special forces to disrupt Advent defences in the occupied zones.
It was here that Wizz met Agora and the two became good friends, when the SGC was established, Agora recommended Wizz to Colonel O'Neill as a viable member of SG-1. She had the experience of a fighter but also had all kinds of skills that could be of help for the team during their missions, including her advanced Mark 2 Gremlin which could be used for scouting. When she is not on missions, Wizz likes to have fun and crack open a few drinks, enjoy life, as she puts it, for most of her life this is all she wanted, the chance to just sit back and relax and not have to worry about what is going on around her.
She explained that in the past she never really could just enjoy things because she was having to constantly look over her shoulder. Of course this was during the days of the occupation and later the war, when people like her could never really relax and take a breath as they were always hunted, there were times when she fought just so she could sit and enjoy a beer just for fun rather than to escape.
Something that the others of SG-1 are more than willing to take part in.
Wrath:
Species: Human
Role: Templar Psionics
Among the few members of the Templar Resistance Faction to still be in the public eye, Wrath surrendered his true born name when he became a member of the Templars and eventually as he puts it, one day he just woke up and forgot what it was.As a Templar, Wrath is highly advanced in Psionic abilities and uses all the different techniques and methods of Psionic that the Templars had created over the years of their resistance against Advent and the Elders. Wrath was involved in resisting various Advent elements in different parts of the world, but he rarely ever worked with outsiders as the Templars were rather isolated by their volition.
This changed with them combining forces with XCOM, especially after the Chosen known as the Warlock was defeated by their combined efforts. It was during this time that Wrath started to gain a greater respect for XCOM and its members, as well as becoming partial friends with some of its members. When XCOM ignited the war, Wrath and several other Templars fought alongside XCOM forces in several battles using their psionics to help breakthrough Advent Defences or neutralize Advent Priest and Psionic capable aliens.
When the war was won, Wrath received a message from Gist, the leader of the Templar faction, calling on all Templars to head to a certain location and detach themselves from XCOM and everyone else. Wrath didn't believe in the order and left the Templars entirely alongside a number of others, he gave up the life he once had and joined up with XCOM, he was placed at the XCOM academy where he alongside others would train Psionically capable humans and aliens in how to control their abilities.
Later when the SGC was established, Wrath was asked to join up, originally everyone thought that he might be requested to be a member of SG-4 alongside other former Templars, although he was asked, Wrath instead wished to serve with an old comrade Colonel O'Neill. As part of SG-1, Wrath serves as a Templar warrior once again, using his abilities when needed to provide help for the team, should they face dangerous enemies, as he prefers to fight in close quarters, Wrath is usually second in line when the team is moving ready to respond to any threat at a moments notice.
Outside of missions, Wrath is very strict and disciplined, he is known to keep his quarters meticulously clean to the point of obsession, he is also known to partake in what he calls Psionic Meditation, where he sits cross legged for hours focusing his mind. Wrath is sometimes jokingly even by himself as like a monk, he likes to Meditate not only for the calming effect he gets, but also because he believes that with discipline and detaching himself from certain elements of the world and with careful Psionics he can achieve a form of Spiritual Enlightenment.
But this doesn't mean he isn't afraid of spending time with his team mates and having some laughs just for the hell of it, he is humorously called "The Designated Driver" of the team whenever they all go out to the bar, since he never partakes in any alcohol, though you'll never here him complain about it.
The Advisory Committee:
A compromise by XCOM with the Global Council, the committee, is a group of carefully selected individuals by the Global Council that serve as a check and balance against the SGC. They report to the Global Council directly and practically act as judges on how the SGC is operating and often is known to question the choices made by the SGC and the different teams, to ensure an element of equality, the Committee is comprised of humans, hybrids and aliens to make sure that all sides are heard.
The Committee is made of up of a total of 9 individuals who are carefully selected by the Council and all prospected members must undergo a significant screening and background checks before even having their names presented to the Council.
The Committee is known for being split down the middle, there are some who support what the SGC is doing and wish to see it continue operating as it is but with some more oversight in place to ensure that they do not make any fateful actions that could place Earth in jeopardy. But at the same time there are a few that judge the SGC to be too militant, whilst they claim to support the SGCs efforts, they feel that the SGC is a military organisation that has been put in charge of the establishment of scientific exploration and the establishment of civilian settlements on other worlds.
There are a few on the Committee that wish to see the use of the Stargate to be placed under the control of a civilian authority that doesn't answer to a military organisation like XCOM.
Dr Karl Peters:
A survivor of the original XCOM from the days of the Invasion, Dr Karl Peters was the Head researcher at XCOMs base in Europe, where he worked under Dr Vahlen the Head of XCOM research.Dr Peters was one of several scientists that were preselected for the XCOM project for his experience in several fields of research and scientific theorems. He had before the activation of XCOM, had published several papers and been recognised for his work in the fields he worked, when the Invasion began, he was at first surprised that Government agents were sent to bring him in. But once he realised what it was all for, Dr Peters was determined to do his job and figure out the alien technologies.
Sadly after the fall of the Main XCOM base in North America, "Site X", the locations of all XCOM bases were uncovered by the Aliens and for the safety of all present, they were hastily evacuated to protect everyone inside. When Advent was formed and the governments of Earth surrendered, Dr Peters decided to work at least partly for the Aliens, he became the head of medicine at a Hospital in Germany, where he tended sick and injured patients. Whilst all the while working with others to secretly skim medical supplies away from the cities and into the hands of the resistance.
As the War of Liberation ignited, Dr Peters led a medical corps of XCOM medics and surgeons helping the wounded at makeshift hospitals established close to the frontlines. During this time he and all the doctors, nurses and surgeons were in constant danger of long range attacks by Advent, during one attack, he sadly was struck in the back which unfortunately caused severe damage to his spine, leaving him paralysed from the waste down. Though he wasn't able to take part properly in surgeries, he continued to help where he could by organising medical teams both on the front and behind them.
After the War, he was recognised for his contribution and was offered a place in the new Global Council, he accepted to an extent, his conditions being that he was allowed to continue working with XCOM in research and scientific fields, the Council agreed so much so that when the SGC was formed, Dr Peters was asked to serve as a member of the Advisory Committee to maintain a watch over the Stargate Program.
They felt that with a scientist in the committee the Council might see more of a civilian control over the Stargate program rather than XCOM, however they forgot all about Dr Peters had friends within XCOM and had served with them over most of his late years of life. Although he is in favour of the Committee keeping an eye of the SGC, he feels that it is doing the job that it was established for and feels that the SGC is not imposing military authority on civilians as was feared.
He has continuously argued that up until this point the SGC has not installed military officers from either XCOM or the SGC in direct control of civilian settlements that have been established. Rather he makes clear that the SGC is working with civilian leadership equally as is desired by the Global Council and he makes it further clear that the civilian leaders within the SGC and the interplanetary settlements and outposts are recommended by the Committee and accepted by the Global Council.
Dr Peters has often pointed out to the Global Council and the Committee itself that whilst he agrees that a civilian element should be involved in the Stargate program, the problem with a council or committee is that it does one of two things in a crisis. It either fails to make a decision on what is to be done, or more often than not in his current experience with the Committee, they take too long to make up their minds, which as far as he has argued, places the entire planet in danger.
Secretary Mayfield:
A true Politician, Senator Mayfield was among the Senators of the United States that was present when the Council of nations surrendered to the Aliens and was even there when Advent was formed as Earths first global government. At first he genuinely believed that perhaps the world had made a mistake when they opposed the Elders invasion of Earth, he witnessed countless peoples lives become all the more better. When someone he cared for grew ill, the Gene Therapy clinics that Advent established saved their lives, from that point on Secretary Mayfield was a believer of Advents cause of raising humanity towards the stars. He started working for a Councillor of Advent and then became an Advent Councillor himself after a few years, it was here though as he started to learn more about Advent that he grew suspicious, secretly he began to look deeper and discovered several things that had been covered up.
So, he began working with the "Spokesmen" of XCOM in providing both XCOM and the resistance with various pieces of information whenever he could. When the war ignited, he grabbed what he could and alongside his family evacuated the Advent city they were in and surrendered to the Resistance. After his acts for the resistance were shown, he was released however many still kept a close eye on him due to his former Advent sympathies.
Later he was allowed to re-join the Global Council serving as a the chairman of the Defence Committee, after a few years, he was asked by the Council to become a Secretary of the Stargate Advisory Committee, before he accepted he did his due diligence and examined the available details of the Program. He agreed and became the primary moderate of the Committee, though he agrees that a military element is required in regards of the SGC, due to the ever present threat of the Elders as well as the possibility of possible hostilities that could be encountered.
Secretary Mayfield does accept that an element of Civilian authority should be included, in his mind the SGC shouldn't be all encompassing, for instance, yes the SGC should oversee the military efforts, but things such as Research should be under the purview of civilian leadership as he feels that a military leader might overlook something that doesn't anything beyond military means and might.
Mr Richard Kamski:
A young man from a long line of prestigious and intelligent family, Mr Richard Kamski was raised under Advent and for a long time whole heartedly believed in the ideas of Advent uplifting humanity beyond its roots. So much so that after completing a lengthy education, funded entirely by his family, he started working for Advent Research and Development, using his intelligence and credentials to improve Advent where possible. He worked on several areas of study from new improvements to the Gene Therapy Clinics, updates to Advent communication systems, improving civilian electric vehicles and even a few military projects.
This changed however, when during a raid by XCOM, he was captured and brought to a resistance stronghold, where he spent the remainder of the occupation and later the war. Though he was later released during the War of Liberation when he discovered the truth about what Advents ultimate goal was, or more specifically when he discovered that he was among the "Non Essential Humans" that were to be processed for the Avatar Project.
Now after a number of years, Mr Kamski entered politics notably after learning of the Stargate Program and had the desire to see what possibilities might unfold. As a member of the Advisory Committee, a position that he got through his education, experience in research and sciences and according to some rumours through his family connections.
Mr Kamski is not a fan of XCOM, not just because he was taken prisoner by XCOM led resistance forces during the Occupation that apparently treated him in a manner unfitting for a man like himself. But also as he puts it, because the military should not be in direct control of such an important resource and asset, such being the Stargate. He is an adamant supporter of civilian oversight and constantly is attempting to push the agenda of having the Stargate Program placed under Civilian authority rather than the military.
Many in the SGC do not like, Mr Kamski as they believe he is putting his own agendas above that of the planet, as he constantly is requesting the newest research files and data from the SGC. Some even believe that he is a backer of groups that threaten the Stargate Program in its operations across the stars, according to some rumours he is doing this to float his lifestyle, as he outright refuses to stay in the quarters offered to him whenever he is visiting the Stargate Facility, regarding it suitable to a soldier but not a man of his station.
Secretary Mndeni:
An advanced Sectoid, Secretary Mdeni was sent by the Elders during the initial invasion to influence the minds of various humans, specifically those in positions of authority in order to bring about humanities ultimate surrender. After said surrender, he was infused with human DNA that made him like other Sectoids, much taller and more powerful. For most of the Occupation he was used to ensure the loyalties of Advent politicians and civilian leaders in different cities across the planet. From this he learned a lot about politics and the workings of it, when the War of Liberation kicked off, he was among those captured during the early days of the fighting and spent a good long time in prison, where he continued his "Studies" into politics.
After the Reintegration program was put into effect, Mdeni was examined and after a period of time he was chosen to be a suitable candidate. From the moment he left prison, he entered politics and started working directly for the Global Council in regards of securing Alien rights on Earth, later he became a member of the Global Councils Civil Rights Committee and after the beginnings of the SGC, he was recommended to be a member of the Advisory committee.
He accepted after learning of the Gray Phoenix faction in City 31, whilst he didn't agree with their methods, he did believe in their reasons, Secretary Mndeni is a key individual in the argument of establishing civilian settlements and colonies through the Stargate. He has made clear in his arguments that through such settlements those who are not comfortable on Earth can start a new home if they so desire, plus as he puts it "It will show that we are listening".
It is a common for Secretary Mdeni to get into shouting matches with Mr Kamski, because whilst Secretary Mdeni is in favour of civilian control of the Colonies and civil settlements, he thinks that the entire Stargate Program should remain with the SGC. The primary point he makes for this, is the Committe itself, he makes clear that more often than not, the Advisory committee is just unable to make a clear decision without as he puts it "Receiving a giant kick up the ass".
SG Sites:
Through the few years that the SGC has been in operation and the Project has been upheld by the Global Council and XCOM, it has managed to successfully establish a number of outposts, stations and even full settlements on a number of different planets.
These sites as they recorded in the SGC database range in purpose and focus, they can serve as mining stations extracting minerals that are sent either to one of the others sites or back to Earth. They can be research stations where scientists conduct all manner of research and study, there are obviously military sites that have been established by XCOM to serve as a defence perimeter should the Elders launch a new attack on Earth.
But the largest of these sites are the civilian settlements, planets that have been deemed suitable for long term habitation for the different species on Earth, be they Hybrid, Alien or Human. These sites are different in that whilst they are protected by the SGC and by extension XCOM, the actual running of the civilian settlements is done by a sub council made up of representatives from all the different species on planet Earth.
Aegis Station:
Planet: P3A-575
Focus: Planetary Evaluation - Civilian Settlement/Mining Settlement
Population: 100
Established by: SG-9
Aegis station is situated on planet P2A-347, the planet is mostly comprised of mountains and montane forest and very rarely reaches temperatures over 20 degrees Celsius in the day and the temperature drops significantly at night to just below freezing. The atmosphere is breathable to an extent with researchers reporting that outside the station, breathing is similar to being at high elevations, which is why all researchers at Aegis station undergo altitude training to help acclimatised their bodies.
The atmosphere has high quantities of Nitrogen and roughly 7.2% oxygen, however the station possesses equipment enabling the safe extraction of oxygen and clean drinking water from the ice.
Aegis station is a site established for two particular goals, the first and current mission for the researchers there is what is known as Planetary evaluation. This is where scientists of different focuses conduct close research of a planet to determine suitability for future settlement, this includes atmospheric judgement, geographical concerns, biological risks, as well as engineering suitability, agricultural risks and suitability etc.
P2A-347 being a mountain based planet has a considerable amount of metals that are exceedingly rare on Earth, geological study shows that the planet has untapped quantities of Lanthanum, Crystalite, Apatirine and Ambersite. As well as this scans show that most of the planets crust is saturated with large veins of frozen H2O, which from tests has been proven to be safe and clean, enabling the Station to use the Ice not just for producing water for everyone within.
This water is made all the more important as it in turn is used in the creation of oxygen for the Station interior, P2A-347 is being considered as an option for long term habitation for a civilian settlement. And it is hoped that the large ice veins will enable long term habitation for settlers until a safe process of atmospheric alteration can be achieved to make the air more suitable.
Aether Station:
Planet: P3A-577
Focus: Elerium mining and Refining
Population: 500
Established by: SG-6 / 7
Aether Station has been described as a dark and harsh world, according to studies, the planet is actually a habitable moon surrounding a large gas giant. P3A-577 and the gas giant it orbits have an orbit around the solar systems sun which leads it into the path of an almost constant meteor shower, this has led to the planet having very little on the surface. However the constant barrage of meteors has led to a large abundance of metals and minerals most important of which is Elerium or more specifically "Pure" Elerium. So after careful consideration, the Global Council granted the SGC to establish a mining station on P3A-577 to extract raw Elerium and process it for use in Elerium generators in other off world sites as well as on Earth.
Ether station is placed into a mountain side with most of the facility buried deep underground to provide a level of protection from the meteor showers. Within the underground sections of the Station, site not just the actual mine which is automated for safety but also the refinery where the Elerium extracted in processed in a useable form as intended. To provide additional protection for the station from the Meteor showers, a series of automated turrets were placed around the Exterior of the base to shoot and destroy meteors that would impact the site.
Arcadia:
Planet: P3X-595
Focus: Civilian Settlement
Population: 3,500
Established by: SG-1
The first real success in the establishment of a Civilian settlement and the beginnings of a colony, Arcadia is regarded as a tropical paradise, with large rivers, giant waterfalls and lush forests and jungles covering much of the planet.
The colonial settlement that gave the planet its more accepted name, is situated on a rocky plateau where a series of water falls form after underground geysers push vast quantities of fresh water up from deep beneath the surface. The structures of the settlement are constructed with strong supports that ensure that they remain secured to the walls of the Plateau as well as the different walk ways and stairwells that connect different sections of the settlement.
Arcadia functions almost at a 100% self sufficient rate in terms of food production, it possesses hydroponic facilities as well as several greenhouses and a synthetic meat production, all of which are supported by the planets natural abundance of water which is also used as a source of Hydro-Electricity. Whilst there are still considerable amounts of work in regards of mineral extraction so that the Colony is not reliant on external sources for construction materials, engineering crews are in the process of establishing mineral and resources outpost to provide the needed materials for expansion.
The Settlement has a variety of amenities for its residents, among these are shops that are privately owned that sell goods manufactured on Arcadia or brought through the Stargate. There are cafes, restaurants and even a bar, for people to enjoy themselves when they are not at work, it has even been reported that the local SGC security detachment often enjoy these amenities during their off hours.
As a civilian settlement, Arcadia is under the protection of the SGC and by Extension XCOM, but it does not fall under its authority, instead the colony is a civilian governed with an elected governor who reports to the Global Council. To date, Arcadia's population is mostly made up of Aliens, though there is a sizeable population of Humans and Hybrids, a few of the Aliens who emigrated to Arcadia were formerly members of the Gray Phoenix group from city 31, which has helped to foster better unity among the residents who are starting to feel more at home.
Artemis Station:
Planet: P3X-797
Focus: Scientific Research
Population: 20
Established by: SG-5
P3X-797 is a planet that according to information from Alien databases was previously visited and exploited by the Elders roughly a hundred years before they launched their invasion of Earth. According to research and geological samples taken, the planet had in the past an abundance of materials that the Elders used to manufacture all kinds of technologies from their weapons to the computer systems in their ships.
The planet was practically strip mined for these specific resources and then was abandoned once it had no real value to them. However the SGC has established a research station on the planet to conduct tests and analysis on the effects this has caused the planet, the station is able to tap into underground sources of ice to produce oxygen and drinking water for the interior of the station. Scans have shown that the damage caused by the Elders mining efforts has led to the air of the planet becoming entirely inhospitable to all species.
Researchers at Artemis station have confirmed that although the Elders had stripped mined the planet entirely, there still consist immense amount of ores and minerals that were completely ignored, it is theorised that these ores were of no use to the Elders and so were not mined. One particular mineral ore, "Trinium" as named by one of the researchers, is very brittle in its current state, so much so that a human could easily break it with their bare hands. It is believed that with some work Trinium can be refined into a metal stronger than steel
Atlantis Colony:
Planet: P3X-513
Focus: Civilian Settlement / Scientific Research
Population: 3,000
Established by: SG-1
Another success in the effort to establish civilian settlements on other worlds, P3X-513 is a planet made up almost entirely of a vast ocean with a single continent of land. The air is habitable and fully breathable to most species excluding the Andromedans, the gravity is only slightly weaker than that of Earths with it being estimated to be roughly similar to that of Mars.
The Atlantis colony was established in a super structure that is in effect a fully functional city floating on the surface of the ocean, based on the first research expeditions that surveyed the planet after SG-1 identified the presence of the city. It has been deemed that the city is not a creation of the Elders based on the layout, structure, languages and technologies found within the city, as of yet it has not been possible to determine who the original builders were, only that they must have been at an extremely advanced technological level in order to construct the city. The city even has a fully functional star port capable of serving vessels of varying sizes from small saucer craft to larger vessels.
Originally Atlantis was to serve only as a research facility, however the Global council felt that the city could be used for more than just that, so a civilian element was allowed to establish a community within the city. The city is now in effect living up to its size, with a sizeable population being the home not just of researchers and scientists but also of a growing population that live and work in the city as they would a normal city.
There hydroponic gardens, greenhouses, shops and businesses, facilities that serve to improve the standard of living such as a gym, a sauna, even a pool. Of course due to the importance of the City and the growing population, the SGC has established a permanent presence on the planet with a series of defences being established around the exterior to serve as protection for the cities inhabitants. However by the request of the Global council the civil law enforcement and leadership of the city shall be a civilian not a member of the military and must be either a civilian and or a lead scientist.
Atlas Station:
Planet: P3X-117
Focus: XCOM Military Site
Population: 500
Established by: SG-2 / SG-3
Located on a temperature planet, Atlas Station is a military site established by the SGC and run in conjunction with XCOM. Originally the site was considered for possible permanent civilian habitation, however this was voted against due to its position further out from Earth than other possible sites, that are under consideration. The base is still under construction, with a surface construction to serve as an forward post in support of a nearby station that shall serve to house fighter craft alongside Scout Saucers. The surface construction is still ongoing as is the underground facilities of the base, though the surface is undergoing construction of several defensive systems within close proximity of the main elevator leading underground.
The real base is situated several feet below the surface of the planet in a series of deep caverns and tunnels that have been repurposed similar in fashion to the old XCOM base from the Elders Invasion over 25 years ago. It possesses a small hangar for smaller transports, large storage facilities, large living quarters, internal power supply thanks to an Elerium reactor built into the facility. It is in the process of construction deep space communications to enable direct contact with Earth with out the Stargate as well as building within the underground sections and above ground Hydroponic systems to make it possible for the base to limit the bases reliance on Earth for food.
Atmos Station:
Planet: P3X-562
Focus: Planetary Evaluation - Mining Settlement
Population: 200
Established by: SG-8
A planet made up almost entirely of rocky mountains and deserts comprising both of sand and rock surfacing, the atmosphere of the planet has been detailed to be limited in Oxygen making breathing without, apparatus when outside sealed habs to be extremely dangerous. The atmosphere has high concentrations of Carbon Dioxide and high levels of Argon which is known to displace Oxygen in certain instances.Though the planet is mostly desolate, there are small forms of life mostly in the form of small species of plants that are restricted to the mountain regions or the various forms of lichen that grow along the rocks. However analysis of these plants has revealed they do not possess the same capabilities in regards of oxygen production as those found on Earth, which may be the reason for the high levels of Carbon Dioxide on the planet.
P3X-562 is a planet with substantial mineral deposits, it is for this reason that the planet is ear marked for the establishment of a mining settlement to provide the raw materials needed not just for Earth but also the other sites across the Stargate network.
Due to the limitations of the planets atmosphere to support life, the Global Council are more in favour of the planet hosting a Mining facility over a genuine civilian settlement with teams of experts working on the planet and then resting off world in a rota system. At the moment the planet has Atmos station as the only permanent site on the planet, which hosts the main research station alongside the supporting elements, from an engineering section to maintain the upkeep of the station as well as the rovers and recon drones, to a small team of cooks who provide stable dietary meals to all personnel and of course a medical team.
Aura Station:
Planet: P3X-774
Focus: Research - h20 extraction settlement
Population: Around 150
Established by: SG-7
P3X-774 is a planet caught in a perpetual ice age, the entire planets surface is covered in either snow or solid ice, though the air is breathable temperatures can fluctuate between -50 degrees Celsius to nearly -100 Celsius. This is thought to be due to the fact that P3X-774s atmosphere is unable to the heat of its star, so despite the planet being in a viable position in terms of distance and orbit, P3X-774 never rises above -40 Celsius.Evidence has been uncovered by science teams that the planet was once habitable, however some form of ecological disaster weakened the atmosphere and pushed the planet into a never ending winter.
As the planet is in capable of supporting long term settlement due to the extremely low temperatures, P3X-774 has been denied for any expansive settlement, however Aura station was established to serve two mission priorities. The first being scientific research into the planet as well as the extraction of the large amounts of frozen h20 that after careful testing showed was clean and fit for drinking and other uses.
Aura station cuts pieces of ice as well as filters quantities of snow to be sent through the Stargate to planets that are more limited in water. Be it for drinking and cleaning, coolant for machinery or for the production of Oxygen in outposts and stations that are on planets with unsuitable atmospheres.
Cinqo Station:
Planet: P5C-353
Focus: Deep Space Research
Population: 50
Established by: SG-9
P5C-353 is not longer considered a genuine planet, in that the planet is believed to have suffered a catastrophic even that caused P5C-353 to break up into large pieces of solid rock. In effect the different fragments of the planet are more akin to giant asteroids that are held in proximity to each other by one another gravity as well as that of the star at the heart of the solar system.Since the different Asteroids have no atmosphere due to the disaster that struck the planet hundreds if not thousands of years ago, it was required by the first Expedition to don protective suits and were strictly limited to their time due to the danger of cosmic radiation. Lucky the Stargate and the DHD [Dial home Device] were undamaged and stable, so the team were able to return safely.
The SGC has established a research station on P5C-353, due to the risk of Cosmic radiation and the occasional small meteors and meteorites striking the surface, "Cinqo" station is limited in its size and personnel. The focus of Cinqo station is deep space research, specifically Astrophysics to try and learn more about the universe over what has already been studied from Earth.
Construction is also ongoing for the establishment of a new station nearby, that shall focus on mineral extraction as the "Planetoid" has been identified to hold extensive quantities of elements such as Helium 3.
Corbulo Academy and Corbulo Town:
Planet: P3X-8596
Focus: SGC Military Installation / Civilian Settlement
Population: 2,700
Established by: SG-2
P3X-8596 is a temperate world similar in size to Neptune however it possesses an almost perfect copy of Earth when it comes to atmosphere, gravity, water and life. The planet is mostly comprised of various forests, hills and mountain ranges, the weather patents shift again in a similar manner of Earth through the seasons.
Originally the planet was intended for Civilian settlement though was changed when the placement of the planet had in close proximity to known Advent Remnant bases on other worlds, so XCOM and the SGC established a permanent base on the planet, which serves as a frontline base and training academy for XCOM and SGC cadets, the Academy possess barracks, a large mess hall, kitchens, classrooms, training yard, parts of the forest are used for Mock battle exercises and more. Although the Academy does primarily serve as an training ground for XCOM and the SGC, it also possesses a number of dishes that are linked to both intelligence purposes and communications.
At the heart of the Academy is the Starport, which connects the Academy to a number of starships that are assigned to the planet, these range from transport vessels that move goods and materials that cannot be sent through the Stargate or warships that serve to protect P3X-8596 as well as conduct patrols to counter any hostile threats.
Cronos Station:
Planet: P3X-974
Focus: Planetary Evaluation
Population: 50
Established by: SG-4
According to the data retrieved from the Advent systems as well as the Stargate facility, P3X-974 was an uninhabited planet that the Elders practically strip mined for all its worth during their travels across the universe.
According to the researchers at Cronos Station, the planet may once have been a world that was capable of supporting habitation, samples that have been analysed show that the planet once had a thriving ecosystem and an atmosphere that was more than safe to breath. However the method in which the Elders strip mined the planet caused extensive and irreversible damage to the ecosystem and the atmosphere.
There is evidence of extensive mining efforts and the placements of what may have been dozens of large refineries, but at the moment there are no buildings or facilities remaining, with some data from the Stargate facility suggesting that the facilities were dismantled after the Elders were finished.
Though the planet is not capable of supporting life anymore, there is still keen interest in the planet for Scientific and research purposes, Cronos station is the heart of the research efforts on the planet. Due to the limited atmosphere, the station possesses several characteristics required for such a facility, it holds an aquifer that extracts moisture both from beneath the surface as well as moisture dew from the atmosphere, this water is then converted through the Oxygenator to enable those inside the station to breath safely.
The goal of Cronos station is to conduct research on the planet and how badly the damage is from the strip mining conducted that occurred possibly centuries ago., the intent being that by understanding the damage and the effects it has brought on, then ways of reversing it may be discovered.
Echo Base:
Planet: P2A-509
Focus: XCOM/SGC Military Base
Population: 700
Established by: SG-2 / SG-3
P2A-509 is a planet covered in extensive ice and snow, the planet is found within a habitable zone of its solar system, however studies conducted on the star at the heart of the system show that the heat produced is restrictive and limited to how much exactly reaches the planet. This has caused an almost eternal Ice Age that has been in place for approximately nearly 20,000 years if not more.
Its placement on the star charts have shown that P2A-509 is one of very far from other worlds known to possess stargates, due to its isolation, but breathable atmosphere, it was decided by the Global council to permit the SGC and XCOM to establish a base on the planet.
Echo Base is a secure military base built within a network of large natural caverns within an expansive mountain range, which have been expanded upon with ice coring to produce a collection of corridors, hallways and rooms to serve various purposes. It possesses a stargate room buried deep within the heart of the base, several large hangars are found closer to the surface near the cave entrances. These hangars are able to at least 3 squadrons of fighter craft as well as a few larger transport vessels, these hangars are not as they might seem at first glance.
For the Hangars are in effect a fully functional star-port, with Elerium and power core reserves, preparation bays, maintenance levels and extensive cargo storage bays. Living quarters are built to provide the maximum use of heat to provide comfort to all personnel, with sleeping quarters being designed to provide comfort to anyone resting. The base even has its own fully functional kitchen to support the mess hall, rather than providing basic ration meals, to provide a morale boost the personnel assigned to the base, proper meals are prepared daily, including a "Steak Special" on Mondays.
Large blast doors the lead outside are closed each and every night to protect the base from the worst of the planets weather which is extensively more severe at night. The base also has other facilities, including a fully stocked medical wing that can perform anything from basic medical treatment to more extensive surgeries. Near the Gate room, is the command and control centre, where the bases ranking officers oversee operations.
And its not just in the mountains that the base has been established, to provide protection to the base, several defence systems are embedded around the perimeter, these include large orbital cannons that can shoot at warships in orbit, to networks of defensive trenches and turret placements.
Eleron Station:
Planet: P3X-972
Focus: Elerium Mining
Population: 1,000
Established by: SG-7
A hostile planet with no hopes of life, P3X-972 was used by the Elders as a major provider of Elerium, apparently the planet holds vast quantities of unrefined Elerium across most of the planet.
Eleron Station was originally a station that had been constructed by the Elders to harvest and refine the planets Elerium reserves for use in the manufacture of their star-ships and other technologies. When the Elders were driven off of earth, it was assumed that they might retreat to one of their previously established bases to regroup, such as P3X-972, however based on data retrieved from the mining facility, it appears that the Elders withdrew from the planet around the same time.
They did so in such a hurry that the facility was still in perfectly working order, after careful evaluation by SG-7 and supporting engineering and science teams, the SGC at the behest of the Global Council claimed the site and renamed it Eleron Station. The station is mostly built into solid rock of the planets crust, with only a relatively small portion visible on the surface, the station extends down several levels into the crust before reaching the true extent of the mines.
The resident Science team believe that initially the Elders merely used the vertical Mohole method basically digging downwards before expanding further horizontally. Eleron has been expanded by the SGC, with facilities that are no longer required for the sustainability of the base, said facilities have been refitted to serve as morale facilities or hydroponic farms to allow the station to grow a portion of their own food.
Enigma Station:
Planet: P8X-362
Focus: Planetary evaluation
Population: 150
Established by: SG-10/ SG-11
Enigma Station on planet P8X-363 is a scientific station focused on the evaluation of the planet in regards of a possible future civilian settlement.
The planet is situated perfectly within the habitable zone around the solar systems star, its orbit is similar to that of Mars, but its atmosphere is more akin to Earths except for slightly higher levels of oxygen and nitrogen. At first glance the planet is almost perfect for the establishment of a permanent civilian settlement, however after careful analysis of the planets water, it proved that most of the planets liquid water possesses high concentrations of sulfide minerals that make it toxic to drink.
This toxicity has also caused damage to the native flora, where no flora of any kind is found within a 12 metre radius from any pool of water. The current focus of Enigma station is to analyse the water sources around the stargate site and determine whether or not there is a means of making the water safe for drinking and use on the body.
The researchers there are also examining and performing tests of the soil and environment to provide details for the Evaluation report that shall be given to the Global Council. These tests will show whether or not the soil of the planet is capable of being used in any form of farming be it Earth based or alien crops. As well as this, a small section of the Station are in the process of extracting the Sulphide from the soil and water to produce a special Sulphate fertilizer to support existing civilian settlements.
Helios Alpha:
Planet: P8X-987
Focus: Planetary Evaluation - Civilian Settlement
Population: 400
Established by: SG-1 / SG-10
A planet of extensive deserts and rocky mountains where water is concentrated deep underground, P8X-987 was another planet that was discovered by the Elders centuries ago and abused for all the resources that were of importance for them.
Although the planet has suffered from natural disasters since the Elders left, most notably the strengthening of its Atmosphere which has made the planets natural temperature extensively high. There are signs of habitation before the establishment of Helios Alpha, the main evidence being an abandoned settlement near where the Station has been established, the settlement consists of spacious corridors carved into the rock, large rooms, what is believed to have been a small arena and even some signs of farming within indoor facilities.
Research into the settlement is still unable to determine whether this was something done after the Elders or before, however some bones were found that are eerily similar to those of the mutons. With two theories being presented to the Global Council, the first being the most likely that these Mutons were likely left behind when the Elders were finished with the planet and eventually died out. The other being least likely, that the planet may have in fact been the original home-world of the Mutons and this settlement may have been the last vestige of their civilisation or the last survivors of the Elders invasion and exploitation of the Muton species.
Due to the presence of this settlement, the Global Council and the SGC have begun work refitting the settlement to allow for habitation once again, Helios Alpha is the station established to conduct the work. The station was placed directly next to the settlement which extends underground and connects to two large Mohole's on either side of a large rock formation.
It possesses several housing units for the engineers and researchers to rest and recuperate after their work as well as full canteen to serve food. Due to the planets harsh environment several water recyclers and aquifers are in place to ensure that the teams present have enough water to drink as well as wash themselves. This was deemed important for not just the physical health of the teams but also their mental health due to the difficulties they are working in.
At the moment the settlement refit is on schedule with the first group of settlers living within the Helios Alpha Settlement, these colonists are primarily Mutons and Berserkers along side several Vipers, all of whom wish to make Helios Alpha their new home.
Omega Station:
Planet: P3X-1279
Focus: XCOM Military Station
Population: 1,500
Established by: SG-3 / SG-6
A major fortified base, Omega Station on planet P3X-1279 was originally established by the Advent Coalition apparently under the orders of the Elders, the reason is currently unclear however it is placed a relatively considerable distance from Earth, which raises more questions. The base was abandoned during the war of Liberation on Earth, apparently the fighting on Earth was more important than an off-world base at the time. When SGC teams went through the Stargate, they came out within the base itself which apparently had been constructed around its own Stargate which was situated within a mountain.
The facility is still not fully functional, but despite this the SGC has decided to set up an off world station on the planet with the base itself being the heart of the operation. Omega station already possessed a number of facilities, from an Elerium generator that provides more than enough to power the entire base when construction is completed, there is also an aquifer to supply water both for drinking as well as cooling, medical facilities and of course defences. Advent set up a series of several turrets outside the base itself as well as reinforced blast doors at the entrances as well as at certain points inside.
Construction efforts are ongoing to complete what Advent abandoned, with some facilities within the base being altered to serve multiple species at once, one section of the base is being converted into a recreational area for morale, whilst another is being converted to serve as basic farming facilities to allow the base to supply itself.
The Bases primary purpose is to maintain a place within the Defence Perimeter around Earth in case of the Elders returning, to support this role, the bases hangar was expanded to allow for a squadron of XCOM fighter craft and some Sky-rangers for long range recon.
Orion Station:
Planet: P3X-808
Focus: SGC Military Outpost
Population: 200
Established by: SG-11
A temperate world similar in size to Mercury but with an environment and atmosphere similar to Earths. Most of the planet is covered with large mountain ranges that can encompass most of the continents, patches of flat areas are present but are spread out, the planet also possesses a planetary ring that comprises entirely of ice, most being no larger than a grain of sand but some Ice fragments are as large as vehicles and some are even larger.
Orion station was originally a site that had been established by rogue XCOM elements, however when the site was identified by the SGC, an operation was launched to capture it and all personnel using the site and return them to Earth for trial. Afterwards rather than simply abandon a location that proved capable of being used as a military site, the SGC set up its own mission station instead. The station is small and limited in its capabilities however plans are in place to begin expansion of the outpost to support more personnel and more facilities. At the moment the outpost primarily has several small hangars to support and maintain at least 2 squadrons of fighter craft, built slightly beneath the earth are the barracks, mess hall and command room, besides this there is little present within the base.
This is believed due to the limitations of the rogue elements in terms of manpower and resources, but now with the backing of the Global Council Orion station is considered partly operational with expansions underway to improve the capabilities and functions of the base. At the same time a small research section has been established on the planet to perform careful analysis of the planet itself, since the planet is so similar to Earth, it has been decided to possibly attempt a colonisation settlement somewhere on the planets surface.
Osiris Station:
Planet: P3X-7763
Focus: Planetary Development
Population: 300
Established by: SG-5
P3X-7763 is a planet that has been earmarked for civilian colonisation, the planet has passed the carefully established principles to determine the habitability of a planet for colonisation. Though planet is slightly colder when compared to Earth, with global temperatures rarely reaching 15 degrees Celsius, however the atmosphere is safe and breathable, the soil is fertile and capable of supporting farming efforts for all food crops necessary to support all the different species on Earth.Osiris Station was established to serve as the construction base and the heart of the research efforts on the planet, the aim of the station is to properly build the 2nd stage colonisation effort, which includes more sustainable facilities to provide power, water and of course the construction of greenhouses to provide food.
At the moment Osiris station is almost totally dependant on Earth for resources and supplies, though a engineering section has been completed and 3d printing is in effect to provide parts for machines and equipment.
Pioneer Station:
Planet: P3X-797
Focus: XCOM Military Installation
Population: 300
Established by: SG-2 / SG-3
Serving as a primary base of operations for XCOM and SGC classified operations, specifically against factions that have been encountered by the SGC expeditions through the Stargate.
The station is built within a mountain of pure bedrock with only access available through the main access doors or through the Gate Room, both of which are heavily defended with automated security turrets, guard posts and defensive emplacements. The base also possesses several reinforced blast doors that can isolate sections of the base in case of a breach, as a final failsafe, the base also hosts a self destruction system which requires the authentication code of three ranking officers.
For security reasons, these codes are changed at a random time frame ranging from months to days, depending on the threat level present across the claimed planets.
Besides this, the base was constructed to have encrypted solar communications systems enabling it to maintain limited contact with operations underway or with other XCOM facilities across the stars and of course with Earth. Within the base is a fully guarded intelligence section, where specially trained and carefully chosen analysts, communication experts and scientists work to keep an eye and ear out for communications from hostile organisations as well as to maintain a constant watch for any sign of the Elders.
Sahara Station:
Planet: P3X-989
Focus: Planetary Evaluation - Civilian Settlement
Population: 100
Established by: SG-1
Evidence from P3X-989 brings out a rather dark history, based on the records of the planet in the Stargate database left behind by the Elders, as well as research and scientific excavations at certain locations across the planet. Show that the planet designated as P3X-989 was once the original home-world of the Sectoids before the arrival of the Elders.Based on this, Sahara station and its outpost were built to conduct research on the planet, the base was built at the exact location of the Stargate, as well as the relative protection from atmospheric radiation and the ease to access drinkable water. The planet has very clearly suffered from the Elders exploitation, it appears that after they conquered the Sectoids, the Elders as they have done with other worlds, strip mined the planet without any care of the consequences.
Sadly there is no remains from the sectoids civilisation if any existed before the Elders, for any evidence was turned to rubble or dust when the Elders harvested what they wanted from the planet. Sahara station is the heart of research efforts to uncover anything that might remain of the Sectoid origin species and any possible cultural elements or artifacts still buried.
Due to the radiation danger, the base and the outposts are surrounded by a protective energy system that prevents hazardous levels of radiation reaching the base, the station itself also has a series of small labs and research stations alongside barracks and canteen to allow for crew morale. To support the research efforts across the planet, an engineering team even constructed a planetary research vessel to enable research teams to conduct long range excavations and transport research materials and supplies over long distances very quickly.
Zion Station:
Planet: P4A-771
Focus: Scientific Research / Resource Extraction
Population: 900
Established by: SG-1 / SG-7
P4A-771 is presumed to be a planet comprised entirely of a single ocean that covers the entire planets surface, though there is some scientific evidence that the planet may have once had some landmasses, however some even occurred which resulted in a rapid rise in sea levels.
With much difficulty, Zion station was set up to serve two roles, the first is scientific research on the planet specifically the unique ecosystem that has developed within the planet wide ocean which includes shallow coral reefs and more. Zion station was built with careful consideration for the oceans encompassing it, various safety and security features were built into the structures whilst careful protocols ensured that the stations inhabitants were kept safe.
Power was maintained through a mix of generators that converted the oceans current into power as well as geo-thermal generators that harvested efficient energy from geo-thermal springs nearby. Due to the fact that the planet is an ocean, the need for a water provider is not necessary however an aquifer was built to separate the salt and any other possible harmful elements from the water. This aquifer supports a hydroponics facility that provides sufficient food to the inhabitants, as well as a separate hydroponic facility where research is conducted on native aquatic plant life.
Whilst efforts are focused on Scientific research, there are also automated efforts in the extraction of rare metals found in veins across the ocean floor, this is done under the strictest protocols to prevent any damage to the oceans and the ecosystems as well as with safety regulations to ensure the protection of those who work in the refinement facility.
Factions known to the SGC:
Since the establishment of the project, the SGC has come face to face with factions that range in their goals and capabilities. Regardless however the majority of these different factions, organisations and splinter groups are officially listed as either criminal, terrorist, anarchist or even open hostile entities.
They are classified in terms of threat level, the higher the level the more considered a threat to the Earth as well as their hostility. Directly Hostile meaning that the organisation or faction is openly aggressive to the SGC, the Global Council and XCOM, usually because they perform actions that are directed against the SGC, not directly hostile means that although they are not openly hostile the SGC, meaning they'd rather retreat and or avoid a fight, the faction or organisation will engage SG teams or law enforcement if they feel it necessary.
Non Hostile is very clear cut, in that the organisation or faction does not perform any action that is directed against the SGCs efforts or is not in any form willing to engage in a fight against the SGC and prefers instead to surrender.
Rogue XCOM:
Threat Level: Medium Threat - Not Directly Hostile
Goal: Expansion of Earth Defence Perimeter / Elimination of possible threats
Not all of XCOM are comfortable with the situation on Earth or the cautious use of the Stargate, not long after the Stargate Program was shuttered and became nothing more than a custodian program meant only to guard the stargate and ensure it was never used by anyone. A group of XCOM scientists, engineers and soldiers became disillusioned with how the Global Council was working and how XCOM became too "Relaxed".Against orders these Rogue elements infiltrated the Stargate Facility before the SGC was established and used the Stargate to establish a base on a currently unidentified world. From this base they have begun what they call establishing the defence perimeter, setting up defensive and observation outposts to provide an element of protection against the possibility of the Elders returning.
They are also known to conduct acts against groups and even other species that have been encountered by the SGC, often these are usually clandestine operations to gather information, obtain technologies and other research materials that could be used in the defence of the Earth. However at the same time they have also conducted acts against the SGC such as attempted sabotage of civilian settlements on other planets, they are also known to operate on Earth itself, where they use insiders and operatives within various circles to gather intelligence as well as identify possible threats.
Several ships have been reported missing from starports across Earth that were used by Advent and the Elders during the occupation. Records show these were small saucer craft that were similar to those used as scout ships during the initial invasion, intelligence believes that the Rogue XCOM are using these vessels as transports to get around the Stargates.
According to the latest intelligence, the Rogue XCOM are currently engaged in a clandestine war within the shadows against the Advent Remnants on other worlds as well as against EXALT here on Earth. As of this report, a total of 9 rogue XCOM cells have been identified and dealt with, with a total of 23 rogues dead and 76 captured.
They are noted to have military levels of co-ordination, a substantial supply of weapons, munitions and explosives, have a number of former XCOM scientists and engineers working with them and if certain thoughts are to be believed, supporters within the political authority of Earth. Though they are deemed a Medium threat and not directly hostile to the SGC and XCOM, cells of the organisation on Earth have engaged in gun battles with law enforcement when Reclamation Agency and XCOM attempt to arrest them.
The Advent Remnant:
Threat Level: High Threat - Directly Hostile
Goal: Renewal of Advent Coalition
After XCOM won the war and the Elders chose to abandon their position on Earth, it was thought that any vestiges of Advent had surrendered. This was proven wrong following the beginnings of the Stargate project, after finding and securing the Stargate facility, it was discovered through various data files and computer systems, that just before Advent finally surrendered, a great number of Advent units and collaborators fled through the Stargate to a currently unknown planet. The Advent Remnant as they have been dubbed by the SGC, XCOM and the Global Council are a collection of Advent peacekeeping units, scientific and political leaders who used the Stargate to escape the collapse of Advent on Earth with the intent of rebuilding on another world, with the long term goal of returning to Earth and reclaiming the Advent Coalitions position as the sole power on Earth.
As of the moment, the Advent Remnant operate from a single planetary stronghold which is currently unknown by the SGC, where they use the planets stargate to establish a series of resource collection sites as well as great number of military bases from which they have begun to conduct raids and attacks against any non Advent factions, species or settlements.
The Remnant are still a capable force, though they are not as strong and militarily capable as its predecessor, the real Advent Coalition. The "Peacekeepers" of the Remnant are still driven soldiers despite the limitations of their weaponry and capabilities, they still possess the Advent indoctrination that was used on Earth during the occupation. Tests conducted on the corpses of Remnant soldiers have shown that all are clones of at least two or three Advent templates, which proves that the Remnant possess a Cloning facility that enables them to replace their military strength.
The Advent Remnant are classed as a direct threat to Earth by the SGC as their goal is to retake Earth from XCOM and possibly re-establish a link to the Elders wherever they are. They are known to conduct direct attacks against SGC personnel when encountered and are openly hostile to any other organisation.
Despite the hostility they present, it is believed by Intelligence that the Remnant have a rather small power base, due mostly to their limited infrastructure which limits their capabilities when it comes to producing materials, weapons and equipment. As well as this blood samples from dead Remnant soldiers show signs of degradation in their DNA, it is thought by the SGC science section that this is due to the constant cloning of a limited number of templates, which has possibly forced the Remnant to clone their existing clones. In effect the Remnant have copied a Genetic code so much that they are now running out of time before they are unable to clone more soldiers.
The Deicide:
Threat Level: Medium Threat - Not Directly Hostile
Goal: Location and Elimination of the Elders
A break away group of the Skirmisher faction, the Deicide are "God Killers", as their name translates to "the killing of a God", which sums up what the ultimate goal of the Deicide is, they intend of using the Stargate network to locate the Elders and kill them.It is unclear when the Deicide formed, but it has been traced back to the end of the war on Earth, when the Elders fled, to this day there are fears among XCOM and the Global Council on the possibility of the Elders returning and attempting another invasion and occupation of the Earth. The Deicide wish to put an end to the threat that the Elders present once and for all, by finding and eliminating them all before they can become a renewed threat once more.
It is unknown when exactly the Deicide went through the Stargate, if at all, but since then they have established a small number of encampments that they use to scour the planets around them to find any trace of the Elders. A base was discovered by the SGC, left abandoned by Deicide, apparently once the organisation is able to positively determine that the Elders are not in proximity to a particular base they move on to another planet and begin the process again.
They are also known to possess a small number of cells on Earth which provide logistical support to the outposts established by the group as well as recruit new soldiers. Its unclear how these new recruits as well as equipment and munitions are sent out, Intelligence believes that the Deicide use a Psionic Gate to move through to another planet close to Earth that possesses a Stargate. However this has yet to be determined.
Whilst they are not Hostile to the SGC, XCOM and the Global Council either on Earth or any other planet, they are known to open fire on law enforcement and military forces during attempts to capture any of their operations.
The Avengers:
Threat Level: Medium Threat - Not Directly Hostile
Goal: Locate and get revenge on the Elders
Similar in regards of the Deicide, the Avengers are a radical group of aliens who have a similar plan in finding the Elders, however unlike the Deicide its not about ending any possible future threat. For the Aliens of the Avengers, the whole reason for finding the Elders is to exact what they deem "The Vengeance of Untold Generations", for as it is now more clearly known, the Alien species that served the Elders did so in servitude after they themselves were conquered by the Elders over the centuries. The Avengers wish to get payment in blood for the generations of enslavement and experimentation that the Elders inflicted on their ancestors as well as themselves. Its unclear how exactly, but some how a number of Avengers were able to get through either the Stargate or perhaps a Psionic Gate. But what is known is that their numbers were small but now with the "Successful" reintegration of aliens and hybrids with humans in normal lives, a number of citizens notably former soldiers have gone missing with evidence suggesting that they joined the Avengers.
They are a military organisation and are believed to have a strict command structure though its believed they operate a cell network across Earth as well as active military units on other planets, possibly with stolen Alien star-ships. These Earth bound cells provide logistical support to these active units, providing food, supplies, munitions as well as any new recruits, these are transported by Avenger used star-ships that take them to an unknown location somewhere near to Earth.
The Avengers are according to intelligence and interrogations of captured individuals, highly motivated and well equipped with weapons and armour stolen from former Alien and Advent Armouries or purchased through the black market. Although they are not directly hostile to the SGC, XCOM and the Global Council, there have been hostile interactions with them off world and on Earth, with the latter being between them and law enforcement whilst the former is usually when encountered by SG teams or even within Civilian Settlements.
They are deemed a medium threat by intelligence due to their focus being more about finding the Elders rather than fighting us, however they are still recognised as a threat as they threaten SGC efforts by harassing SG teams and off world sites usually to steal equipment and technologies they do not have access to.
EXALT:
Threat Level: High Threat - Directly Hostile
Goal: Overthrow of Global Council and XCOM
An old adversary of XCOM has decided to raise its head once again.
During the initial invasion 25 years ago, when XCOM was the middle of resisting the Alien invasion, a transhumanist organisation known as EXALT began to sabotage XCOM efforts. Research projects were hacked, EXALT operatives attempted to incite panic and even attempt to beat XCOM to alien technologies. The goal of EXALT was to uplift and "evolve" humanity, they saw the Alien invasion as an opportunity to achieve their goals and seize power, for whilst EXALT wish to see humanity evolve, they seek to do so by establishing a global government under them. During the Invasion XCOM managed to successfully launch a series of covert operations to locate, identify and eliminate EXALT cells across the world, eventually XCOM even managed to locate and take out EXALTs headquarters. However the Commander noted that at the time he noticed but didn't pay much attention to certain small details.
The first was that despite the location being EXALTs headquarters where most of their efforts were concentrated, it wasn't well built up with the facilities to produce the weapons and technologies that EXALT was using, they also noted that the headquarters wasn't very well defended nor did XCOM find any leaders within the base. In the aftermath of the base raid, EXALT cells either went into hiding or were dismantled by national law enforcements, however it appears now that EXALT never really went away but merely decided to retreat to regroup and reorganise. When the governments of Earth surrendered and Advent was established, EXALT decided to cling to the shadows again, probably because they knew they didn't stand a chance at toppling Advent.
According to intelligence, the goal of EXALT hasn't changed, they still seek to uplift and evolve humanity by building a single one earth government under their direct control. Their methods are partly similar to those used during the invasion period, they operate a series of sleeper cells scattered across the world using a variety of different means to incite discord and anarchy. Reclamation agency believe that EXALT may be behind the troubles to occur in city 31 with the Shrike Network, this is supported with the Shrike Network apparently receiving external backing in the form of supplies and funding.
In recent years though with the Stargate, it has become apparent that EXALT are in the wider galaxy as well, its unclear how, but it appears that EXALT have begun sending out cells of their organisation to other planets within the Stargate network. Their intention is unclear, though it is possible that they are seeking to cause trouble to SGC operations off world as well as cause trouble in civilian settlements established on other planets, or perhaps even attempting to harvest unknown technologies for their own advantage as well as keep them out of SGC hands.
Their years of reorganisation and rebuilding have paid off however, EXALT operatives are highly trained and very well armed, though their cells on Earth are more clandestine and attempt to remain hidden, those that operate off world are more akin to a well organised and well trained militia force. These units have proper armour, equipment and are very clearly well trained, they are also very motivated and totally loyal to their cause, any and all attempts to capture EXALT operatives anywhere have all resulted in the same outcome, the operative commits suicide by any means necessary to ensure they cannot talk.
EXALT is officially classed as a terrorist organisation and a deemed to be a high risk to the SGC and the Global Council, for they are more than willing to trade punches with XCOM and according to a member of the SGC who was once a member before they defected.
"They are ready for Round 2".
Oversight:
Threat Level: Low Threat - Non Hostile
Goal: Removal of XCOM in charge of SGC
Oversight are a civilian organisation that seek to sabotage the SGC to bring about a complete restructuring of the Stargate Program, they wish to see the program and all aspects of the Stargate placed under the control of a civilian authority rather than the military.
They are non aggressive and instead use espionage to conduct their operations, these can include attempting to hack the SGC systems, doctoring of mission reports, theft of materials and equipment as well as the discrediting of SGC personnel. Alongside other methods, all with the purpose of embarrassing the SGC and force the Global Council to take the Stargate program away from XCOM and establish something new in place of the SGC, something that is civilian led rather than military.
Oversight are also known to conduct unauthorised missions through agents within the SGC civilian personnel, mostly researchers and scientists, the goal is to prove that a civilian led program can do better work than the current program which is predominantly led by the military. Other actions like those said before, can include sabotaging the SGC, an example is when an Scientist who was working for the SGC but was loyal to Oversight sabotaged the automated security protocols in a research lab which trapped several researchers inside, it also very nearly set off the Radiation decontamination protocol across the base, thankfully it was shut down and the researchers saved, with the scientist arrested and charged.
Although some argued that the incident proved the dangers of having the Stargate program under the military command, however the Global Council agreed that the actions of the group known as Oversight had placed the lives of a number of researchers at risk and endangered countless others when the Radiation decontamination protocol was activated. As such Oversight has been categorised as a criminal organisation that threatens the SGC and its mission to protect Earth and its new interplanetary outposts, settlements and bases.
The Smugglers:
Threat Level: Low Threat - Not Directly Hostile
Goal: Profit
A group comprised of humans, hybrids and aliens, the Smugglers are little more than average criminals that have expanded their operations off world. They only seek profits for illicit goods that they transport across the known galaxy through the use of several star-ships that were stolen during and after the War of Liberation. These ships are primarily small saucer craft that were used as scout ships by the Elders, however it is believed they have a few supply transport ships similar to the Avenger used by XCOM during the occupation. It doesn't matter what they transport as long as it turns a profit on the black market, this can include alien technologies, weapons, Elerium both raw and refined and even minerals and materials that the Smugglers mine themselves. They are known to operate a series of black market mines on other planets as well as several smuggler camps where they rest, refuel their ships and "Indulge".
Its believed that these Smugglers are not under single leadership but instead each ship having their own leader with some working together for bigger deals and gains. Whilst they are not openly hostile to the SGC, XCOM and the Global Council, they are known to engage in fire fights when law enforcement attempt to shut down their operations, usually though these are running gun fights to buy time for them to get their goods to safety so they can sell them again later.
Though they are independent criminals, they are known to take on jobs by other factions, groups and organisations known to the SGC, normally this entails the smugglers being hired to transport, goods, materials, supplies or even people between planets in exchange for an agreed payment.
The Independents:
Threat Level: Medium to Low Threat - Directly Hostile
Goal: Establishment a total Independent planet for Aliens and Hybrids
A radical collection of Aliens and hybrids, the Independents seek to establish a totally independent planet and government for the aliens that they feel are trapped on Earth. In the eyes of the Independents, the Aliens that were once enslaved by the Elders and were freed when the Elders fled Earth during the War of Liberation, they have merely replaced the Elders for Earth.
They believe that the Global Council should have offered the Aliens a chance to leave Earth via the use of the Stargate or the countless star-ships left behind in various star-ports, with the intention of leaving Earth entirely and settling some where else. When the group known as Gray Phoenix attempted and was stopped by Reclamation agency, the Independents used this as a rallying cry, here was the government of Earth proving them right, the aliens are prisons on this world.
With the establishment of settlements off world by the SGC, the Independents have upped their game from vandalism and thuggish violence to outright insurrection. Its unknown how, but the Independents have established a series of off world encampments where they attempt to harass and attack SGC personnel during their expeditions as well as infiltrate off world sites, outposts, bases and even civilian settlements with the goal of sabotaging facilities inside.
They are directly hostile organisation that conducts guerrilla warfare tactics against the SGC and Earth, they also are very aggressive in their views on Aliens that work for their enemy, regarding them as traitors and no longer their brethren. Though the Independents primarily operate off-world, they also work several cells across the Earth, its believed that these cells work to sabotage the Global Council, XCOM and the SGC, as well as recruiting Aliens and hybrids with similar views to theirs, gather materials and resources before smuggling them off world.
The Independents movement despite its goals, ambitions and above all their commitment are not a very popular organisation among their own kind, though they have a large force scattered across the Earth and other planets. A great number of Aliens and Hybrids don't have any ambitions to forge a totally independent planet for themselves, many just want to live their lives and be comfortable, with a almost 90% of the Alien and Hybrid population regarding the Independents as nothing more than Terrorists.
This has been reinforced by reports of Independents attacking Aliens and Hybrids that work for the Global Council, XCOM or the SGC as well as acts of vandalism such as fire bombs on businesses and locations that have resulted in several being hurt and some even killed.
Cobra:
Threat Level: High Threat - Directly Hostile
Goal: Establishment of Hybrid supremacist planet
The organisation known as Cobra, are a militarist organisation of Hybrids that have a strong ethos focused around Ultra nationalism and Hybrid Supremacy. They deem that Hybrids are the supreme species when compared to humans and the different alien species, because hybrids are forged from the combination of the best DNA from all and as such are better than everyone else for it.They regard Earth as corrupted and devoid of purpose and so they desire to seize the Stargate and use it to take them to a planet where they can establish a new "Nation" one that is entirely independent from Earth, specifically a planet for Hybrids and Hybrids only.
Cobra are known to possess through the Psionic gate network a number of encampments and bases across known space, from which they seek out a planet perfect for their goals and desires. These encampments are also bases from which they conduct attacks on the SGC and other alien species, these include harassing SGC expeditions and operations, sabotaging facilities and more.
Originally Cobra were a small group of fundamentals that had very little influence and structure, some analysts regarded them as "All Bark with no Bite". However this rapidly changed when a new singular leader came onto the scene and restructured the entire Cobra Movement.
The group is led by a apparently influential and persuasive individual whom they all dub the Commander, its uncertain whether or not this is a mockery of XCOM Commander, though the individual is known to exist and has forged the organisation into an immediate and viable threat to the safety of planet Earth. Cobra is known to have had an influx of members following the incidents of City 31, with Hybrids that were used as thrawls by the psionic supremacist "Progeny" wanting freedom from Earth as well as the radical members of the defunct Sacred Coil.
Cobra is officially classed as a terrorist organisation and a major threat to the safety of the citizens of Earth, though they are a Hybrid supremacist group, they are known to be very brutal in their treatment of Hybrids who don't agree with their ideology. Evidence of such can be seen with Cobra taking responsibility for the murder of a Hybrid councillor who was an advocate to peace between the different species.
Corporates:
Threat Level: Medium to Low Threat - Not Directly Hostile
Goal: Locate other world technologies for profit
Greed remains strong in the human mind, with the discovery of the Psionic gates as well as the Stargate Network across the galaxy, there are some that have begun to see this as a means of achieving greater profit.
Major corporation and companies, all private industries have been hiring mercenary outfits to go through stolen Psionic gates to an unknown location that possesses a Stargate. The mission these mercenaries get paid for is to obtain technologies or discoveries before anyone from the SGC can, all so they can reverse engineer stolen technologies to mass produce them and make a fortune. The same can be said in regards of discoveries, for instance, say a certain plant on another world possesses acute medicinal properties, such would be worth a considerable fortune to Pharmaceutical corporations.
The mercenaries that these private industrialists hire to perform their dirty work are a mix of former resistance fighters, ex Advent soldiers as well as a few aliens. They are well organised and well armed with some of the best equipment money can buy, as well as this they are known to be very ruthless in the perform of their "contracts", this can include actively attacking SGC personnel, sneaking into and stealing items and research from SGC off-world facilities and even conducting murder on Earth to cover for their "Paymasters".
The mercenaries and their corporate paymasters are deemed to be a low to medium threat due to their actions against the SGC, though they very rarely engage in direct combat and hostility with the SGC or law enforcement on Earth, they are not afraid of engaging in fire fights when they feel that what they are after is worth a small fortune.
First Strike:
Threat Level: Medium Threat - Directly Hostile
Goal: Forceful removal of all non humans from Earth
A radical collective of humans, First Strike are primarily comprised of survivors from the most radical resistance elements from the days of the occupation as well as the War of Liberation. It is their opinion that XCOM should never have allowed Aliens and hybrids back into society and that they pose a direct threat to humanity and the Earth.According to their manifesto, First Strike believe it is their duty to keep the fires of resistance alive and complete the work that has been denied for years. Their ultimate goal is to force Aliens and Hybrids off the planet entirely regardless of intent or desires, they feel that the Aliens and Hybrids are without question will return to the service of the Elders should they ever return, so it is only right that humanity "Strikes First to secure our hard won Freedom".
Operating in small sleeper cells, First Strike are known to operate across Earth as well as on a few planets across the known Stargate Network, its unclear how they managed to get to said planets without a stargate, with opinions differing between a stolen Psionic gate or Star-ships taken from Advent Star-ports. These individual cells work in a loose network with no cell knowing the operations or actions of others regardless of proximity.
Apparently this was a similar method used by resistance groups during the occupation, by not having information on others, should one cell be discovered it cannot endanger others by capture or loss. These cells operate on different levels in regards of their manpower and capabilities, some cells have barely a few members with old weaponry from the days before the invasion, whilst others can have dozens of active members with more modern weapons and explosives.
On Earth, First Strike primarily perform acts of violence against non humans, setting fires to businesses, homes, attacking people, harassing and attacking humans who are in favour of peace between species etc. They are not afraid of going further, with First Strike taking responsibility for a failed bombing of the Reclamation Agency headquarters in Washington D.C, as well as the attempted assassination of an alien member of the Global Council.
Whilst off world, they primarily conduct harassment of SGC operations specifically non human members of the SGC as well as the various outposts and stations established across the stars. They believe that XCOM should be putting more effort into protecting the home front rather than establishing non defensive structures through the Stargates for "Filthy Aliens" to live in.
Encountered Aliens:
Since the establishment of the Stargate Project, the SGC has encountered a number of new alien cultures within the Stargate Network, some are hostile whilst others are more amicable to Earth. Some in fact are former enemies of the Elders and are interested in diplomatic relations with Earth, seeing it as a mutually beneficial arrangement.
The Nexos:
Diplomatic Relation: Negative - Hostile
Sentience: Negative
Status: Extant and Quarantined
An early experiment conducted by the Elders, the Nexos were a failed attempt at combining advanced technology with alien biology, said experiments were conducted on a considerable number of Sectoids at least early variants of the Sectoid species, presumably not long after the Elders had subjugated them. They were discovered by SG teams on P2A-108, the Stargate was within a major Elder facility that was used to research and create the Nexos. From what was obtained from the long dead systems, the experiments were brutal with some Nexos being created with live Sectoids without any anaesthesia, others were created by combining technology with dead Sectoids, all however are no longer alive and instead are sustained through an Elerium power cells embedded within their bodies.
From what has been identified and decrypted from systems on the planet and brought back, the experiments failed to bring about a viable Nexos soldier for the Elders to use. Apparently the blending kept failing and instead of loyal soldiers, the Elders instead produced wild and raging creatures that were incapable of receiving and following orders or were resistant to domestication and training. The fact they possessed a powerful plasma cannon as an arm made them very dangerous, eventually its believed the Elders lost control and chose to abandon the planet and let the Nexos die out.
After encounters with the Nexos, it was decided that due to their hyper aggressiveness to anyone and anything that isn't a Nexos, P2A-108 was placed under the strictest quarantines, with 1 SGC star-ship in orbit of the planet to maintain this quarantine and an order was given to all SGC personnel that under no circumstances could a wormhole be established to P2A-108 to ensure that the Nexos remain firmly and securely quarantined on the planet.
The Selon:
Diplomatic Relation: N/A
Sentience: Positive
Status: Extinct
Found on P3X-989, the Selon are believed to be the original species that all Sectoids alive today are descended from, the species possess both physical similarities as well as genetic traits that can link them to the modern Sectoids alive today. These original sectoids were similar in size to those that were encountered during the initial invasion 25 years ago, standing no bigger than 2 or 3 feet tall when standing straight, their body plan is similar in regards to human physiology, but are much smaller to fit their smaller bodies. It appears that unlike those that were encountered during the Invasion of Earth, these Selon possessed jawed mouths with sharpened teeth, showing that the Selon must have eaten solid foods, likely foods that required no molars to chew.
There is no real indication of what Selon culture or society must have been like, due to the extreme methods the Elders used to subjugate them as well as stripe mine the planet to claim any and all materials that they needed, means that significant and almost total destruction was done to any and all remains and ruins of their culture.
However from what has been gathered, mostly small pieces and materials, alongside a considerable number of skeletal remains. It is believed by the Research section at Sahara Station that the Selon were either in the mist of an industrial revolution or had just passed its completion, such has been shown in various materials discovered from excavations. These include manufactured metal pieces that showed signs of well refined methods of smelting and forging.
Out of respect for all Sectoids, the Global Council have ordered that all Selon remains are to be treated with the utmost respect and when research is complete, they are to be stored properly and with the most care.
The Alerai:
Diplomatic Relation: Positive - Friendly
Sentience: Positive
Status: Extant
An advanced species of humanoids, the Alerai were old enemies of the Elders, having experience the aggression and desperation of the Elders search for the cure to the condition that was afflicting and possibly killing them. According to the histories given to the SGC by the Alerai themselves, their planet was once a peaceful world that was highly advanced on a par with the Elders themselves. However following the attack by the Elders, their world was left a scarred ruin with no hope of sustaining life, such was the extreme of their conflict with the Elders. The Elders apparently decided to destroy the Alerai rather than let them live, the survivors of the genocide retreated on three large "Motherships" that transported several thousand of their people to relative safety.
The Alerai then found suitable world to colonise and began to slowly rebuild their culture and society but this time with greater importance on defensive structures and systems. When encountered by the SGC, specifically SG-1, the Alerai were surprised that the Elders had been successfully resisted and defeated. Though they are unwilling to become firm allies or exchange technology they have accepted friendly relations and are even open to possible trade deals with Earth.
According to a debrief by the members of SG-1, the Alerai still possess the three large saucer motherships that brought their surviving population to the new colony. However they also possess immense planetary defences, which include large ground to space cannons that can take down even the largest Elder battleships as well as several smaller orbital defence platforms that surround the planet itself.
At this time, the Alerai are in negotiations with the Global Council for the establishment of not just a trade agreement between them and Earth, but also for the possible establishment of Embassies on Earth and their new home-world to allow for better negotiations and diplomatic efforts.
The Alerai are utterly terrified of the Elders, apparently according to them, they faced the Elders when they were still at the height of their power, before the "Degradation" that was slowly killing them had taken full effect. And this was when the Alerai were an advanced technological species. They are so afraid in fact that they are open to establishing a defensive alliance with Earth in the event the Elders ever show up again.
The Almol:
Diplomatic Relation: Neutral
Sentience: Positive
Status: Extant
An isolationist species of humanoids, the Almol possess very nearly human body plans, however it is impossible to properly identify the differences as the Almol have never been seen outside of their protective Environmental suits. The reason for them wearing this restrictive suit is in their own terms are requirement of their bodies, it is detailed that the Almol come from a planet with a unique atmospheric pressure, with unique gases that are either not found on other planets or in very low quantities. As well as this they describe their home system to be one that is very dark, describing it as a Shadow Star, where light is very weak. This means that all Almol are susceptible to damage by Ultraviolet light, so much so that it can cause extreme damage to their bodies.
So when not on their home-world they are required to wear these suits to protect themselves and enable sufficient and safe breathing.
The Almol were first encountered by the SGC relatively recently and despite their calm demeanour and their friendly nature, the Almol have no interest in establishing relations with Earth or anyone else, as previously stated they are isolationist and prefer to stay well out of the way of others. Its thought this self imposed isolation as well as the fact that their home-world is one in almost perpetual darkness that they were able to avoid being found by the Elders.
Its also considered by SGC researchers that their isolationist stance may be due to the Elders, with one theorising that the Almol alive today are the descendants of survivors from a previous Elder invasion and that the Isolation is to try and avoid the same fate as their ancestors. Despite attempts to prove that Earth is not the same as the Elders, the Almol have made clear that whilst they were not perform any hostile act against anyone or anything from Earth they might encountered through their Stargate.
They have chosen to remain isolated and will not allow anyone onto their home-world under any circumstances. Means of communication are through the use of a signal relay on a planet both the SGC and the Almol know and have access to, if it is required that the SGC or the Almol require a discussion, the signal is to be activate by either side.
The Blisk:
Diplomatic Relation: Negative - Hostile
Sentience: Undetermined
Status: Extant
A dangerous species similar to crustaceans or Insects on Earth, the Blisk are a hostile alien race that are rarely encountered by the SGC or other known species. Apparently from what is known the Blisk have a tolerance for high radiation levels to the point that they actively prefer living in locations where the Radiation levels are to their specific desires. Its unknown whether or not they require the radiation for survival or if its just a desire. They are known to be rather large, equal in size and strength of a muton and berserker, with hard shell like armour covering portions of their bodies except in places where movement in necessary. It is as of yet unknown whether they are sentient or not, though they have been encountered on planets with active stargates so it is possible they are capable of understanding and using them.
Again technologically it is unclear how advanced they are, though they have never been encountered to possess technology, since whenever encountered they use a biological projectile weapon that appears to be part of their anatomy, this weapon fires a concentrated radioactive plasma that is produced by the body itself. Such has been proven by the autopsies conducted on retrieved corpses.
They got the name Blisk from encounters with other aliens species that have described them and call them such. Whenever they are encountered, the Blisk always treat anyone else as a hostile and are determined to destroy anything they see as an enemy. Under SGC protocols, no one is to attempt any kind of interaction with a Blisk due to the extreme danger this present, if they are discovered on a planet, rules of engagement dictate that contact should be avoided and when possible, all efforts should be made to avoid being discovered.
The Hive:
Diplomatic Relation: Neutral
Sentience: Positive
Status: Extant
A species of humanoids with body plans reminiscent of humans but with characteristics that link them closer to insects. The Hive is a literal term, for the species that make up the Hive have a hierarchal structure similar to Ants and Termites on Earth, with a Queen and various classes beneath them, praetorian, warriors, workers etc.The Hive are blind in terms of sight but instead possess special sensory organs that enable them to move around perfectly through a combination of sound, smell and vibrational touch, in effect despite the fact they do not have eyes they are able to put together their surroundings without moving even in the slightest. They are known to possess a unique form of communication which is on a specific wave length and frequency of sound, one that is specific to their species and cannot be detected by any other.
From what is known the Hive is not singular, according to meetings between the SGC and the Hive, there are countless "Hives" each with their own queen and culture, originally they all inhabited a single planet, however they then colonised new worlds with each Hive having their own world. At the moment, the SGC have contact with only a single Hive, which is slowly beginning to show progress, with SGC researchers being granted access to their colony.
Communication is done through the efforts of the Hive itself, apparently all by themselves they created a device which they pair with another that goes around their heads, so when they speak with their own language, the device translates what they are saying to words and sentences that we can understand.
On a technological level, the Hive are equal to Earth, though with unique cultural differences with their technology being more focused in terms of their class system, with certain technologies reserved for certain roles in their society. For instance workers are only to use tools and equipment for the roles they have, warriors only use weapons and other such devices etc.
Diplomatically, the Hive are open to talks, however they have made clear that they will not permit any intrusion into their Hive or their culture nor will they allow any threat to their Hive. As such negotiations are focused on trade and scientific exchanges.
The Zudjari:
Diplomatic Relation: Positive - Friendly
Sentience: Positive
Status: Extant
Formerly an enemy of Earth, the Zudjari were first encountered apparently in the 1960s when under the leadership of an extreme tyrant, they attempted to invade Earth with the intention of turning it into a new home-world for themselves. However the XCOM precursor was able to thwart the invasion without exposing it to the public and covered up the entire conflict, following their surrender, the Zudjari were permitted to leave after aiding with the clean up across the planet. After that day, they continued their search for a new home world until they were successful, now decades after leaving Earth, they have been rediscovered by humanity and unlike before where the Zudjari were hostile, they are now more friendly.
It appears that after successfully establishing a new home on a suitable planet, they discovered a stargate and began using it to explore without the use of their ships or "Venn gates". They are similar to Earth and the SGC in that they primarily use the Stargates to explore, establish outposts and settlements, all of which are peaceful, since finding a new home, the Zudjari despite still having an impressive military have changed much since they left Earth.
Apparently not long after they left Earth, the Zudjari encountered the Elders and chose to flee rather than fight, it appears that despite their military strength, even the Zudjari couldn't face the Elders on their own. Like Earth, they are fearful of the Elders and their possible return or worse having face them at their full strength, so much so that the Zudjari leadership are open with forging an alliance with Earth with the intention being a defensive alliance against a single common enemy.
