This is a tale about something different, in the canon the Dwarven realm of Khazad Dum also known as Moria was lost when the Dwarves delved too greedily into the mountain for wealth, which awakened a great evil known as Balrog which drove them out.
Despite attempts to reclaim the great realm all failed until Gandalf the Grey later the White vanquished the Balrog and after the defeat of Sauron, the Dwarves of Middle Earth felt it was time to reclaim their ancestral home.
This story is a fan fic for the game of the same name in which the player or players if on multiplayer are tasked with traversing the ancient realm. Spoiler warning of course.
Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria
It was a time of change, Sauron the deciever was defeated, with the loss of his One Ring, he was forever caste out from the world.
The Elves had gone on their great migration back to the Undying Lands of Valinor, leaving the splendour of their cultures and kingdoms in their wake. The Age of Men had truly begun, the Kingdom of Gondor in the south had a king once again, Aragorn son of Arathorn, had been crowned as Elessar, High King of Gondor and the reclaimed Kingdom of Arnor.
But for the Dwarves the time had come for the reclamation of their ancestral home lands, an expedition had already reclaimed the sacred stones of Mount Gundabad where Durin himself first awoke at the beginning of the world.
Yet there was still a dream, to return to where Durin himself had found the Mirrormere where he looked down and saw the crown and stars appear in his reflection. The greatest Kingdom of the Dwarves in the world, Khazad Dum, known more commonly as Moria.
The Lord of the Glittering Caves, Gimli son of Gloin who had founded the colony within the caverns behind the great fortress of Rohan, known as Helms Deep, felt that the time had come for the Dwarves to return home. Although the King under the Mountain in Erebor was against the proposal, Gimli sent word to all the Dwarves of Middle Earth and beyond to their fellow Dwarves from the other 6 Dwarven clans.
Many answered the call and travelled the distances to expeditions main encampment on the western side of the Misty Mountains, where together they drained the lake in which the Watcher lurked forcing it back. Yet despite their efforts they could not open the doors of Durin, the mythic door that would only open to those who were "Friend".
Among them was a Dwarf from the Kingdom of Erebor, the Lonely mountain, Orin was his name and he was a veteran of the Siege of Erebor during the War of the Ring. Alongside him was Bera from the Blue mountains further to the West, where the survivors of the Exodus during Smaugs seizure of the mountain found refuge and built a new home.
There was Dwenu, from the Iron hills, she had been a hardened smith and crafter for her kin in the battles against Orc, Goblin and wicked men.
From the far east was Thrimbuk, a Dwarf from the far off Kingdom known as the Orocarni, a Dwarven kingdom in the Red Mountains that had been long cut off from Middle Earth due to Sauron. A rough Dwarf that was hardened by years of mining and carving stone from the mountains he called home.
Finally from the south came Funa, a she dwarf from the long isolated Dwarven kingdom in the Coastal Mountains, only recently been able to reunite with their Cousins to the North with the reunification of the Kingdoms of Men under King Elessar. Funa was a expert healer and keeper of plants that the Dwarves used much for their crops, mushrooms were her favourite, but beyond that she was a master cartographer and was working with others to keep track of their attempts to reach the mountain kingdom.
Together during their attempt to aid the Expedition in entering Khazad Dum, the party were unfortunately trapped within the vast darkness of Moria. With their combined skills the party were forced to endure the long Dark of Moria, their first plan was to reach the Doors of Durin and get them opened up from the inside, that way the rest of the Dwarves outside can enter, but more immediately, They! could get out.
Upon finding the doors, though they discovered that the doors had been marked with dark runes and spells ensuring that none could open the door. Around the door were the skeletal bodies of a great many orcs and goblins scattered among the long lost dwarves from the last true attempt to retake Moria.
recognising the situation, the party agreed that they would make the long journey eastwards towards the Dimrill Gate. For this they would need to prepare, they found an encampment that had been used during the days of Balins company which they used as their home base for the time they were there.
From this camp, they settled into a steady routine of exploring the halls around the camp, harvesting resources, killing Orcs and goblins alongside preparing for the first step in their journey. To reach the halls that would guide them to Durins Highway, which if they were right would lead them further along the route eastwards towards the true heart of Moria.
Over a period of several days the party explored the area around their camp and found various ruins and remains of the old Khazad Dum, when they all agreed they were ready. The party abandoned their current encampment and moved on into the Immense mines that sit at the heart of the kingdom.
Upon passing through into the mines, their first goal was to establish a new encampment for them, given the greater number of orcs and goblins around them. The party needed a place that was safe for them, where they could eat, rest, sleep with relative safety.
Within the Higher Mines they were able to discover a great deal of wealth just waiting for the Dwarves to reclaim, with only simple torches and glow stones they found vast amounts of untapped minerals including the precious Mithril. Along the way they encountered more and more threats that proved difficult at times for the party to contend with, so it was agreed that when possible they would push on towards the Halls of Dwarrowdelf where they might be able to find a better chance of safety, as well as more weapons and equipment.
They knew that the last survivors of Balins company that had attempted to retake Khazad Dum many years before made their last stand within the Halls of Dwarrowdelf so they might find more weapons and armour. Even if not, they might be able to find materials and tools needed for them to make said armour and weapons.
Within the Mines, the party were in much difficulty, as their encampment was under constant risk of being discovered by Orcs and Goblins. But worse still it was within the Mines that the party discovered a Drake a creature similar to a dragon but much smaller, this somewhat answered questions as to why the party were finding a great number of Orcish and Goblin bodies throughout Moria.
But this did not stop them from exploring, from their relatively safe camp, they explored the areas around, finding all kinds of equipment to help them on their journey. Mostly broken down carts that were previously used to pull minerals and tools through the different parts of the mines, after some work they managed to get a single cart working. With this one cart, they were able to transport their supplies relatively easier rather than carrying it all on their backs.
The whole time they travelled however as well as explored, they used a collection of parchments they had on them to construct a crude map of Moria as they went, the idea was, having such a map would enable them to know where they have explored, where they haven't. Wherever they went however they roughly marked out where they had set up their camps along the way, should they ever have to find them again as well as in hope that when the Dwarves began reclaiming Moria properly, they could be used once again.
After the mines they reached the Road, the long expanse that stretched from one side of the Mountains to the other, practically connecting East to the West. Since there was very little along the Road, they all agreed that they would not stop until they reached the other side, as there was no real place for them to set up camp in safety.
Once on the other side, they explored a little bit until they found a relatively safe place to set up a new camp, from here they explored the various halls and chambers that had been constructed around the great city of Dwarrowdelf. Among them were long lost armouries and forges, more than that they uncovered artifacts and records from the time of Durin the 1st, the legendary Dwarf that awoke in Gundabad and walked the land before founding the Kingdom of Khazad Dum.
From here they pressed on, but having to combat orcs, goblins and other foul things along the way proved difficult, more than that some passages and routes were blocked by rubble and debris or had were barricaded by Orc and Goblins. This meant that their travels meant having to follow the twists and turns of the Halls never really ever going in a straight line.
Eventually they finally reached the great realm and Dwarf City of Dwarrowdwelf, by far the greatest and oldest of the Dwarven Kingdoms, as one they were taken back by the grandeur of their ancestors in ages past. They settled into a new encampment near its vast halls in a side chamber, where Balins company had set up many decades before.
Whilst within Dwarrowdelf, the party uncovered something truly inspiring, whilst exploring around the city, they uncovered a blocked hall which after some work revealed to be the entrance to the Tomb of Durin himself. Orin and Dwenu immediately started praying to their founder upon seeing his Tomb still in its glory. Knowing its importance, the Party agreed that they would reseal the chamber and the tomb within but would mark it on their map for when the Dwarves truly return.
After several days of exploring, gathering materials and equipment, they agreed to launch a scouting mission toward the Bridge of Khazad Dum, which would take them to the Eastern Gate. From what they were told by Lord Gimli, they knew that the bridge was partly broken by the Wizard Gandalf during his battle against the Balrog known as Durins Bane.
But a shock met them when they finally caught a glimpse of the bridge, a dragon was present, emitting a dark magic upon the passage beyond the giant chasm. Knowing the danger, the party returned to camp and through a Raven of Erebor warned the Dwarves outside of the danger. As well as that, they saw just how bad the Bridge was damaged and how much work it would take to get across.
They would need some strong materials to construct a proper bridge for them all to get across with all their equipment and gear as well as their supplies of food, water and beer. Don't ask, Dwarves are Dwarves. Plus they had to contend with the constant risk of being discovered by the Dragon, so knowing the work ahead of them, they moved their camp from the city, closer to the bridge and chasm, within a chamber not far from the bridge itself.
From here they worked to construct the materials and tools they would need to construct a new bridge to get across, as well as that they started using an improvised forge to construct new, stronger weapons and armour, for if or when they had to face that Dragon.
Which turned out to be very much so, in preparation of the fight, the party fashioned together some ballista's and solid bolts to use in combatting the beast. They designed a detailed plan, in which they would lure the beast into a confined space where it couldn't fly away, then they would bombard it with their ballista bolts.
Though the plan didn't go as they intended, they were able to with much difficulty able to kill the beast and in doing so break the spells it had placed on the entrances to Moria. Upon their return to the bridge of Khazad Dum, they found that the spells had indeed been broken, all they had to do now was construct a bridge and cross over back out into the world.
Due to the giant chasm that the Bridge crosses, it would prove difficult, but since the Dragon was now defeated they could set up a new camp on the edge of the Chasm from which they began their work. Over several days they worked the stone of the remains from the old bridge so that rather than having to replace it entirely they could fit a new one on top.
Only when they were certain that it would hold, they ventured across and found the Dimrill Gate to be sealed up but the chambers surrounding it to be safe and clear of any threat. With some muscle and grit they finally managed to get the doors open and meet their brethren outside.
With much joy and celebration, the entire company enjoyed the victory of their brethren returning from the darkness of Moria alongside their victories against the orcs and the death of a Dragon. Even King Thorin Stonebearer, the King of Erebor came to greet the party and praised them for what they had uncovered, declaring that finally Durin could reawaken once again and lead them back into Khazad Dum.
He called the members of the Party to be the new Lords of Moria in unison and asked for them to lead the company back into the mountains to start clearing the kingdom of what darkness remained. Gimli agreed and wished the party luck.
After many days of preperation, the party now the Lords and Ladies of Moria led a contingent of Dwarves through the Dimrill Gate. There within the Chambers around the Eastern Gate, they established a new prime encampment from which they would work to reclaim their ancestral kingdom.
Orin became the master of Battle, leading Dwarven fighters equipped with some of the best armour and weapons the company could forge, into fights against the Orcs and Goblins along with the other dark creatures within the City of Dwarrowdwelf and beyond.
Bera from the Blue Mountains worked with other builders to maintain the encampments their party had founded across Moria from East to West as they pushed further and further. As well as establishing defensive barricades where they were needed such as at the Bridge of Khazad Dum which would see much work following their return to ensure that it was properly restored.
Dwenu returned to his forge, taking what the Dwarves found from their excursions through Moria into equipment and materials that the company would need to keep pressing further and further into Khazad Dum.
Thrimbuk took up his pickaxed once more, not just as a Miner though, he began working to clear the rubble from the halls that had suffered damage from cave ins or dark creatures messing with the dwarven architecture.
As for Funa, she began working once again with two tasks, on the one hand ensuring that the company didn't go hungry as well as keeping track of their work in what was becoming the ledger on the Restoration of Khazad Dum.
Together with their growing company of Dwarves, they worked to cleanse their ancestral Kingdom of the remaining evils that lurked within. When word finally came that Durin had returned once again, the party readily and willingly surrendered Khazad Dum to Durin and gifted to him a Crown of Mithril that they had mined themselves.
And so the Dwarves returned to Moria in the true sense of the word and remained there prosperous and peaceful.
Until the world grew old and the Dwarves Failed
And the Days of Durins Race were ended.

This a break away from the tv show that I love, as well as Strategy game of the same name, this tells basis of the fictional character who commanded the Colonial fleet during the 1st War against the Cylons.
Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock
During the first Cylon war, in which the Colonial Fleet was still in its relative infancy, the shipyards known as Daedalus was serving as the prime headquarters for the fleet following the loss of the infamous Galactica.
Admiral Caine was put in overall command of the fleet, but she left operational decisions to a newly promoted officer, Commander Rigel Khan. With his new role, Rigel had the duty of finishing the construction of the Jupiter Classes as well as ensuring that they were safely delivered to their respective colonies.
Which at first was proving exceedingly difficult, as the majority of the fleet was lost during a battle, leaving Rigel Khan with a small number of patrol craft and viper squadrons. His initial plan was to buy time, following an engagement with Cylon forces in which they were victorious, Khan noted that the Cylons didn't send a larger force than they could have.
So in his mind the Cylons didn't know that the true strength of the fleet was lost in the previous battle. So his plan was to buy time to rebuild the fleet and keep the Cylons at bay with smaller engagements, focusing his limited forces in carefully targeted missions.
His intent was to disguise the true strength of the forces under his command whilst gathering the much needed support from the 12 colonies which the fleet desperately needed for supplies greatly needed for the construction of more ships and recruitment to crew them properly. Which was difficult as most of the Colonies were lacking any defences of their own as the ships assigned to protect them had either been taken by the Colonial fleet and then lost or had been destroyed by Cylon attacks.
This was proven even harder as wherever he lead his small but growing fleet he was forced to face more and more Cylon incursions which only got worse as the enemy sent more dangerous vessels. When the Fleet was finally able to start producing more advanced ships such as Artemis and Minerva class Battlestars they were spread out to defend the colonies from attack.
For months the Colonial Fleet under Khan attempted every effort to hold back the Cylons whilst also being forced to engage in Colonial politics to gain the support it needed. When some of the Colonies went back on their promises and made a partial peace with the Cylons. The Daedalus station was abandoned within the depths of a Nebula after the Cylons cornered it with Khan and barely a hand full of his ships making a desperate escape.
Months following this disaster, under a new Admiral, Khan was once again put in charge of the Fleets efforts to combat the Cylon threat only this time he would command from the C.I.C of the Galactica herself. However unlike before he wasn't tasked with defending the Colonies specifically, such was being delegated to other fleet detachments.
Instead it was his mission to combat the Cylons directly which meant taking the fight to them to deal deadly blows against the Cylon fleets in various missions across Colonial Space. He was involved in a variety of Operations including the infamous Ghost Fleet where he secretly passed on ships clandestinely under the guise of lost in battle.
Although Rear Admiral Khan is not well known among the civilian population for his efforts against the Cylons as other Colonial Leaders. But within the Colonial Fleet it is identified that it was because of the efforts of Rear Admiral Rigel Khan and the officers under him that the 12 Colonies did not fall to the Cylon machines following a brutal defeat for the fleet.
Numerous successful missions and operations against the Cylons as well as various other actions to defend the 12 Colonies resulted in Rear Admiral Khan being promoted to a Full Admiral which he remained until his retirement.
He died of a heart attack 3 months before the fall of the 12 Colonies.

You know what I might actually do a full character sheet for this one next, found it enjoyable!.
This one is based slightly before and during the events of the Elder Scrolls V Skyrim, telling the basis of a mercenary party that is made up of people who that technically hate each others people.
Elder Scrolls: The Band of Misfits
Upon the Continent of Tamrial there are many people of legend from any of the races that call the different lands of Tamrial home, but then there are those who are practically normal folk who do all kinds of things but end up stuck behind the heroes. Such usually come around in the form of mercenaries and sellswords, despite the fact that Tamrial have all kinds of Guilds from the Fighters Guild centred in Cyrodiil to the Companions in Skyrim.
But there are a few bands that like to work independently from any guild or groups, such has its advantages, freedom to go wherever they want, not having anyone standing over them or a hall demanding a piece of the action. Of course it means that they are not as well known as the guilds as it is harder to get into contact with them, usually its a matter of such a group turning up somewhere and offering their services out or finding flyers and notices posted by prominent figures.
One such group is a literal band of misfits who hail from all across Tamrial, they include nearly one of every single race known in the world. And they come from nearly every walk of life.
There is Venatus an Imperial who is a veteran Centurion of the Imperial Legions who has a strong hatred of the Aldmeri Dominion for the brutal acts the Thalmor committed during the Great War, but a strong and capable soldier. Astea Granal a High Elven Sorceress from the Summerset Isles who has a strong distrust of the Empire and the Human races for their worship of a Human as a god, but whose spells have proven of great worth to the party over the course of their travels. Ursis a Strong Nord Shield Maiden from the cold lands of Skyrim who has a hatred of the Aldmeri Dominion and a mistrust of the Empire for outlawing the worship of Talos. But has never been shy about charging in to help her companions in a tight spot or a bar fight.
Then there is Oleed-Ja a hardened Argonian fighter from the swamps of Black Marsh, who is an experienced Guerrilla fighter, but has a strong hatred of Dunmer [Dark Elves] for the enslavement of his people throughout the centuries, yet he is fearless when fighting alongside his companions. There's Rolisi a Dunmer assassin from the ash covered lands of Morrowind, she has a fierce hatred of Argonians for their invasion of Morrowind which brought about the death of several members of her family, but her skill with a blade and the shadows has helped the party many times.
You have Ja'Viir a Khajiit from Elswyer who is an experienced thief and is quick with a bow, but the distrust surrounding Khajiit follows him wherever he goes. From the mountains of western Skyrim and Eastern High Rock comes Solrow, a Forsworn raider who has a hatred of Nords for their annexation of lands that belonged to the Forsworn, but his skill as a fighter and expertise of surviving in the wilds has always made sure the party stays safe in the wilderness.
Born to the Orsimer Tribes, their is Orohug a strong warrior and fierce Berserker who is mistrustful of nearly every race and nation in Tamrial due to how his homeland of Orsinium being sacked numerous times, but he finds working with the party beneficial to his people with the money he makes going to Orsiniums rebuilding. Then there is the Redguard Sword Master, Ennen coming from the deserts of Hammerfell, he has a mistrust of the Empire as they demanded the Redguards giving up a lot of land to the Aldmeri Dominion. Though he finds that by travelling around he is able to gather information for his people back home.
Then finally there is Faegin a Bosmer hunter and scout from the forests of Valenwood, a strong believer of his peoples Pact with nature, he has a distrust of the High Elves notably the Thalmor who have subjugated his people since they took control.
Together they make up the party and despite all the troubles that followed having hatred and mistrust of one another races and peoples, they have managed to forge a strong bond and even in certain cases love. Venatus and Astea found love between one another despite the tensions between their homelands, Solrow and Rolisi found comfort in each others arms despite their constant arguments over Solrow needing a proper bath and real clothes.
Even with all the issues they have faced from each others prejudices, whenever a quarrel begins within the ranks, it always seems to end very simply with them all coming together into a Tavern and getting exceedingly drunk. After which the problems from the day before are very quickly forgiven and put into the past.

Havin played the Total War game, Warhammer 2, I found myself intrigued on the Dark Elves who are the polar opposites of the High Elves, as is usually the case. But in Warhammer it seemed that the Dark Elves are even more so. Murder and killing each other being common for the sake of advancement or elimination of political adveraries.
But such raises the question, could there be someone that no one can bring down?
Warhammer: The Right Hand of the Witch King
Within the realm of Naggaroth, the land of harsh winters, where the Druchii, the Dark Elves rule in absolute authority, looking down on all beneath them. Where no Dark elf wields a plough, a hoe, a pick axe or works to build, for all work is beneath the Dark Elves and is the duty of the wretches they have enslaved.
They care nothing for the sanctity of life, where the entire world exists only for the pleasure and wishes of those who are Strong. In their eyes, the lesser races are nothing more than chattel, lower than insects just waiting to be ground beneath their boots if no use can be found.
Not even the Dark Elves themselves are safe in Naggaroth, for every position within their society is under constant struggle, betrayal, disgrace, scandals and assassinations are common as those below attempt to rise in the hierarchy, whilst those above do what they can to hold onto what they have.
Ruling over all is the Witch King himself, Malekith the exemplar for all of the Dark Elves and their divine ruler, for as long as Malekith rules, none dare to challenge his wishes or his words. Across the Dark Elven Kingdoms in the frigid lands they call their own, his word is absolute and none would wish to get on his bad side.
Beneath him is a collection of Advisors and Nobles that make up the Black Council, a collection of 100 of the most powerful Dread Lords. To receive a seat at the Obsidian table is considered an incredible honour, but also an almost certain death sentence for the unprepared. For fewer Dreads Lords leave the Council than enter it, for Malekiths favour is fleeting and he is not above seeing a Dread Lord torn to shreds at a moments notice.
Despite this, there are a few Dread Lords that have managed to ensure that they remain in his favour, chief among them, is Malekiths own mother. But there is one other that none dare to challenge, in Naggaroth Commanders of the Witch Kings armies and fleets are given glory for each victory they bring, but are to quick to face disgrace and the blame for every defeat they suffer. Such often brings about a fall from favour and if they are lucky expulsion from the Council.
If not they will face Malekiths rage of which there is no "cure".
But there is one Dread Lord that has remained in the Witch Kings favour despite the disgraces he has faced through the ages. This Lord is Vecat Shadowmantle, the Commander of the most powerful of the Witch Kings army, Vecat has remained as a loyal and trusted advisor and aid to Malekith even after he has suffered military defeats.
Some regard him as the Malekiths right hand, the hand that hold the sword, since whenever something of importance comes to Malekiths ire, it is Vecat that is called on. If a Dark Elf kingdom grows too disobedient despite the fear of Malekith, it is Vecat that shall be sent to lead the Witch Kings armies in their punishment.
Many question in secret why it is that Vecat is so much ingratiated by Malekith, for he is known to question the decisions of the Witch King openly in the Black Council and has even brought disgrace upon himself during military campaigns. Where he suffered ignominious and humiliating defeats, even when he should have been able to gain the victory desired.
In all cases, such dissent is pushed aside when it is learned that Malekith trusts and keeps Vecat around because he is not shy to speak his mind and tells the truth. In one situation the Witch King himself declared "When Vecat speaks to me, he speaks words that I need to hear, not what I want to hear". In essence Vecat speaks truthfully to Malekith and never attempts to word his way out of a situation or cover up something else with half truths.
Whenever he suffers a defeat on the battlefield he is quick to follow it with a victory that overpasses the failure, for some commanders the idea is clear to them. Vecat deliberately loses a battle to learn about his foe, so that he can bring about a decisive and total victory.
Vecat himself has even stated "A great commander can win a battle but lose the war, I would rather destroy my Lords enemies completely and utterly so they may never rise again".
More Generals and Commanders in service of the Witch King are fearful of the one called Vecat, for it is said that he is not afraid to respond should any dare challenge his authority and leadership. In some tales, he grasped a Dark Elven Commander by the throat and broke his neck for a slight insult. Another time, it is said he had several overseers of a mine buried alive, when he learned that the slaves had been slacking, he made clear to everyone there, from then on no one was above punishment for failure.
And that extends to the soldiers under his command, Vecat always makes clear that he has no desire for anyone who seeks only glory over performing their duty to the Witch King himself. Those that do are very quickly "Removed From their place". Which is putting it nicely, some stories say that he had one commander fed to the Black Dread, a large black dragon alive. Said dragon was a gift to Vecat by Malekith himself supposedly at the request of Lady Morathi.
The reason, because although that individual had disobeyed Vecats orders and not held his forces back until called on, preferring to seize a chance at glory.

Based on the Hogwarts Legacy game, this is part of a larger story I have planned for the future, don't ask when exactly. The Basis is simple, in the game the players character possesses the ability to see and use ancient magics, but in the game there is no real explanation as to how or why. The Idea I formulated is that the Players character is a direct descendant of a legendary wizard and as such has inherited unique magical abilities.
During the course of this altered fictional version of the players character instead of using the Room of Requirement as a "Study" they discover the sanctuary of an ancient secret society that is then reformed by the Player alongside friends and allies. This is the story of that society before and after the main game and further on into the true story of Harry Potter.
Some spoilers for the game of course. Also this one is quite long, since I started it as part of something else a long while ago, before I got side tracked by other stories.
Harry Potter: The Circle of Magic
Foundation:Following Merlin's victory in defeating the dark arts user and half sister of Arthur, the now famous witch Morgan Le Fay, more commonly known as Morgana. Merlin recognised that the threat to the Magical world was still great, so with the support of King Arthur and assistance of his friend Atrius, he established a secret society known as The Circle of Magic.
The Circle would consist of people from across the Magical world, whether they are witches and wizards or from the varied categories of beasts and beings, even non beings like Ghosts. His hope was that with such a group working from behind the scenes the innocents of both the magical and non magical worlds would be safe after both he and Arthur had passed on.
Many members of the Circle are in fact famous in their own right due to efforts and achievements during their lives. A number of them are forever remembered not as members of the Circle which secretly they are, but are instead remembered on cards found within Chocolate Frogs.
Purpose:
The purpose of the Circle was clear and precise, its sole duty was to act in the defence of the Magical world from any and all dangers to it from within. This could include anything from the rise of Dark magic users, to dangerous individuals that threatened the peace of their world.
The rules of the Circle were however clear, the secrecy of the Circle had to be maintained and upheld in order to ensure its own safety. So instead its members would work from behind the scenes. Operating from the halls of power or from with their own families, organisations or factions they had connections with. Using their Influence the Circle would ensure that their goals were met, often using manipulative methods, but never to the point that they themselves held absolute power.
For the accumulation of power for Selfish reasons or for reasons that went against the purpose of the Circle was forbidden as written by Merlin himself.
Dissolvement:
The Circle of Magic found its end following gruelling arguments in which many of its members worked to convince the global wizarding world to go into hiding in order to prevent further bloodshed and death for both themselves at the hands of the non magical world and retaliations by witches and wizards on the non magic.
They were inevitably successful with the enacting of the International Statute of Secrecy by the Magical world, this lead to the wizarding world going underground and actively hiding its existence from the "muggles". By this point the Circle had become smaller and smaller following the growing divisions between the various groups within the Magical world, this lead to many not wanting to work with the Circle or be true members.
Finally in 1698 the Circle of Magic was formerly dissolved, with only Atrius, the Keeper of the Circle remaining in the Sanctum hidden within Hogwarts. He chose to remain just in case the Circle was needed again, as well as ensuring that all the knowledge held inside, the various books, potions and magical items remained safe.
Noticeable Members: Ancient and Before founding of Hogwarts
Following the victory of Merlin against the Dark Witch Morgana, the Founding of the Circle primarily consisted of Merlin himself, King Arthur of course alongside a number of their closest allies. At first the Circle was relatively small at first due to it primarily being focused around the British Isles and later how many he and the other founding members could trust to bring into the Circle itself, as it began to establish itself across the world in secret.
Over time however such changed as more were brought into the Circle from across the world. To try and aid the magical world, the Circle also included magical beasts and creatures of human levels of intelligence with the intention of a shared future.

Noticeable Members: Before Statute of Secrecy
As time went on the Circle of Magic began to weaken as the world around it changed, the magical and non magical worlds were on the brink of outright war with the Non magical world seeking to do more than just persecute but wipe out anything to do with magic. All under the belief of their beliefs that such use of Magic was demonic and outright evil.
As well as this, the Circle was weakening as the magical world itself began to fragment, tensions were rising between the Wizarding world and the Goblins, other parts of the Magical world were no longer included within the Circle making the group very Witch and Wizard centralised rather than encompassing others.

Noticeable Members: During Dissolvement
Following the International Statute of Secrecy, the Circle was a shadow of its former self as many had left the Society with the intention of working to improve the magical world in their own way rather than through the Circles guidance.
As well as this the Statute of Secrecy brought an aspect of peace for the Magical World as the fear of being persecuted and hunted by the Non Magical world was no longer evident. For a period the Circle attempted to work in favour of the Statute ensuring its enforcement across the world, but it was then decided that ultimately the Circle was no longer capable of upholding its mandate properly and so by unanimous vote, the Circle was disbanded.

Rebirth:
During the 1800s a Goblin rebellion wracked the British Isles once again, a Goblin supremacist called Ranrok had uncovered a "Chalice" of pure ancient magic which he harnessed and passed on to weapons and armour for his followers, their goal to overthrow the Ministry of Magic and install Goblins as the supreme beings of the Magical world.
During the course of their time at school a Student named Marcus Pendragon uncovered the Sanctum of the Circle hidden in Hogwarts castle and with the aid of the Keeper of the Circle, several other students, a few teachers and trusted allies outside of the school restored it.
Together they decided to reform the Circle of Magic, with Pendragon believing that such a society was needed once again to protect the magical and non magical worlds. Following the defeat of Ranrok and safely sealing away the stored Ancient Magic locked deep beneath Hogwarts Castle, Pendragon was voted in as the new leader of the Circle and following his graduation from Hogwarts alongside that of his fellow members, they began the long work of restoring the Circle.
Recognising the problems of the past, Pendragon established a series of new rules for the Circle, that all elements of the magical world were to be represented regardless of the situation, so he invited Ghosts, a House Elf, a Centaur and Goblins into the Circle to ensure this mandate.
For years following his graduation, Pendragon worked in secret to restore the Circle to its former glory and by the time of his passing, the Circle had become a secret society that spanned the entire Wizarding world, with members everywhere in all levels of society.

Future Members:
Through the ages the Circle of Magic has remained ever present in the world, inviting new members and growing beyond the boundaries of the old order. It played key roles in ensuring that the Magical and Non Magical worlds did not get caught up during the Great War between 1914-1918.
And later it worked in secret to bring about the end of Gellert Grindelwald during the Global War which ended when one of its own, Albus Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald. It would later aid efforts in secret against the next Dark Lord, Tom Riddle also known as "He who must not be named". With many members joining a new organisation the Order of the Phoenix in an effort to bring about an end to the reign of the Dark Lords terror.
It would repeat the process years later, with members maintaining a close watch on a boy named Harry Potter and then later working within the halls of the Ministry to try and make the Minister for Magic acknowledge the Dark Lords return. Following the Battle within the Ministry in which the Dark Lord was revealed to the Ministry to have returned.
The Circle worked in secret to gather support for the Ministry's efforts as well as aid in resisting Death Eater attacks, following the overthrowing of the Ministry by the Death Eaters, the Circle worked alongside groups that resisted the new order, such as the Order of the Phoenix by providing them safe houses and smuggling people away from the Death Eaters.
Following the defeat of Voldemort and the restoration of the Ministry, the Circle recruited a number of survivors from the Battle of Hogwarts into the Society and to this day continues to act behind the scenes.

Being a partial fan of certain elements of the Marvel Cinematic and Television Universe, I sometimes remember a little game we had in Secondary School during a particular English lesson, where everyone was to create a Hero and a Villain. Well here's one I never put to paper. It is linked in with a small time franchise, Prototype where the player is a "Anti Hero" that could turn themselves into another person or make their arms into weapons. I would recommend the two games for the Franchise.
Marvel: The Primordis
Somewhere hidden away upon the Earth as with nearly every planet in the known universe, there exists a pool of Life, in Human terms it is sometimes referred to as the Cradle of Life, where all forms of life began. But the Cradle exists with a danger within, for it hosts the power of life itself, in essence it possess the power akin to the Fountain of Youth, empowering those that take a drop of the primordial ooze within can heal even fatal injuries in an instant or prolong their lives.
Beyond that however, nature requires a balance and so just as the Cradle of Life possesses the power to save and restore life, it also possess within it the opposite, hidden within is the very essence of death itself, the reason is clear for without Death, Life cannot exist and vice versa so neither can destroy the other. It is from this Cradle of Life and bearer of Death that Primordis arose, though they take on the form of a human man, they are not a true being, they feel and appear real but within one would find no skeleton or muscle for they are made entirely from the essence of the Cradle. They do no age, have no need to eat, drink, sleep just exist, further more the fact that they are born from an "Entity" that existed before any life began they are not bound by the laws of the natural or unnatural worlds.
This means that even their body is not bound to a singular form, they are able to turn their fingers into long metallic claws, fists into huge solid hammer like fists, an entire arm into a long blade or a sharpe claw at the end of a whip.
They are completely able to ignore anything that could kill, at one point after threatening the Avengers, Primordis stepped off the Stark Tower and landed on the street below leaving a large crater from the impact, but walked away like they had just taken a step off the pavement. At one point Iron man had shot a blast at Primordis and all they did was scratch their nose, Hawkeye shot an arrow into their back, Primordis physically put their hand into their ooze like body and pulled the arrow out the other side. Thor unleashed a torrent of Lightning against them and Primordis walked through it all.
The reason behind the Avengers taking Primordis on was because of their placement of Ethics, as far as Primoridis is concerned, they exist solely to protect the Cradle of Life. If that means that they must perform a brutal act then they see no issue with that, during their time on Earth there are theories among the Avengers and their allies that Primordis has been either directly or partly involved in nearly every form of catastrophe through the different ages of human civilisation.
At one point whilst in S.H.I.E.L.D's "Custody", Primordis noted that he had witnessed humanity at their darkest points, the Sacking of Rome, the fall of various Empires, the destruction of the Mayan Civilisation, the slaughter of millions. But this doesn't mean that Primordis is a total villain, they have made clear that through their time on Earth, they have ensured that death has been properly balanced with Life, for instance when the Black Death was running out of control, they ensured that it was challenged and eventually defeated.
Every attempted to capture and restrain Primordis has always ended in failure as no method has been able to contain them and so the plan was to keep track of Primordis which has again been a complete failure as every attempt to follow and track Primordis has always lead to the loss of several SHIELD drones and was made clear during the first attempt nothing is able to properly track Primordis.
To this day, no one knows exactly where Primordis dwells, though based on what is known, it is thought by Intelligence agents that whenever they are not required, Primordis returns to the Cradle of Life to watch over it and ensures its protection.

Being a fan of Jurassic Park/World Franchise since I was a kid, I have always liked it, with some hits and misses over the years, but this is partly based following the Movie Jurassic World Dominion where Dinosaurs are now a part of the world with some living in the wild with others being captured and sold off to the highest bidder.
In this style, a Global organisation was established to protect the Dinosaurs, the sanctuaries they live within and ensure the safety of people from those Dinosaurs that are dangerous.
Jurassic Park: The GDPW
Founded initially following the release of Dinosaurs from the Lockwood Manor, the Global Division of Prehistoric Wildlife began small starting with a few offices across the world with their headquarters being in a small office wing of the United Nations building in New York.
However following the Biosyn Scandal, the G.D.P.W was brought in with the support of individuals such as Doctors Alan Grant, Ellie Satler and Ian Malcom alongside individuals such as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing. Biosyn Genetics was officially seized by the United States as well as other governments across the world with all technologies, resources, materials, facilities and properties being handed over officially to the G.D.P.W.
Under its mandate, the G.D.P.W would be a non profit organisation similar in respect to organisations such as the Society for the Protection and Care of Animals. They would receive some funding from the governments that signed the Prehistoric Agreement in which all signatories were required to reduce practices that involved the research and creation of extinct species and enforce laws to protect the animals already in existence.
The headquarters of the G.D.P.W would be within the Yucatan Peninsular of Mexico bordering Guatemala which was deemed to be a more viable environment for Dinosaurs in general. Rangers and palaeontologists alongside Paleo Veterinarians would be sent out to assist law enforcement and animal protecting groups across the world when Prehistoric wildlife was found or criminal elements involved in the Black Market of prehistoric wildlife and Cloning were uncovered.
Or in the event of a problem dinosaur becoming a danger to itself or humans in proximity to it, such as for example a Nasutoceratops causing trouble or a flock of Pteranodons and even in more extreme cases Aquatic reptiles in the worlds seas and oceans. Of which the animals were taken to secure facilities where large "Lagoons" had been constructed large enough for the animals to live comfortably.
However more often than not only the most dangerous of Dinosaurs were taken into proper captivity within one of several facilities constructed by the G.D.P.W such as the United States Department of Fish and Wildlife station in the Nevada Desert. If possible however the G.D.P.W would instead take Dinosaurs to one of the many enclosed sanctuaries that had been established specifically for the Dinosaurs within which the G.D.P.W rangers would patrol and protect as well as researchers and palaeontologists would conduct studies of the animals in the wild.
When possible the G.D.P.W try and return animals into a more wild environment away from humans whilst also attempting to educate people on how it can be possible to live peacefully with Dinosaurs. If a Dinosaur is not a danger then they cannot interfere, but if for instance the animal is a danger either to itself or to humans then they will either if it is a medium or large carnivore transport it to a secure facility where it can live happily and peacefully in captivity or in the case of herbivores be relocated to a sanctuary where it can live peacefully in the wild.
From a small offices in the U.N the G.D.P.W was able to grow quickly with branches, facilities and sanctuaries across the world.
