Mass Effect: Aftermath
(This is an idea of mine where instead of Shepard having to choose, the Crucible is altered so that it sets off the Destroy ending but only destroys the Reapers and not all synthetics. Be warned there are spoiler warnings and involvement of the Mass Effect 3 Expanded Galaxy Mod as well as a few embellishments that I felt would make the narrative a little more pleasant, the ending of the Franchise is entirely based on choice, this story is solely based on the choices I made through the games.)
War comes to an end:
The war was over... the Reapers were defeated, as a burst of Energy erupted from the Citadel and Crucible, as the wave hit the system, passing organic and synthetic beings. Soon they all watched as the Reapers and their armies began to fall to the ground. Followed by cheers all across the planet Earth as the soldiers fighting in London knew what it meant.
Soon though a second more concentrated beam of energy shot out of the Citadel towards the Sol Relay, which passed it on to the next and the next and the next and on an on the beam went as each relay soon sent out the same burst of energy that killed every reaper in the Galaxy.
Soon cheers were being heard everywhere, from the radioactive rubble of Tuchuncka to the battle scarred cities of Thessia and the moon of Mena above Palaven.
Days after the victory, the Allied Fleets reconvened and began the process of reorganising. Admiral Hacketts first order however was for ships from all fleets to search for the S.S.V Normandy and for the an entire Battalion of Marines to search the ruins of the Citadel for Survivors.
After two days contact was established with the Normandy, which after being hit by the wave of energy from the Crucible crashed landed on an uninhabited world in the Alpha Centauri System.
After Alliance Engineers arrived to support the Normandy crew with repairs, they all immediately asked what had happened to the Commander.
It would be another day until a message from Hackett himself arrived with three words only "We Found Him!".
After arriving on Earth the Normandy Crew went straight to visit him, Shepard himself was overjoyed to see that they were all safe, especially Liara T'soni who Shepard had a Romantic Relationship with.
Aftermath:
Years down the line things had changed in the Galaxy.
Squad:
Shepard:
After the Battle of the Galaxy and his successful recovery, Shepard was promoted by the Systems Alliance to the rank of Admiral and was awarded the highest possible honour from all of the Council Races.
The Citadel Council even created an Award named after him. The Paragon of Shepard.
Despite needing recovery Shepard was instrumental in the formation of the New Council, he pushed for the involvement of all species that had fought together during the war, regardless of what any history or mistrust between each other. Although an Admiral, Shepard wanted to return to the Normandy as soon as he was able, stating "The Normandy is my Home... and when you want to get better you go home".
However 2 years after the Battle of the Galaxy, Shepard was greeted by a brand new Normandy SR3, a brand new class of vessel that was three times the size of the SR2. Capable of having a small contingent of Marines, a small squadron of fighters, two Kodiak shuttles as well as an M35 Mako, an M44 Hammerhead and two A-61 Mantis Gunships for support.
After the tour of the SR3, Shepard in front of the whole crew asked Liara to marry him, obviously she said yes. And the two got married on the Bridge of the SR3, with the whole crew either present or watching on monitors, despite multiple requests to have the wedding have the wedding shown across the galaxy, Shepard refused saying a wedding was a place for loved ones not the whole galaxy.
This new Normandy would be the mobile headquarters of a new Task Force that would operate under Shepard's direct spectre Command, the duty of the new force was to ensure continued peace for all species. Despite the fact that unit had an official name The New Council Spectre Unit, the entire Galaxy calls it only by the name everyone gave it... Task Force Shepard.
Years later, Shepard would retire from the Unified Council Navy, stating that the time had come for a new generation to lead and take the galaxy into the future. He would return to Eden Prime and establish his own farm on the planet where he would spend the rest of his days with his wife Liara and Daughter Benezia.
Joker:
In the aftermath of the battle of the Galaxy, the Normandy SR2 was damaged to an almost critical state. And after several weeks of hard work to restore the ship to a means of interstellar travel and even then the the Normandy was limited due to a damaged FTL drive, which meant that the ship could only go a limited distance.
Thankfully Joker had not moved to the Relay of the Sol System instead he took the ship to a system near Alpha Centauri.
After the revival of the Normandy and the return to the Galaxy, he was frustrated that he was unable to help his Commander when he needed it most, not only for not being to help after the battle but for having to leave the battle entirely when Shepard needed the Normandy most. Joker would soon discover that it was his Commander that had been helping EDI, to become more and more of a living being rather than a just another advanced A.I.
And when Shepard got married, Joker was asked to be the bearer of the rings, which he accepted with pride.
Despite his wishes to remain on the Normandy, Joker had an incident where his condition worsened and with regret he had to leave his home on the Normandy for treatment. For a time Joker was on forced to remain on the Citadel where Shepard allowed him and EDI to stay at his apartment, despite the constant therapies he had to go to Joker didn't sit quietly he became a part time tutor at the new Unified Council Flite Academy. Despite EDI being on the new Normandy, with her body she went alongside him every step of the way to support him.
And a year later Joker returned to the Normandy's Pilots chair. He did however make a comment however saying "Someone's messed with my chair"
Garrus Vakarian:
In the aftermath of the Final Battle, Garrus was torn in his loyalties, on the one hand Palaven had been hit brutally by the Reapers with such strength that the strongest military in the Galaxy was nearly butchered. And Primarch Victus wanted all resources focused on the reconstruction of Palaven and the other colonies before the fleet, Garrus wanted to return to his home-world and help organise the renewal.Yet he also wanted to stay alongside his long time friend Shepard, but at the request of the commander, he finally returned to the Turian Hierarchy to help his people. But he did make the promise that he would come back to the Normandy if only to make sure that the Main gun remains properly Calibrated.
A year after the end of the Reaper War, he fulfilled his duties to his people so much so that Primarch Victus asked if he would be the first Turian Member of the Councils new Task Force Shepard. Garrus knowing full well that Victus already knew his answer accepted and after greetings with his all the friends he had made over the years, went straight to the Gun Deck and checked the systems.
He grew frustrated because someone had not only moved his stuff, but had done a shoddy job at keeping the Main gun in good condition. During his time of the new SR3 however, the relationship he began with Tali Zorah continued and the two adopted a young boy who had been orphaned during the Reaper War.
Ashley Williams:
Despite everything that had happened and her uncertainties, Ashley remained with the Spectres for the New Council spending most of her time during the first post year, hunting down criminal groups and remnants of the old Cerberus. But once the formation of Task Force Shepard, Ashley asked for permission of the Council to join the new Task Force, claiming she would be of better use with them than with the Spectres who were slowly losing their purpose in the new Galaxy.
The Council agreed and reassigned her to the Task Force and under the direct command of Admiral Shepard. Onboard the Normandy SR3, Shepard put Ashley in charge of the Marine Contingent onboard, a task she undertook with reservation as it would be her first true command since she lost her Unit on Eden Prime to Sovereign three years prior.
But after mere weeks she found herself to be worthy of the command after a successful assault on a Cerberus Remnant base. And soon took the position with enthusiasm and treated the troops under her command the same way Shepard had treated everyone under his command, Like Family.
Liara T'soni:
Despite everything that had happened during the war, Liara never lost herself or his willingness to push on. With her secret role of the Shadow Broker, she used her influence and connections to aid in the reconstruction efforts across the galaxy and seek out, if any, surviving reaper forces.
After the creation and unveiling of the Normandy SR3 Liara was chosen by Shepard himself to be the Intelligence officer for the ship and the Task Force it would lead. Everyone in the inner circle they had understood the Joke, that was being made by Shepard, though no one really questioned the decision as after all on the SR3 Liara and Shepard finally tied the knot and a few months later the Normandy welcomed its newest crewmen, young Benezia Shepard.
Despite being a military borderline Law enforcement ship, no one was willing to question Shepards decision to allow his daughter to remain on the ship. Yet for the various members of the crew from the different races of the galaxy she was not only pleasant company as she grew up but a major morale boost during difficult assignments as he cheerful demeanour always cheered them up.
Later in life, Liara joined her husband in retirement on Eden Prime but she continued her alter ego as the Shadow Broker aiding the Galaxy in ensuring that what was saved during the Reaper War was not lost.
Urdnot Wrex:
In the aftermath of the War, Wrex was declared Lord of all Krogan. Thanks to Shepard and the support of the other species Wrex has achieved what he had only dreamt of for years, a United Krogan.
But understanding that the Krogan are in his own words "Idiots" he decided to enact a series of laws that would bind the various clans together for eternity. Although some challenged these laws as they went against various Krogan Traditions, these were merely whispers when compared to over 99% of the clans siding with him.
His first action after the Reaper war was to begin the rebuilding projects in the City of the Ancients, with the backing of the Systems Alliance and the other Council races, including to a limited capacity the Salarians. Tuchunka began to reshape itself from smouldering ruins from a great nuclear war in eons past, into a thriving burgeoning metropolis.
There was another matter that concerned many in the wider galaxy, Krogan Expansion. To ease the fears Wrex made the promise that once the Krogan population was stable the Krogan would conduct a series of population control laws ensuring that they do not overpopulate and become forced to claim more and more worlds.
When the new Unified Council was formed, the Krogan were offered a seat on the Council and graciously accepted, Urdnot Bakara was chosen by the Clans to represent the Krogan in the new Galaxy.
As he promised Shepard after the curing of the Genophage, Wrex named his and Bakaras' first born Daughter Mordin and his first son Shepard.
Tali Zorah:
After everything that had happened, Tali had something that she never even though possible when she was growing up. Her people now had their home-world again, the Peace with the Geth was not only holding but becoming more and more with each passing day.
Yet despite her new homestead on Rannoch, Tali preferred the home she had on the Normandy and she followed everyone onto the new SR3 where she became head of the Engineering section overseeing all the systems on board. During her spare time however she enjoyed the company of Garrus and the two would eventually adopt a young Quarian boy who had been orphaned by the Reaper War.
Despite some difficulty and with the aid of the Geth, Tali began the process of strengthening her immune system. And with time to spare she was soon able to walk among the crew without the need of her mask and the constraints of the Environmental suit.
However she remained ever loyal to her people and would often perform "Pilgramiges" to Rannoch to aid her people and the Geth in talks as well as to pay homage at the Shrine. Where both the Geth and Quarians remember the various people lost to the wars, at its heart is a statue of Legion the first Geth to say "I". Or as Tali would announce upon its unveiling.
"Legion once asked me, If I remembered the question that started it all Does this unit have a soul.... I answered him Yes".
Urdnot Grunt:
When the fighting was done, Grunt deemed he had a task unlike any other. Upon learning that Shepard was missing, Grunt tasked all members of Aralakh company to scour the remains of the Citadel to find him. When questioned Grunt replied saying "Shepard is more than my battle-master... he is my friend... and I stand by my friends".When Shepard was rescued and later recovered. Grunt came to speak to him, at first Shepard thought that Grunt wanted to break him out of the Hospital like Aralakh company had done with him before the Battle of the Galaxy.
But to his surprise Grunt was actually there to just talk. Grunt explained that for the first time since Shepard let him out of the Tank back during the fight against the Collectors, he no longer felt the desire to fight. He said that he had fulfilled his dreams of war, victory and glory, now he wanted to see what peace looked like.
Grunt would be granted leave by Wrex to establish a Krogan Colonial outpost on a new world for their people. Grunt now works as part of the New Spectre Task Force, commanding a shock force of Krogan alongside his Battlemaster Shepard.
Jack:
Once all the fighting was over, Jack went straight back to Grissom Academy, where she was given the position of Chief of Biotic Tutelage. Although she made sure that she wouldn't be stuck behind a desk the whole time, she would continue training the best and most troublesome of the Biotic students. However after a few years, she received a strange message from the New Prothean Protectorate, since the renewal of the Prothean species to the Galaxy. Javik had been finding it difficult to teach the new Protheans to harness their biotics, although he had used biotics his whole life, he had only used it war.
He wanted someone who had used it in other forms throughout the years. Although not the best option, Jack agreed and even brought some of her former Project Ascension students to help.
She would spend the holiday periods at the academy teaching the Protheans how to use their biotics in various ways and for multiple purposes.
Miranda Lawson:
After everything that had happened, Miranda was still seen with suspicion by the Systems Alliance, so much so that she decided to step aside and even tried to return to the Shadows. However Once she learned that Command Shepard was in need of a new Executive Officer for the SR3, she requested if she could take the post.
The reply was that Shepard was expecting her too. Since even after a few years there were still Cerberus remnants, scattered across the Galaxy and the first mission of Task Force Shepard was to hunt them down and ensure the Safety of the Galaxy from the remaining forces that still believed in the now dead Illusive Man.
After a successful year of finding and removing any left over Cerberus troops across the galaxy most notably on Noveria and within the various worlds and asteroids of the Terminus systems. Miranda found herself at an opportunity, mostly because she was previously the second in command of Cerberus, now the group she had been a part of and then turned against was gone.
But she still believe in certain elements of Cerberus, so she took it to the new Unified council for the formation of a new Cerberus, a group of scientists and their security forces that would work under the councils legislation and observation. Although having some misgivings Shepard gave his support on the condition that all communications, reports and activities are shared openly with the Council and the Task Force he commanded as well as the group be limited in its members and must abide by all the laws that the New Council enacted.
The basis of the new Cerberus was the original Cell of operatives that Miranda lead with Shepard's support during the final stages of the war.
Kasumi Gotto:
After completing her work on the Crucible, Kasumi returned to her life in the Shadows, spending her spare time revisiting the memories she had on the Graybox with Kajii. However after several weeks Shepard went looking for her, and thanks to the Shadow Broker, managed to find her.He urged her to let ghosts die, and that she needed to move on, start a new chapter in life. When she questioned what kind of life, Shepard revealed that thanks to her efforts in building the Crucible, the New Unified Council had given her a full pardon for all Crime she had or may have committed.
Shepard then said that a certain Shadowy figure was in need of an expert thief.
The last anyone heard of Kasumi was that she had begun working for the Shadow Broker.
Jacob Taylor:
With the war over, Jacob stayed on earth for several months helping the reconstruction efforts but when that was all done. He decided to try and live a normal life, he moved to the Citadel and took up a position in the C-Sec Academy training a new generation of law officers on keeping the peace but ensuring the rights of all species. He would eventually get married to Dr Brynn Cole and the two would have a son who they called John after Shepard. For obvious reasons they decided to have Shepard as the Godfather of the boy and Jacob asked if Miranda would be the Godmother.
To this day Jacob still lives on the Citadel working to help make the lines less oppressive to certain species.
Zaeed Massani:
With the victory, Zaeed chose to give up the fighting streak of his life and chose to use the credits that he had saved up to buy a plot of land on the beach near Cape Town South Africa.
Soon though he received a message from Shepard informing him that Vido Santiago had resurfaced and was taking the Blue Suns back into the criminal network of its past. Since supporting the war effort against the reapers and aiding in securing the reconstruction efforts in the Terminus systems the Suns had slowly become more and more like their official line, so instead of being a gang of mercenaries and criminals they were becoming a real Private Security Company.
But Vido was taking back to the criminal actions of drug running, arms dealings, piracy and various other crimes.
Zaeed and Task Force Shepard decided to take Vido down once and for all to make sure that the Blue Suns do not return to the Criminal ways of the past. The plan was simple, Shepard and Zaeed would take a squad of marines supported by Mako and Hammerhead armoured vehicles and attack Vido's Compound whilst the Mantis Gunships and Fighters prevent any aircraft from taking off.
Although difficult the fighting was one sided with the Task Force defeating the Blue Suns who had sided with Vido. And unlike his previous encounter with Zaeed and Shepard, Vido was unable to escape aboard a gunship as the Mantis Gunships and Fighters had made sure that his escape route was closed. With no other option available Vido decided to surrender to Shepard, knowing that the Admiral would not execute a prisoner. To his surprise though, Zaeed accepted the surrender and aided in getting Vido to Council Justice, Vido would be sentenced to life imprisonment with no possibility of Parole.
Zaeed would later become the Chief Executive Officer of the Blue Suns Private Security Consultants, the Blue suns would never again be a group of mercenaries or street thugs for the highest bidder.
Samara:
But Samara made sure that the Justicars would continue at least in one form, with permission of the Matriarchs, Samara was able to recruit and train a small group of Asari commandos to join the new Justicar Order.
Throughout the whole time however she would take every opportunity to visit her Daughter Falere at the rebuilt Ardat Yakshi monastery on Lessus. But soon the Monastery was becoming more than just a place for Ardat Yakshi to live away from the Galaxy but soon a site for all Asari who sought to use Biotics as a means of Spiritual Enlightenment.
Javik:
Before the battle of the Galaxy, Shepard took Javik aside and informed him that from the bunker on Eden Prime and the Research Facility on Ilos, a number of Complete DNA sequences had been recovered from the remains of the individuals in the Cryogenic stasis pods. With support of the Council, the Prothean DNA was cloned and reborn, with over 500 individuals being cloned successfully. Although uncertain Javik accepted that the Protheans were able to live again, in a speech to the Galaxy on the rebirth, Javik stated that when he met the commander he said "The last thing the Reapers hear before they die will be the last voice of the Protheans sending them to their grave.... yet now I can say this.... It was not the last Voice... But the First of a new Era"
Javik was asked by the Citadel Council to lead the new Protheans in the settlement of a Colony for his people and was chosen as the First Protector of the Prothean Protectorate.
The Council and Groups:
At the Request of Shepard, the Citadel Council was reformed with all Species being granted a seat, everyone from the Asari, Turians, Salarians and Humans who already had a seat to all those who were only Ambassadors.
Soon all species had a Councillor. The Elcor, Volus, Krogan, Quarians, Hanar, Batarians, Surprisingly the Rachni and later the Protheans and Collectors. Together the Entire Galaxy welcomed the creation of the Unified Council as its new centralised government.
The New Citadel Council would reform the Citadel fleet as well as the combined fleets of its members and would put forward a new task force of special forces to replace the already existing Spectres, it would consist of the SSV Isaac Newton and its support ships and all the elite forces that the allied species had sent to be onboard.
Asari:
After it was revealed that the Asari had been deliberately withholding Prothean Technology from the Galaxy which went against a very law the Asari had enforced alongside the Citadel Council which prohibited such secrecy of important technology.
The Asari lost much in the way of political respect and power, where once they were the political and diplomatic power behind the Citadel, they quickly lost the power they once held, their Councillor Tevos, stepped down and was replaced by a new Member.
Despite it all the Asari stayed on with the Council, honouring the fact that the Allied forces had sacrificed much during the Evacuation of Thessia. Where countless civilians and Matriarchs were successfully extracted from Thessia before the fleets were forced to pull back from heavy Reaper forces.
The Republics honoured this commitment and surrendered all Prothean Technology that the Asari had been withholding from the Galaxy most of which were gifted to the newly formed Prothean Protectorate. And as a gesture of faith and unity, allowed the Asari Commandos who had fought with the N7 operatives aboard the SSV Isaac Newton to stay with their new Comrades and Would support the Task Force which would be encompassed.
For the most part however much of the Asaris effort in the first years following the victory went into the rebuilding of Thessia and all the colonies destroyed by the Reapers.
Salarians:
In the aftermath of the Battle of the Galaxy as it became known, Commander Shepard, Urdnot Wrex and Primarch Victus revealed the subterfuge of Dalatrass Linron of the Salarian Union. Who deliberately tried to prevent the curing of the Genophage and therefore the Alliance between the Krogan and Turians in a time of war and therefore technically treasonous.
This made many Salarians lose faith in their government as did many other Dalatrass, including the Salarian Councillor Valern. Who whilst understanding the fear the Dalatrass had, sided with the Commander on his choice after having several talks with Urdnot Wrex.Due to the efforts of the Union to perform an action that would have sabotaged the entire war effort the Salarians lost much respect from the other species and a great amount of mistrust would follow the Union for years to come. Dalatrass Linron herself was forced to step down from leadership and was placed under permanent house arrest.
However this distrust did not follow all Salarians, those who sided with the Allies despite it all, most notably the soldiers of the S.T.G (Special Tasks Group), were recognised for their bravery and efforts and in turn were commended for such. Many of those units would stay with their newly formed comrades onboard the SSV Isaac Newton and eventually leave S.T.G for the new task force.
One in Particular being Major Kirrahe, who would later resign from S.T.G and sign on with a new Council Spectre Unit as an Intelligence Commando, in his own words "I would be proud to serve alongside an old friend"
Turians:
In the aftermath of the Reaper war, the Turians were in a difficult place, with severe losses on all of their colonies and on Palaven, there once powerful fleet was now numbering half of what it was. Which when considering the size of their fleet before the war was considerable.
Despite this though the Turians would come back, Primarch Victus began a series of resolutions that focused on the rebuilding of the civilian sectors before their military, his hope was that by supporting the people and allowing them to rebuild first would raise Morale of the Turian Hierarchy.
After that was completed the Turian fleet was reorganised and rebuilt to portion of its former strength. And although there had been no reports of reaper forces, the fleet was ordered to conduct patrols across the Galaxy to ensure that there were no holdouts.
Councillor Sparatus supported the Primarch in all efforts and even asked the other councillors for some support where possible, although a number of species offered it was mediocre due to severe destruction of their own worlds.
Victus also granted permission for the various special forces units that had joined the Allied forces on the SSV Isaac Newton to remain, and was instrumental in the creation of the Task Force that would eventually encompass all the special force units onboard.
Systems Alliance:
Earth was the worst of the previous council worlds hit by the Reapers, every major and minor city on Earth had been brutally struck and systematically harvested, very little of the original populations of those cities survived, those that did had joined the fight with the resistance.
For the survivors the hard work of rebuilding had arrived, the Systems Alliance did as much as possible for the reconstruction, but the Fleets soon realised a problem, they had put so much in the way of resources into the Crucible that they were now running low in their stockpiles of minerals needed for rebuilding.
To this end the Engineering Corp began the task of taking the Crucible apart after spending months building it. However a large piece from the armour plating would be used to be a monument to commemorate the hard won victory. As well as this, they began to salvage the broken remains of both the bodies of the Reapers and the Wrecks of Allied Ships for the resources.
It would take over 2 years before Earth was fully rebuilt and a year after that, the various colonies humanity once had spent much time establishing were starting to resemble what they were like before the war.
On top of this the SSV Isaac Newton still stood strong and would continue to serve as the mobile headquarters for a joint special forces Task Force consisting of all the species who had joined the fight.
Krogan:
Under Urdnot Wrex, the Krogan had changed their focus of life, where previously the Clans were more willing to kill each other over power and glory, now they willing to work together. Wrex was crowned Overlord of All Krogan, from his throne on Tuckunka, with permission of the Council nine planets were gifted to the Krogan, Wrex being careful and cautious gave permission for 18 clans, 9 of which were exclusively of the Female Clans, to move to the new colonies and gave each clan a sizable portion of the planet to build upon, there was however one rule no fighting amongst the clans.
The resources these colonies provided to Tuchunka however went not to building fleets or symbols of glory, but instead Wrex put everything the Krogan had gained into the construction of a brand new City. Using the ruined buildings of the City of the Ancients as a starting point he and Urdnot Bakara focused on rebuilding. This City would later become known as Solus after the Salarian who gave his life so the Krogan could have theirs, at the heart of the city overlooking the Market square, a great statue of Dr Mordin Solus was erected to honour him for his sacrifice.
Although many Krogan didn't like the idea of Unification many clan leaders wanted to oppose Wrex yet they soon found their ranks diminishing as those who had joined their clans defected to Urdnot. Soon these rivals were not even recognised as Clans and faded into obscurity.
As for the Krogan Battlemasters who joined the N7 forces on the SSV Isaac Newton, although some returned to Tuchunka. The Majority stayed onboard and continued to serve alongside the various soldiers from the different species that they had begun to call comrades.
Bakara was later recognised as the Councillor for the Krogan People on the Citadel.
Elcor:
Despite Taking crippling destruction to their home-world of Dekunna, the Elcor found strength with their alliance with the Humans. Thanks to the efforts of the Systems Alliance Fleet, the Elcor were able to evacuate not only their fleet but also a considerable portion of their population.
In gratitude they allowed the systems alliance to use a number of their troop transport to haul materials needed for reconstruction. This support only grew when they learned that Commander Shepard was recovering and was pushing for the formation of a new Citadel Council which would include the Elcor.
Soon the Elcor gifted a number of their drydock ships to aid in the reconstruction of the Citadel and many of their Legionnaires volunteered to join the newly reformed C-Sec and many others formed a special force to aid reconstruction across the Galaxy, not only to Human Colonies but all to those of all species.
Volus:
Despite their small stature, the Volus stepped up to the plate, even when the Krogan and Turians sent troops to help defend their home-world of Irune. The Volus joined to help fight, mostly in support roles with their soldiers being engineers and other personnel, a number of them did actively fight, such as those who served on the Kwunu dreadnought and the various ships of the Bombing fleet.Even though they were a client race of the Turian Hierarchy, the Volus were given a seat on the new Citadel Council. Where they became the leading power in the new Galactic Economy, however the terms of their position on the Council made it clear they must do so to the betterment of the all council races.
Quarians:
With the reclaiming of their home-world and a peaceful resolution of the war between them and the Geth. The Quarians have begun the previously thought long effort of rebuilding their immune system, however thanks to the Geth, their efforts have been amplified by a factor of 50, what would have taken years was in fact a matter of months.
The Geth even aided the Quarians with the construction of proper settlements and later cities, they aided the establishment of farming and resource procurement. As well as the revelation of the full history of the Morning war and how it effected the Geth.
The Quarians in turn aided the Geth with understanding their new individuality.
Later the Quarians were granted a seat on the Citadel Council as a way of thanking them for the Migrant fleets support in the Reaper War. Although the Geth were not granted a seat they were allowed to a have an individual become a second Councillor with equal positioning to the Quarian Councillor.
Former Admiral Shala'Raan was chosen as the representative for the Quarian People and has spoken favourably for both her people and the Geth. Back on Rannoch the Quarian Admiralty was stood down with the repealing of Martial Law, the New Civilian Conclave became the main governing body for the Quarin People.
The Migrant fleet was reorganised from its former structure, the Heavy Fleet was slowly pulled back in its strength and would become the Home fleet serving to protect the Quarians and Geth on Rannoch or the Colonies. The Patrol would continue its service in constant protection and observation, however for the first few years they served more in aiding the search for surviving Cerberus cells loyal to the Illusive mans ideology.
Hanar:
Despite everything, the Hanar home-world was damaged severely despite the fact that Commander Shepard had prevented an indoctrinated Hanar from disabling their automated defence network.
Their support came most notably with their small fleet and the specialised Drell forces, their losses were heavy but not devastating. Out of respect the Hanar willingly joined the Citadel Council and began open cooperation with the other species.
They even recognised the sacrifices of the Drell during the war and began efforts to find a more habitable planet for the Drell to live on where the environment was more suited for their species. And with the support of the Salarians, they began to put much effort into research for medicinal aid for those Drell who suffered with Keprals Syndrome, as well as searching for a possible Cure.
Eclipse:
Following the battle of the Galaxy, the Eclipse Mercenary corporation was reformed after suffering severe losses. Yet it was easy for them to find new contracts and jobs to fill their pockets during the reconstruction.
With the fleets of the Allies recovering from the aftermath of the war, the Eclipse and other mercenaries found it easy to get employment in security and protection. However once things had settled down, many wanted to move back into the actions of smuggling and other illicit activities. However when they tried to do so they were met by Task Force Shepard.
With little option open to them and with Omegas criminal side being squeezed out, the Eclipse were forced to become their name, private military contractors. Now they serve as private security at various corporate buildings and docks across Asari Space.
The Blood Pack:
Following the battle of the Galaxy, the Blood pack found themselves at a loss. After reconstruction efforts and other actions had been taken, the Blood pack found their competitors the Eclipse and Blue Suns being more and more profitable than they were.
Many went back to actions such as piracy, but these were quickly defeated by the combined forces of the new Unified Council. Slavery was no longer profitable as the largest buyer of Slaves the Batarian Hegemony were in the slow process of ending slavery in their region of space.
At the end of it all the Blood pack found themselves being squeezed out of a Galaxy where they just weren't needed any more, eventually the group disbanded.
Omega:
Due to the efforts of Commander Shepard, Aria T'loak, Nyreen Kandros and their combined forces, Cerberus was successfully driven off Omega. Many had expected the station to revert back to the way it had once been, but the Talons wished to honour their fallen leader Nyreen and ensured that the gangs of Omega would not hold power ever again.
Many people on Omega backed them, since the Gangs did nothing whilst Cerberus was in control but the Talons protected them. Add on the fact that the Blue Suns and the Eclipse were becoming more of private security than criminal enterprises and the rapid decline of the Blood Pack there was no real organisation to challenge the progress of Omega.Despite Aria still being in charge, the day to day basis of the station went to a council of elected individuals from the different wards in the station. The Talons became the law enforcement and military protection for the station, soon Omega became the regional capital for the Terminus systems, becoming the bench point for all trade across that region of space.
Batarians:
Despite taking the brunt of the Reaper Invasion and extreme Casualties both military and civilians. Alongside many thinking that the Batarians would not be able to come back from such devastating losses.
The Batarians worked hard to rebuild and renew their culture. Although there were many misgivings and mistrust, Shepard supported the proposal for active support for the Hegemony, the Batarian fleet had supported the allies in the battle for Earth and they had sent Batarian special forces to SSV Isaac Newton.
The highest military officer Balak, stood by Shepard in this endeavour and ordered all Batarian ships to allow Allied vessels into Batarian space to aid in reconstruction. Governor Grothan Pazness who was once an avid proponent for opposing the systems alliance was rescued from Reaper space during the war by the Normandy, became the new political leader for the Batarians and decided to bring his people out of their isolationism and accepted the Councils proposition to join the new Citadel.
But his first act with the support of Balak was to clear all charges against Commander Shepard for his actions in the destruction of the Mul Relay and the Bahak system which resulted in the deaths of all Batarian Colonists. His reasonings for such were that it allowed the Galaxy a greater amount of time to prepare for the Reapers and as such all the Colonists who lost their lives were martyrs for the Galaxy.
Soon the Batarians were more open and more willing to work with outsiders and had a mutually beneficial trade agreement with all Council Races. the Slave systems that they had relied on in the past was abolished 2 years after the end of the war and 3 years after that all the slaves under the Hegemony were freed.
As for Balak himself, he would later stand down from the Batarian fleet and sign on with Task Force Shepard, in the hopes he could learn from Shepard and the other races. So that in the future he could teach others what he had learned from them.
Protheans:
Shepard Later Declared to the Galaxy that the Prothean Empire will live once again under the newly titled Protector Javik. However when Javik himself took the mantle for his speech he said "The Commander has stated the empire will live again... but he is wrong... our empire died Fifty thousand years ago... it is time for something new... Today the Prothean Sovereignty is born"
A suitable world was identified for a new homeworld, all Council species gave support in the form of food, building materials and even construction and engineering teams. 4 years after the war ended the new Protheans stepped foot on their new world and greeted the new galaxy. Javik became the defacto leader of his people as he was meant too originally, however he was less autocratic that the previous empire and allowed the people to choose their leadership, but by tradition he remained Protector of the Prothean peoples.
As their numbers grew the Protheans relearned the martial status and formed their own military and eventually their own fleet which would join with the Unified Council Fleet. These Prothean soldiers proved their worth during an engagement with Cerberus forces in the Terminus systems where a platoon of Protheans aided Batarian forces managed to defeat a larger force.
Rachni
Despite a great amount of misgivings over his decision, most notably from the Krogan, Commander Shepard helped to save the last Rachni Queen from the Reapers, in return the queen supported the construction of the Crucible and later sent a small number of ships to support the Attack on Earth, these ships were loaded with hundreds of Rachni Warriors who provided aid to the ground forces.
Due to the fact that the Rachni warriors would have to fight up close and personnel however, they took severe casualties.
But these casualties were recognised by the New Council and through Quantum entanglement Communications, the Rachni were offered a place among the new Council. The Last queen accepted, revealing that she will speak through the Communication technology the Allies had given her species to speak, but she would stay away for safety.
As an act of good faith the Council granted to the Rachni their ancestral home-world of Uttuke, the Rachni queen accepted and returned with her brood. 5 years after the war, the Queen reached out to the Council with a message that would bring hope for those who wanted to see the Rachni live.
A new Queen had been hatched.
The Collectors:
Due to the efforts of Commander Shepard, the Normandy and Task Force Aurora what remained of the Collectors after the destruction of their base by Commander Shepard before the war. Were discovered during the Reaper war and with the use of Leviathan artifacts were either killed or had their connection to the Reapers severed.
During the later stages of the war, these Awakened Collectors became the embodiment of Vengeance for the dead race of Protheans fighting to avenge the destruction of their empire. Despite some mistrust after the defeat of the Reapers, the Collectors were invited to join the new Unified Council as their own race since millennia of genetic rewriting by the reapers meant that they were in essence a separate race from the true Protheans being cloned.
After the establishment of their own colony in the terminus systems, they began the slow process of discovering their own identity which was aided by Shepard. During the war they numbered less than two hundred, but soon the colony was thriving and the collectors appeared to be a growing power in the Terminus. But out of respect they kept their distance from human colonies who treated them with anger and suspicion.
Leviathan:
In the aftermath of the battle of the Galaxy, the Leviathan species disappeared once again.Despite an official diplomatic team being sent to the ocean world of Despoina they found the floating wreckage of the various ships that the Leviathans had disabled. But they found neither any sign of the beings themselves nor the artifacts they used to observe the Galaxy.
To this day there has been no clue as to where the Leviathan went after the defeat of the Reapers, some are concerned that they will return to regain control over the milky way. Others however are more concerned about the various people who have been effected by the Artifacts powers.
