A New World in the Old Lore: Major Nations and The Aqualists

Dweller Underworlds:

Americas:

Vancouver Underworld:
Located in the mountain range of western Canada just across the border with what was the United States, this is one of the most developed of the Dweller Underworlds in North America. They are very secluded but are one of the more  willing Underworlds when it comes to building their greenhouses and farms above the surface, instead of other settlements that build beneath the earth.

Hoover Dam:
A Dweller Nation that has had no need to construct solar panels or wind turbines because they have been able to rebuild the fractured Hoover dam, to produce electrical power and even trade the electricity it produces to the nearby Metallic settlements and farms. In terms of infrastructure they have built themselves into the cliffs just next to the dams itself, instead of being entirely underground their homes, shops and other dwellings are excavated into the cliffs, like the ancients of Mesa Verde.
The Underworld of the Hoover Dam is also a vital trading route between West and East, because nearly all of the bridges and other roads and bridges across the Colorado river were destroyed in the Event or fell apart in the aftermath.

Roanoke Underworld:
The only real Dweller nation in the eastern united states, is one that is very big on outside trade with the Metallic neighbours of the Virginian Commonwealth and the Florida Federation.
Their entire underworld is built in the hills and valleys around the town of Roanoke Virginia, however they extend into the more minor dwellings and underworlds that dot all along the Appalachian mountains that run the length of the eastern United States.

They are constantly held on the front line of all western excursion attempted by the Reavers of the Plains Nations, which is one reason they have built such strong defences at all of the entrances to their Underworld. As well as being the only Dweller nation to have a permanent standing army at all times, so then they are prepared for any attempt of war on their people.

Rio Underworld:
Built in the hills that held the ruins of the Favelas which once surrounded Rio De Janeiro, here they are plentiful with copper and other minerals that they salvaged from the city ruins. However they only do this to a certain point, due to the Metallic settlement now building itself within the old city.

Andes Underworld:
The Largest Dweller construction in the Americas, they have built themselves within the mountain range of the Andes, and has managed to build itself up to the point of a being a nation in its own right. For the most part however they have little reason to trade with the outside world as most of the Metallic settlements are found in other areas of the continent. But they do have a close relationship with the Dwellers of Rio, to the point of sending Hammers (Militia) to support them in a war.


Europe:

Alpine Underworld:
Built into the mountains of the Alpes in Switzerland, they are the most expansive of the Dweller Nations, with communities built into the different mountains connected by underground tunnels that zig zag the mountain range. 
More often than not Metallic communities on the Italian peninsular have to trade with the Alpes in order to move through through the mountains.

Pyrenees Underworld:
A underworld Colony from the Alpine, these Dwellers here have managed to build themselves up from simple tunnels and caverns. They have managed to build up into a city in their own right, one that holds a very close alliance with their brethren in the Alpine mountains.


Asia:

Mumbai:
Delved into the hills around the Indian city of Mumbai, they are one of the most trading of the Dweller Underworlds. Due to them being close to the Indian ocean they are more open to trading with the outside world, whether it is Atlantean Whale ships or Metallic Trampsteamers.


Metallic Cities:

America:

Confederacy of California:
A collection of Metallic cities and settlements that have firm control of the pacific coastline, from their southern most city of San Diego to the northern most settlement of Portland in what was Oregon. Unlike other more minor Metallic nations in the western U.S they have begun to really rebuild an element of organised civilisation on the surface world. But they are still some ways off because although they are a Confederation by name, they are not in unity, they share laws, trade agreements and share a centralised Militia, but only in a time of war. But they do not truly have a central government, their "Confederation" only convenes when there is something that effects all of the cities and settlements within their borders needs to be discussed.

With their Militia however, they are always focused on two distinct fronts, the coastline to guard the vital fishing and trading ports. And most especially the Key fortifications they have built within the sierra Nevada mountains that stand watch over the routes and paths across the mountains, routes that the Plains Nations use to raid the settlements and cities of California.

In fact it was the threat of the Plains Nations expansion into California that lead the Metallic settlements to band together and found the Confederacy in the hopes that by combining their militias they might stand a chance should another Great Reav occur and the tribes of the Plains should decide that they want to add the farms and coastlines of the west to their territories.

The Plains Nations:

Although not a single nation, the Plains Nations is a name given to the constantly warring tribes that inhabit the former states of Kansas, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Idaho, North and South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Iowa, Oklahoma, Missouri and Nebraska. When not constantly attacking each other, they are looked as raiders, marauders and vagabonds by the more civilised nations that are found along the coasts, as the Plains Nation tribes actively attack their larger neighbours for spoils they cannot acquire or build alone.

To the outside world there are three times that the Plains Nations are involved in the world, the first is known as the silence. When the Reavers are never seen beyond their borders, the reason is due to the tribes becoming embroiled with an internal war for the plains. The second is called the raid, when the there are scattered reports of Reavers and raiders attacking beyond the borders of the Plains, the reason once again that there is war on the plains but not bad enough that the tribes have to focus everything they have to bear.

The third and truly most terrifying is called the Great Reav, this has only happened a few times in the history of the Plains Nations, each time has ended with the expansion in the borders of the Plains Nations. Previously the Plains Nations barely held onto Utah, Colorado and Wyoming, but with each Great Reav the tribes have expanded their power. But what is the Great Reav? well to put it simply it is when the Plains Nations are united by a shaky alliance under a convincing and influential individual whom they dub as the Great Reavers, when all the tribes are together they attack their neighbours and take the land and settlements as their own. Each time a Great Reav begins is always terrifying as it is always by surprise, because it starts with complete silence coming from the tribes, giving the illusion of a war once more tearing through the plains.

At the moment there have been 3 Great Reavs, the last of which pushed the tribes as far as the town of Jackson in Mississippi. Before a combined force of Floridans, Louisianans and Roanoke Dwellers managed to push them back west. To this day though all nations have been preparing fortifications along their borders with the Plains Nations, in preparation for the next Great Reav.

They are also have a deep involvement in the drug trade, some would say that they grow more opium than wheat and corn. Yet nearly all of the drugs in the Americas come from the Plains Nations, most of which is sold in the expansive black market focused in Vega, formerly the sin city of Las Vegas.

State of Texas:

Formed from the many ranches, towns and cities that dot the wilderness of Texas and New Mexico, the State of Texas controls everything from Houston, Dallas and Austin in Texas to El Paso and Santa Fe in New Mexico. Although officially they are State they have no real central government, one can more relate them as a Alliance of different Ranches and settlements although they do bear a senate of sorts which meets only in times of real crisis in what many call the Texan capital of Fort Worth.
They have organised themselves in a desperate attempt mainly to defend their homes from all forms of attack by Plains Nation Reavers which often come south to raid the prosperous farms and cattle ranches, yet they also somewhat fear the expanding borders of their neighbours.

Most notably the Confederacy of California, which has been often considered expansion into Arizona where there are Ranches under the protection of the Rangers as well as Texas' close defensive alliance with the Dweller Underworld of Hoover Dam. This tension is still ever present as the two have been attacked continuously by the Aqualists, attacks that have only increased as the years have gone by. Which has convinced the Atlanteans that Aqualists have their base somewhere in the plains of central north america.

To this end they have one of the most well patrolled borders in the Americas, with the Texan Rangers on horse back constantly patrolling the territories as well as manning the old defensive forts that dot the wilderness. Some call Texas to be the safest of the Metallic nations in the plains.

Louisiana Coalition:
A collective of the several Metallic farms, fisheries and settlements that surround the abandoned cities from Beaumont Texas in the west and Penscola in the east, from Jackson in the North to New Orleans in the south. Now being a Coalition they are no true one nation, instead they share a formal alliance that orders them all to stand together in a time of war, (which is common for them with the Plains nations to the north) and prevent conflicts between each other.

They tend very much to keep to themselves as most of their priority is focused on their small farms and fisheries and bracing themselves for the odd hurricane that pushes from the oceans. Some even say that their greatest defence is the Bayou that surrounds their heartland, in times of war the more open spaces of their land are abandoned as the Louisianians retreat into the swamps and streams of the Bayou.

This Tactic has served them well when fighting the Plains Nations, as by retreating into the Bayou they are more able to use guerrilla warfare to combat the tribal Reevers, weakening them to the point that they turn around and return to the open plains before ever finding the Coalition. These tactics are so effective in fact that the Louisiana Coalition is in fact the only nation that does not have to continuously fight the Plains Nations, all because the tribes would rather raid easier targets.

Florida Federation:
One of the few true governments in North America, from its capital in Jacksonville the Federation controls the entirety of the Florida state and extends northwards into Alabama and Georgia. They are constantly fighting with their Northern Neighbour of the Virginian Commonwealth over complete control of South Carolina and Tennessee. A conflict in which both sides constantly hire mercenaries to boost their own militias, The most recent and current ongoing war is focused around whomever controls South Carolina most notably Augusta and Charleston.

At first the war was going well for the Floridans, who managed to take Charleston, but now they are on the back foot and are being pushed back into Georgia, to the point where Savannah has been ordered to prepare for a siege.

At home the Florida Federation thrives with trade between themselves and the Louisiana Coalition as well as the Dwellers of Roanoke Virginia. But more importantly they have a important trade deal with the Atlantean Republic of the Bahamas which holds the Atlantean capital of Atlantis, thus making the deal even more lucrative. They even have been able to construct ships capable of making the treacherous trip across the Atlantic, so trade has even been opened with most of western Europe.

In terms of government they bare three distinct branches that each have hold over the other (Checks and Balances- each branch has power over the other two), there is the Legislative Council centred around 13 members, the number being 13 so then there is always a majority and with specific and very important bills and laws the councillors cannot abstain. An Executive branch, with a president who decides the more important businesses and laws that effect the entire nation which require to be voted on by the Council, and finally a Judiciary that is made up of 5 judges that act as the highest law body in the Federation.

Virginian Commonwealth:
The second most Powerful government in the Americas, only opposed by the Floridans to their south whom they constantly at war with over control of South Carolina and Tennessee states. 
The Commonwealth controls much of the north eastern united states and even a small part of Canada most notably parts of Quebec.  They are very expansive and have continuously extended their borders out to other former states, some go so far as to call them domineering, as in some cases they don't give settlements a choice whether to join or not. Yet this argument is overcome with either join the commonwealth and get the help of its militia or fight the plains nations alone.

From their capital of Richmond they control Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, parts of New York state and the City of Toronto in Canada. As previously stated, the Virginians and Floridans are constantly battling over control over South Carolina, at the moment the Virginians are on the offensive after a counter offensive they retook Charleston and are now pushing into Georgia with the intent of taking Savannah.

However this isn't the only war they are fighting, they also embroiled in a battle for their control of Toronto, with a small band of Canadians fighting a guerrilla war around the ruined city. Many in the Commonwealth suspect that its the Floridans that have been providing the Toronton rebels with weapons and equipment, yet this hasn't been confirmed and is quite possibly a ploy to give another reason to go to war with Florida. 

Economically they are primarily a agriculturally system who primarily grow potatoes and maize/corn, thus making them the biggest exporter of chips/fries and pop corn. In terms of Government the Commonwealth is focused around two systems only, most specifically legislative and executive. They have a chancellor and Legislative council, however the council has limited power in certain times such as war.


Europe:

British Commonwealth:
Of course located in the city of London England they hold control over the few Metallic towns in British Isles, they act very much as a bridge between the rest of Europe and trade with the North America, being an island they are a major player in the ocean highways, using old trampsteamers with electrical power from solar panels on-board instead of coal for fuel they are constantly using their trading fleet for hire to other nations in Europe and America.

However they have had there power depleted severely due to three distinct insurgencies upon their island, one of them being in the Welsh hills, another in the highlands of Scotland and the third being closer to home within the extensive forest that divides the nation in two, known as Sherwood where a man by the name of Robin has begun a rebellion against the corruption of the British government.


Marseilles Marquis:
A french republic that holds control over the southern regions of France from Nice to La Rochelle and Geneva. They are one of two nations vying for control of what was France, the other being to the north.
The Marseilles Marquis initially was made up of several city based Tribes that were scattered across the country fighting the more domineering power to the north with guerrilla style tactics. But one by one they formed the Marquis and chose Marseilles and its trading port as its capital, soon there was so many settlements in the Marquis they had a standing army of their own and no longer needed to use insurrection tactics. For the most part the internally the Marquis is quite peaceful and fair but there are times when the Marquis have to declare a system of Martial law when they are forced into a conflict.

La Parisienne:
The second nation in the Former French nation, with a collective council as its system of governance, La Parisienne controls much of the northern part France as well as the entirety of Belgium. However this Collective council is not one that is properly elected like those of the Marquis, instead the council is more hereditary and is almost always passed down to the previous seat holders heir.

Like their neighbour to the south they are rather peaceful and are constantly trading their simple but tasteful wines and other forms of alcohol. As previously stated they are constantly warring with the Marquis to the south over control of France, but mostly over control of the major trading ports in Brittanny.

Ruska Confederacy:
A scattered confederacy made up of the varying settlements across Russia, most of which are found in the wilderness and the few that hold control over the ruined cities of Moscow and St Petersburg. They tend to keep very much to themselves and very rarely involve themselves with the rest of the world.


Atlanteans:

Bahamas Republic:
The greatest of the Atlantean Republics, which holds the largest and most significant of the underwater cities, the very city of Atlantis, which holds the Protectorate Council and the Central Command of the Atlantean Marines and Navies. The Most advanced of all the post "Event" military forces, the navy uses large shark destroyers and Whale ships as transports, with smaller stingrays as fighter craft (All of them actually being more like submarines). They are all equipped with high powered torpedoes and high calibre harpernax weaponry.

The Bahamas also is the headquarters of the Knights of Poseidous, a elite order of Knights who are trained from a very young age. Some on the surface call them child snatchers, however the children they recruit are orphans who have every choice, if at any time they wish to leave the order they are fully capable of doing so. The Knights of Poseidous are sworn to protect the Atlantean peoples no matter where they are from, as well as to ensure the unity of the republics is both kept intact but also peaceful. The Order was almost decimated when Djeck Vanall and the Aqualists attempted a coup, so brutal was Djeck that even the young children apprentices were murdered in the Temple.

Built around the islands of the Bahamas in the crystal clear waters that surround them. The very heart of the Atlantean culture is still in their classic reinforced domes that either sit on the rocks and sand bars or stand on stilts to be close to the surface. Being so close to the Metallic nations of eastern America as well as the minor island bound towns in the Caribbean, they are big time traders in oceanic foods which are consider to be exotic on the surface.

Barrier Reef Republic:
Located in the waters of the Great Barrier reef next to Australia, both a producer of important medicines and foods for the other Republics they are also a favoured holiday destination, with many resorts built along the reefs.

The Barrier reef is home to the largest and most extensively built Atlantean fisheries, which breed, house and feed, entire swarms of fish from sardines to tuna. The barrier reef being chosen due to the reef being a natural fortress for such an important food provider for the Republics, it is also for this reason that the reef is used as a research lab for the production of medicines and anti toxins that are collected from the Oceans many forms of dangers whether it be sting ray barbs or even poisonous fish. In recent years however the labs have been focusing their research on the continued mutation and evolution of the Atlantean peoples, some are even going so far that the Atlanteans are becoming more tied to the ocean.


Hawaiian Republic:
Built around the Islands of Hawaii this collection of settlements holds the majority of the Altantean Pacific fleet, which often transports good across the Pacific for a the right price. These ships are often looked at as the best way for both people and goods across the oceans, not because of their size but for their speed. Whats best having a great amount taken across slowly and degraded, or a smaller amount being taken at a quicker pace. 

North Sea Republic:
The only republic that is further North than any of the other republics, the North sea has a focus of the continuous production of fish. Which they both hatch and raise in immense fisheries, these fish are the biggest income for the Atlanteans because they are the best when it comes to understanding the oceans and what lives within them.

The North sea has been placed into lock down and blockaded by an entire Fleet from the Republics naval forces, this is due to a possible sighting of Djeck Vanal, a radical extremist that the they had been hunting for years.

With mixed success.

Antarctica Republic:
Although barely a Republic, the only real significance other than the small antarctic fisheries. The only thing of real value here is what is only known as Frozen Hell Prison. Which serves as the high security facility for the Atlantean peoples, situated in the coldest part of the continent, its exact location is held as a complete secret and only those who have proper clearance are allowed to know the way.

It was once said by a former Commanding Warden that even if a prisoner escapes the prison itself, then Antarctica will finish him off. Most notably now though the prison holds more Aqualists than actual criminals. However the Prisons reputation as a impenertable and inescapable fortress has been erased after somehow the Aqualist leader Djeck Vanal lead an attack and broke many Aqualist members out of the prison. And there are even rumours that the reputation had been tarnished before that, when allegedly a prisoner had managed to escape the prison and was never found living or dead on the snow fields of Antartica.


The Aqualists:
A Renegade collection of soldiers and outcasts who united under Djeck Vanall and another currently unknown founder. The Aqualists (Aquatic Supremacists) or the KNIGHTS OF VANALL to themselves are a Separatist movement whose main aim is too ensure the supremacy of the Atlantean Republics on the planet, they believe that because the Atlanteans were the first to rebuild civilisation that it is there duty to bring true civilisation to the surface world by force if necessary.

The Movement at first began peacefully as a political faction that sought to instil greater amount of trade and involvement with the Dweller Underworlds and Metallic nations. However for some unknown reason they soon became a paramilitary force which attempted a coup, that in turn focused on the Capital city of Atlantis. As over 2,000 Aqualist separatist troops all of them incredibly well trained, took control of much of the city and even took the Protectorate Palace, they even launched a raid on the Temple of Poseidon home of the Knights of Poseidous, slaughtering everyone inside. The Protectorate fearing an ocean wide civil war, ordered immediately that the entire Atlantean Navy and Marines come and retake the city and bring the ring leaders to justice.

Djeck Vanall and many Aqualists escaped but many were captured and imprisoned in the Frozen Hells prison. In the aftermath of the attempted coup, Djeck Vanall began a reign of terror across the world a year after their escape, and not just on the Atlanteans, they also attacked the Metallic Nations and Dweller Underworlds via insurgent like raids and destructive bombings. This has been going on for a period of 4 years. 5 years since the Aqualists failure during the Coup, Djeck Vanall now stands as the most wanted man on the planet, despite his infamy there are only a few scattered sightings of the man himself, yet you only have to look at the papers to see his actions.

At the moment of time no one has any idea what Djeck Vanall currently looks like, although there are images of him in the Atlantean Navy, 5 years changes a man. There is also the matter that Djeck Vanall may have changed his appearance slightly so that he could walk freely, the only thing that truly Identifies him is a scar. When he was younger whilst swimming Djeck's left eye was blinded when a sting ray barb slashed it, permanently scarring him. Vanall isn't even his own name, it is a name that he gave himself, Djeck was an orphan, he never had a proper last name, so when he and the unknown founder, created the Knights of Vanall, he took it as a badge of honour.

As for the unknown accomplice, there is no information, some say the co-founder was killed during the Coup, others say he was captured and sent to the Frozen Hells prison. Some even say that it was him who supposedly escape alone from the prison, the infamous escape that was covered up by the Republics.
