A guide to The Dragon rebellion
Encyclopedia of Anglova:
Continents:
Technically there are three continents, Vakor (Vak Ore) in the west and Enker (En Kear) in the east, of the three they are the only continents capable of permanently bearing life. As the third continent Sultra, is found to the south of both and is a land of hostility. Although originally the birthplace of mankind the continent is constantly held within a vicious cycle, where the earth pushes and pulls the continent to the surface of the ocean and then releasing it allowing it to sink. thus denying any chance of settling.
But in the east and west there are no such dangers, from the ocean, yet the two lands are very different indeed.
Notice when we say Continents we do not mean large expansive land masses we mean a collection of reasonably sized landscapes of varying environments.
Races of Vakor:
The Dwarves: Native
Banner: An iron hammer
The lords within the mountains, the Dwarves are the most technologically advanced race in the known world, with machines of war and economy, Ships built of strong metals and weapons that shoot fire. The Dwarves are builders and rulers of Deep underground cities or Halls in the Dwarven language that are built within the mountains they mine, with defenses that none have ever breached, many say to enter their cities you must be let in.
In war they wield many forms of weapons and machines, yet like others they have more common tactics like cavalry, which in the case of the dwarves are Ramacks, large Ram like creatures, the size of a small horse which they train to charge head on at the enemy with their large horns ramming straight into the enemy ranks.
As well as technology they are masters of Economic growth and structure, the Dwarven Kingdoms bear the Great Stone Bank, that nearly everyone goes too for a loan, even kings and queens. Yet for the most part the Dwarves prefer to live the life of peace, mining for the mineral known as Goldart, (a type of fungus that has the same density as gold, which constantly grows, meaning it can be mined for all eternity).
In terms of government, the Dwarves have a collection of kings, each ruling a city. The many rulers come together in the largest of the cities, known as Kol vak, which holds the hall of Crowns which is similar to a council. The most powerful of the rulers or High king sits at its head, with the purpose of maintaining the peace between the ruling families and being the final say in any major decisions.
The Elves: Native
Banner: A Thorned Rose
Originally the dominate race in the west, the elves once had their own kings, cities across the lands, all of which knew nothing but peace. they are also the closest race to nature in the west, worshiping the nameless spirits of the land, sea and stars. Yet after mankind invaded and took control, the elves have become somewhat second class citizens in their land.
Yet their skill as Archers, Scouts and Guerilla tactics, make them prized during times of war. it can be said that when at peace the elves are looked down on, but when in war they are treated as equals. Like each of the races in the west they have a favorite when it comes to mounts, the Humans ride Horses, the Dwarves ride Ramaks, the Elves ride large deer like Elkon and Moosran in ancient Elvish, in war they much prefer the stags with their large antlers as they are taught to strike the enemy with their antlers.
They are the most herbivorous of all races, only eating plants, fruits and crops yet they are willing to eat fried eggs.
The Elves have since suffered under mankind, many are treated as second class citizens, certain merchants will not trade, Innkeepers would not give them beds, Lords would have them pay extreme rates for taxation and rent. While many have prefer to keep their heads down and take the abuse, some Lead by an Elven warrior called Resurge Vesh have taken to fighting a guerilla war, taking from the lords and merchants to give to those who are in need.
The most brutal atrocity the Elves have suffered has become known as the Blood Forest, where hundreds, if not thousands of innocent Elven families were butchered by the Royal army, because the Queen mother wanted the land to build a summer holiday home.
The Orcs and Goblins: Native
Banner: A skull
Unlike all of the races in the west and even the east, the Orcs and Goblin Clans do not have a clearly defined territory, instead they dwell within small fortified villages, where they grow crops, raise cattle and even mine for minerals. The two races bear a close relationship, even though they are very different, the Orcs are tall and very strong, the perfect fighters, whereas the Goblins are much smaller, unable to truly walk upright, they must hunch over and shuffle when walking on two feet. if a Goblin was to stand by a human hunched over the goblin would only come to a mans hip.
Yet like the elves when in war they are both greatly desired, Goblins are famed throughout the world for their expertise in smithing even the tiniest amount of Ore into the strongest and lightest armors. And the Orcs are infamous for brutality and savagery in battle, it was once recorded that a besieging army did not require a battering ram, as an Orc Beserker punched a hole through the castles main gate with his bare hands and opened the gate for the army. Despite being willing to ride horses and other mounts, they do not have an interest in Cavalry, believing that a true warrior can fight alone as well as with others.
Plus in their Clan based culture they have no real need of Mounts, as the time needed to raise and train such a mount would take time, time which could be used in building a home, caring for the crops or raising cattle that have multiple uses such as Cows.
This form of time wastage even comes into their form of law, the Clans have no prisons or forms of incarceration as they believe a prisoner would be a strain on their resources, why keep an orc locked up when he could tilling the fields earning the food he eats. Instead they have the blood price, where the Orc or goblin in question must pay for the crime in blood, either by working to the point he bleeds or in some cases having to be beaten by a group of fighters until the Blood price is given, aka he bleeds so much that the clan believes he has payed the price.
since the Rise of the queen mother and the new king, the orcs have suffered just as much, as many of their clans have been forced away from their ancestral strongholds, so the king could have the mines that the Orcs depend on for their trade work. Trade they require to buy food and supplies for their families, this injustice has convinced many clans to consider open rebellion.
Humans: Hailing from Sultra
Banner: Multiple
Now the Most dominate of the western races, humanity conquered the west millennia ago when Sultra was destroyed in an disaster. Yet before 400 years ago, there were 9 Human controlled kingdoms in the west.
Now though all 9 are part of the United Kingdom after the Unification war lead by Anor Draco I. Now the United Kingdom stands strong, not knowing all out war, despite several small scale wars between the lesser lords over territory there have been no real conflicts. In modern terms however many Humans despite not originally hailing from Vakor have begun to see themselves as racially stronger than any of the other races in the west and look down on the others as partially animals.
Races of Enker:
Humans: Hail from Sultra
Banner: Multiple
Unlike in the west which is unified the eastern cities of Man have been divided since their foundation. instead of kingdoms however their are multiple city states, each state uses a system of government where the most powerful families of that state have representatives in politics due to each family holding a specific profession under there control, for example one family would own the banks, another the docks and so on.
Despite multiple conflicts between the different states, all honor a pact that should one of the cities states go to war with the western kingdoms, then all conflicts cease and the city states stand together against the west.
One thing that is common within all city states is that they are all found on the western side of the continent as to the east away from the coast is controlled by the native races of Enker.
The Half Breeds: Native
Race types: Multiple
Banners: Multiple
Although technically not a single race, they prefer to look at themselves as the same spiritually. the five races that make up the half breeds, live semi nomadic lives, constantly moving from one place to another as to not use all sources of food within the land. Yet they do have one city. Although most of the buildings are mostly mud brick and simple thatch houses, it is a city, with markets and even a government at its Heart. All are welcome to the city to trade, but should you do go, there are rules, no blood is to be shed whilst in the city, and above all do not bother to use gold, the half breeds only trade in things that they would require, weapons, tools etc.
The Minotaur's: Native
Banner: A Bulls skull
Half man and half bull, the Minotaur's are the toughest of the half breeds, hailing from the northern hills. which they defend to the death, from any outsiders. bearing the head and legs of a great bull, but the muscular upper body of Man. the Minotaur's are a force to be reckoned with.
Many in the Human city states, call them monstrous beasts that would kill anything, yet that is strictly not true, Although the Minotaur's may seem like monsters, they are only generally violent when outsiders have settled within their territory, should the settlement be temporary, for one night for example, they would not attack, but ensure that you move on by the following day. But if the settlement is permanent then they will attack.
The reason is their life style, like all half breeds the Minotaur's are semi nomadic, they move from place to place never using too much of the local resources. And they will defend their resources to the death, Minotaur's may be willing to trade with outsiders, but they don't like to share or have something taken.
When not raiding or killing Minotaur's are said to have some form of compassion, they care deeply for their young, old, sick and injured. it was once said that the Herd Master (Chief of a clan) actually gave up his own tent for the women and children to sleep in during a storm.
Centaurs:
Banner: Great white stallion
With the upper body of a normal human, but the rest of them being the body of a horse with four legs. the Centaur herds are masters of the great plains. They roam from one place to another, raising cattle, horses and other animals for food, whilst also gathering local herbs and plants as food.
They are somewhat the most peaceful of the half-breeds as they generally prefer to roam the wilds and watch the stars at night. yet that does not mean them pacifistic, just like with all of the half breeds, the Centaurs will defend their land from human expansion. using extremely long bows at full gallop, brandishing long swords, they use hit and run attacks on those who settle their land. Not wanting to kill them all, but merely to drive them away from their plains.
One man claimed to have seen 20 of the best trained cavalrymen be wiped out by a small band of no more than 5 Centaur warriors.
Fauns and Satyrs:
Banner: A wooden dual flute
although technically the same they are different, the fauns are the most human of the two, with only the legs of a goat, but the rest of their body being human. But the Satyrs are more goatlike, with the legs and head of a goat, but a hair covered human upper body.
They live within the forests and jungles found in the south of the continent, where they wield sword curved scimitars, as weapons and tools, to cut away any plants blocking their path. Like the other two, they have no real quarrel trading with other outlandish races but do not like the way that man cuts down their ancestral home of the forest. On one occasions several wood cutters were killed, beheaded and their bodies hung up on display on the borders of the forest for accidentally cutting down a sacred tree. In peace the two move through the forest collecting fruits and raising their herds of goats for milk and meat.
Fauns and Satyrs are also famed for their celebrations, when man first entered their forests, the music of flutes would echo through the trees, many thought them to be ghosts. Yet the music is that of festivity, Fauns and satyrs play music and dance around great fires when life is plentiful. Strangely Fauns and Satyrs are the only race whom actually have a funeral pyre system, should one of their warriors die, then his body and his weapons shall be burned, and the ashes spread across the forest.
Oceanic races:
The Mer:
Banner: None
Also known as the Merpeople, they are a race of being with the blueish coloured hairless upper body of a human but with a long dolphin like tail they use for swimming. Their bodies mean that they are permanently glued to the sea, where they use not metal but bone for weapons. Using spears with Stingray tails or sharks teeth for the tip and carved bones for the shaft.
Once found in all of the oceans, competition with Man in the western oceans have meant that the Mer that were once found all along the coast of Vakor. Now all live within the more secluded coves and open oceans of Enker where they joined with the other members of their race. Often said to be very contradictory, they will kill anyone fishing in their waters. But are said to help shipwrecked sailors and people that they find drifting at sea.
None know where the Mer originally came from or whether or not they have an ancestral homeland, all that is known is that they are very secretive of their histories.
Believe to extinct:
Giants:
In the west the ancient race of Giants has long believed to be extinct, despite rumors of them surviving in the lands beyond the north. these massive being were believed capable of using entire trees as clubs. And use their immense strength to kill hundreds of men in a fight.
For the most part many experts agree that the Giants became extinct because of a conflict with mankind over their freedom to move from place to place, living in their nomadic existence.
Yet despite vanishing six hundred years ago, there are still believers that think Giants still live freely in the land beyond the north.
Griffins:
Once found throughout the western world, the griffins were hailed as the greatest war mounts, with the front of their bodies being that of an eagle and the back being of a lion, with great wings able to lift both their bodies and that of a human. However centuries of selective breeding by many ruling houses trying to breed war mounts, lead to the Species slowly becoming more prone to disease. Until finally the species was confirmed extinct a thousand years ago.
However there are a few who claim to see Griffins flying over head in the far reaches of the north, yet many do not believe such. Mostly due to Griffins preferring to live in the more temperate regions to the south, where it was warmer and easier to raise their chicks.
Creatures:
Dragons:
Although very rarely seen south of the Kingdom of the North, Dragons are very numerous in the lands beyond the north. These extremely large fire breathing reptiles, bear four legs (two front and two back) and two supremely large wings, it was once said that a hundred men could all fit under a single wing of a fully grown dragon.
For the most part the dragons prefer to live away from other beings, staying in their secluded caves and dens, where they can live peacefully. In hard times Dragons go into a deep state of hibernation. And a word of caution should be made to never awaken a dragon that is in Hibernation, more have died from waking a dragon than from meeting a dragon.
There are ancient tales of people being able to ride dragons, and even tame them. yet this had never been proven, yet elven priest say that Dragons have a very strong loyal bond, once an individual has earnt the loyalty of one of these creatures, the Dragon will obey them to the their death. Yet they warn that such loyalty is very, very, very hard to earn.
The bond of loyalty is one of very powerful magic, as many say that dragons are the living embodiment of magic, this is due to them being classed as creatures of wonder. The bond permits the one the dragon has bonded to not just ride, but also use magic powers never seen before. Stories even tell of the Dragons rider, earning the eyes of a Dragon, in other words the persons eyes would become like those of a snake.
At one point there was even a religious cult that worshiped the Dragons as gods, however during the age of the Inquisition, The cult was systematically wiped out, Leaving only their immense fortress temples in ruins.
Legends:
Wood elves:
Considered nothing more than stories by most of the world, the ancient races of the west believed them to be true beings, slightly taller than the dwarves, but shorter than Elves and orcs. As the tales go, the Wood Elves inhabited the darkest depths of the great forests, they claim them to be the most advanced in the ways of magic, yet were the least in technology, using weapons forged from flint and stone.
Yet according to the True elves, they blessed the flint with magic allowing it to be stronger than steel. They also claim that the wood elves were the most territorial of all the western races, protecting their forest villages from anything and everything that entered their forest homes. The ancient races believe the Wood Elves to have been wiped out when mankind arrived and conquered the west, whilst man believes them to have been nothing more than a story fabricated from the western races believing bandits to be an ancient people.
Yet some scholars believe the wood elves to have been a real people, after archeological finds, including bows of the strongest woods, arrows and spears with obsidian or flint made points have been uncovered all across the Inner forests of Vakor. Some Elven mystics believe the Wood elves to still exist in hiding, remaining in the darkest parts of the Forests, in their own words "Being as Ghosts".
This also comes into collision with stories told in the Bayou, where fishermen and hunters claim to see small people running through the swamps, there are even stories of people apparently vanishing in the deepest parts of the swamps.
Kingdoms in the west:
1: Kingdom of The Eastern Shore
Ruling House: Draco
Banner: Dual swords behind a Iron Shield
Although technically the smallest of the Nine kingdoms, it is now the centre of the United Kingdoms. Holding one of the largest cities in the western world, known to most as the Capital City or just the Capital, with the number of people living within its walls numbering in the high thousands, with one of the largest markets on the continent, shops selling all forms of produce and leisure.
Ruled by the Draco family for thirty Generations, it was one of their family Anor Draco, that brought all nine of the kingdoms together during the war of Unification, he brought the other kingdoms under his rule, through diplomacy and war. It took them almost 3 years for all nine to become one. Yet Anor was respectful and allowed the original ruling families to become High lords, where they would rule the individual kingdoms in the High Kings Name.
He eventually brought the nine ruling families together, in order for them to pool their resources in creating the capital city. A city so large, that many claim that the original maps of the city are useless.
However after the death of the last Draco king, whom had no legitimate Heirs, Rule of the nine kingdoms has been given to William of House Griffin of the Sparrow mountains, as his mother the Queen under the late king, laid claim to the throne for her children. Which most were willing to accept, as after all there was no rightful heir to the throne or any who had a legitimate claim to the throne.
2: The Kingdom of the Western Waste
Ruling House: Viper
Banner: Black Cobra
A land of almost inhospitable deserts, nearly all of the settlements, cities and fortresses are all found near sustainable sources of water. This tough desert environment has made the people here especially tough, able to last much longer than any of the other kingdoms for living without water. Famed for its exotic fruits and foods, as well as the most fruitful wines which are favored by nearly all of the noble houses throughout the western kingdoms.
At the same time though the sands have produced some of the most tactically minded warriors in the west. In previous conflicts the method of House Vipers was to use the deserts to defeat their enemies, they would use the Sand Snakes, an elite group of assassins to use assassination and sabotage to eliminate any chance the enemy had to fight effectively. Especially when you include that most of the armies of the west wear strong heavy armor which is extremely uncomfortable in the deserts, something that the Desert people know very well, they prefer to wear simple light weight chain mail and simple helmet and cloth scarves around their head and faces.
The former rulers and current governing lords of the western waste is House Viper, who once ruled as Kings and Queens of the Sands, within the mega-fortress of Sand Stone. The Western Waste was brought into the United Kingdoms through diplomacy, as the Western Waste was fearful that the United Kingdom would limit their trade in wine and fruits, once this fear was overcome House Viper willingly joined the United Kingdom, even providing its army.
In recent years however tension has been growing between the crown and the kingdom of the waste, as taxation on their wines and fruits has risen again and again to pay for the extremely extravagant lifestyle of the Queen mother and her sons.
3. The Kingdom of the Lions Plains
Ruling house: D'Leon
Banner: A red Lion In a field of Golden Wheat
The most Fertile of the nine kingdoms, the Kingdom of the Lions Plains, produces more wheat and cattle per year than all of the other nine kingdoms combined. Most of which they sell to the other kingdoms, meaning that House D'Leon is the most riches of the ruling families. Something that they enjoy to remind others of.
This in turn allows them to amass large armies, because since they are able to grow significant amounts of grain, wheat and other crops and cattle, the largest army that the D'Leons have been able to call upon since records began, was well over 50,000 men at arms and knights. Almost three times the number of the neighbors individual armies.
Much like with the Western Waste the Lions Plains were brought into the United Kingdom by diplomacy, when Anor Draco made an agreement with the D'Leons that allowed them to sell their produce across the other kingdoms, as a free trade system, meaning they could sell their produce in the other kingdoms with only a single taxation to the kingdom in question on everything they sold. Which was more suitable than multiple taxes to the kingdoms they sold too. And so the Kingdom of the Lions Plains joined the United Kingdoms and its army joined that of Anors.
4. Kingdom of the Sparrow Mountains
Ruling House: Griffin
Banner: A Golden Griffin
Located to the north of the Eastern Shore, the Sparrow mountains is not truly a Human controlled kingdom, although the Human made cities are ruled over by the nobility and House Griffin as High Lords. the power of the Sparrow Mountains comes from the Dwarven cities that are found within the mountains.
In the past, they used the tactic of bottle necking to their expertise, preferring to fight in the enclosed valleys and mountain passes that lead into the mountains themselves, where they would use the mountains and hills against their enemies numbers.
trade between the Cities ruled by House Griffin and the Dwarven cities has always been protected, it was actually the trade agreement between the two that lead to House Griffin joining the United Kingdom under Anor Draco without a fight or diplomacy. Also found within the Dwarven Kingdoms here is the Great Stone Bank, that is governed by the Dwarven Kings. And the rule with the Stone Bank is that if you want to Win a war then you need them on your side.
Since Unification however, the relation between the Stone Iron Bank and the current Queen of the United Kingdom, Queen Roselyn of House Griffin. Has been tenuous as the queens extravagant lifestyle, means that she spends most of the money the crown receives from taxes on herself and her sons. This has meant that the Stone Bank, has become more and more concerned, Cautious and even less willing to provide Loans to the Nobles of the United Kingdom.
5. The Kingdom of the Southern Peninsular
Ruling House: Saracen
Banner: A Ysigther
the southern kingdom of the peninsular is the land of the finest War beasts. The peninsular was one of the few kingdoms that Anor Draco had to bring into the United Kingdom by force. He invaded the south with a force of over 20,000 men at arms and 2,000 cavalry, by the time he had secured the Souths allegiance. Their elite "cavalry" had reeked havoc on his army, in fact they almost made it possible for the South to keep its independence. But once peace was restored the elite warriors of the south joined the ever expanding army of Anor Draco.
And with that army came their version of Cavalry, Instead of riding horses into battle the people of the southern peninsular instead use the native Great Ysigthers, large creatures similar to elephants however they are far larger standing well over 20 feet tall at the shoulder. With a large pair of tusks almost as long as their bodies.
The warriors of the southern peninsular use them as war mounts to rain arrows down upon their enemies as the Ysigthers charge through the enemy lines of infantry or cavalry. When not at war these same creatures are used domestically, helping day to day tasks for the people including plowing of fields and carrying of heavy objects.
The Peninsular is famed for its expertise and skill in breeding the livestock as well as their Great Ysigthers. In fact in all wars they have been involved in they always won due to the strength of their cavalry. Even the Motto of House Saracen is linked to their skill with the Ysigthers saying " We Rule the Battlefield".
6. Kingdom of the Storm Coast
Ruling House: Stormer
Banner: A dark cloud with Lightning
One of the smallest kingdoms, the storm coast is sometimes called a state never mind a kingdom. Like with the Peninsular the Storm coast had to be conquered in order for Anor Draco make them join the United Kingdom. The Storm Coast is well known for building the most maneuverable ships, due to the rocky cliffs and constant storms. The Ships they construct are proficient at being able to change direction quickly, or maintaining a certain position in rough seas and winds.
This harsh world of almost constant storms has allowed them to become expert fishermen, farmers of all kinds of crops. But when it comes to military their armies are formidable as they are known to fight even in the toughest of weather, even the armor they wear is forged in a manner to allow the wearer to withstand the wind and rain.
The storm coast is very dangerous, as every city, town and village is found in protected coves, where the constant storms that batter the coast, deal the least damage. it is because of these storms that many call the oceans next to the storm coast the bone yard. Due to the numerous shipwrecks that litter the rocky coastline. Anor Draco conquered the storm coast after the combined fleets of the Lions Plains, Eastern shore and Sparrow Mountains was able to defeat the Storm fleet and later lead a sea born invasion on Storms Cove, the Kingdoms capital.
7: Kingdom of the Bayou
Ruling House: Gator
Banner: A mangrove tree
Also known as the kingdom of the neck by the Dwarves, Orcs, Goblins and Elves, because the Bayou stretches across a thin neck of land that separates the north from the south. These near impassable swamps and jungles are only able to be crossed due to a select few roads that lead through the mangroves.
House Gator, used these routes to their advantage, building fortresses along these routes to defend the all important trade between the north and south. This doesn't mean they are afraid of a fight though, during the pre unification wars, the Bayou staved off each invasion, by using the swamps against their enemies, they used Guerilla warfare to harass the opponents armies, luring deeper into the swamps and bayous, where larger armies found it impossible to maneuver.
The Kingdom of the Bayou bears a very strong relationship and alliance with the north, due to the importance of the Bayou as a vital trade route.
The Bayou was much like the majority of Kingdoms in the west, where they joined Anor Draco and kneeled before him as the high king of the United Kingdoms of the West, after all they may have been able to fight but against the entire south many had doubts for a successful defense, and with them being in a United Kingdom, it would allow far better trade between the many regions including the Bayou.
8: The Kingdom of the Vyke Isles
Ruling House: Vike
Banner: Giant Sea Serpent
Often seen as the most rebellious after unification, the Kingdom of the Vyke Isles has on multiple occasions risen up in rebellion after they were conquered and joined the United Kingdom, it was only after Anor Dracos Grandson Arnor the 2nd, that the rebellions ended with an agreement, that if the Viking end their raiding and pirating then the crown would hire the Viking fleet into the Royal fleet, and as well as this the Vikings would be permitted to hire themselves out as mercenaries in the east.
Unlike the other Kingdoms which could just grow crops effectively, things are not the exact same on the Isles. the constant spraying of salt from the sea means that very little of what the Vikings grow, lives to be harvested. Its predominantly for this reason that they became sea born raiders, taking gold, weapons, minerals and other things that they might require on the Isles.
On the Isles themselves there are no mega fortresses like on the continent, but instead strategically placed forts built high on cliff tops. At sea the Vikings are masters, using a mixture of ship variations, including long-ships and simple galleons for their attacks. And while most would use swords the Vikings prefer to save the iron and just use Axes instead.
9: The Kingdom of the North
Ruling house: Bearin
Banner: A great Black Bear
The last of the nine to join the United Kingdom, like the sparrow mountains the north did so without a fight or diplomacy. the Current King of the North, Marcus Bearin the 4th joined the United Kingdom knowing full well that either way the north will join and he did not want to lose thousands of fighting men knowing that they couldn't defeat the United Armies of Anor Draco.
In the north things are very hard, summers are shorter, and winters are harder, it is also common for their to be snow in the height of the summer months. Yet this environment has made them very tough and strong when it comes to fighting in winter, while the south would wait out the winter before fighting on the north would march straight through the snow to the fight.
The Primary trade in the north is wood, which is done so very effectively, by the Laws in the north, when a tree is chopped down for firewood or to be sold as timber, two tree saplings must be plant in its place, ensuring that their will always be a source of wood for the north to sell to its southern Neighbors.
The Lands beyond the north:
Rulers: None
Banners: None
None of the kingdoms proclaimed Dominion over the far north, mostly because it is where most of the worlds dragons can be found, alongside other monstrous creatures. According to the elves, Orcs, Goblins and Dwarves their combined spiritual beliefs all say that the Monsters in the far north, are guarding an ancient crossroads, between the lands of the living and the dead.
Yet such a thing is complete and utter nonsense.
