James Luck and the Great Galactic War part 2: Civil War

Prologue:
Previously,
The Milky Way Galaxy was driven into a Galactic wide Conflict as an unknown invader attacked, the first major offensive Seized Planet Earth and dozens of other planets across the galaxy.
The Liberators rallied dozens of races in attempt to hold the invaders, they were successful in doing so, and now the war is bound in the trenches across countless worlds. Allied forces are holding the line but barely, yet the Invaders are still pushing and pushing hard, they want more than one third of our Galaxy

At the heart of the Fight is a Soldier within the liberators, his name is James Luck, he was the one who lead fighters in defending several planets, and lead the Federation to Victory.
In one of those battles he was severely injured, and very nearly died, he was altered with cybernetics. His left arm, left leg and left eye are synthetic, he has an Artificial Intelligence implanted into his Mind to assist in any way her name is Kai, running through his blood and the rest of his body are microscopic Machines called Nano mites, which give him extremely better healing capabilities. These cybernetic changes gave James extremely fast reflexes in battle, some would say faster than even the most powerful and smartest Computerized AI.

He deserted the Liberators and returned to the planet of his birth where he lead the resistance forces in freeing the planet from the occupation of the invaders and the Collaborating Coalition
Although he did not wish so he held a secret of his family for he is the son of a Maric King and a Colonial woman, his father sacrificed himself to save his son, Leading James to being crowned the High King of the Mara Peoples.

The Resistance and the Mara peoples liberated Eva’s Paradise, but the Federation was afraid for its power and had James arrested for treason and Desertion, members of the Maric Hellenic Guard (Elite Royal Guard of the Maras) refused to let it happen and the Federal troops committed a Massacre, All present members of the Guard were killed, only a few survive, hiding in the hills and mountains of the Planet
James is now imprisoned awaiting trial and execution, those he fought alongside former Durkish Commando Komodo Gaul, Lionel Kirsch former Felis Honour Guard Captain. And the Maric Woman he loves Crimson have gone into hiding hoping for things to change.

Yet James’ arrest has merely made things worse, not only are the invaders trying to break through, but now people are taking a stand against the Federations abuse of Authority. The galaxy is on the brink of fighting both a Galactic war and a Civil war.

Chapter 1: In the Slammer
The prison was a metal stronghold, everything was reinforced with the strongest metals, James sat alone in the interrogation room, the room was small, there were no windows, only cameras watching his every room, with a door on the left hand side, it too was solid, heavily built. James just sat in the chair, he was chained to, with the bolted down metal table in front of him.
He just sat there, his hair had grown, and it now was frustrating him, his fringe constantly slipped onto his face, forcing him to flick it back. In his Dark Blue Prison clothing, he just sat there, he couldn’t do anything else.
The strong chains that held him in the chair, only allowed him to move his arms onto the table. His legs could do even less, they were completely chained to the chair, he could only move his feet left and right.

Military information:
Age joined: 18
Current rank: Captain
Division: 1st liberator Marines

Personal information:
Born and raised on the colony of Eve’s or Eva’s Paradise. When he was eight years old his family estate was attacked by Maric Raiders, his mother Abigail and many estate workers were killed, James and his elder sister were the only survivors.
Sister still currently lives on the Colony, leading a political peace faction, working to forge a lasting peace treaty with the Maric people, in the aftermath of the Maric wars, where the colony was almost wiped out by the Maric hordes.
Liberator tests:
Weapons test: Passed with full score, currently holds the record.
Medical Eval: Passed with peculiar anomalies within his genome. From looking at his dental structure his incisors and canines seems to be much sharper than ordinary humans. His bone structure is also much denser and stronger than a normal human; this could be from adaptation to the planet where he grew up where life is tougher.
Psychological Eval: refused to speak of his past, his family, or even mother’s death, all point to unresolved childhood trauma.
Update:
Resistance: Lead Resistance forces on home planet and successfully brought Maric and Colonial peoples together after his father died, was later proclaimed to be the new Maric high king. Somehow managed to destroy an entire Invader fleet including several large battleships, which records show are near impervious to our weaponry.

Lead united forces against collaborator government forces, successfully retook the colony and installed new colonial-Maric coalition government, which is now been replaced by Federal colonial affairs.

Medical- appears that the abnormalities previously recorded in his file were due to his hybrid genome, with his father being a Mara and his mother being human.
Current Location: Top secret Federal detention facility.

Suddenly the door flung open, and standing there was an older man in his fifties, wearing the uniform of a Liberator, he had no hair, on his head or his face, His Facial structure was that of Asian Human. James knew who it was, it was Admiral Hirohito, the commander in Chief of all liberator Forces.
In the admiral’s hands was a data pad, but James couldn’t see what was on it, but he could guess. “Don’t expect me to get up and salute you sir” He muttered.

“I am not here for that James” the admiral replied, slowly the admiral made his way to the table, he placed the data pad onto the metal slab that was the table, and took his seat opposite from James.
“Then why are you here?” James asked “Trying to get to confess… like all of those Agents?”
The admiral huffed heavily, showing his frustration, he knew whom he was talking about the agents of the Office of Federal Intelligence. “They don’t want you to confess… you know too much” the Admiral stated

“Oh yeah forgot…. They want to know how I did it” James replied not once looking up at the admiral “How I was able to Destroy an Entire Invader fleet”
The admiral thought he might get some answers, but that was rather too much to hope for.
“I won’t be talking to them… to those who would kill just for expressing their opinions” James Aggressively stated
The Admiral slowly leaned back into his chair and just stared at James “Liberators don’t Murder” he Said proudly

James now returned the gaze, “You let those who do go unpunished”
“OUR JOB IS TO PROTECT NOT PUNISH” The admiral was quick to respond
James just sat there staring, and recited the oath of the Liberators “WE PROTECT THE INNOCENT OF ALL PEOPLES AND PUNISH THOSE WHO DARE TAKE LIBERTY AND FREEDOM FROM THOSE WHO DESERVE IT”
The admiral knew these words and yet, he had forgotten them “Unless you have forgotten we are in the middle of a War”
James didn’t care, he knew that the war was still on, but the people weren’t being cared for “And that’s your excuse for allowing the people, to forget what it is to be free”
The admiral began to lean onto the table, so that he could truly begin to speak about why he came. “I didn’t come here to argue…… we need to talk…. About you”

Hearing this James moved forward as far as he could without feeling the press of the chains, listening to every word the admiral whispered, “I did what you asked and found this” slowly the admiral brought forward his Data pad. “It’s not much, but it should sate your curiosity”
James just stared at the admiral, trying desperately to avoid his stare the admiral kept talking “You were right about that thing you told me about.... another has been found on Juggernaut”
Before he could continue a soldier walked in, heavily built wearing strong dark black armour, his head and face covered by a protective helmet, with a black glass material covering his face. But James definitely knew he was human. The armour was too heavy for a Felis and the soldier had no tail so he wasn’t a Durk.

The admiral got to his feet and walked out, the soldier slowly came over to James, and allowing more soldiers to enter the confined room, once all in they numbered 5 in total, two began to unshackle the heavy chains from the chair, whilst the others prepared their Electro staffs.
(Electro staffs: Built to withstand extreme amounts of energy, like those from plasma blades, electro staffs are the only thing that can resist the immense kind of energy that plasma blades are built of and use to cut through objects think star wars lightsabre.
However they are also used in law enforcement, as they can transfer a strong electrical charge from one the points that are found at either end of the staff.)
The two removing the chains completed the task and slowly pulled the chains up, an indication to James to stand. The Soldiers with staffs began to circle him, as he was slowly lead out of the room. Down the metallic built corridor towards his daytime cell.

This cell was an oddity, empty excluding a set of wires that hang from the ceiling on one side of the room there was a mirror, most likely a two way mirror, beyond it were medical personal which monitored and worked on multiple computer like systems. Inside the cell though there were technicians that handle the wires, slowly the soldiers pushed him in and lined him up with the wires.
The technicians now did their job; they began to insert the wires into different parts of his body. The wires ended with a strong metallic pointed needle that was rather thick for a needle. This didn’t bother James he knew what the needles were for, those that were being implanted into legs, arms, back and neck were to hold him in the air. But the most important one was the largest and thickest wire, which was slowly inserted into the back of his head the last thing to be added was a breather, a mask that covers the face and allows an individual to breath underwater. With this done the soldiers and technicians slowly left the room one by one, James could feel his body getting lighter, he felt as if he was flying, He now realised the wires had retracted and were holding him in the air, with his chest pointed in the direction of the mirror.

Beyond the mirror the medical personal continued their work pressing buttons and working their systems, “Uploading Simulations” one stated. And with that water began to fill the room slowly but surely, as it rose the temperature dropped, James couldn’t move at all, the cold was holding his body in place, it was like they had dropped him into a pool of ice and left him to freeze.
James knew what they were doing he could feel his mind being penetrated, like someone had taken a electro staff, turned its power to full and jammed it into his brain. Slowly his vision darkened and his eyes sealed shut tight as the dreams and simulations came forth into his mind.

This routine would continue day after day. During the long hours of the Day from dawn to Dusk he would hang from the wires finding his way through the many simulations that the Federal doctors and Technicians drove into his brain. During the night he would spend his entire moonlit hours in a small reinforced steel cell, with no windows but only a set of solid and strong bars cutting the room in half. He would sleep, eat and more on one side of the bars, whilst on the other half would stand the solid door leading to the rest of the prison.

But as the days went on the Prison warden was becoming more and more frustrated, every simulation that they attempted James had found his way through it. They had no choice but to use their secret weapon.

Chapter 2: The Division Begins
James once more sat there, in the emptiness of the interrogation room, the metal slab of a table, his arms and legs shackled to the cold metallic chair. Once more he did not care, he had been in worse positions. Hell he had survived a crash with an Invader Dreadnought, heck he had even survived his own blood killing him.
So he just sat there, allowing his mind to wander, but more specifically allowing Kai to continue her hacking of the prisons network and other systems. So that he could continue his secret Escape plan.
The door opens, standing in the opening of the doorway was a woman, wearing strong armour of the Federation Special Forces, Dark black armour covering her body, the plates manoeuvring across her chest and abdomen. On her arms and legs the plates only covered her partially, only her shins and her forearms.
Covering her face was dark black helmet and tactical glass like visor. She walked in slowly, "So you’re the famous James Luck, Hero of the Liberators, High King of the Maras, and Protector of the Innocent" she stated her voice slightly contorted by her tactical visor.

James didn't move or respond, but his eyes followed her she walked to the opposite side of the table, and so she just stood there with her arms crossed. "Do you know what’s happening?" she asked.
James finally responded with some movement, he pulled his head up to stare at the visor of his new interrogator. "You mean the war that your Federation is fighting for the wrong reasons" he replied with frustration clearly evident in his voice, "Fighting whilst people suffer, struggle to feed their families"

The woman slammed her hands onto the table with incredible force "you think you’re the only one who has suffered.... I have suffered too..... I have lost a mother just like you.... a Father..... And now my younger brother is a Traitor"
James began to wonder, who was this person? What pain did she speak of? "Who are you?" he finally asked.

The woman did not respond, she stood tall once more pulled her right hand up to behind her helmet, clicking a small mechanism, the helmet and visor began to splinter, small lines began to appear across the visor and helmet showing the different pieces of the helmet was made off, slowly each piece pulled to the back of the neck.
Finally James saw the face of the young woman, she was a little older than him, around 28. She had reasonably long dark black hair tied back into a pony tail that was held close to her neck, her face was similar to James' barely any cheeks leading to the solid chin, and her eyes were Causican with dark brown iris colour.
James recognised her straight away and with tears forming he said her Name "Ab...... Abbie" Abigail Luck, his elder sister, the person who raised him from the age of 8.

(Federal Office of Intelligence File:
Name: Luck
First: Abigail
Age: 28
Rank: Commander
Division: Intelligence Commandos

Planet: Eva's Paradise
Work History: Commander Luck has been working with the Office of Intelligence since the age of 18, and much like her younger brother rapidly rose through the ranks, until she volunteered for specialised Commando training. Passed with flying colours. Infiltrated an Anti-Federal Political Group on Eva's Paradise and her information lead to several successful (Redacted) of leading members.
Resistance information: Lead the United Eva's Paradise Resistance movement for several months, but soon requested immediate extraction. Extraction was successful; her death was successfully faked with a Resistance Protection of a Refugee Camp.
Now currently to head Intelligence Commando Unit no. 227 on Eva's Paradise.
Commando Unit no. 227: a specially trained unit of 20 human men and women who are trained to fight even the vicious Mara Fighters.)

James just couldn't believe it, she was Alive, it was something he already knew but it was still a shock to see her as if nothing had happened. Normally he would be overjoyed but there was something else that he ended up asking "Traitor"
She nodded "Because of you we might lose the war" her voice was becoming more and more authoritarian.

"How?" He ordered, "How is it my fault that the FEDERATION is losing the war?"
Abbie just stared at him, as she came to realise that he didn't know "The Federation is dividing" she stated as she returned to crossing her arms across her chest. "Several Planets are beginning to rise up, riots mostly..... But there is one planet that is on the brink of more conflict" she paused to allow him to finally realise what planet she meant.
"Home" he calmly said almost under his voice. James was in shock, the Galaxy was on the brink of Civil war even when they have to fight the true enemy.
But Abbie was not done yet. "I was there a few days ago.... Home..... Was with my unit investigating a patrol that had disappeared" James knew what she meant by disappeared "That’s when we found them" she paused again James could tell that she had seen something truly horrifying.

(Report 36891:
Commander Abigail Luck:
We spent a few hours wandering the wilderness of the Buffer zone between the Colonial and Mara territories. Trying to find our lost patrol, what we found was truly horrifying.
We found them in a small rocky ravine, their bodies everywhere, 12 men and women just scattered around a 5 metre radius. They were cut to pieces, clear evidence of Mara raiders, since if it was anyone else they would have used Firearms.

We checked their weapons and found that all of their power cells, including those in their weapons were fully charged, none had fired even a single shot. They must have been caught in an ambush, never having the chance to fight back.
However we found something in the tracks. We found both Maric tracks and the boots that are common in the Colony. It is in my opinion that these insurgents are both Mara and Colonists.
Our final evidence was something written on one of the rocks the words were English Written in blood "This is Our Planet!"
It is in my opinion that the Planet is now on the brink of CRISIS)
All James could do was listen in both horror and awe as the words of civil war rang threw his brain. “I never wanted this!" he stated.
Abbie didn't care she leaned forward onto the table hand hooked to the brim of the tables edge, she opened her mouth to speak but was then forced to stagger as the entire room shuddered, it felt like an earth quake but of great proportions.

Above the sound of the metal shaking there was distinctive rubbles and bump like sounds of Explosions. Abbie closed her visor and helmet again and called on her radio "Status?" she shouted.
The rubbles continued and James could hear everything his sister was hearing, thanks to Kai hacking her Communications "The prison is under attack Commander.... we have Ships bearing the Liberator Insignia bombarding our outer defences and we have...aaaaaahhhh" the sound of words was suddenly covered by Gun fire of a Laser bolt rifle.
Soon an announcement was sent out through the speakers "Attention, security breach, the facility is under attack, all prisoners return to your cells". "Alert, Cell blocks A Through G are now under security statues red".
Abbie turned to James, after hearing the gun fire "It looks like it started”

James didn’t want this, he wanted peace not war “You have to believe me… I didn’t want this!”
Abbie didn't care as she charged out of the room she made a quick statement "YOU STARTED A CIVIL WAR… ALL THIS…. IS BECAUSE OF YOU!!" and made her way to the Control room, Leaving James chained to the chair, in a reinforced steel room, with no exit other than the door.
As the battle outside the prison continued and grew louder, James closed his eyes began to contemplate, Could a civil war be on the horizon, why are the Liberators attacking the Prison. But such questions could wait, his eyes opened and turned to the blood red of the Mara Blood Rage.
The following day, a Pirate signal was sent out

"This is a Pirated signal
If you are listening to this you deserve to know the truth
Early yesterday afternoon Rebel forces raided a prison of the Federation and liberated the innocent people waiting for the Unfair and unlawful trials for made up crimes.
This is just one of many messages today Everyday more and more planets join our cause, with every passing day the Unfair and the injustice of the Federations Authoritarian regime comes closer and closer to its end.
This is a message and a reminder to the freedom fighters across the Galaxy,
IT IS BETTER TO DIE FREE THAN LIVE AS SLAVES"

Chapter 3: Old Friends ish
The room was Dark, pillars scattered what was recently a bustling Gym, but now there was nothing, and cobwebs covered the old equipment, windows barred with iron rods. Only the moon light gave some visibility, yet even that was limited by the pillars.

From the shadows a figure moved slowly, gripping tight a weapon of some kind, it was of reasonable length with a type of crescent close to the tip of the barrel a design distinctive to the Felis Honour Guard Arc Crossbow. Using almost ghostly stealth, not making a single sound as he placed his feet.
Slowly he passed a pillar and from now where someone attacked, hidden behind the pillar was another shadow, very different however, he was heavily built wielding a pistol of some kind, his head was long and dragon like, behind his body was crocodile like tail swishing back and forth.
As they fought throwing punches and jabs with the butts of their weapons they were ended up creating more and more mess, as the gyms equipment became utterly destroyed under the weight of well-trained fighters.

Finally they reached a stalemate, with both of them aiming their weapons, the reptilian held his pistol high aiming at his opponents head. "Think I’m finally faster than you Furface" he said.
The opposing shadow shook his head and looked lower, the reptile did the same, and his opponent was aiming his Crossbow low at the groin. "Fucks sake" the reptile stated.
Lowering his weapon he began to laugh and embraced the opponent as a friend not an enemy, releasing him he gave the signal to follow, waving his hand.
Quickly turning to a single door. Below the door light was seeping through the cracks close

With light to see, the identities of both were finally revealed friends of James Luck, members of the Eva's Paradise Resistance, the Felis Honour Guard Captain Lionel Kirsch, with his distinctive Leopard like fur and long pointed ears on the sides of his head, wearing light dark black clothing to assist hiding in the darkness.

And the rough and foul mouthing Durk Komodo Gaul, with his many battle scars covering his face, arms and body. His dark black scale, bony crests above his eyes and the backward pointing spikes on the back of his head. And obviously the distinctive short, strong and Scarred Crocodile like tail.

Have been multiple arrests, however it seems that he quickly escapes and rallies more people against the Federation. All information from sources say that at every location he has been arrested or spotted, new rebel factions and Cells begin to immerge.)

As the two entered Lionel could see something that truly horrified him, the room was small, no bigger than a few metres wide by a few metres long, in the centre of the room was a wooden table, covered in old food rappers and Alcohol bottles, as well as many more and the cold concrete floor. To the left of the table was a simple metal foldable chair, on the far left was a simple metal bed with a simple collection of rugs covered the mesh in the middle. Lionel was somewhat disgusted, he would never live or even sleep in a place such as this. But he understood that Komodo is a different Person and that to him this a good way to live.

Komodo went over to his simple bed and took a seat, his tail curled behind him, reached down and from under his bed he pulled a large bottle of Durkish Alcohol, the same as all of the bottles scattering the room. The bottle was somewhat green, but the liquid inside was dark black, darker than the ace of spades.
Slowly he began to take multiple sips from the bottle as Lionel just stood there, watching his “Friend” get drunker and drunker.

After a few sips Komodo looked to his friend. “Weren’t you meant to be in Hiding, just like me after what happened” he stated the liquor slipping past his scaled lips and teeth.

Lionel turned grabbed the Chair with his paw like hand and pulled it in the direction of the bed, slowly taking a seat, he began to get himself comfortable, on the cold metal of the chair “Well it…. It was not hard to find you” He paused for a second to catch his breath and prepare himself for what he was about to say. “Things have changed” he leaned forward arms resting on his knees.
Komodo however was quick to respond in almost a drunken rage “Nothing’s changed… the federation still oppresses… Paradise is still occupied…. People still being murdered” he murmured certain words from the constant pauses to drink from his bottle.

Finally Lionel had enough, he suddenly pulled the bottle from his Scaly hands, and “things have changed… A REBELLION HAS BEGUN” He stated.
Komodo couldn’t believe it, he had heard stories from the places he had been, but still he didn’t know of a full-scale rebellion. “James?” he begged
Lionel returned to his pose, leaning forward arms resting on his knees, “Rebels… Attacked the prison he was being held in…. He escaped by himself…. None of the Security personnel survived”. From his bag he pulled a data pad and handed it over, Komodo slowly took it into his hands and began to read every word with care.

“File 22869
Prison escape:
Reports of a rebel attack were correct, the Office of Federal intelligence survivors report that the rebels were not able to gain access to the high security Area of the Prison, but were successful in freeing several Rebels and sympathizers that the prison was holding.
But we didn’t expect the bloodbath that was the high security wing.

We walked every corridor and found nothing but bodies, security personal either with broken necks, fatal head injuries or killed by Electro staffs, some look like their own staffs impaled them.
We finally found the source. It seems that the cause was High priority prisoner James Luck breaking out of the interrogation room. How the hell did he do it?
The doors look like he broke out using only brute force, but this doors have held an Anubian…. So how did one man break through and kill almost 46 Security personal and anyone else that got in his way.

From looking at the security footage, Jesus Christ, he did it all in a few minutes, 20 at the most.
20 minutes that’s all it took him to break down the door of the interrogation room, to the high security wing-landing pad Information shows that only one Small transport is missing. 20 minutes to kill all 46 of the best trained fighters”
Komodo couldn’t believe it, He just sat there.
Lionel was the one to break the tension “There’s more, the rebels, they were Liberators”
Komodo came around from his Daze and shock, “Liberators?” he asked

Lionel continued to explain, “Since James was arrested, and the Organization has begun to divide….” He paused for a moment to catch his breath “Two camps now exist... There are the loyalists who follow the admiral, who think the War is the cause of all this”
Komodo Interrupted, “And?”
Lionel continued “The Rebels those who follow James’ way, that the People should be cared for, so then we aren’t sacrificing our reason to fight” Komodo couldn’t hold it he knew that something had to be done.

“So let’s go…. We need to find James…. He’s the one who can stop this Civil War before…” Komodo had jumped up and was beginning to make his way to the door, but when he got there he paused, he noticed Lionel still sitting in the chair “Come on… Do you want a Civil War?”
Lionel Turned to him sadness growing in his eyes and a lump in his throat as he spoke the words. Komodo Loved to fight, it was his nature, the nature of his people, but not even he wanted to hear the words that Lionel was to give “It’s already BEGUN”.

And that was the truth, for Lionel knew that in dozens of colonies, Eva’s Paradise included amongst them there had been multiple rebellions against the Federation, and that Thousands of people were flocking to the rebels.

Elsewhere in a command centre of the Federation, Abbie just stood there pouring over information that she and her unit had collected. All was on her brother, she had been ordered to find him and bring him in. But as the months went on the information grew and the map of the galaxy extended with lines criss crossing as the information flowed:
March 3rd- Escaped from Prison facility- multiple dead no. 36 soldiers no. 122 prisoners
April 25th- Possible sighting on Kenya Colony- Investigated- no success
May 10th- Safe house found- DNA confirmation- left hours ago- Archaeological information
June 30th- Rebel faction cell found- all but one killed- claimed looking for James Luck
July 6th- Safe house found- DNA confirm- Invader Hunter Bodies found- Looking for him?
July 30st- Meeting with Gharial Rebel leader "Red Blade" Proven unfruitful, claimed not seen James Luck.
July 31st- Sighting of James Lucks Lover on Eva’s Paradise-Leading Insurgents
August 12th- Possible sightings of Komodo Gaul and Lionel Kirsch
August 13th- Sightings confirmed- suspects gathering computer equipment
August 14th- No sighting or new information on Target in over two months
HAS HE STOPPED RUNNING?

Chapter 4: The Father

Both Lionel and Komodo knew that if they were to find the lost James Luck before the Federation or worse before the Invaders they would have to call on old friends.

Friends like Rebecca Chi (pronounced Shay)
(Federal file: 913
Name: Rebecca
Last name: Chi
Known Alias: Mia/Maya/Becca/Bex
Age: 22
Race: Human
Planet of birth: Eva's Paradise
Background: Rebecca Chi is famed throughout the Galaxy as being one of the best biological hackers. Records show that she was able to hack the most top secret Federal files when she was 13 using only a human 21st century laptop.
Resistance: During her time with the resistance, our loyalist sources say that she provided engineering experience as well as her hacking expertise. Reports are that as well as making weapons and explosives for the resistance, she also made a pirate signal network where the resistance broadcasted information to counter invader and collaborator propaganda.

Current information: all our sources point to Rebecca Chi still being on Eva's Paradise, however our forces there have not been able to identify her location, however it is clear that the Network that she created is still in use, broadcasting propaganda that incites rebellion on the planet.)
As her network could assist in finding him, and if not it could work to try and get him to come out of hiding. Still within the dirty and rubbish covered backroom of the gym, Komodo and Lionel set up their new resistance HQ, the bottle filled room had changed, an extra bed had been brought in. A small thermal power generator, powering a variety of things, the power cells for weapons, computers even encrypted communicators.

As Lionel typed into the communicator trying to get a safe connection to the Rebecca’s Rebel Network. Komodo was getting his weapons set, all of his shotguns, pistols, rifles and from under his bed a massive high x (Explosive) Armour piercing Rocket launcher.
Finally a ping came from the communicator as the screen showed life, Lionel leaned back into his chair as he finally saw a face. One he didn't know unfortunately, the face was partially covered by fabrics that covered his lower face.
The unknown spoke with authority and pride "this is a restricted Resistance network, Identify yourself now"

Lionel leaned back forward, before he spoke "This is Captain Lionel Kirsch of the Free Felis Movement requesting to speak to Rebecca Chi (Shay) of Eva's Paradise"
The figure paused for a moment before answering "One moment sir" he looked away for a second "Authorization confirmed transferring you now sir"
The screen went black and Lionel waited, but Komodo had questions "Free Felis Movement?"
Lionel pivoted in his chair to see his friend "You’re not the only one who has been inciting Rebellions". He gave him a crooked smile to Komodo, who just stared at him with amazement the Cautious Cat, showing a rebellious streak.
From behind Lionel a voice came out "Furface, Komodo.... over here" Lionel turned and Komodo stood and walked over. On the screen was now their old friend and ally, Rebecca Chi, she was youngish woman of Asian descent, with dark brown hair tied back into a pony tail. She was happy to see her friends as she had huge smile on his face showing her pale white teeth, her face though was somewhat dirty, clearly she was living in the wilds of Eva's Paradise.

"HEY BECS good to see ya" Komodo stated, Lionel just smiled and nodded in the direction of the screen.
"So what’s up?" She asked,
Lionel was the first to answer, but he did so with caution "We need your help in finding someone.... its"
"James... I Know he broke out" Rebecca was quick to interrupt. Lionel and Komodo just stared at the screen with amazement, "What.... I’m a hacker Remember!" they both removed their shock to return to the questions.
"Any idea where the Wise ass might be?" Asked Komodo.
Rebecca was slow on her answer, she knew that her answer was going to be an obvious one “Really you’re asking me...... stop thinking where.... but WHO"
Komodo and Lionel scoffed at the answer because they were now realising how stupid they had been. Spending so much time thinking where he's gone and where he would go, when the answer was very clear. Before James would have disappeared he would have gone to the person who pulled him from the jaws of Anger and vengeance. Crimson.

The following day they were set and ready, thanks to Rebecca and her network they had managed to smuggle themselves into the Maric Territories of Eva's Paradise Rebecca had also been able to find her she was hiding somewhere in the border line areas in the northern areas of the planet. They flew low to avoid being identified as a federal ship, which the Maras would have certainly tried to shoot down. AS they sped across the open desert sands of the east, there was nothing, no life what so ever. Not even a settlement, Komodo was let the thought ponder as he kept his eyes on the Controls. He finally let it slip, "Where are the Mara settlements..... Two days flying this border and nothing"
Lionel looked out the window and truly pondered his answer before his spoke, "They probably fled to the la Maras, the last city of the Maras... fearing another Hellerick Massacre"

But just as Komodo was about to speak on the horizon something caught his attention. It was a collection of buildings, ruins to be precise. Lionel checked the holo map, they weren't in Mara territories but had crossed the border. The ruins ahead was the abandoned colonial settlement of Adamstown. The town where James had lost his mother, and the town that the invaders and their Collaborator allies had scorched with firebombs along with the Civilians inside.
They landed just at the outskirts, and slowly walked out of their transport, and towards the main road. Lionel was afraid, after all the Federation could have laid a trap, knowing that James could return to the place of his birth.
As they walked down the permanently scorched dark black soil, something was wrong and Lionel could feel it, Komodo too. They were being watched. Suddenly they both felt a strong and powerful whack onto the backs of their heads, Lionel was instantly knocked unconscious, but Komodo took another whack before he lost his senses.
When they awoke they were tied down, ropes and chains holding them onto metal chairs, the room they were in was dark, and the only source of light was a powerful bright and powerful standing pole light pointing at them. The room resembled an interrogation room. Two men watched over them, armed to with rifles, but with the light behind them it was impossible to identify who they were, friend or foe.
"Who are you?" One said with a strongly deep and powerful voice, neither gave a response "You’re not leaving until you tell us what we want to know" Komodo spat at the floor in front of the interrogators.

Lionel however seeking no fight responded “we are seekers"
The two guards looked at each other, when a third, clearly a woman from her silhouette stepped forward, she had different questions to ask "Since when do the legendary Commanders of the Resistance get caught by surprise"
The woman stepped forward some more and kneeled down in front of both, Both Lionel and Komodo recognized her straight away. A Maric woman, of dark black hair tied back into a long ponytail, hanging between her shoulder blades. Eyes as red as a rose. With not cheeks what so ever running from her cheek bones to her chin.
It was James' lucks Lover Crimson. They both smiled and chuckled at the question, she herself soon followed before standing and giving order "Heya sill Tara" (let them go)

(FEDERAL INTELLIGENCE FILE 398:
Name: Crimson
Race: Mara
Age: 24 (human years)
Information: all information on Crimson comes from loyalists on Eva's Paradise, she was apparently the lover of the leader of the Resistance James Luck. Hailing from the Maric clan of Suan. All information is limited, current location is unknown.
Believed to be leading one of several Insurgent groups on Eva's Paradise, current location of her group, consisting of Maras and Colonists is currently unknown. ALL MILITARY FORCES ON PLANET SHOULD PROCEED WITH CAUTION)

Her outfit was a mixture of Colonial gear and Mara armor, it gripped tight to her skin, almost but was clearly light and strong. Its color was dark black when not in use but camouflage-able (changes colour and camouflage depending on external environment). She led the two out of the way of the light. Where the room was revealed to be a basement, with nothing but the chairs and light in the room. But Crimson lead them up a collection of stairs that lead upwards.
At the top, they found a ruined house, with beds, clothing, weapons, medical supplies and much more. Crimson continued to lead them, out of the ruin and into the town, and in complete contrast of the ghost town that was Adamstown when they arrived, the street was a hive of activity, people wearing similar armor and equipment walking back and forth. Even a few civilians doing everyday lively duties.

She turned, raised her hands and said “Welcome to HQ” she smiled as she did so. It was clear that her time with the resistance had taught her much about organization. On top of the more complete buildings were look outs and sentries, fires and other signs of activity were concealed inside the ruins away from eyes in the sky.
Lionel was impressed, it made him think of a Felis military camp, small, out the way, organized and properly hidden. Komodo was more impressed with the weapons and equipment, he wished he had more things like that.

Crimson continued to walk but now she walked and talked "We've been resisting the Federation however we can... mostly hit and runs on patrols" she paused for a moment to catch her breath "Thanks to Rebecca we have connections with other Resistance Cells that refused to give up the fight, quite a few in the cities"

Komodo was quick to ask a question though, "What about the horde?” he was talking about the massive army of two to three million Maras.

"What about them? They can't enter the fight without James" She answered and they knew she was right, the army won't march without the King to lead them. Slowly she turned into a small house, inside was different, unlike the other houses that had multiple beds, this one only had a single bed, but there was other objects, Weapons, equipment and a long range communication computer network. Also within the room was an old sofa, a bit dusty and torn fabrics.
Lionel though had bigger questions "Crim.... you are probably aware why we're here"
Crimson didn't need ask “Your looking for him" Komodo and Lionel knew that she definitely had seen him from that answer
Crim stood by the sofa and just stared at them her arms crossed.
Lionel was the first to ask a question yet again "When did you last see him?" he said it as he slowly walked towards her.

She waited before answering "A few days ago" she couldn't lie not to them, they were friends. She decided that if she was going to be questioned they she was going to sit down and get comfortable. She took a seat on the sofa, but kept her back straight instead of leaning back against the Sofa cushions.
Komodo took over the questioning "Do you know where he is now?"
Crimson just shook her head saying "No" her answer was quick, too quick perhaps Komodo thought.
Lionel knew she was hiding something as well, so he too took a seat, he sat next to her and said "We need to find him, before they do" Crimson looked quickly over to Lionel, he knew she wanted to know why they had known. Komodo too saw the gravity and tension in the room, and had pace over in front of Crimson, he knelt down to be at eye level.
Lionel though began to stutter "The Federation...they'll...they'll" he paused clearing his throat, and took a deep breath

Crimson was quick to answer "Their Gonna kill him aren't they"
Komodo took over "To them.... he is a great threat to their power" Crimson refused to give either of them eye contact, raising her head to keep the truth in her eyes hidden. The same eyes that were now filling with tears, she wanted to help the man she loved, but she was afraid that if she told them he would be put in danger, and so she held firm.

Lionel and Komodo respected her resistance, and rose to their feet and slowly began to walk out, Komodo was he first to reach the door with Lionel close behind. But then the wind and air in the room changed and Lionel caught a whiff of a specific aroma. Realizing what it was, he turned to Crimson, still sitting on the Sofa, eyes filled with tears and said "James is the Father isn't he?"

Chapter 5: Juggernaut he we come
It was a painful reunion for the three friends, but Lionel and Komodo had no choice they would have to search alone. Yet now they had another reason to find James, so that he could learn that he was going to be a father.

After many days of smuggling themselves across several planets, meeting with dozens of rebel factions, they found themselves back where they started, in the back room of a Gym that served as their safe house.
The equipment was all still there, but where too now, they had nothing to work with. They had no leads, no information and no allies who they could call on any time soon. The two sat there Lionel in front of the Communicator and Komodo cleaning an already spick and span weapon on his bed. They didn’t say a word, there was nothing to say, for there was nowhere to go.
Questions buzzed through their minds where is he? How do we find him? What if we can’t find him? These were just some of thousands of questions covering their thoughts, but none had answers, or even clues to the answer.

Then from almost out of nowhere, a sudden ping from the communicator, both heard it and rushed to react. Lionel began to access the system and pull up the caller, the screen lit
“If you wish to find James Luck that use the information I am sending you” It went, as he spoke a series of files and images began to show themselves on a different computer next to the communicator.

Lionel wanted to know one thing “Who are you... why do want to find him?”
The figure did not move, “There is a Prophecy about that Young man” he paused “Find him so he can fulfill his destiny” the communication ended and the screen went black.
Komodo and Lionel just stared at the screen, doing nothing, they now had new questions who was this guy? Why does he care for James? What Prophecy?
But that would have to wait, Lionel instantly turned his attention to the new collection of information, but it was odd, all the information was old, from decades ago. Old archaeological data, about the Ethereal.

(Ethereal:
A race of almost supreme Space faring beings that had the ability to manipulate things with the immense power of their Minds. Similar to Telekinesis, the ability to move objects with their minds, to modern races they are incredibly tall believed to stand at around 5 metres. They are believed to have died out over 10,000 Earth years ago. There are multiple theories to their extinction, some think they over used their abilities and destroyed themselves, some think that some kind of disease killed them. The primary theory is that because they lived by exploring and learning about other cultures that they overstretched their race and this lead to them eventually leading them to be unable to reproduce.

A relatively new theory has come forward, by “Redacted” who believes that the Ethereal were subject to a Genocide, where their entire race was wiped out by the Invaders that we are currently fighting. As well as this the individual believes that the Ethereal attempted to warn the Current Space Faring races)

And that was the link, James was fascinated with the Ethereal, after all a memory of one had shown James, Komodo, Lionel and Crimson what would happen if they failed. The memory had shown them the end of the Universe.

Perhaps this could be the clue, Lionel poured through it all, every image, every word he stared at it for many hours. All Komodo could do was just sit on the bed, wait and wait. Many hours of waiting for Lionel to find something.
After endless hours, Komodo had fallen asleep, his mouth wide open snoring at the top of his breath. But Lionel was still wide awake, he had never been much of a fan for Caffeine yet by now he had well over several cups of coffee. He was well past the half way mark of all the information, that bam he had found it an image.

He shot up and towards Komodo, shaking him back and forth to wake him up, Komodo was awake but was still being shaken. Shouting “SSSSSSSTTTTTTTTOOOOOOPPPPPP!!” Lionel finally did so, and pulled him to the computer.
The Image was something they both knew and recognized it, a small cube object the shape and size of a Rubik’s cube. But plated is gold and crystals, with a coin like shape  on the top, it was the same type of object that James’ father had given him. The information pointed it to be a Relic of the Ethereal but they both knew what it was “A memory” Lionel stated.
The object contained just like James’ a memory of the Ethereal. Something that allowed the Ethereal to speak to the future races from the dead. But one thing caught Komodo attention, where it was found, JUGGERNAUT.

Juggernaut is a planet that is close to the Galactic core, the closet habitable planet to the core. More like the only planet capable of life. Yet for some reason there is none, all information of Juggernaut is that the planet is nothing more than scorched black soil and Rocky Mountains. But Lionel saw something in the information “Co-ordinates…. To an Ethereal Temple on Juggernaut”
But Komodo saw something else, the object itself was missing “Stolen” he said. They had their clue, James escaped, went to see Crim, stole this object and then went to Juggernaut to look into it.
“Juggernaut here we come Baby” Komodo proudly stated, cocking his shotgun.

Chapter 6: The Old Friends trail

Juggernaut was just as they said it was, very warm, with nothing only scorched black ash like soil not even a single plant rising from the soil, the odd boulder as black as the soil it laid upon. There was no sound, no bird song, no insects buzzing, only the wind whistling around the soil and boulders.
Thanks to the Rebels, Komodo and Lionel had some help. A small two seated bomber, similar to the old fighters that the resistance had on Eva’s paradise. It was small but fast, they moved low close to the ground with Komodo at the controls, making an obvious dust trail in the air as they sped across the planet. Then on the horizon they saw something, a building? No a temple. This must be the place that James is there, because there was nothing else.

They landed just in front of the entrance, the temple was a case of Deja Vu for Komodo and Lionel, and it was just like the temple of Eva back on Eva’s Paradise. It was built into a rocky mountain, in fact if it wasn’t for the temples large doorway the temple actually looked like a Mountain of rocks.
The two slowly walked in through the doorway, using torches and Lionel’s Feline eyes, they slowly took every step deeper and deeper into the mountain. The walls of the temple were very ragged, it looked more like an abandoned mine than temple built by Ethereal. The only way they knew they were in the right place was because of markings covering the walls.

Lionel looked to the floor, and saw tracks, a single set of human shaped footprints in the dust of the black sand. A single-track way leading deep into the mountain and a single set leading out, Lionel pointed in the direction and began to walk slow and steady. The air inside was cold, very different to the air outside the mountain temple; it was as if they had entered a room with air conditioning. Both in front of them and behind them there was nothing but darkness.
They had expected to find some rooms or alternate corridors, but nothing the corridor just went on and on, slowly sloping down underground. Lionel could see the puffs of fog in his torchlight from warm breath meeting the cold air. The tracks went on deeper and deeper. Komodo was worried; he didn’t like to be underground. It gave him something similar to a stomach-ache.

Yet it went on and on, neither of them knew how long they had been walking down into the mountain. Until finally a light at the end of the tunnel, far into the corridor there was a small flicker of light, it looked like the type of light from a fire. Komodo readied himself, trying to cock his shotgun without making a sound, and with the tiniest click it was ready, ten shots that’s what he had with this power cell. And he felt a little vulnerable, for he had come lightly armed, which felt wrong to him, he only had this shotgun with three power cells including the one loaded in it, except that he only had his pistol with two power cells.
Lionel had his crossbow, and that didn’t require power cells but it could also be turned into an electro staff for close quarter combat, but Komodo didn’t like being lightly armed, he would prefer to have as many weapons as he can carry.
But as they made their way carefully down the corridor they saw more and more detail, there was a room large an expansive, just like the alter room on Eva’s Paradise. Large circular, with ancient carvings covering the walls, strong stone pillars holding up the ceiling, a ring of fire skirting around the room behind the pillars but in front of the walls.

In the dead center was a statue similar to the statue in the other temple, but this one was more masculine. Had stronger upper body proportions and the manner of his arms holding up with fists of power. Oddly enough they had expected to find someone in the room, yet there was nothing, there was something very strange going on and they both knew it.
The dusty sands of the room’s floor, bore the same tracks that they had followed, a single biped creature with human like feet. Walked into the room stood before the statue and then walked out, it was baffling because any normal person would wander around and look at the many carvings and paintings that covered the walls behind the columns and ring of fire.

But no whomever was here, just went to the statue and then left, could they have left with something? But the primary question pressing both of their minds was could it have been James? But it seemed that there was something there, Invader creatures, hunters and Grunts a dozen or so scattered around the room, each had something different about them, some had bruises and cuts, others had strange marks on the necks, possibly indicating broken necks. But one or two had deep cuts and stab wounds that definitely came from a bladed weapon.
The two began to wander, looking for any form of clue that could point them in the right direction, anything that would help them find their friend. Komodo found a spot within the dust covered floor with marks in the sand, he recognized a partial shape, and it looked like a rifle to him. Whomever was here put their rifle down in that spot before standing in front of the statue.

But it was Lionel and his keen senses that made something that gave the, their best chance of finding their friend. A small collection of scratches on stone slab that the statue stood upon, at first he strained his eyes trying to comprehend what the words were. Then it dawned on him, the words were not in any human language, they were in Maric. “Nac a sal Futura ini sor Unikal” “Where the future of the Universe was shown to us” Lionel knew strait away what he meant “The temple of Eva” He stated.
Komodo heard these words and turned to his comrade “But he saw Crim…. So why come here just to go back?” it was a question with merit, why would James go in one big circle? This question went through both of their minds, but it didn’t matter they were close; they were on the brink of finding their friend and comrade.

Chapter 7: Friends United

After a week of none stop travel, Komodo and Lionel stood once more in front of one of the most sacred sites of the Maric peoples. The temple of Eva, built deep into the mountainous spine that runs straight across the planet, separating the Maric desert lands in the east and the Human Colonist fertile green fields to the west.
The Temple hadn’t changed since they were last there, the temple of the door remained as a perfect rectangle, going deep into the darkness of the mountains core. The emblems and statues covering the walls and columns that were carved into the walls of the mountain remained clear and perfectly shaped.

Lionel was the first to enter the darkness, torch in hand, his Arc Crossbow strapped to his back. Komodo followed soon behind now bristling with weaponry, pistols covered his legs, shotguns strapped to his tail and large knives in sheaths tied to his forearms. He followed close behind, constantly checking the rear, to make sure they weren’t being followed, but his attention soon turned to his gut as they went further and further underground his gut began to churn, from his hatred of being underground.
Lionel suddenly paused after man minutes of following the endless corridors of the temple, he slowly knelt down and found something odd. “Look at this” he whispered.

Komodo checked and saw nothing “There’s nothing there” a statement of the obvious.
Lionel turned to his comrade and showed a face of annoyance “Exactly…. We have been here before”
“SO” Komodo stated, resting his hands onto his hips.
Lionel scoffed at the question and replied with why he was saying such “So wouldn’t there be Tracks in the dust”
Komodo looked to the floor, and he was right, there was nothing not a single sign of people being here, which should be impossible, especially since he knew that they had been here before. The only logical conclusion was that James had covered his tracks to prevent anyone tracking him to the central chamber.

They both readied their weapons, Komodo was happy that he didn’t make the same mistake as before, he pulled two of his pistols, large and heavy, definitely his style, after all heavy pistol could give quite a punch.
With every step they took it was impossible to not make a sound, every step echoed into the darkness. It made Lionel uncomfortable, he feared that anyone and everyone could hear them, and he preferred to catch his enemies by surprise.

Suddenly he paused, frozen solid, his body almost unable to move, the cold air of the temple whistling past his fur and his long elven like ears. His eyes remained steadfast on the direction from which his fear came. Komodo began to worry, he could see what had made his friend to become almost frozen, it was not fear, and it was hope. For far into the stone hallway that lead to the central chamber was the tiniest flicker of light, something that they hoped for.
Because throughout it all it could lead to their friend, their brother, their leader, the one man who could lead them all to freedom. The one man who could end the war, the man who could unite the galaxy, the one man who could show people what it is to be free, and what it is to know what freedom is.

As they slowly walked to the empty doorway, and saw the room that was the central chamber, the great circular room, the stone monolith pillars holding the ceiling up, the carving and paintings on the circular walls, showing the invasion that was foretold. The statue of Eva standing in the dead center atop her stone pedestal. But in front of her was a figure, whomever it was, was sitting almost like he or she was meditating, their legs crossed. The clothing they wore was tattered and torn dark black cloth, similar to what the resistance used to wear during the fight.
Slowly the figure began to move and as they did certain sounds could be heard, the distinct sound of machinery moving back and forth. Komodo and Lionel could see that the person in front of them, had artificial limbs on his left side, leg and arm. Another point in favor of this person being James they both thought.

Slowly the figure turned to face them, the face they saw was one similar to them, a human with no fleshy cheeks, an artificial eye in his left eye socket, which was clear from the scars that surrounded the eye socket, but his right eye was real and was dark brown. His hair was the same dark brown, reasonably long, from living in the wilds, his hair was tied back into a small what the Maras call wolf tail on the back of his head.
But that didn’t matter to them, they only saw their brother, High King of the Mara peoples and war hero James Luck.
James brought forth a crooked smile on his face, on seeing his friends. Slowly he put one foot in front of the other as he walked towards his friend, upon standing only a few feet, he opened his arms and embraced the two of them for what they were friends and brothers.

Chapter 8: The past and the future

After a few moments of meeting and greeting, they began to take a seat next to the statue, slowly they began to recall tales of their travels after they all went their separate ways after the liberation of Eva’s Paradise from the Invaders.
But it was James that had the most compelling story, as he explained he began to view the memory within his head. Him being back in the temple on Juggernaut, standing before the masculine statue of the Ethereal, opening the memory with the temple.

As before the room went into darkness as the fires surrounding the room died down, slowly from the statue the ghostly memory of the ethereal came forth. But this one was different to the Memory James encountered back home on Eva’s Paradise, not only was the memory clearly male, but the hood and shadow did not cover the whole face, James could just see what appeared to be an almost human like Mouth.
Looking down at the human before him he spoke “Welcome Prophet…. What took you so long?” The Memory gave James the slightest of Smiles as he said these words. Out of respect James returned the Smile and gave the memory a deep bow as he held his right hand over his heart.

Upon returning to standing tall, James began to ask the question “What is so important about the ship?” He pointed to the temple walls, more specifically at the image of the immense Invader ship.

Slowly the memory began to explain, as around James images and ghosts of the Past began to show themselves through what resembled mist. “Thousands of years ago, those you call invader, Used that ship to begin the war….” He paused for a moment, “They used its incredible power and dealt a destructive and devastatingly deadly first strike against our people”

James asked a single question “So the ship had immense and powerful weaponry”

The memory slowly responded “Yes… more powerful than you could even imagine” The ghostly images around James turned to those of chaos and destruction as the ghostly image of the ship fired on a planet “The ship was so powerful that it destroyed our fleet and our home in a single blow”. The planets ghost turned bright red and orange, as clearly it was burning, then slowly dark black. James realized he was standing on the Ethereal home world, or what’s left of it.

As well as this James was now understanding the reason that no one has ever found ethereal bones, it’s because there was no Remains. “But that happened thousands of years ago… what does it have to do with our war now?” James asked with growing urgency

“Listen carefully, the Invader ship will soon return… and they plan on using it to finish the war once and for all” The memory paused as the ghostly images turned once more to those of the future, planets that James knew, his home, planets he had fought on, becoming just like Juggernaut, barren, ash covered planets no longer capable of holding life.
“If they succeed……. Not even you will be able to restore the freedom of the universe…… James Luck…..you must defeat the Invasion, before the ship can arrive”

James couldn’t believe what he was hearing, he had to end the Civil war gripping the Federation, Unite the many races and fight off the invasion all before this ship arrives to destroy them.
Slowly his mind returned to the present, and he could feel the pressure building up once again on his already troubled mind. Komodo and Lionel had just sat there, listening to every single word. But there was one thing Lionel could see, James was looking more concerned, afraid even. So he asked “James is something wrong?”  James turned to him, fear still held on his face, and Lionel could truly see that it wasn’t the fact that an invader machine capable of wiping out all life on a planet is coming.
James finally gave an answer “I’m being hunted”
Komodo was the first to give an answer to the statement “Invaders have always hunted you, and they haven’t killed you… a second time” he realized how stupid he sounded and began to give a small chuckle at his mistake.

James just gave a simple chuckle at the thought, before the face of fear covered over the joy of laughter “You’re afraid” Komodo asked.
James answered without even looking at either of his friends “Damn, bloody right I am”
Lionel was quick to respond with urgency, leaning forward elbows to his crossed legs, “But you’ve never been afraid of the Invader” James gave no answer, but both of them knew it wasn’t the invaders he was afraid of.
Komodo, pulled closer and gave a simple but important question “James!” he called, grabbing his friend’s attention, now James was looking into the faces of his comrades and friends. “Who’s hunting you?”
James took a deep breath before he even considered giving his response, after what felt like an eternity, he finally gave a single word as his answer.
He said “Abbie” his elder sister.

Chapter 9: The Hunt and Divide

Meanwhile on another part of the planet Abigail Luck the elder sister of James Luck, had been given her new mission, no longer was she to hunt members of the rebellion on Eva’s Paradise, or hunt Insurgents. Her new orders were simple, find her brother and bring him in dead or alive.
The room she was in was extremely busy; it was a large intelligence room, metal walls and doors, but no windows. Around the walls were screens showing the different pieces of information from not just Eva’s Paradise but for dozens of other planets fighting in the civil war.
Running back and forth were soldiers, officers and other uniformed peoples, trying desperately to do their jobs. In the dead center of the room was a large holo table, showing the many leads, clues, sightings even rumors of James Luck.

Everything from the moment he broke out of prison, to possible sightings on dozens of different planets and colonies. But standing next to the table hand sifting through the mounds of information and rumors, was Abbie herself, trying desperately to try and find her brother, not because it was her duty, but because she knew that she was the only one who would be willing to bring him in alive.
Then almost from nowhere Abbie was approached by an officer holding a Data pad, “Commander Luck we have a possible lead” he said, she quickly turned her attention to the officer and took the data pad, “We’ve been following Lionel Kirsch and Komodo Gaul as you ordered and well…. They’re here on Eva’s Paradise…. They were spotted by one of our recon drones, entering a Maric Temple deep in the mountains”
Abbie realized where they were, the temple of Eva, “Get Captain Tomas to get a team together, call the Pilot Bones to prepare a transport and call in Medical officer Rails”
The soldiers in the room began to move around much quicker as they attempted to complete the tasks set to them, But Abbie was not yet done “It’s time to get my Brother back”

She activated her helmet systems, closing the visor and helmet around her face, grabbed a weapon and began to march out of the doors towards to the transports. But standing in her way was a Felis, wearing the dappled colour of Black, Orange and brown of a Felis Honour Guard member. The Felis was a woman, with Dark black coloured fur and dark brown eyes. Her armor was light and loose to permit movement. On her back as is customary in the Honour Guard was an Arc Crossbow.
Abbie did not move, she just stood there, until the Felis woman in her way spoke “I am here to assist in capturing my brother” She stated, proudly.
Abbie just stood there neither of them willing to speak until “and who might he be Commander?” Abbie asked
The woman before her looked to her feet before returning eye contact “My name is Panthea Kirsch, I am Lionel Kirsch’s twin sister”

Abbie could now understand, she was going through the same thing she was, having to fight her brother, having to bring him in dead or alive. She gave the slightest of nods before finally being permitted to continue her walk to the transports, followed closely by Panthea.
Once all on board many faces three of the thirteen faces on-board were very familiar to Abbie, her long time brother of Bond to her and James Alexandro Tomas, former Resistance pilot Franklin Bones flying the transport, Former Resistance Medic Charles Rails. All of them had previously had been willing to fight and die for James and now here they were going to try and arrest him.

Abbie was scared, it was plain to see on her face, Tomas was the same, they knew that they couldn’t get him to surrender they would have no choice but to fight him, and possibly even kill him. And that was the hardest thought for Abbie, whom through the whole constant movement of the Transport from turbulence she just stared at her boots. She couldn’t take the thought of what was to come after all she had raised James from a young age and taught him many lessons, one of which he was following now the lesson of freedom. Throughout it all they managed to keep their cool, for they were not the only ones whom were unsure Bones, Rails, even Panthea was scared but didn’t show it. They were about to go to war with someone they once called friend, Rails had the thought of “I saved his life and now I might be going to take it”.

Back at the temple, James, Lionel and Komodo had finally come into the light of the sun, stepping out from the somewhat darkness of the Temples depths. Allowing their eyes to ease from the sudden change from darkness to overwhelming light they finally saw figures standing before them. Some of them were very recognizable, Skuller the resistance pilot, Rebecca Shay and a few others, only two colonists and a Maric fighter. All were wearing the dark black tattered clothing of the old resistance. But they were bloody and bruised, they had obviously been in a fight.
Rebecca was the one to step forward, seeing James she had given a crooked smile, but slowly she came to her senses by saying something that Hit James hard, “James… Feds found us…. They took Crim”

James stood there in shock and awe, he couldn’t believe it, and the woman he loved was now in the hands of people who would be more likely to execute her for treason than actually give her a trial. But what hit the hardest was to come, because Rebecca had not finished.
“James…. JAMES!” Rebecca tried to regain her attention, she succeeded as he turned to her “James… Crim had a child…. It was yours” this almost made James him freeze solid, he couldn’t believe it, he didn’t even know she was pregnant, the only time they had spent together was after the taking the planet back from the Invaders.
“What… what was it” He mumbled he desperately wanted to know, as his mind was rushing to the thought of him being a Father.

Skuller stepped forward to answer “A girl…Crim gave birth just as they attacked”
Before James could respond a specific sound began to echo out across the empty valleys a loud flame like sound, Skuller recognized the sound it was a Troop transport, James recognized it too, and he wasn’t afraid, he was angry, the Federation had taken the woman he loved and his new-born daughter. He wanted them to come, so he could find them and take them back.
The transport slowly came into view, and the Rebel fighters rallied around James. Forming a makeshift arrowhead formation. The Transport slowly lowered itself, closing in on the rocky, sand covered valley floor.

With a massive clang, the landing gears hit hard, and slowly the ramp at the back began to lower. With a sudden bang, the metal met the solid rock and several peoples began to slowly march off, around 13 people, the majority were humans, but one was a female Felis, with an arc-crossbow.
Once they were all off the transport, the two groups stood opposite each other Abbie leading the loyalists, James leading the rebels.
The two sides stood firm, neither of them making any form of movement. Abbie tried to appeal “James please…. You said you didn’t want this war….”
James just stared at his sister “you know I just found out that I have a daughter and YOU FEDS HAVE TAKEN HER AND HER MOTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Abbie heard the words and couldn’t believe it, she was as shocked as James on hearing the news, she had a niece, and James was a father. This was making things harder for her, she didn’t want to fight.
“Please I will find them, but….. If you do this…. There will be all out war” Abbie continued to beg her brother, trying to appeal to his senses.
James though just replied with the same thing what many had been saying when they discussed the Federation and the civil war it was in, yet his answer was the same she had said many months ago “You Said it Yourself..... YOU'VE JUST STARTED A WAR!!!"

Abbie knew what he was saying was right he didn’t care he was angry, and now she had no choice, she turned to her troops and friends, Tomas, Rails, Bones and Panthea. And with a second they prepped their weapons, Abbie pulled an Electro staff from it sheath on her back, Tomas prepped himself by cracking his knuckles, Rails and bones did the same. Panthea grabbed her Arc-Crossbow and pulled the mechanism to make it an electro staff.

On the side of the rebels James pulled from its sheath on his back the Maric Royal Blade, Lionel prepped his own Arc-crossbow, Komodo cracked his own knuckles knowing he was going to have a few punches thrown. Rebecca, Skuller and the other rebels did the same, they were outnumbered the loyalists numbered 13 and they numbered only 8.
And so the standoff renewed, with both sides weapons drawn and fighters prepared for throwing punches. They held firm, neither side willing to make the first move. But then James took a step forward, then another and another, seeing this Abbie knew that this was it, she had no choice now. But something made her think, she could see James’ eyes, they were blood red, he had gone into a Maric blood rage.

She in turn took her first few steps forward, both of them slowly increasing their pace, closely followed by the fighters and friends around them. Slowly increasing walking jogging, and then a full blown charge. James raised his sword high and let out a great Echoing deep booming roar from the very bowels of his throat. His voice was soon joined with the charging screams of those around him as they charged their opponents.
James and Abbie soon clashed, the Royal blade meeting the solid metal of an electro staff. Both of them began to send multiple strikes and blows in each others direction, but each time they beat back the strike.

Lionel was in a fight of his own, as two Felis Honour Guard members fought each other to a standstill. Each using their staffs with speed and precision, neither getting the upper hand.
Meanwhile the other members of the loyalists and Rebels were fighting for their lives, Komodo was in his element, using his strength and training to beat the living Christ out of four of the federal soldiers, including Tomas.
The two sides continued to fight, each time they would engage in a fight they would merely make themselves more bloodied.
Abbie even though she was fighting her brother she desperately tried to stop the violence “Please end this” she shouted

“Fight until freedom reigns…. That is what you taught me” James shouted in reply as he prepared to launch another attack on his sister.
Abbie weaved and jinked avoiding him relentless assault that her own brother was giving, not only that he was using the very things that she had taught him against her. As she fought she began to think was he right, had she chosen the wrong side?

With these thoughts covering her mind she failed to see her troops falling, the rebels were winning this fight. “FALL BACK…. FALL BACK RETREAT…. GET BACK TO THE TRANSPORT” She shouted, to the survivors. But their thirteen now numbered only four, as all of her soldiers had fallen and rails was critically wounded, lying on the stone cold metal floor of the transport.
AS the transport rose from the ground, James gave a thunderous roar like order “WAIT! Let them go…. Let them tell the Feds what is coming”

Inside the transport Tomas and Abby was desperately trying to save rails, he had several cuts and many of them deep, but the one that was killing him was a single slash close to his heart. Blood was pouring out of his wounds, covering his armor and clothing, he could barely breathe, every breath he took made him cough up more and more blood.
Tomas desperately held his hands over the wounds, trying to push hard enough to stop the bleeding, but then Rails slowly lifted his bloodied hand and held it upon Abby’s’ heart, “do not….. Blame…. Him…..” he desperately struggled forth from his dying breath. And with that his hand fell heavy, his eyes fell frozen, and his breath fell silent.
Tomas was still struggling with medical kits and bandages trying to save an already dead man. Abby returned to the land of the living and stopped him, holding his shoulder and muttering the words “He’s Gone”.

The transport was very different than when it was before, many empty seats, and much blood spreading across the flat, cold, metallic floor of the floor. Of the thirteen that started the attempt, now only four were alive. Alive but wounded, all of them had some form of injury, Bones was having to constantly cough, from a heavy punch by Komodo to his chest, and that is one of the things that Komodo is very good at. It was hard for Bones to even fly, from the coughing and pain in his chest.
Panthea had multiple small cuts and bruises from her fight with her brother Lionel, even she was beginning to have doubts about her mission, to find and arrest her brother, Just like Abbie she was doubting whether or not she could kill her brother if she had no other choice.
Abby was in the worst, she was now truly torn after seeing her brother, what he had become. She had no idea that the Federal forces had captured the woman he loved and the child she had given birth too. Why didn’t they tell her this? What is James going to do now?

These question weighed heavy on her mind, as she just stared at the bloodied body of Charles Rails, someone whom had saved James’ life once and James killed him without a second thought. Suddenly a thought sprung into Abby’s mind, a question about what could happen next, and this question brought a nightmare with it. What is stopping James from calling forth the Maric Horde?
(Maric Horde: the entire army of over several million, nicknamed the horde as it is the combined forces of all the Maric Clans, and is and can only be called forth by the King in a time of war)

Yet for two weeks nothing happened, there was no word, none of the drones or satellites could catch a glimpse of what was happening. The federation tightened its hold, it sent three battalions of Droids (Mechanical robots built to resemble humans, capable of using firearms like assault rifle, and act like biological soldiers, such as taking cover) numbering over 2,000 to the capital city of the colony, as well as over 1,000 federal peacekeeping troops mostly humans to one of the outlaying settlements on the northern border of the Fertile lands.

Chapter 10: The Last Stronghold

James knew what was to come and so with his friends began the long walk to a safe house, of a kind anyway.
For days they walked through the scorching sun of the Eva’s Paradise summer, the heat was hard on them all, even Komodo being a Durk and therefore Bi-tempretural (warm and cold blooded) was feeling the heat as too much. Yet James pressed on he knew where they had to go.
For days they just walked, only stopping at night to rest and avoid any prowling Kalgrims, (Reptilian wolf like creatures, that stand two meters at the shoulder, have large bony turtle like armor plates covering their backs, shoulders and hips to protect them from the sun, are incredibly strong, and have immense stamina, and too top it off large upper sabre like canines. Maras have managed to domesticate some for riding during battle and long distance)

Finally they reached the so called safe house, they all just stared at it, for it was truly immense.
The safe house they had spent days walking to, was an ancient Maric Fortress, with walls several metres thick, towers as tall as the Eiffel Tower, stone as solid as the mountain it was built against. The stone was old and cracked from the centuries, But Komodo had noticed something, markings from explosives, and small artillery pieces. The fortress had been attacked decades ago.
As they entered the great emptiness of the fortress gates Komodo finally had to ask, “James what is this place?”

James turned to his friends and stated “The Last Strong hold” He turned back and continued to walk through the vast emptiness of the fortress’ massive courtyard. He slowly continued to explain the history of the fortress “This place was the location of the Maric Last stand, during the early days of the colony” They slowly turned into a small ramp leading upwards into the Fortress’ inner wall. “When the Maras had been forced into the east, chased by the colonial militias, they stopped here and held the line, peace was restored and colony flourished but the Maras struggle... yet they........”. he suddenly stopped in his tracks, just standing in the empty gateway of the inner fortress.

The inside of the fortress was bloody, They all could now see that the massacre of the Hellerick Guard did not just end the day James was arrested. No it went much further, for the entire inner courtyard was covered in the bodies of the members of the Guard and the Federations soldiers that were sent to eliminate them all. As James and the group walked the courtyards blood covered cobblestone floor, James felt not just guilt but anger, hatred and vengeance. The Federation had completely wiped out a part of the Maric Culture.
They had desecrated the ancient stronghold that the Hellerick Guard used as a head quarters. Yet things were to become oh so much worse for his guilt, for as he made his way through he found the great Hall.
James finally came to the fortress inner door leading into the mountain, he pushed the great wooden decorative door, with all his strength, and yet despite his hybrid blood could only push open one side of the double doors.

Inside was darkness only lit up by the light of the sun streaming in from the now partially open door. As James wandered around the room the rest of the group remained static to what they were seeing, a large room with massive table in the dead center, around it were dozens of solid wooden seats, but at its head was the largest, obviously meant for the king, James finally came to it and smiled for on the table was something important a ring, a golden ring with an emblem embedded on a small flat section. James understood straight away that it was the royal signet ring upon it was the old crest of the Mara kings a small song bird in flight with a serpent in its tiny claws.

(History: Maric

Thousands of years before Humans arrived on Eva's Paradise, the Maras were ruled by Clan Servent, whose banner was that of a great serpent. They were very cruel rulers, often using torture to intimidate the other clans into remaining complacent, it wasn't until a member of clan Val, rose up in rebellion using a new symbol of a great serpent pierced by a sword as one of freedom. The rebellion was successful and clan Val became the ruling Clan, with a new sigil that of the young man who started and lead the rebellion. whom merged the old sigil of clan Val and the serpent of clan Servent, in this case a song bird carrying a dead snake, claiming the song bird was flying forward into the future.)

He slowly fitted it to his right ring finger, before turning around to see more blood.

As the light from the sun changed as time passed, they all could see how brutal the loyalists could be, for throughout the great hall, just like outside, the room was a blood bath. Survivors of the guard and federal soldiers littered the entrance to the hall. But what was far worse were the bodies further in, for they were not of the Guard, they were civilians, youngsters from the age of twelve covered the far end of the room. Everyone who saw the blood of these innocent people felt there heart strings being pulled violently, these people weren't fighters and yet the Federation had them stand together at the back of a room to be gunned down like they were criminals.

James soon turned to a different mood one of anger and truth, for now was not the time for smile and the past it was time to look to the future. Looking at his friends he stated “can I ask you guys for help?” he said They all nodded proudly they would help him do what must be done “Call the leaders of the rebellions and ask them to come here to a meeting that will change the future of the Galaxy” they nodded and from their packs began to set up bits and pieces of equipment, Shay set up a makeshift communicator and began to send out message. But James was not done he looked to the door and saw something he did not expect an old friend “lads let me introduce Seraphina Sen of clan sen” they all turned to the door and saw a Maric woman wearing tattered clothing and light armor with small metal plates across her chest and small pieces on her for arms. Her hair was dark black and eyes blood red like most Maras, he skin was much tanned but she just stood there. She slowly bowed her head to her king “I met Seraphina during the days with the resistance her clan are called the guardians of the mountains they live in the mountains and are experts in living in them” he paused and began to make his way to her “Seraphina neds tou het Lalic, ring het rhode” To you and me “Send out the call, bring the horde”

James had officially called forth the Maric horde to come to the ancient fortress. They would spread the word of how the federation slaughtered innocent men, women and children to wipe out any who would challenge their authority. They will Avenge the Guard and those whom were murdered so the federal councilors could keep their "Corrupted power".
But the meeting that was to come was something the world had never seen, for the first time former enemies were about to come face to face and not fight.

Chapter 11: A Meeting and Declaration

James had sent out the call, from across the galaxy, leaders of the different rebellions began to receive messages, from the leader of the Mara peoples of Eva's Paradise, how he was requesting them to come to the last stronghold for an important gathering..
A gathering that would change the future of the federation James called it, the time had come for the many scattered rebellions to unite into a revolution.
Not a single one refused to heed the call.

And within the great throne room of the last stronghold there they all were, each faction held a small section of the great hall none seemed to be speaking to another, they kept to themselves as if it was not a meeting of possible allies but of former enemies. And for some that was understandable, From the Durk came several former military commanders and soldiers whom had fought on Scaleon, Komodo among them trying to get them to agree for the need for alliances, From the Free Felis Movement a few former leaders of the Felis Resistance,

From the Rebel Faction of the Liberators was Captain Avery Filch and some of his fellow officers, they needed little persuading to come after all they and other had broken away from the liberators to follow the same ideals that James did. even Turac had come wearing their tightly sealed environmental suits, yet for obvious reasons James insisted that Medics and doctors be close to them during the meeting just in case and they seemed to welcome it.
A few members of the rebellion amongst the Coran, the shark like race had come, but like the Turac had to wear their special suits so they could breath. Yet there were some from outside the federation, James had managed to convince a long time rebel to come and join the fight, the leader of the Guardant Broken swords rebellion Brek Severe, he had his fighters kept their eyes of all groups around them after all not so long ago they had been fighting each other.

But James had concerns for two specific races that had a history of mistrust and anger towards the Guardant. The Anubian a tall race of being with dark black skin, resembling the Ancient Egyptian god of Anubis, hence the name, they were a proud warrior race that liked to fight their enemies in close quarter combat, they had deep hatred to the Guardant, as did their close and only allies the Raan.
A race of human-eagle hybrid, their bodies were more along the lines of a humans but the head was more an eagle or falcons, from their shoulder blades were a set of large wings each wing almost two to three metres long. Unlike the Anubian they preferred to fight like the Felis, using arc bows and their large wings to swoop in from the clouds and catch their enemy by surprise and then vanishing into the air.

These two races despised the Guardant because of what the empire had done to their home worlds, during the great uprising of the Egypta solar system, where during the first Guardant-federal war the two races rose up in rebellion and ousted the empire from their worlds, but once the war ended the empire returned and burned their worlds to tinder from orbit. The Raan lost many of their mountain top cities and the Anubian lost millions of their people.
Yet it was up to James to try and unite these desperate factions so that they could forge something and then fight the real enemy.
James stood tall and stated "Let the meeting commence" he lowered his hand to the table and retook his seat at the head, upon the massive table were drinks, cups and empty plates, for the food that was to come. But in front of James there wasn’t anything of the sought, the only objects around him were a large roll of paper and a simple sand Hourglass.

Slowly the factions took their places, each keeping together and with space between them.
James started the discussion with something rather plain "I refuse to sugar coat this" he paused as they all looked to him " we are at war and civil war" he paused once again almost wanting to laugh at the situation.

"You think this is funny" A proud Brek Severe stated slamming his fist to the table
"Oh no" James continued to chuckle "It’s not funny because....." His attitude changed and his voice darkened "WE HAVE FORGOTTEN WHO THE REAL ENEMY IS!!!!!" He shouted, his face was that of pure rage, he was pissed at those in front of him, he understood what it was they were fighting for but they might be the reason for the galaxy losing the war.

The faces of those at the table began to realize the extent of his anger and they understood to full extent of the pain he was showing. Only Komodo and Lionel were truly aware of the reason for his rage, his love and his daughter were being held captive in the Colonial capital.
On the table based hour glass, James picked it up with his right hand, and looked at it with deep concern, slowly placing it down, without moving a single grain of sand, he looked to those at the table.

"We need to put aside our differences.... work together and build something for ourselves" He stated
"We shall not fight with Guardant murders" An Anubian shouted showing off his great pale canines, and his long ears pulled back, to show his anger.

The Guardant held firm, but one or two had reached for their weapons without standing, James was the one to break the tension, and began to amend his previous statement "And what happens when the Invaders are on your doorstep? WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEY SEND THEIR MONSTROSITY TO BURN OUR WORLDS TO PILES OF ASH?"

They all could hear every word of truth in his voice, they knew he was telling the truth and they all slowly released their hold of their small arms. James took a deep breath and let his anger release and drift away, feeling calm once more has once again looked to the Hour glass this time with his left. He stood tall and next to the hour glass he picked up the roll of paper and stated "This document is a declaration, a declaration of Independence, our independence" They all couldn't believe what he was saying and began to chatter amongst themselves, they understood uniting but declaring their independence that was a big step.

Yet James was not done speaking "We declare ourselves independent of the Guardant empire and the United Federation of Systems.... we could forge a government of the people, by the people and for the people"

Slowly some began to nod their heads, they were agreeing that they couldn't change the federation but together they could build something for the people they were fighting for. James held the document up and stated "If you are willing to join the revolutionary movement for the freedom of the United Systems Alliance, then make you mark"

James unrolled the paper on the table a Maric warrior brought forward an ink well, a simple feather quill, a candle and a piece of red wax, James took the quill signed his name and with the wax he burned it ever so slightly allowed a few drops onto the paper, and with the Maric Royal Ring seal of the song bird with a serpent in its claws pressed his finger upon the wax, leaving the emblem embedded.

He took a step back and offered his hand, to the document, to whom ever would sign, Lionel, Komodo, Rebecca Shay and Captain Filch were the first to step up, they proudly signed their names to the document, soon all the Felis and Durk were standing up and joining the queue to sign, then the Turac, the Coran, then Anubian and Raan and finally the Guardant rose up and Place their swords upon the table an act that shows that they are willing to fight. They then joined the queue.

Once all had signed James took hold of the hour glass once more but now he had his hand upside down, "The Invaders have chosen that the story of our freedom must come to an end" he turned to the now revolutionary leaders “So it falls to us to ensure that the final chapter"

He twisted the hour glass and slammed back onto the table with a tremendous thud, “Is a Memorable one" He proudly stated, the revolutionary leaders stood around him with the same pride James had, this was no longer a civil war it was a revolutionary war, so that they could end the fight with the federation and turn to their true enemies. That document was later copied and sent to the Federation, yet they called it an act of treason and a Declaration of Civil war.

The words were powerful and clear

In the course of history, it is proper for laws to be implemented to protect the rights and liberties of all peoples, to secure and protect these rights; governments are established, given their power and acting upon the consent of the governed.  And should any government, misuse the power they hold, and become destructive of the rights they are sworn to protect, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish such injustice.

We hold certain truths to be self-evident, that all are born free and equal, in this Galaxy and in all Galaxies of our Universe. Such rights and truths are endowed by our ancestors and are from this moment unalienable, Liberty, equality, freedom of speech, most importantly the right for us to choose our own futures, without fear of repercussions, in a society built for those who could truly be free.
We therefore, the representatives of the United Systems Alliance, do with the Authority of the People of these worlds. Publish and Declare, that these United Colonies are and right ought to be a free and independent state. That they are absolved of all Allegiance to the Federal Council and Guardant Crown, and that any and all political, economic and military ties between them and the United Federation of Systems and Guardant Empire are as of this moment totally dissolved.
In support of this declaration, with the support of each other and the people, we do hereby swear to mutually pledge to give our lives, for the cause that is freedom, so that these worlds might be able to build a society where all can truly be Free.

James Luck, Lionel Kirsch, Komodo Gaul,
Rebecca shay, Avery Filch, Cana treo,
Cor Ale, Khan Sal, Rail Falco,
Brek Severe,

And many more signed it, but it was these individuals who would go on to be called the founders.
This declaration changed everything, copies were sent to every planet that had signed it, thousands, hundreds of thousands, millions even billions cheered when it was publicly read out in front of them. For the Federation it was a game changer, for it was easy to hide a simple collection of small rebellions, for they can be blamed on Collaborators and invaders, but a full on Declaration of Independence was something that no one could cover up. And it would begin on Eva’s Paradise, for the combined fleets and armies not of the Rebellion but of the Alliance was coming to start the revolutionary war.

Chapter 12: The Blind Master

Days after the Announcement to the galaxy the Maric horde had gathered, the only problem was that the Last Stronghold was just too small to house over two-three million Maric fighters. And that number was still growing with everyday more and more clans were coming to the fight, answering the call of their king, wanting to retake the planet with their colonial brethren across the mountains.
But standing atop the battlements James watched as every second welcomed Maric fighters, riding their mighty Kalgrim beasts. Covering the mountains passes in all directions, were Millions of Fabric tents and Smokey fires, it was a true amazement that so many had answered the call, even though he had failed what he had promised, their freedom.

Suddenly a strange feeling came over him, a presence. Someone was watching him, he could hear the struggle to breath, and he could instantly tell that this person was either old or sick. He turned slowly and saw something he did not expect, the person watching him was definitely a Mara from the way he dressed, old tattered and ripped layers of clothing. The figure was standing awkwardly slightly leaning to one side of his hip, his face was hidden though, under a white pale hood and a collection of white cloth around his eyes, James understood straight away that he was blind. In the left hand of the figure was a long wooden staff, or walking stick, the staff was nothing special it was just simply a wooden branch from the looks of it.

“Can I help you old man?” he asked extending his hand

The figure did not move but did speak in almost perfect English “no…. but I can help you” he said peacefully “I can help you to control the rage, James luck” James was frozen how did he know who he was, slowly the figure began to walk up to him and extended his right hand, James didn’t know what to do as this unknown figure began to touch and feel his face.

James just stood there as the man felt his face and began to speak specific words that James knew he was holding onto “Pain…… Anger…….. Vengeance….... Uncertainty……… Division” the figure spoke “I will help you to remove these from your heart”.

As the figure turned and began to walk away James just stood there while the old blind man slowly walked away along the battlements. “Wait….. Who are you?” he finally asked

The figure turned and “looked” directly at him, “you know of me James Luck…. They call the Blind Master”.

James knew exactly who he was the Blind master was quite frankly the oldest Mara in history, legends speak of him being alive when Eva the ancient Goddess came to the Maras. And that was over 8,000 years ago. As well as this the blind master is a teacher, he gives to those who are worthy or needy the teachings of the Ethereal. In Human terms it is very similar to the Hindi belief of Chakras and pools of energy.

James followed, trying to catch up “How did you do that by the way?” he asked,

The Blind master just kept walking “When you have done what I have for thousands of years….. You learn what is within with just a simple touch”

James paused and thought about his words, was he really that mystical. He didn’t think too much on it after all he had seen a hell of a lot in his life. But the master was not done “If you are to fight this war and lead the Horde, you must learn and find balance….. The training begins tonight”.

Chapter 13: the Balance of Energy

Before anything the blind master concocted something strong and foul tasting, claiming it was to help James face what is within. James drank it and it tasted as bad as it smelled, James almost threw it back up from the taste alone, but as it made its way down his throat it felt even worse. Successfully taking down and keeping it down, the blind master smiled and showed the way to the first trial.

That night deep within bowls of the many caverns that dotted around the fortress James sat cross legged across from the Blind master, wearing only a pair of shorts at the behest of the master, he wore no shoes or, shirt, nothing to hide who he was. The Scars, the Machinery that was his body, everything including his heart and soul.

“Now before we start, you must be warned, opening the pools of energy is very intense, and you cannot stop until all are open to flow, and should you succeed you will be able to control you emotions and their effects on your body” the master stated sitting just like James cross legged and peaceful, still wearing his white hood, and blind fold.

James nodded and prepared himself “First we shall look into the Chakra as you humans would call it, of the Earth” the blind master stated “This pool of energy focuses on the will to survive, you hold in your soul, however it can be blocked by fear, now close your eyes” James did so and closed them tight, preparing for what he might have to face.
“Look into yourself and see what it is you are afraid of” The blind master stated

James looked deep into himself, and he now understood why he had to drink the crap tasted drink, it was like a hallucinogen, he could see what he feared, he saw the invader ship that could destroy planets, and had to watch as they destroyed all the planets he had been too, Scaleon, Felix, his home planet of Eva’s Paradise. Then he looked down and saw everyone he ever knew lying there on the floor dead, Komodo, Arakhall, Lionel, Abbie, Crimson, surrounded by thousands of other warriors and soldier from dozens of races. He couldn’t take it and began to pull away.

“James…..what you are seeing is not real…… you fear for your survival and that of others…let that fear flow away” an echo came James knew it was the blind master, and slowly he did so, he released his fear and saw things changed, it was as if time was going backwards, planets went from flames to beauty, the bodies in front of him began to recede. Finally free of his fear his vision returned, and there he was sat in front of the blind master in a cave. The master just smiled at him, with the knowledge that James was successful.

The next morning they sat once again cross legged this time by a large river flowing through the mountains, the sound of rushing water, was somewhat soothing, James liked it, it was a difference to the silence of the wind whistling through the mountains.

The blind master began to speak “Now we look to the energy held within water, this energy is around Pleasure and is held back by Guilt…. Look into yourself and see the guilt that burdens you”

James did so, closing his eyes, no longer afraid of what he might see, he began to see what he blamed himself for what he felt guilty of from his entire life. “I ran away from the Liberators, from the war” He saw himself flying away in a ship away from the liberator fleet “ I killed all of those people” Seeing the bodies of those who died because he left the fight with the real enemy.

“You must except that things happen for a reason” The blind master said “For if you are to change this land for the better, then you must learn to forgive, yourself most of all” James took a deep breath and allowed his guilt to “Flow” away.

The next morning James found himself sitting beside the master this time, on a wide path leading up the mountain “Now we look to the energy of Fire and the Sun…… the energy of the fire is that of willpower and is easily blocked by what can be called shame” the master stated as the slow sun began to rise from the south.

James looked into his soul with the help of the disgusting drink the master kept giving him “What is it you are ashamed of” the master stated.

James saw himself in the blood rage, killing so many people in the prison he was kept in, killing his friend Charles Rails, whom had saved his life once before. “I will never call on the blood rage again I just can’t” James stated

“You cannot deny this part of your life, you are a hybrid and therefore you are more Maric than Human”. The master guided, James took a strong deep breath and allowed the shame to melt away.
By that afternoon they were onto the next energy, this time they were atop one of the towers of the last stronghold “Now we look into the heart, the energy here is focused around love and blocked by grief, place all the grief you have in front of you”

James did so and saw himself sitting in a field of clouds, with everyone whom he has lost in front of him, his mother and father, all the friends that he lost in the war, and even his sister for he knew one way or another he was going to lose her too.

He smiled for a second seeing his parents again as if nothing had ever happened, as if they had never died. But then they and all the others became little more than puffs of smoke, as the smoke went up into the sky James reached out, he didn’t want to lose them again.

He could hear the words of the master echoing through his soul “You have indeed felt a great loss…. But love can be the most powerful form of energy and it surrounds…. The love your parents had for you has never left….. it is still within your heart” Slowly the puffs of smoke began to fuse into something very big “And is renewed into something new” the smoke cloud soon began to take the shape of a figure, it was Crim, and in her arms was a baby, James was seeing what might be his future he was father, and the master was right, the love he had for his family is now with Crim and the child he is to meet someday.

Opening his eyes he could feel tears slowly flow down his cheeks, yet he wasn’t sad. No he was happy for the first time in his life he didn’t hold in his heart loss and grief that he has carried all his life. He leaned forward placing his elbows onto his knees and asked, “Can I have some more of that Drink please?” the blind master smiled ever so slightly and nodded his head.

“Now we looked into sound, it is focused on truth and is blocked by lies, most especially the ones we tell ourselves” the master explained

James once again closed his eyes and looked into his past, he saw his first conversation with Crim, when he explained he was the Prince of the Mara peoples, of how he had lied to others and to himself for not wanting to be the Prince and later a king and said “I never wanted to be king”.
The master began to explain James path to find balance in his truths, “you cannot lie about whom you are….. You must accept that you are a king and that it is you they want to follow”

James inhaled deeply this time behind his loss of those he had loved this was something difficult, slowly exhaling he saw in his mind an image of himself riding a Kalgrim leading the great Maric Horde numbering in the millions.

Opening his eyes he fully accepted who he was and that he was the king, and it was his duty and his responsibility to truly lead and protect the people.

The following morning, they once again sat on the mountain side cross legged on the path watching the sun slowly rise, “now we look to the light, this energy is set on insight and can ever so easily be blocked by illusion” James looked to the sun and saw something beautiful a sun slowly rising above the mountains only blocked by the odd cloud in the sky, the horizon was orange and red as the slow sun rose higher and higher.

But the master was not done explaining, James closed his eyes and allowed the hallucinogen, do its work. “The greatest illusion of our universe is the illusion of Division and separation, things that you might think are different are actually one and the same”

James realized what he meant “the different races!” he began to understand that everyone and everything was the same in some form or another.

“Yes, we all bear the energy of the universe and to it we are the same but we live as if divided” The master explained.

“We are all connected.... we are one.... and as one we can do the impossible” James stated, and the master nodded in response and congratulated James by patting him on the back.
The master was happy with his progress, although he could not see with his eyes, he could see how much the young king had changed, no longer was he torn between his emotions, he was free to act as he wished, never having to fear the Maric blood rage.

The following morning, the Maric Horde was all prepared for a long march, the endless droves of warriors riding their Kalgrims stretched as far as the eye could see. James at its head riding one of his own, once more he wore the Armour of the Maras, this time bearing the song bird gripping the snake emblem on his chest.

Yet he did not know where to go, he just sat there on his ride contemplating his next move, that is until the blind master ventured out from the fortress with a piece of rolled paper, slowly pulling his hand up to give it to his King the master spoke "Your Fathers brother has gathered his warriors and has retaken the fort of Barahear, they are currently besieged by a Militia not of this world, one loyal to the Federation"

James took the paper, unrolled it and saw a map, two days ride to the fort, and then most likely a hard fight if not done properly. Looking back to the blind master he bowed his head.

James smiled, but his smile soon returned to realization, a hard fight was ahead. He turned to his friends, Komodo, Lionel, Nick Skuller, Rebecca all of them nodded to their friend and leader. James just returned his gaze to the blind master and said "Goodbye, Master"

The master returned a bow and stated proudly "Goodbye... everyone..... On this day...... our freedom begins.... I know it"

James raised his left hand high and thrust it forwards, as he did he shook the reins of his ride and it shot forwards with great speed, and the endless horde followed cheering for their king, they were proud to be led by a king once more.

Chapter 14: The Uncle Besieged

Abbie was just sat alone, sitting on one of the many seats within the solid metal command center, just watching the last nine months of work, searching for her baby brother being removed from command. After all she had found him, he was with the rebels now, and she now had new orders from high command.

Then a Friend sat beside her and brought her back to the land of reality. “Hey Abbs” He said “You alright”

Abbie turned and saw her friend Alexandro “Alex” Tomas, now a Captain in the Federal Peacekeeping forces on Eva’s Paradise. “Ye….. Yeah” She stuttered “I just needed some time to think”

Alex didn’t think she was Okay, and remained to find out, “Abbie….. You don’t have to hide it, I can tell that you’re not yourself”

Abbie chuckled under her breath, he knew her so well, and he was right, she was nowhere near okay, she was a mess. For she knew that her task was now becoming ever more Destructive. “I just have come to realize that….. I might have to kill my brother or the other way round” She stated, forming tears in her eyes and having to sniff to keep her nose from running. “And I know that either way…. One of us will be destroyed again…. I died once and you told me he lost it…. I lost him and it nearly killed me” she paused as she entered a moment of understanding “And if we have the woman he loves…” once again she paused and looked back up to empty command centre “A normal human can do incredible things to save the one they love….. A Mara can do even greater things in a blood rage” She looked over to Alex who was slowly understanding what she was saying “Imagine what a Hybrid could do”

She stood up and stood tall, she was having to leave “I have been given new orders….. It seems my Uncle, has taken a fort outside the Maric borders…. I have been ordered to retake the fort, peacefully or by force”
She marched off away from her friend who just remained sat in his seat.
Abbie gathered her unit and within minutes was in the air heading to the fort.

Inside she began to speak to her unit “Alright listen up” they all turned to her “the Fort we are going to…. Is currently controlled by Tosak Val leader of the Maric Valhal clan…sending info your way now” They all began looking to their left forearm bracers, and access the small screens on them seeing all the information that they might require “Now the fort is currently under siege by the 13th Federal Militia, these guys are from Kayna, so they don’t know the environment, our job is to convince Tosak to surrender or to retake the fort by force”

Federal Intelligence File:
Name: Tosak Val
Race: Mara
Clan: Valhal
Family:
Brother: Torrelik Val- High king- Deceased
Nephew: James Luck: High king- wanted
Niece: Abigail Luck: Commander- Alive
Information: Lead resistance forces during invader occupation, lead a large force against the collaborators, after Federal peacekeeping troops arrived, retreated with Maras beyond their borders.
Gathered a strong force of warriors and retook the Maric fort of Barahear, currently under siege by loyalist Militia from Kanya.

They all nodded “Now this means that we might have to fight a Mara that has never been defeated in open battle, the fort he is in is the same one he was born in…. and it is likely that he might have to die in it…..and the Maras with him would likely fight to the death” she gathered her thoughts before continuing “this might mean we may commit a massacre…. Can you live with that?”

They all looked to her and in Unison shouted “YES SIR!!”

Abbie returned by giving certain hand signal, ordering them to make ready for landing, but then from the cockpit of the transport “Sir…. You’re uh you’re gonna wanna see this”

Abbie made her way to the cockpit and out of the window, she did not just see the fort and the Militia camp in front of it, but she something wrong, there was no one in the camp. But the fort covered all else, its sheer size was nowhere near what she considered a fort, it was more like a fortress, massive walls thicker than even the massive boulders scattered around it. Towers as tall as hills pointing to the sky and the sun. Flying above the single reinforced Iron Gate was a flag, black with a white skull pieced by a downward facing sword.

The transport came down and let them off, Abbie gave signals for them to search the camp, it was “Strange” she thought. There was no one, not a soul, the entire militia camp was empty. Everyday items were still present, stools, fire pits, tents everything was still there, but Abbie noticed one other thing that wasn’t present. Not only were there no Militia, there were no weapons either.

Suddenly a shout from one of her unit “Commander” she ran over to him, he was standing at the top of a small mound on the opposite side of the camp from the Fort, the soldier was standing absolutely still, all he did was raise his right hand and point his index finger out wards away from the camp.
Abbie came up the mound of earth and at the top she saw what had made the soldier so scared. He had found the militia, all 2,000 fighters scattered around the other side of the mound, and all of them were lying still with dried blood covering the sand, dirt and rocks around them.

Abbie couldn’t believe it but she knew what they had to do “Search for survivors” she ordered, slowly the whole unit made their way over the mound, each taking cautious or fearful steps as they checked the bodies, none of them had ever seen anything like this there were only militia bodies, no rebels or anyone.

Abbie came to standing by one of her fighters “I don’t understand who and how did they do this”
Then an answer “Commander… this helmet has a recording visor system, and it recorded what happened” the whole unit came running over as a technician in the unit set up a computer for them to watch it on.

AS they gathered round they began to watch something they truly made them ever so afraid, the recording started rather simple the militia just sat around their fires, joking and eating their rations. Abbie didn’t think much of it, she just thought that the recording was worthless.

But then everything changed, the recording showed them running from the camp with the sound of loud rumbling coming from something out of view, over the mound they ran and then being slaughtered one by one by people riding large animals, cutting them to shreds.
Then the solider wearing the helmet was grabbed from behind, they couldn’t see who it was, the soldier was moving his head back and forth to quickly to make out a clear face.

The helmet was removed from his head and in front of him from the darkness came a set of glowing eyes and then a Kalgrim snarling and growling, showing its immense sabre teeth. The Last straw keeping Abbie glued to what they were watching then came, the soldier was kicked forward and the helmet remained glued looking forward as the Kalgrim ripped the soldier to shreds. Abbie looked away, she couldn’t take watching it.

She turned away and wanted to walk off, but one of her unit stopped her “Commander there’s more”
She returned to watching as the helmet was turned towards the one holding it, Abbie couldn’t believe it, the man leading the attack was her own brother James. “Give the Alliance is Independence…. Or we will all die from failing to fight the real enemy” the recording ended with these words and Abbie couldn’t believe it.

Eva’s Paradise was now properly in the middle of a civil war.
Hidden away miles from the fort the great Maric horde was encamped, the millions of warriors were beginning to celebrate their first victory, cheers and roars could be heard from all over the camp, as they drank liquor and ate cooked food to celebrate.

But one man did not want to celebrate, James came from the war tent and the warriors around it cheered for their king, James raised his hand and they calmed “ONE VICTORY…. DOES NOT MEAN WE HAVE WON…… HAVE WE FREED OUR WORLD….. HAVE WE ACHIEVED THE ALLIANCES INDEPENDENCE….” He shouted, the warriors knew he was right and began to look away in disgrace, they were celebrating like they had won a war, but they hadn’t, yet James knew that deserve some time “BUT….. WE ARE NOT DONE YET” they returned their gaze to their king, “TONIGHT…. WE CELEBRATE THE LIBERATION OF BARAHEAR….” They cheered and roared “BUT TOMORROW WE MARCH WEST TO LIBERATE….. OUR WORLD!” they once more cheered and roared even louder, those were the words they wanted to hear.

“SO DRINK AND EAT FOR YOU’LL NEED IT FOR THE RIDE TOMORROW” James finished, turning back to his makeshift war room or in this case a war Tent. Behind him all he could hear was the cheers and roars of the Horde returning to the celebration of their victory.

In the War tent things were different, Friends like Komodo, Lionel, Rebecca had gather with commanders and leading Clan leaders to formalize their next move. The inside was very organized, the leaders gathered around a single table within the center of the large central space, James approached an elderly Mara leader, wearing Dark black armor bearing a White skull pieced by a downward facing sword, the man’s hair was darkening grey, showing that he was getting old, on his face was a short grey beard. His eyes were dark brown and his voice was very grouchy and groggy.

“Nephew” the man said as he and James embraced

“Been too long Uncle” James replied releasing hold on his uncle Tosak, his father’s younger twin brother and leader of clan Valhal.

They returned their attention to the table where a Holo map of the colony was displayed along the wood of the table. The map showed everything, the many insurgent groups that Rebecca had contact with, as well as the defences of the colony, where the Federation Droid units were, and the marker showing where they were.

James looked upon the map and came up with a strategy using different hand signals as he did “This I the plan I have, we split into three groups, one moves north and then will swing in on the Capital city, after meeting and gathering the scattered rebel groups” They all nodded, “Komodo, you, Clan Alter, Mesa, Naro and Lenrum will lead this army” they all nodded in agreement

James then returned to the next part “the second group will head south and then swing in from below after doing the same, gathering Insurgents and rebels” James paused looking upon the leaders, “Lionel, you alongside Clans Kara, Fina, Towka and Mowla will lead this army”.
Lionel Nodded “Roger that” he said

And finally “I will lead the main body of the Horde, directly at the Capital, Hopefully, they will us most of their Droids on us” They all nodded as they understood a three prong attack spreading their forces out.

The clan leaders nodded in approval of the plan and made their way out of the tent, But James prevented one person from, leaving his uncle Tosak “not you Uncle, Can I trust you do something”
His uncle turned to him with a frustrated face shown “I was there, when you were born, I was there when your mother died, I was there when you had to put your father on a funeral pyre” He took a powerful step forward “And you’re asking if you can trust me”

James smiled “Good… because I have a secret plan that only one other person other than me can know” He returned to the Map and began to show his plan one his uncle agreed too.
Before he could leave though James had a question “Did you and Dad ever find peace”
“What you mean the lifelong argument that we had?” Tosak asked, James just nodded “Yeah… we made peace with each other…. It was on the night your mother died….. he said that he was grateful to me coming to protect his family” he ended these words with a smile on his face the first time James had ever truly seen his Uncle smile, but it can be argued that he hardly ever saw his uncle. But his uncle was not done.

"Now you've heard that..... I want to make something very clear" His voice was turning, much more grouchier and with a small hint of emotion, possibly even, sadness and fear. "I won't bury either you.... or Abigail...." James looked to him with fear and confusion "I've buried enough, members of our family..."

Chapter 15: A Sisters Fear

Abbie was now even more divided, she could not betray the Federation after all she was a loyalist, but at the same time she could not bring herself to fight her own brother and in the worst-case scenario, even kill him.

One night her pain and fear got the best of her, she packed a bag and began to walk through the city of Nouvelle Paradise towards the space port, she couldn’t do it anymore, this was her home and she would sooner die than kill it.

As she walked the quiet streets of the metal city, concrete under her feet, it felt eary, almost the entire city was empty excluding the Federal droids patrolling the city streets, there were no locals walking or going anywhere.

She just continued to walk until she saw a light coming from a window, she couldn’t help herself she had to peak through. As she did, she wasn’t surprised from what she saw, it was a group of people gathered around a kitchen table with a map upon it, a map she recognize it was the map of the Thermo Power station on the other side of the city built over the top of a large river, the Station was basically kind of like a Dam to keep the power cells cool.

She couldn’t hear anything, she hated soundproof windows sometimes, but from what she could see, she understood that she was watching the planning of an attack. These men and women were going to attack the Power station but to what end.

Then her attention was pulled away, as she herself was grabbed from behind, a droid patrol had grabbed her, she resisted at first, but it was very hard for people to fight of droids with their bare hands. Before she knew it they had her handcuffed and were pulling her back to the Federal compound.

The rest of the night she spent in a secure room under the permanent guard of two Federal droids. It wasn’t until next morning was she permitted to leave the room, but it didn’t mean she was free, she was escorted to a large courtroom.

The room was huge, wooden columns held up the high roof, large open glass windows allowed pours of light in from the outside, the defendant section of the room was circular, lower than the actual judges, who sat along a crescent table in front of a single chair in the defendant section.

Sitting along the table were seven officials, all but one were of the Federation military or intelligence Bureau. The seventh man was an older man bearing the liberator symbol on his shoulder patch.
But Abbie could only recognize a single person, it was Alex, Alexandro Tomas, her lifelong friend sitting in as one of the judges.

The droids forced her into the chair, took a step back and then held firm grasping their rifles hard.
“Abigail Luck… you are charged with…. Desertion of Duty during a time of war…. And disobeying direct command from your Superiors that lead to the Death of over two thousand loyal militia” one of the judges stated “How do you plead”

Abbie just sat there not saying a word, she remembered her training, give no information no matter what happens to you. The judges grew impatient they wanted an answer “How do you plead” another asked, but yet again they got no answer.

Only one person was willing to talk to her like she was a human being, her friend Alex “Abbie…. Please” he asked “Why are you wanting to run?” He paused for a moment as Abbie turned to him and looked him dead in the eye, “James?” he clearly asked.

Abbie gave the ever so slightest of nods to her friend, the judges began almost immediately to talk amongst themselves from finally getting a response. “Why are wanting to run from him?” the Liberator asked.

Abbie looked to her feet before answering the question, she turned back up and look them all in the eye “No matter what he has become” she paused breaking eye contact with the judges “he is my little brother…. And I don’t want him to face any more pain…. He has suffered enough”
The judges instantly convened in almost silent chatter, Abbie could only hear one simple sentence from her only friend “He lost her once….. Losing her again would destroy him”
A sudden silence came when the liberator asked a single simple question “What do you know of your brother’s rebellion”

Abbie looked at them all and stated something that truly scared them, “I wish you luck in the battle to come….. For you should be as afraid of what he is capable of as I am”.

Chapter 16: The Message

Despite the world falling into civil war the people of the city of Nouvelle (New) Paradise went about their daily lives, trying to ignore the constant harassment of the Federal troops and Droids.
In one busy street, a great mega screen was held up high, usually only displaying propaganda casting the Federations blunders elsewhere in a more favorable light, such as calling Rebel attacks "TERRORIST, COLLABORATOR, TRAITOROUS" when they were anything but such.
When suddenly the screen went blank, people wondered what was going on, was there a technical difficulty in the everyday trash they had to listen too. Was there about to be a emergency report. But there answer came soon.

When James Luck appeared live on the Mega Screen and on every single Visual display in the city. Sitting behind a simple wooden desk, and a Maric Banner behind him, a song bird with the snake in its claws. Wearing his resistance garments, dark black but not as tattered as his previous clothing, the way he spoke was clear, but definitely proud, virulent, strong and strangely of a British stereotype.
"Good day, people of Eva's Paradise

You have no doubt you have heard about my Escape from the Federations imprisonment, and unlikely how we have started a revolution.

Like you, I do avoid forms of security, and I understand how you would rather, keep your heads down and avoid contact with those whom would prefer to beat down upon you for minor infractions.
So I was rather wondering if we could sit down and have ourselves a little chat.

Of course there are those peoples who would rather we keep our mouths shut, and just simply follow every corrupt law and listen too every power hungry order.

So why should we speak.... the answer is very simple, whilst weapons of a physical nature are powerful...... the greatest weapon we have in our lives are the words we speak.... and those words shall never lose their power...... they shall never forever hide the truth.....

and the truth is Some of us have forgotten why we are fighting the war with the Invaders.
Some would say its for survival, others for the sake of our way of life.... this has given way to fear of losing power....

and this fear has lead to cruelty and injustice upon the innocent......

Before we had the freedom to choose and the freedom to have our words heard freely and fairly..... but now we have censors and systems of surveillance coercing us to conform to a doctrine where freedom and liberty is forgotten, where those in power can banquet whilst innocents have only a loaf of bread.... where the people rarely have electricity and running water....

A few nights ago we the free, have begun the fight.... to return freedom and equality to our lives.
We the founders of the United Systems Alliance, declared our independence and that of our worlds and peoples from the Federation and the Guardant empire.

Where we shall build a system of governing to care for the people, to lead them to a better future.....
Centuries ago my ancestor.... A great man..... founded an organization to safe guard the freedoms and liberties of all peoples.... no matter the culture or race....

He wanted the world he lived within to remember that freedom and liberty are more that just simple words.... Oh NO

They are more that just words..... they are causes..... causes worth fighting for..... worth living for.....
so if you see nothing, if the injustice of the Federation and Empire remain invisible to you.... then stand aside and let us pass....

But if you feel as we do.... and if you would seek a future as I have...." The banner behind him suddenly dropped, revealing an entire army of Maras, Humans and countless other races from across the Galaxy standing together as one.

"Then stand alongside us..... two nights from now..... and together we shall give them a message that shall never ever be forgotten" these words he spoke with more vigor and strength to ensure that the message had sunk in with all watching.  the video ended with the red defiant fist on a golden star.
And it had, for across the city, the people began to look at the Droids patrolling their streets very differently. Slowly people started coming out of their houses with weapons, clubs, bats, mining tools, farming tools, kitchen appliances anything they could use. And started to almost like a wave across the city attack and destroy the Federations droid battalions.

At the Federal Head Quarters Alexandro Tomas was struggling to cope, for the floor he was on was busserling with activity, reports were coming of violence, federal troops were requesting orders. Droid units were being attacked and destroyed, Alexandro could only mutter one sentence "We're under siege".

Soon a message though came through from command "Should any persons approach the Federal building they are to be shot and killed whether they are armed or not"
Alexandro finally realized that it was no longer a rebellion, this was a revolution.... and the question pushing through his mind and that of everyone in the loyalist federal militia was "Whose side am I on?"

Chapter 17: The March

The city was quiet, too quiet. no more than a few days ago the city was destroying itself driving closer and closer to Anarchy. Yet now the streets were empty not a soul any where. all that remained were the wrecked remnants of the hundreds of droids that were once patrolling the city, on every single road, street and alleyway there were wrecked droids.

The only people on the street, were the three hundred Federal militiamen from across the planet, standing behind simple concrete barricades, rifles ready and loaded. they were merely awaiting orders. They stood in the gateway to the Military district, its high walls covering their left and right, yet all that was in front of them were simple concrete barriers no higher than their hips.
There orders were simple, hold position and defend the only way into the Federal Compound here on Eva's Paradise. The Barricade they manned was barely offering protection, they stood behind simple concrete blocks, meant to help contain riots not uprisings.

When from the dark, empty city streets came a systematic sound of an almost thunder like roar. echoing out across the streets, in the cold night air, not a cloud in the sky so it was highly unlikely to be a storm. No it was the sound of millions of feet marching across the metal and concrete of the cities streets.

At the Barricade the troops readied themselves, when slowly from around a corner came the sound, a horde of millions of people, Maras and humans marching straight towards them, no organization in the way they were marching, leading them was someone they all recognized James luck, in his Royal Maric armor which he wore during the fight against the Invaders, a Red serpent and spear upon the chest plate. Lionel and Komodo next him marching too, proudly heads held high upon their shoulders, despite knowing they were walking into the jaws of hell.

As they got closer and closer the troops began to see that only James was armed, every one else were walking towards them unarmed not a single thing in their hands. The Officers were the first to act shouting orders "Make ready", "Take Aim".

As the horde of people got closer and closer the Federals were ready, ready to open fire, with every shot they had. Despite knowing they were about to commit a massacre, the lead officer shouted the order, just as the horde of people were no more than a few feet from the front line of troops "Open fire!!!". Yet nothing "Open Fire!!" still nothing not a shot was fired "Open fire!!!! GOD DAMN IT". Yet all the soldiers did was lower their weapons and allow the horde to hop over the barricades and continue their march to the federal building.

Alexandro was watching it all via the security systems, all he could say in response to what he was seeing were the words "Jesus Bloody Christ". But then his gaze turned to another screen, that of the ocean. He could see hundreds if not thousands of water bound ships approaching the city.
What to do? was the only thing running through his mind, the only thing that came was to call for help from the orbiting fleet, yet as he made contact he automatically could tell that something was wrong.

Chapter 18: the Fleets in trouble

High above the battle for the city, another battle was playing out, for as the loyalists fought the Maras and citizens of Eva's Paradise.
Their fleet was trying but failing to fight off a combined rebel fleet, consisting of Rebel Liberator ships, Durk Cruisers, Felis raiding ships, Coran shark battleships, even Raan Warbirds.

The captain of the fleet within his cruisers bridge, he was having to watch through the windows of the bridge, the fighters being chased and shot down by rebel fighters. "We need to go back and pick up reinforcements" he knew that getting help was their only hope of winning here on this planet, he continued with an obvious sentence "we've got to get out of here".

Further within the bridge an officer called him to the holo communicator. On a table was a hologram of Alexandro Tomas "Captain we need down here.... the rebels have launched a sea born attack.... we won't hold the space port.... the Militia have surrendered without firing a shot"

The admiral knew his duty to the troops on the ground, but he had a duty to the fleet and the men and women who were dying. "I am sorry captain.... but we are losing more than we can take" he paused as a second officer came and whispered something in his ear "the Siren, has lost her power systems, half of my fleet is either gone or dead in space...  I am sorry captain"

A third captain came running from the main section of the bridge "we need to leave now... three more Rebel cruisers have just arrived they bear marking of the Turac armada"

Back on earth, Tomas knew they had to go "Save you ship’s captain, go back and get reinforcements"
The fleet captain nodded and the hologram died down, their conversation had ended. Alex was now standing alone atop a tall control tower, the wind blowing from the blow away walls and windows. From one of these holes Alex could only watch as the Maric long ships ran aground and he could clearly see the thousands of Mara warriors pour of them and charge the few troops on the beaches, Alex knew he had to fall back reaching up to his right ear he clicked his comms, "To all units, the Mara rebels have landed on the beach, we cannot hold the space port fall back to the police station.... the fleet has had to retreat... we are on our own"

And without the support of the fleet, the surviving loyalists and the droids either quickly surrendered or were slaughtered by the rebels in the fighting, many hundreds died and thousands surrendered. For now the fighting was over.

back above the planet the federal fleet was fleeing for its life having to leave many of its ships that couldn't use their Sub sonic drives, they all surrendered within a second of being left behind, some even defected to the rebels, this was not the end of the fight though, the end of this civil war was to end with unity and courage.

Chapter 19: My child

For James though he had a bigger priority, for once the fight was over, he had something bigger to focus upon, he searched high and low through the federal stronghold, looking into every room of their command center for the woman he loved. Helped every step of the way by Komodo who took an explosive method to opening doors, and Lionel who preferred to find alternative means to gain entry.

And finally there, in a rather nice room with a prison like door, was her, Crimson with her short shoulder reaching hair tied back into a pony tail. Her skin being much paler than he remembered, but that was understandable being stuck in here. The room was very nice for a prison cell, wooden furniture and a soft bed in the far corner, next to it was a small metal cradle for the baby he had not seen until now.

Crim turned to look at them, James stood in the dead center of the room just staring at her. And she did the same, it was as if it had been a life time since they had seen each other, Crim felt a small tear come down her cheek, as then the two of them in a flash of a second closed the distance between them and embraced, Crim throwing her arms around his neck and holding her face by his head. Whilst he was almost holding her off the floor, his hands on her back and his chin embedded into her left shoulder. His eyes were sealed shut as he felt love again, he had almost lost her and now he had her back, and he was not letting go anytime soon.

However after a single minute that seemed an eternity they slowly released their grip on each other. They just once again stared into each others eyes, both of them feeling tears flow from their eyes.
Crim grabbed his left metal arm and began to steadily pull him towards the cradle, only really letting go so she could reach into the cradle with both hands and slowly pulling up a bundle of small cloth quilts. Holding the bundle close to her chest she turned to him, took a single step forward so she was just inches from him.

James heart both the organic and synthetic parts were beating ten to the dozens, for he was about to see the child he had with Crim. Crim slowly and carefully brought her arms forwards, just enough for James to look and see the little pale face of his baby.

The tears were soon flowing even faster than before, as Crim slowly passed the child over to him. Being extra careful James tried not to wake the little infant. He found it very hard though as both his real right hand and his metal left were shaking, as Crim released her hold on the cloth rapped around the infant, James felt the weight of his child.

After adapting, James hooked his left arm to cradle the child, and despite his efforts, the young ones eyes slowly began to open, yet there was no crying. James could now see his Daughters eyes, red just like her mothers. Slowly the infant girl brought up her own hand and James did the same with his right, yet the infant grabbed hold not of his hand but of his index finger, holding it like it was something she knew, James felt even more tears rush down his face, and sniffles within his nose.
Looking up to Crim who was just like him, he asked under the tears, "What.... What’s her name?"
Crim smiled and said "Nyssa".

Little Nyssa, James now was holding his daughter Nyssa, he was a father now, not by name but by love. He slowly pulled his index finger from Nyssa’s grip and extended his right arm around Crim, she followed suit encompassing both her child and the father.

And for what seemed like hours they just stood there holding each other.
Whilst at the door both Komodo and Lionel just watched this emotional moment happen before them, Both had the same thought within their minds "There is something that is true....that is something that can never be taken away.... Love"

Chapter 20: We Fight the Real enemy

At the Federal Capital World, the surviving loyalists ships and had finally arrived, but they found ill news that they could not believe.
"I cannot believe it" the captain said

"It’s true... the rebels offered terms of surrender for our forces on the Durk Colony of Kash, and our troops accepted" Admiral Hirohito stated
The war was changing, and the federation knew it, from losing on Eva's Paradise, dozens of planets that had signed the Declaration had risen up in rebellion. And they were losing each battle, the Federation could not hold out much longer in what was now being called Alliance space.

And to make matters worse the Invaders had regrouped and were now pushing hard on the Federations front line. Even with the Guardant Empires army and fleet they knew that they could not fight a war on two fronts, they had to focus their power and they chose wrong.
Instead of concentrating their combined forces on the invaders, oh no they chose to use their reserves on the "rebels". A choice they would soon regret.

This civil war of the Federation is getting worse, several more worlds have been lost to the combined fleets and armies of this new United Systems Alliance. It would seem that the only reason the Federal forces were winning was because the Rebels weren't unified. But since they did, it’s been nothing but victory for them.

I find the only good in this is that they offer terms of surrender to our troops which include them being given safe transit back to Federation space.
More reports have also come from the front as well with the Invaders, they have been massing their Fleet for something big, but at the moment it is unknown what it is exactly.
But we can.....
Recording interrupted

The Admiral ran from the main communication desk at the back of his flag ships bridge, towards the windows looking out into space. What he saw frightened him to the core, his first and hopeful thought was of Rebel ships but no it was far worse.

It was a large collection of Invader cruisers and destroyers, this was his worst fear, for the Combined Liberator and Federation Fleet was in no condition to form a proper defense. Refugee ships were scattered all around the fleet and those ships had no fire power or proper shields, they were sitting ducks.

The Admiral grabbed a communicator "Liberator ships, Agincourt, Paris and Moscow, protect the Refugee ships"

Through the window beyond the explosions, incoming and outgoing fire, the admiral watched as the fleet attempted to form itself into some form of a defensive line. Yet it was hopeless, all he could do was watch ships being destroyed, and had to listen to the distress calls
"This is the London... we've lost all power.... we aaaaaaahhhhhhh"

"This is the Kenya.... we are taking heavy fire, we've lost our CS thrusters, we are caught in the gravitational pull.... repeat we are going down.... do you read me...... we are going down"

And many others, from the fighters and bombers as they tried to fight off the invader fighter swarms, the screams and calls for help.

"I got two flyers on me!"

"Can't help you... got my own problems"

But most common was "I'm hit" or just plain screaming.

The Admiral placed his hand onto the long range communicator and sent out a call for help across the Galaxy "This is Admiral Hirohito of the Liberators.... we are under attack.... we cannot hold.... to any forces out there.... please send reinforcements"

For countless hours, all he could do was watch as thousands died every minute. And all he could do was watch, but then in his ear something worse "This is the Moscow.... we have taken too much damage... we are dead in space" They were last of the ships protecting the Refugees as they attempted to escape. Looking to his left through an opposite window the Admiral could only see the United Nations Cruiser the Moscow, go up in flames and the Refugee ships defenseless.

But then from almost no where a glimmer of hope, as a sailor at the Radar desk shouted over to the Admiral "Admiral.... we're picking up reinforcements entering the systems"

The Admiral woke up and ran as fast as his bones could carry him, reaching the desk he looked to the sailor and asked "Who are they..... Guardant.... Liberator?"

The sailor looked to him with amazement "Their....Rebels sir"

Looking back to the windows, The Admiral couldn't believe it.
For outside above them and the Invader fleet, the entire Alliance fleet was coming down, at its head was a ship bearing the mark of a song bird in flight with a serpent like snake in its claws.

On its bridge was one James Luck giving the commands "Fourth fleet, break off and protect the Refugees.... fifth fleet reinforce the Feds....1ST, 2ND and 3RD fleets follow me"
The different sections began to break off to their tasks, until a general order came out "ALL SHIPS OPEN FIRE!"

And they did, every single ship fired every weapon they had, and like many times before the Invaders had been overconfident, for they did not bother to raise their shield on certain parts of their ships.
As the Alliance fleet poured down the smaller Felis skirmishers and Raan War-birds were swishing past the invader cruisers. Many were either in the process of being destroyed or were scrambling to organize themselves, The Admiral soon heard a message on his radio, a voice he recognized "Admiral Hirohito... you are all clear..... Get the Refugees out of there"

The Admiral smiled and began to chuckle, turning to the many sailors whom were looking too their commanding officer, seeking orders. And they got them for the admiral soon started shouting them "YOU HEARD THE MAN...."

"GET THE REFUGEES OUT OF HERE!" he shouted.

The sailors began to run back and forth following their orders, and getting the refugees to safety.
Outside in the battle, the Alliance were still doing much damage on the Invaders, dozens of their ships were battered and bruised. To everyone’s surprise though something that was never really seen before in a major invader offensive, their ships turned away, and jumped to sub sonic speed back in the direction of the Occupied Zone. Seeing this everyone on every ship, Liberator, Guardant, Federation and Alliance all cheered as they saw the enemy turning tail and running from a United Milky Way Galaxy.

As the battle seceded and the Federal and Alliance fleets reorganized, a second standoff began, Federation on one hand and Alliance on the other. To the Federations leading Council, these people even though they had saved the day, were still rebels and traitors, yet many within their military were standing strong to the truth. And the truth was telling them that these people had saved their lives, that perhaps the Alliance should be given recognition.

Admiral Hirohito most of all, he understood that together they could win the war against the invaders. So he argued with the Federation to give the United Systems Alliance recognition as an independent Galactic Governing body.

That night the Federal Council met with the Leading Alliance Military Commanders Including one James Luck now a General, standing opposite him was his own sister, released from incarceration, and restored to her Rank of Commander.

The Federal Council boldly stated the following words,
“We are here to recognize the assistance of the Alliance, in defending this world and the Federation from the Invaders.”

“Many men and women of your fleet died to save the Federation and although we cannot bring them back, we can honor them with our actions”

“The Council has reached a decision, and for you coming to our aid, we are here to formally recognize the Independence of the United Systems Alliance, and we hope that a true alliance can be formed between our two governments”

One of the leading Generals of the Alliance stepped forward “Councillors, on behalf of the Alliance and the people, we accept this recognition and offer of an alliance” The two sides bowed and offered to shake hands, each side accepted and peace within the Federation was restored. James smiled for he now knew that the CIVIL WAR WAS OVER!

Months of chaos and conflict had badly scarred the Galaxy, and the time had come to truly focus on the real enemy. The only enemy any of them should be concerned about, the enemy that stood on the brink of destroying every world that resisted.

Chapter 21: May I introduce....

Six weeks since the end of the Civil war, on a small islet within the Earth ocean known as the Mediterranean. Sits a mansion, an old fort and a village, once a base of operations to an Organization hell bent on protecting the freedoms and liberties of people. Now it is solely the base of operations to someone desperate to bring order and structure.

Within the office of the Mansion, stood a figure looking over an collection of images being displayed by the holograms, the images were of several battles, artworks, political posters and various other images that most would not expect to find in a military commanders office. The figure covered by the shadows of the room, had his right arm crossed his chest, with his left hand by his chin where his index finger hooked around it.

"Excuse me sir" a voice whimpered, the figure waved his left hand allowing the voice to enter "The spy we captured has arrived"

The figure turned into the light, showing him to be in a dark grey pressurized suit, not an inch of his skin was showing, upon his head and face was a dark black helmet the mask itself was so dark that not even a hint of his face could be seen. His every breath echoed through the mask, suggesting his great difficulty in breathing, his voice also was altered by the mask, producing a voice that was partially deepened "Bring her in" Several humans brought someone into the center of the room, almost dragging her across the wooden floor boards, her legs dragging behind her, her head held low with her hair draped down. The mask figure could tell she had been tortured, "Well offer her a seat"
Waving his hands as he gave the order, one of the escort soldiers grabbed one of the old wooden chairs pulled across to the dead center of the room and slammed it in place. facing towards the figure

After which the two carriers pulled her up and without any care, shoved their prisoner into the chair.
"Can one of you get her something to drink..... I am sure she has need of one" the Figure ordered, an order which at first the soldiers were unsure off, at least until their officer nodded his head ever so slightly.

One left the room and came back in few seconds with a small metallic cup filled with some form of liquid, placing down by the prisoners feet. and then stepped back. "Thank you Corporal, may I have the room with the Prisoner and the captain please" All but the officer left the room closing the door behind them.

The figure moved to the prisoner so that he now stood directly in front of her, every movement he made made a metallic clang sound as his feet struck the floor. He knelt down took the cup with his left hand, and the prisoners right hand with the other. Slowly he brought the two together and helped the prisoner grip the cup "Drink.... it shall help regain some strength you have lost" the prisoner refused to move "If I was to kill you, poison would not be it.... go ahead" finally the prisoner ever so carefully, her arms shaking brought the cup to her mouth and took a very long swig of the liquid inside.

The unknown masked figure stood up again and returned to the holographic images now of things from over two years ago, when the Invaders took Earth and after "Some would think that in a time of war, torturous methods are called on to collect information, but I find such information to be unreliable.... Yet I contradict myself, because my Philosophy is that to defeat an enemy you need to know them" He paused for a second, "Not just how they fight in battle or their skills in warfare, but their peoples, art, philosophy, society, social understandings, even their Political Ideals"

The prisoner raised her head, "Some call me the greatest military leader of our empire..... I commanded the forces that took this world and hundreds of others in a matter of weeks" Masked figure told, the prisoner grew interest, "This must be the Invader Commander In Chief" she thought.

"Yet in one battle, in which I thought I had won before it began..... A ship rammed My Battleship, and a feud was born, between two survivors of that battle, both of us scarred physically and mentally from the experience" he continued his story, "He soon had a Arm, Leg and Eye of metal, whilst I would have to live my life within this pressurized suit, my body so frail that I cannot even hold my own weight without aid" He turned back to the prisoner and attempted to make eye contact, through the soaking wet hair covering her face.

"you brought me here to tell your life story?" she asked in a voice that showed how tired and hurt she was from the torture.

A small chuckle came through the mask "No.... No I am here to talk about you.... Clearly Military from how you fought our Allies Militiamen and you unwillingness to break in Interrogation..... an officer from the uniform you wear" He pointed to the officers strips upon her coats left arm.

"Captain, do you know what the badge on her right shoulder represents?" he asked, looking to the officer standing behind the her.

"No sir, I do not... but I would hazard a guess Federal Intelligence" the officer replied

"And you would be close.... no the badge is that of Unit 227 of the Office of Federal Intelligence.... an elite group of commandos who are specially trained to fight behind enemy lines, infiltrate and gain intelligence from within the enemy camp...... After which they act on such information, involving assassinations, sabotage and even insurrection" The prisoner heard these words, and grew shocked, how did he know so much about Classified information. "Do you know where they were last stationed, Captain?"

"I believe it was the same planet where I lost over 200 men, Eva's Paradise" he responded.

The masked figure nodded carefully, before returning his gaze to the prisoner, "Blood and Conflict, it is all you have ever known, you and your brother were so young when your mother was murdered before your eyes..... so young to have to look after and raise your dear, sweet little brother"

Turning away back to the holograms, he rearranged them to show his work "I study warfare, I attempt to perfect the tactics of warfare.... yet unlike you " he paused turning back to the prisoner, walking behind her and placing his head just by her left ear "I was not forged by it", standing tall again and returning to his place in front of the holograms, he began to speak again "Captain, would you say you forces are properly trained?"

Standing proudly the officer gave his response "Absolutely sir"

The prisoner chuckled "It doesn't matter how well trained you are.... A single free man defending his home fights stronger than ten soldiers"
The officer heard this and moved with anger in his stride "You dare disrespect the power of the Coalitions forces?!"

"Captain..... please you embarrass Us before our host..." The Figure stated

The captain pause wondering what he meant "Lord Magister Krell... I am afraid I do not understand"

Lord Magister Krell, she now had a name but worse was coming. The Magister turned raised his left hand clicked his fingers, as an order to the hologram, which switched from battles to personal pictures and military files, one most of all hers, in the middle was her Classified military personnel file. "May I introduce Abigail Toni Luck, Federal intelligence Commando, Freedom Fighter, Descendant of Jack Luck Himself, whose house we stand within" She couldn't believe it he knew everything about her

"And the Older Sister of the One Man whose has become so much of a threat to our War effort ......James Luck"
