The Known and Forgotten
Prologue:
The first human colony beyond our own solar system, the planet that these first travelers set their sights on was a world called Titana. A world with deadly gases and toxins in the air, and even deadlier wildlife, Mankind dug in hard, building a immense great wall around the newly established colony.
The wall was truly immense, fifty feet in height and half that in width, powerful turrets dotted all along the top, with Militia patrols always marching atop the battlements. watching the outskirts of the dead lands that make up what is now the war-zone.
Mankind is a brutal creature, they speak so much of freedom and prosperity, yet they are more than willing to enslave their own kind. And not so long ago mine.
We are Marauders the hybrid creature, our DNA made up of both Human and indigenous lifeforms, allowing us to breath the toxic air, eat the poisonous food, whilst also allowing us to breath the same air that you need to survive. A Human corporation created our Mothers and Fathers, to work the deep mines, they lived deep underground, building small "Slave"Communities", living in constant fear of the whip'n'lash. Having to work night and day in the depths of the tunnels drilling and hammering away at solid stone walls, seeking that which made the Humans rich.
They became rich and fat on our labour, on our pain. We suffered under the rock while they lived in the light of the sun and stars. Then our world changed and so did theirs, Our people lead by Sev En Fo To Tray rose in rebellion, stormed the Human city, and fought their way to freedom.
They built themselves a home in the hills and mountains far from mankind, we farmed the land, domesticated the wildlife, We did what the humans could never do, we allowed our skin to feel the suns heat.
We would never live behind protective metal and glass, neither would have to live in suits in order to breath.
We have thrived since our freedom, but that does not mean that it has been easy....
The Humans bear anger against us, I find this frustrating, they created us, they enslaved us, they tortured us, they murdered those who stood up.
But OH NO, just because we decided to fight back, they are the wounded party. If Humans don't understand Justice then we shall give it them, If they come to our territory then they shall pay for their peoples injustice in blood.
Chapter 1: Are we at War
Diary entry of Robert Wilks
Occupation: Farmer
Almost 5 years since that day, 5 bloody years since those Marauders started this war.
The U.N military have done their best to protect us.
But its not much, Without the Marauders, we have nothing coming out of the mines, and that means little to no money coming in for the colony.
The best we can do is farm inside our protective domes, and even then its not much, I grow just enough to feed myself and possible trade a little in the black market.
jeez the Black market, for being so much against the market, Soldiers don't seem that bothered in getting rid of it.
Hell it hasn't changed locations in 3 years working out of an old processing factory near the mines.
People trading stuff they need, food and medicines for stuff they want, like books, films, decorations even weapons.
But the other night shall be the last time that I go to the market in the evening. Because as I came home, went through the air lock, removed my suit as the oxygen rich air came gushing in, and got ready to open the inner door, but I noticed then that their were marks on the door lock.
I opened the door slowly checking my corners as I went from room to room, as I made my way to my broom closet in the kitchen, got their to find a mess, every item in my kitchen draws were all over the place. Knives, foods, dirty cloths, clean cloths, shattered plates and glasses, even the security monitor was on the floor.
I grabbed my rifle from the closet, and loaded a mag. But then on the security monitor came a warning, "Proximity alert, Main door"
I ran for the door, put my suit back on, locked my flashlight to the rifle barrel and ran out ready for a fight.
Standing in front of the door, I aimed my rifle scanning the bushes and trees, surround my farmstead dome. All I could hear through my helmet were the snapping of twigs and branches as something moved around in the darkness.
I continued to scan with my torch and rifle, and it is was then that I saw it, A Injunt, the largest predator on this planet, its insect like Armour covering its wolf like figure, I could only see the front of its immense body, this things was as big as a horse, but then my eyes caught something else, a pair of Glowing Red Eyes high above the creature.
I recognized what was on the Injunts back in a second A MARAUDER, all i could see was its red eyes watching me carefully.
It just sat their atop of its ride, just watching me. It did nothing but watch me for what seemed like an eternity. And then in slowly one step at a time the Injunt moved back into the pitch black darkness, beyond my torches reach.
After it disappeared, I could only hear the snapping of twigs and branches yet again, each one slowly becoming more and more quieter.
It is times like this that I am reminded that they are out there.
THEY ARE ALWAYS OUT THERE
Colonial News report:
Earlier today the United Nations Garrison discovered the body of one Robert Wilks.
Mr Wilks a well known farmer, infamous for he preference for farming outside of the protective wall was found dead in his dome, the investigation into his death, found evidence of possible Marauder involvement. Due to the bullet holes that cover the area in which Mr Wilks body was found.
It is suspected that a Marauder raiding party attacked his farmstead to steal materials. the inside of his Farmstead was said to be torn apart as the Marauders took everything that they could get their hands on. This has been the 48th incident of such nature in the past few months.
The UN Garrison commander has requested that we inform all colonists living outside the Main Wall have been ordered to retreat back behind the wall to prevent further deaths.
In other war related news several patrols have reported to have been ambushed by Marauder Guerillas, during their regular patrols into the hills. However most of the patrols reported to only have suffered wounded and none being killed during the fire fights.
U.N report: 2262
Marauder activity has been increasing in the last few weeks, many of the locals are fearing that the Marauders are scouting for another major assault on the wall. However our analysts are against this, stating that the Marauders are cautious fighters, and would not make the same mistake of launching a full blown assault.
As previous reports have stated, the last time they launched such an attack, cost them many fighters. All analysts agree that the Marauders are merely scouting alternative ways to get behind the wall and into the main colony.
Personally I believe that they are merely doing what we would, keeping an eye on what it is we are doing, ensuring that we are not pushing to far into the hills and mountains. Other reports coming in from our patrols seem to agree with this, the Marauders are more interested in continuing their Insurgency rather than wasting resources attacking the Colony directly.
Chapter 2: A point of View
Captured audio recording from Surveillance drone
"Five years it has been since we began this fight.
Five years since we started the fight to free ourselves from their oppression, they could have just let us leave after we broke free, but no they had to bomb our people as we made our way to find a home for ourselves.
Now we are engaged in a great conflict, in which we fight a guerilla war for our very freedoms.
They would blame us for the violence, they would claim that this is rightfully their world,
yet it is we who have been able to breath the free air of this beautiful world and live amongst its truly amazing wildlife.
Remember my friends, remember the words of our hero Sev En Fo To Tray
"Freedom is more than a word, its is a cause, a Cause that walks hand in hand with hope, for as long as we have hope, we shall one day be free"
For we all know that the ONE WAY OR ANOTHER WE SHALL BE FREE"
Colonial News:
Earlier today, a messenger arrived before the wall, claiming to be a Marauder courier. He claimed that he was here to offer a truce to the colony, in order to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
The Garrison Commander told the courier that such a truce would have to be authorized by the highest level of the U.N before being truly implemented.
This might very well be the turning point in ending the brutal five year conflict that is tearing this world apart.
